I have rented cars from EconomyCarRentals on many locations over many years. Everything has always worked very fine indeed - also the rare time og maybe two, when something unexpected happened. I can very much recommend this company both regarding very good prices and overall service:-)
Don't forget that EconomyCarRentals is a broker who finds available car rental companies among the rental companies. Their policy when a rental is changed in one way or another (e.g. Arriving late) is very broad and allows them to practically let you down and run off with your deposit regardless of the reason. If your flight or your ferry arrived late that's your problem. This is what happened to me. As I arrived more than 30 minutes late, the company treated this as a "no show", therefore when I arrived, my car was no longer available (for a 4 days rental!) and I was left to my own devices and without a car with all my luggage. I contacted EconomyCarRentals and was lectured that I should have notified them of my delay and that my deposit was lost. So please don't do business with them! Instead, deal directly with the rental company rather than a broker!
I reserved and prepaid for a rental car with Economy Rent A Car a month in advance to guarantee my rate. This was a NO CANCELLATION contract. My flight was cancelled and I was unable to pick up my car until the next day. I called Economy to notify them that I would pick up the car the next day. Upon arriving I was charged an additional $170 because Economy cancelled my contract and was now charging me at a higher rate. If I am unable to cancel the contract, why can they? I was not looking to be refunded for the day I missed and I was certainly not expecting to pay an extra $170. The customer service and corporate office was extremely unprofessional when handeling this dispute. I would NEVER recommend using this rental car company. Shame on them!
March 28,2017 I have posted the review about my experience with very rude representative when I called economycarrentals.com. Next day the customer service manager contacted us. She was very pleasant and professional. She even called me (Canada). So, we decided to give them one more chance.
Here is the update: We are back from our trip to Hungary and I can say that our experience this time was GREAT!
No hassle to book. Furthermore, our flight with KLM was delayed 6 hours, so we had to fly one day later to get our connection in Amsterdam. I could cancel the reservation last minute and make a new one, so we did not pay for the extra day.
The whole rental process with Budget (BUD) was very good and friendly, both pick-up and drop off. The car was better then we expected! Almost new, diesel. The representative inspected the car at the end and signed on the invoice - no new marks. Charge on visa was exactly as stated during pick-up ("no surprises" yet).
We are going back to Budapest in 2 month for the wedding and we are planning to use economycarrentals.com again.
Please be aware of this company.
I decided to cancel my booking due to reviewing the fine print on my voucher; I sent emails that confirmed my worries and read reviews. I now wish I had read reviews before I booked with this company.
I got a generic email saying my refund was processed on 24 February 23. I called the bank, as Economy Car Rentals said an international refund could take up to 30 days. That is not the case; the bank clarified today that it will always be notified that a refund has been raised. Regardless of what country, international transfers would take seven working days to clear into an account.
I have asked in numerous emails to get proof of a processed refund (EFT remittance), not a generic email. And my emails have been ignored.
The terms stated on the website are free cancellation if done before 48 hours. This was done four months before my holiday— terms to do state that I must wait 30 days for my refund.
This has caused me enormous stress as I am being ignored and worried I will not get my money back.
Please do not book with this company.
Normally I have had great success with EconomyCarRentals, but my first bad experience shows that they do not resolve problems well. I had reserved a car in Jerusalem City Center for 4 days. I paid Economy their deposit and they provided me their voucher. Problem is that the Budget rental car company in Jerusalem would not honor it since they said I was a "no-show." I was there exactly to the minute of the agreement. I found out that Economy had made a computer error booking my reservation a month earlier than the contracted time and making it for 33 days. I then had to take same day rate for the only car left there or anywhere and have to pay half again more than the voucher. Economy had no phone they answer. I informed them by email within a week including all of the paperwork showing them their error. I requested the difference between the voucher and what I paid. They said to give them a few weeks, which I did. It has now been six months with emails every month. They don't deny the problem, but they pass the buck to the Budget or act like they don't understand how such a thing could happen. Either way I made a contract with them and their voucher was worthless because of their input error. Still no resolution. I think the keep putting their head in a hole hoping it will go away or I will die waiting. A mark of a good company is how they handle problems. This is a black and white very objective problem. I am surprised especially since I am (or should I say was) a big fan of theirs.
Have been a client of this company for a few years. Last time I booked with them Sixt refused to give me the car in Brussels airport saying my driving license was not valid because it was not in the format required by their documentation terminal (which is not my fault). Went right next to Avis and they promptly gave me a car.
Contacted economycar rentals, they took a month to check my inquiry and in the end said Sixt told them my documentation was not vaild, which is not true. They even did not bother to check a copy of my licence but just took Sixt's side and said there is nothing they can do and will not refund my depost.
Would never go with this company again as they clearly take the side of rental firms and not their cusotmer should an issue arrise.
THEY ARE THE EPITOME OF BAIT ANS SWITCH. When it comes down to their insurance policy is a joke. They prey on the elderly as well. If I could give a negative rating I would. They can cancel on you and still won't refund on the spot. You can call the 1 877 number or local number and the representative Jamie will not let you speak to a manager. Horrible customer service... this coming from a manager in customer service.
Scammers! This is NOT Economy Rental Car. These guys rent nothing but appear to be a car rental agency. Report them to your credit card provider and block them from doing business.

