I have rented cars from EconomyCarRentals on many locations over many years. Everything has always worked very fine indeed - also the rare time og maybe two, when something unexpected happened. I can very much recommend this company both regarding very good prices and overall service:-)

Don't forget that EconomyCarRentals is a broker who finds available car rental companies among the rental companies. Their policy when a rental is changed in one way or another (e.g. Arriving late) is very broad and allows them to practically let you down and run off with your deposit regardless of the reason. If your flight or your ferry arrived late that's your problem. This is what happened to me. As I arrived more than 30 minutes late, the company treated this as a "no show", therefore when I arrived, my car was no longer available (for a 4 days rental!) and I was left to my own devices and without a car with all my luggage. I contacted EconomyCarRentals and was lectured that I should have notified them of my delay and that my deposit was lost. So please don't do business with them! Instead, deal directly with the rental company rather than a broker!

This is what happened to me. Economy Car Rentals Review of service on 6/14/2024.

1. Turned away at airport and did not get car.
2. Had to go to other vendors at airport and pay on the spot rental elevated prices.
3. Economy Car Rental telephone operators tell they have no way to refund money taken several months ago by Economy Car Rental. Unfortunately this charge might become minor to how much loss of no car or upgraded charges of other rental company immediate sale or no car at all.
4. Long telephone wait time.
5. No such company found at Mexico, Tulum. Does this company actually have cars to rent or is it just a 3'rd party that has no responsibility several months after fee they charge prior to actual rental?

Rental of car on 6/14/2024.
Car was provided through Hertz at Mexico, Tulum Airport and was declined by Hertz at airport office. Hertz confirmation number provided was valid but Hertz told me and others from Economy Car Rental that they had no cars for us. Other people that rented from Hertz did have cars. NO upgrades offered and we had been turned away.

I am guessing that our rates had been lower that that of Hertz customers. This has never happened to me in 20 years on any continent.

You do not want to be placed in this situation on your trip. Pay the higher cost from companies having cars to rent.

We had money taken from our bank account by the car rental company because Economy Car Rental didn't inform us about the significant extra cost and are now not responding to our request to provide the paperwork to justify the extra cost taken from our bank account without even informing us. We initially paid the full amount when picking up the car and then a month later almost 1000NZD was taken from our bank account. We have been trying to sort it out for more than two months and so far they keep delaying without providing any justifiable reason and not responding directly to the claim.

I have been using the service for 10 years. I ask you to withdraw the good reviews that I wrote about them. The service has definitely deteriorated. The last 2 bookings were a negative experience. Payment was taken twice: on the website and at the car dealership. The dealership gave me a different car than the one I had booked, in poor condition. Prepayment cannot be returned. Long correspondence with this company does not lead to results. It is clear that the company is in a sad state and will close soon. Unfortunately, you will have to give them up forever. I don't recommend it!

Total and complete ripoff! Unlike any other reputable rental companies, they misrepresented insurance and toll information and price. I watched other customers similarly frustrated give in and just pay. They were attempting to charge me 5-6 times what Expedia had quoted. The rental agent requested my insurance declaration page, promising that would eliminate the insurance charge. I gave it to him and then he reneged. When I asked for the manager he said there was none, and he refused to give me his name. In addition to their unethical behavior I should also point out that Economy's rental location in Miami is not in the Rental Car Center, but is in a dangerous and unsafe area.

They Cancelled with no alternative given. We rented a car. Got charged and a confirmed reservation … we arrived in Iceland and were told the reservation had been cancelled 5 minutes (literally) before we were to start it. I called customer service and were told they they would not find a car. Period. Do not use this company, they will leave you hanging

Our experience was very disappointing. Pick up and drop of was fine, however the car we received was appalling. It was extremely dirty and did not feel like a safe vehicle. The car smelled strongly of vomit which was very off putting when we got into the car every day. I sent an email to Economy Car Rentals along with several photos in the hope that they would respond and acknowledge this was an unacceptable vehicle for $80/day. No response. Please consider carefully before booking with Economy Car Rentals. When we expressed our concerns we were ignored and hurried out of the building. Not worth the minimal saving they offer.

