I ordered Brandywine tomatoes along with three other varieties and received some kind of pepper plants instead. Anyone can make a mistake. I asked for a replacement for the mixup. Will type another review if they send me the right item this time or not.
Canceled order after 60 days. Burgess can not fulfill orders 80% of the time. The company advertises plants that they assume will be available from other suppliers but there is no guarantee. I was told by customer service that the boat containing a fraction of my order has not arrived from Holland and is expected next month. I called several times to inquire about my order and was coerced into believing that "Rush Shipping" would have my order shipped A. S.A. P. Finally a representative at Burgess told me the truth and I decided to cancel the order. I will take my refund and purchase plants locally. Please, do not shop at Burgess.
Ordered about 100 bucks worth of stuff. All brown dry dead plants sealed in plastic bags after about 2 months waiting. Molly at customer serves tells me they arrive in a "dormant state" and only need 6 weeks to rise from the dead. Hysterical.
What a horrible experience with customer service today. Good luck trying to get satisfaction when they mess your order up. 2 different reps told me 2 completely opposite things. I'll never order from this place again
I came back to do an update on a review I left here awhile back for the 5 in 1 PLUM TREE. People on here were upset they received a stick verses a grafted tree with branches. As stated before, upon inspection, I recognized they're using the bud grafting method. 3 of the 5 grafts grew into long healthy branches plus a few branches from mother plant. I'm ok with this. Enough for cross pollination. We've had weird weather since early spring so I expected a bit of damage.
I'd still order from this company despite their shortcomings. They might be rough around the edges but anything I've ordered has ultimately been fine and customer service has helped me in the past.
I have read most of the reviews here concerning this company's products and customer service. I've been ordering from them occasionally over many years. Honestly, any time I've called them, I really haven't had any customer service issues since they do state right off to have items replaced, you need the original label. I do keep a garden folder with all plant purchase receipts from them and other companies for this exact reason.
In regards to people commenting about not getting what they thought they should get with a grafted tree, I see what you are thinking; your grafted tree should have branches. I just got mine (grafted plum) yesterday and it is indeed a pruned single stemmed tree. BUT since I've been gardening for 40 plus years, I immediately recognized what they did. It's called bud grafting. I was able to find all grafts on my "stick" and I'm happy they all look well healed and established. This summer, hopefully the tree will take and the grafts will grow. My only complaint is shared by others. The main roots were bone dry with maybe a cup's worth of fine end roots in moist soil. That could be improved upon since dry roots can mean dead plant. Especially when they're pricy.
Burgess is not a fuzzy and cozy warm company but i will still order from them.
I had to contact the Better Business Bureau to get the company to send my order after two months of waiting, emails to the company & several phone calls which never go through. It's always "busy". The order arrived with yellowed plants at best and some were dead. Their business practices are deceptive and customer service is HORRENDOUS. Do not order from them. They are a huge rip off. I asked to cancel an order they haven't sent yet, but charged me for. They did not even acknowledge that request. I don't expect to get my money back, but I will do my best to be sure nobody else gets taken advantage of by this company by leaving reviews..
Don't order from Burgess! Last year I wasted almost $200 for plants that did not arrive until well after the planting season for them passed. When they did arrive, they were in very poor condition, with a good bit of mold and slime. No one answers the phone, and their customer service email results in an auto reply, so it is clear no one monitors it. I sent my plants back, but never received a refund. Save yourself some heartache, and order from a reputable company.
I placed an order on 2/15/22 (46 days ago) and still haven't received it. Every time I check the status, the shipping date is pushed farther back. It's currently 4/18-4/23, more than two months after they charged my credit card. I've chatted with their support several times and each time they promised to expedite the shipping but still nothing.
Placed an order over a month ago. Based on their information the items were ready to ship and would be shipped in 5 days. Every week I check on the shipment and every week the dates get pushed back another week or two. Customer service is none existent. They just take your money and ignore you.
Don't order from this company! My order was placed on 4/24/2020. Credit card billed. Repeatedly tried to call for shipping information but their line was always busy. Sent 4 emails and noone ever replied to me. Received shipment today on 6/13/2020. Plants were dry. Mosquito geraniums were dry and broken (pic added). Some of the roots had mold on them. Substitutions to my order were made that I didn't want for two items that I ordered that definitely were not of equal value. Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT order from Burgess!
Answer: My advice is to NEVER order anything from Burgess as they send dead plants, sticks and twigs and if you have placed an order then go ahead and ask for a refund because you wont be happy. The plants they send are typically dead or will not live long. Don't trust their warranty as they do not honor any warranty. Burgess has sister companies with different names because Burgess is now known as dishonest and a scam. Any good reviews you see are probably from the company itself. Read through the 1000's of reviews and you will be satisfied you did not buy from Burgess or its sister companies.