Rented a car from this company in Costa Rica.was forced to pay for car insurance despite the fact that both my husband and I were insured independently and we were covered by our credit card company as well (all supporting paperwork provided to the clerk at the time of rental). We were told that we could not rent the car unless we took their insurance or our policies specifically stated that we had covered in Costa Rica (country had to be mentioned by name) and coverage for over $1 million dollars. Turns out the car rental company buys their insurance from the government for $2 per day to the INS for the government mandated SLI and then turns around and changes 15-35 per day to it's customers. We had been advised by a local tour guide that other companies will indeed waive this and it is not mandatory at all. When I asked why I was not given the option to sign the waiver declining I was told it was not an option. We had also been told that in Costa Rica this is considered a deposit and we should get our money back- this was refused by Economy car rental.

I pickup the small simple Opel Corsa, which was simple and very economical in rental cost (just 64Euro for 3 days) and in fuel (another 62 Euro for 780 km). It was a small line in the Ternimi, Roma Central Station (~30 minutes) ans another 20 minutes to find the parking and starting the driving. Actually, no more problems. The drop-off at the Fiumicino, Roma was very simple after I was able to find the drop-off location.
Very bad company. They are brokers. Better rent directly with car owner company. I lost my deposit. Before they say refound me after many excuse for not refund

I rented a car for 3 weeks and made a prepayment.
My flight was delayed and I notified EconomyCarRentals about it giving the new arrival time and asking to warn Alamo (the renting company they made a booking with)
My message was ignored and when I arrived there was no single car left.
When I asked to return my prepayment they refused saying that was "no show'.
So, as a result of their failure to process my request, I ended up without a car in the middle of the night and lost my prepayment money.

Please, note that we are an agency cooperating with car rental companies and for this reason, we always need to confirm with our suppliers the availability of the vehicles especially when the requests are for special car categories.
Then, even if the majority of the times the booking requests are confirmed, some cars cannot be confirmed. When this happens, we automatically inform our customer and request a refund.
The downpayment amount is always preauthorized and as soon as the booking is confirmed is charged. If the booking does not get confirmed the downpayment is released back to the customer's account.

Booked through Expedia with confirmation that car was booked in Orlando. Arrived to find total chaos and no cars for everyone there. We were sent to another provider to get a car for a day as they would have a car tomorrow. Arrived the next day and was told that my CAA and gold card was not enough proof that I had rental coverage and therefore I had to buy their coverage at 14 bucks a day. That almost doubled my rental cost. They hit every customer there with the same and the shouting of dissatisfaction was deafening. We were given a car that looked like it had been in a war zone. The inside lining on the ceiling was falling down. We took it out of desperation only to find that we had to pump up a tire every morning. On my way to exchange the car... wish me luck Update:. They also deal under the name Signature Rent a Car... as for the European name sake, i would say to them that they should get after Expedia and not after me. As it's Expedia that is booking the vehicles under the name Economy Rent a Car in Orlando..

Using Expedia, I rented a car through Economy Rent a Car in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I also purchased a full collision Insurance from AIG. When I went to pick u the car, their affiliate, America Rent a Car, forced me to purchase another collision insurance of US$60 in order to have the car with a deposit of US$600. The other option they gave me, in order to use my AIG collision insurance, was leaving a US$13,000 deposit. So basically they didn't accept my collision insurance. The car was old and dirty.