Absolutely cheat and scam company that will not let you change a booking due to an honest date error nor will let you cancel and rebook. I recently booked a car rental through Expedia like I always have and to my shock, even an Expedia agent could not change or cancel my booking. I called the company directly twice and was outrightly told that they cannot accommodate my request. It's Expedia approved vendor and should be removed and blacklilsted from their options. Their rates are very cheap when you click on "Great Deal" but non modifiable and non cancellable. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed with Expedia. Don't be fooled by this Mom & Pap company called "Economy Car Rental". I paid and lost $33.

Book a rental online got to the site they stated I'm not allowed to get a rental due to I'm a resident of the state of Georgia they only rent to otter state individuals I called for a refund they told me non refund banks can't do nothing about it. Truist bank is terrible they took $247.00 & only return $ 9.00

My booking was cancelled by the third party car rental (Union Cars). No assistance given and we had to pay multiple uber and taxi companies to get to a wedding.

The cancellation was processed because they refuse an Australian Debit Card which acts just like a credit card in NZ. However we were not told this. They happily take your money for the booking deposit then refuse the card on arrival.

Therefore as a customer I am within my right to ask for a refund of the booking fee. The company is happy to respond to reviews but do not respond to customer requests.

Terrible customer service and pretty much is a scam to get a fee for the booking. And then you have to pay the hire car company when you arrive.

I advise anyone wanting to book with economycarrental to reconsider and find a car hire company in the destination they will explore.

Tip for consumers:
Poor customer service. Company is located in Greece. You can not call or speak to a representative.

Honestly this was the worst car rental experience of my life.

We had an issue with our rental and it was absolutely impossible to reach any customer service representative!

Literally 5 months later (today) I got an email Anna their '' customer care specialist ''. They are a joke.

0/5 stars. Stay clear they don't deserve your hard earned money

I rented a car via EconomyBookings for pick up at Maui airport. Confirmation email did not have any information where to pick up car. After asking around we found a place where shuttle is. The car we got was damaged outside and ripped inside. We asked for another car and they had none. I asked for refund (it was a pre paid reservation) and was told that we need to call support. After 2 calls and 2 emails five days later there is no confirmation that my email was received. Never rent car from this company.

Stay away from this company. When you arrive at the airport there is no car! If you want to go ahead with a booking with the hire company (in our case Thrifty) you are asked for three times the amount quoted through this site. According to Thrifty staff in Orlando airport they had never even heard of Economy Car Rentals. Not good in the middle of the night feeling very vulnerable with children (one being disabled). On return home the lack of customer service was even more shocking. They take a deposit and let you down. Ruined the start of our once in a life time holiday. Any reviews that imply this company are legitimate are no doubt written by themselves. Steer Clear!

A car that was supposed to cost $387 ended up costing us $1175. This was not due to damages, but them mandating we buy their deluxe insurance package despite the fact we had international rental car insurance coverage on our credit card. They demanded a letter from the credit card company to prove it. This was late at night since our flight had gotten in at 11:00 P.M. We had no choice but to pay it or be stuck at some off site location somewhere by the airport. These people are scammers, do not use them unless you like paying 3X what was quoted.

I booked a car through this website and paid with an AMEX. The vendor did not tell me that the actual car rental place does NOT accept AMEX. When I arrived I was given a choice of not getting the car or paying 3 times as much as was quoted. The vendor responded to my query by saying that informing clients of this is not up to them but up to the client to do their research. I'm saving you the trouble, use this vendor at your own risk. Pay a little more and ensure you don't get ripped off like I did.