I made a booking at Mexico City airport with Economycarrentals. I received a confirmation that the booking had been accepted by Enterprise. When we arrived at the airport there were NO CARS AVAILABLE. Enterprise stated that they did not confirm the booking and in fact hadn't had any cars available for weeks.
We had to get a car to complete our onward journey and were forced to rent a car from Avis at great expense. As a result, we lost over $1500!
EconomyCarRentals has refused to accept responsibility and seems to have a policy of stalling when it comes to customer service.
If you use this company, you risk a fake booking!

When I have arrived to GOLDCAR desk at Catania airport I was strongly advised to do not proceed with the reservation made through EconomyCarRentals, since a very basic insurance cover was included and that was not enough for Sicily (they said). Instead I was asked to pay 246,20 euros for a full coverage. Otherwise I should pay a deposit of 4600 euros, if I wanted to keep the voucher from EconomyCarRentals.
Since I was never informed I should pay that huge amount as deposit if I wanted to keep this service, I have decided to look for cheaper services elsewhere. That was considered as a no show, and EconomyCarRentals deducted a fee from my credit card.

We booked for a car on Aug-14 to Spain. We received CENTAURO rental car. On our voucher it was written that shuttle bus come every 10 minutes from specific area in the airport to pick you up to CENTAURO office. We were at that area, but no one came, until we gave CENTAURO a call 30 minutes later. Also CENTAURO charge us an extra amount (30 euro) for shuttle bus, while in the voucher it was written free of charge. Also CENTAURO charge us an extra amount for a full fuel tank in advance (110 euro) before taking the car - none of that was mentioned on the voucher. Furthermore, we received a car of a low level group compare to what we ordered. When we complaint about all of that at economy car rentals, they didn't take responsibility, didn't help and just gave us excuses. DO NOT BOOK FROM THEM. It maybe cheap on order but expensive on the car rental desk.
I had an absolutely terrible experience with Green Motion car rental. The car I rented was dirty. The customer service representative who helped me was rude and unhelpful, and seemed annoyed that I was even asking questions. The sign of tire problems was on, and they did not care about it. When I insisted, they took the car and inflated the tire, but the sign was back on the next day. Fortunately, I did not have any problems with this, but it was clear that the car had not been properly maintained. The customer service I received was equally disappointing. When I raised my concerns about the condition of the car, I was met with indifference and a complete lack of concern for my safety When I returned the car, I was charged extra fees for highway tolls (even if Google maps was set to avoid highways), and I think this was a big lie. Overall, I would not recommend this car rental company to anyone and would advise people to look elsewhere for their rental needs, since it was clear that they had no interest in ensuring my satisfaction as a customer.

DO NOT BUY INSURANCE AND DAMAGE EXCESS FROM THEM!
I bought full insurance from Economy car rental and when I arrived to the car provider I find out it is not full: does not include road assistance, wind shield, tires, mirrors, etc. Also I paid for the damage excess so I do not get money blocked on my card but guess what it was not the case! Provider still blocked the money and in case of anything you I would have had to provide police reports to them etc. Imagine me a foreigner in vacation looking for a police report. I decided to pay again full insurance and damage protection at the provider directly and that gives you the real deal with no money blocked no head ache with the police in case of anything.
Customer relations sucks! They solve nothing.
Giving Economy Car Rental 01 is giving them credit. If I could I would give them minus 1 million they don't even deserve that in fact they deserve to be removed from the planet. I made the biggest mistake renting a car through this company. I was unaware of the line Ontario about not being able to use another credit card when the driver doesn't have one. Coming from Alberta this is allowed and I book the car with my credit card the company knew straight out that I was using my card and they allowed me to book it. So we come to Toronto we're at our airport at the car place and we're trying to get our car. In front of us are seven people all fighting to get their money back because they have been ripped off in various Ways by economy rent a car. When we got up they looked at some said no we are not going to allow this the driver does not have a credit card. I told them I wanted my money back because they already charged my credit card over $400. They told me they weren't going to give me my money back and I had to take it up somewhere else. So I am taking it somewhere else. I say class action suit against this company again let's get as many people across Canada as we can to kick this company to the curb and close their $#*! down. I know that many people have lost their money through this company and it is horrible that they have been allowed to do this. I am reporting them to Transport Canada the Better Business Bureau and any other place I can find. I am closing down Economy Car Rental they have dealt with the Devil.

DON'T USE THEM
Booked a car with them and when i arrived the rental office was closed