We booked an Alamo car for 10 days to be picked up at Aix-en-Provence TGV by 21.00, as stated on our e-Voucher. The Alamo desk had shut at 19.30,70 minutes before our train arrived, and no help was available by telephone, either Alamo or ECR. We had to hire a taxi to take us to a hotel, spend the night there, and take a taxi back to pick up the car the next morning. Alamo were fine, and explained that ECR should have known their desk hours. We lost half a day's holiday, and additional expenses of 150 Euros. Despite several emails and on-line form-filling, ECR have not responded to our request for a refund four weeks later. I suspect they do not concern themselves with their clients' welfare, or even their own image.

I rented from economy car rentals.com on line. Gave them a deposit and when I arrived
At the Tampa Airport in Florida there were taxes and fees, which I understand is necessary on behalf of the airport. When i finally received my paperwork I never received credit from deposit. Spent over a week talking with the company and have not got anywhere. Be aware, they are no good. Third party. Big rip off.

If I could give them a lower rating than 1 I would. Rented a car in Liberia, Costa Rica. I was expecting to pay $870 CA which was the quoted price. They ended up extorting $1605 from me for insurance I did not need, my credit card covers such. They would not let me take the car without it, leaving me with no option. Absolutely corrupt company, which is likely why car rentals are rated the number 1 scam in Costa Rica.

Booked one day hire car through Economy Car Rentals (on line) in Florence. Maggiore car hire company used by Economy Car Rentals. Paid deposit on line (only about £13). Then stood for nearly 2 hours waiting for it at the station the next day. Ran back and forth to the Maggiore office about one kilometre away but office was shut. Asked at hotel next door but they said everyone probably gone home by now (6pm). Missed going to Pisa (intended day trip) and cost £40 to get back to our hotel.
Complained and received auto response stating looking in to it. A month later - nothing. No refund and no correspondence.
Am thinking of setting up similar website - take deposit and provide no car. Money spinner!

We booked a car for Barcelona airport online with this economycarrentals. Advance payment and all. When the airplane got delayed and we reached the rental office next day (the rental office was closed when we arrived) they told us that our reservation was cancelled because we did not notify the rental broker (economycarrentals) of our delay and the money we payed did not reached them. Who the F can notify anyone in airplane mode anyways? No person would answer on that single line that was printed on our receipt. All you can do is fill a complaint letter online and you'll receive a response with 'thank you for your...'. I never saw the money back. All you can do is to report an internet adress that took your money and gave nothing in return. Good luck with that! 150 euros gone. So watch out, these guys are THIEVES!

I made a reservation 3 months in advance for a Chrysler voyager or similar. They charged me $83. When I arrived, not only did they not even have a similar car, but the operator tells me that the reserved car does not exist in the country. I had to rent something similar with another operator, which obviously cost me more, because I didn't have a reservation. Worst of all, they don't even give me back a percentage of the reservation. 83 dollars for a service that was not provided and also made me spend more money than budgeted. Tremendous scam

Had an accident with the car and economy reviewed the entire process and reimburse me the so called franchise.
They always replied to my emails.
A nice advise to economy, indeed you must check with the car rental companies that the delivered cars are confirm to the booking. The cars rentals companies have always the tendency to claim that there are no available cars even during the peak of the COVID 19.

I gave 3 stars as it did work good for me for about 10 renting in many countries. At that time almost all renting had ZERO excess to pay for the insurance. I even broke a car in the Canary island for about $200 and I never heard about it after (because insurances were always fully included). Now! I am worry as the ZERO excess doesn't exist anymore.

I stopped using this internet site after my last renting in Delpaso Car hire in Malaga. I paid for the full insurance but Delpaso still wanted to force me to take THEIR insurance. Worst, they tried to charge me for a cracked windshield that was broken at the time of the insurance. I said that I took pictures of it on the day of the rental then they let me go.

Others renting now as always insisting to pay for excess insurance. Before, it was included.

Now! After my last experience and all the comments here, I would not trust EconomyCarRentals anymore. It seems that it is not anymore what it was. It seems that they don't care anymore. They just want to make extra money before declaring a bankruptcy.
