This company responds to reviews, but usually not within the first month
Unfortunately, this life is short, even if it is long. We may all need one day a heart that cares for us and a hand that reaches out to help us. Let us all live in love, safety and peace, and let us cooperate in our worries and pains until the end. I am very influenced by the Western cultures and way of life, especially the Anglophone culture. I love volunteering for humanitarian reasons. I love assisting the others, especially those who cannot depend on themselves like the elderly people, people with special needs, people with disabilities, and children. I feel so good about myself, comfortable, and happy when I offer a helping hand to those who deserve it.
Update: the company responded to my review by immediately placing blame on me, and ignoring the several emails I have sent them over the course of a year and a half. They want me to delete the review or change it to 5 so they can get more people to fall for their scam. Please do not donate to this company, donate to your local community that you can validate with your own eyes and in person. They need it more than whatever this website is doing with your hard earned money. This is my advice to you when dealing with this company, please be safe. Look at the image I attached. The name in the message doesn't even match the name on the account. I repeatedly reached out to them multiple times to stop charging me. I never even signed up for the donations, I had to call paypal to get involved and they said this place had been charging me through paypal as a guest account and that is why I could not find it to stop it on my side. They had to go through several additional steps to get ElderHelpers (more like ScamHelpers) to stop charging me. I reported them to PayPal and I am reporting them to the FBI https://www.ic3.gov/
This is hands down the worst volunteer organization I've ever dealt with. They are incredibly disorganized, their website has lots of issues, they request a $50 donation from all volunteers up front, and they never actually get a hold of you to donate your time. I wish I'd heeded the advice online to stay away from this organization. It's been a colossal waste of my time and I continue to receive emails from them to update my profile but no one ever contacts you to actually volunteer. I strongly suggest you volunteer with another organization as I have done, as I am not even positive if this is even a real organization or they just claim to be and take donations.
We signed up a few days ago and spoke to a very helpful customer care person to help us with the process. My grandmother is now taken care of by someone local while the family is not always here. Very happy. Thank you.
It was great to view the many volunteers on the ElderHelpers website, which included young people who want to provide help with the older generation. The volunteers I selected have now become part of my family.
I have shared with many in my parish about Elder Helpers. Most have never heard of this great organization. Frequent announcements in newsletters or flyers at the various Senior Centers would be a good way to publicize about this organization.
After filling out a questionnaire and jumping through hoops to volunteer, the applicant is faced with a mandatory demand to pay $50 in order to go ahead. WHAT? Supposedly, it's to cover expenses for running the website. Who are they kidding? Is this any way to treat people who want to help out? Not in my book. Who thought of this anyhow?
Because we have a huge pool of volunteers nationwide for elders and their families to choose from, we recommend you making your profile as appealing as possible and getting on board with our VIP volunteer program. With elderhelpers.org volunteers are never required to donate money. A simple registration is enough to have the opportunity to give back to the community, gain knowledge and wisdom from seniors. Customer care can be reached at help@elderhelpers.org and SiteJabber offers a useful Q&A section.
Old age may not be very pleasant for you if you are alone and suffer from various health conditions. My beloved passed away a few years ago. I do not blame my son for not being able to dedicate much time and attention to me as he is a busy professional. My health was deteriorating. It was scary as I was not being able to perform many of my routine activities without help. A friend of mine, another old chap, recommended visiting elderhelpers.org. I found a compassionate and young volunteer who was willing to lend me a helping hand in the activities that I required assistance in.

My experience with elder helpers is good, they are serious and screen people. They do ask for the help of the subscribers to warn of disconnected numbers but most of them are current and the people listed on the site are real. Took me a good half an hour to get in touch with Veronica and she helps here and there. In my area I have a lot of other volunteers to choose from so if she becomes unavailable I can get back to the site to contact others. Overall very satisfied subscriber.
I paid the $30-some u have to pay to register ($10/monthly +22 or so for a background check) and have not been given any confirmation by background check has gone through (though the money has been processed) and I contacted customer support and according to their response email which I received twice, I should get a response in 2 business days. Meanwhile confused how this works

I ike the initiative and will always like to volunteer full time. May every effort you invest be directed in the welfare of mankind. Your selfless motives will always fetch the desired results and be encouraging to many volunteers
Who want to join and come forward for this great blessed cause
After providing the "donation", I contacted six numbers. One was non-working, two others answered as the same NAME, but were definitely not the people listed as volunteer. Three others never returned calls.
There is NO PHONE number for ElderHelpers to speak with someone. I Sent an email to which I got an automated, "we'll respond in 2 business days" and a week has gone with no reply but daily marketing emails. In theory, this is a fantastic idea but my conclusion is it's either fraudulent or horrifically managed.

I volunteered Elder Helpers through entire month. The whole duration of my volunteerism is an enjoyable one I will treasure it forever. It's totally amazing to touch lives of this people and this organizations gives the opportunity for us volunteers share what we love to do.
Being raised by my grandmother and grandfather, I know that life as the years come can be difficult if the proper care and resources are not provided to the elderly. Living alongside them and meeting their needs was always a primordial task for me, one that I hope to be able to share with other in need.
Over the past year I have work alongside a legal environment which advocates for the needs of the elderly in order to prevent abuse, neglect, and loss of life. It would be an honor to assist in any way that I may using the life-long knowledge and expertise I have acquired in order to meet the needs of those whom may not be able to help themselves as much as they used to.
I use to visit this lady named Pearl with my dog every Sunday for few hours whatching some classic movie ( her tv was always on that channel) actually i was watching, she was blind, but just seeing her so happy and content patting my dog belly for hours was such a fulfillment. Unfortunately she passed away, but i would gladly help any other seniors who would need help.
Thank you elders helpers!
It's been purposed in my heart to give back to the community through volunteering! I am so happy to have found this site and hope to have a family reach out to me for help with their elderly loved one(s).
It was easy to sign up!
What a great service, I was indeed able to find volunteers to help my parents on this site after a few phone calls. Volunteers get rewards and this is costing me almost nothing. I wish that there was more phone support but I understand that would probably raise the subscription cost to the user.
I think that it is an admirable service providing low cost senior care and that does not try to pretend to be something it is not. It's about 25 bucks a month if you pay a year in advance to get access to the service and get in touch with screened youngsters and adults wanting to help elders. Pretty great stuff if you ask me.
I contacted this organization for help regarding my Mom and truly was guided every step of the way with patience, compassion and understanding. I was offered another agency as my parents weren't able to handle the cost. Thanks again for the many emails and time spent to answer my detailed questions. I thank you for the teachable moments and as I continue being the caregiver and learning. Resources are wonderful when coming from people who care and know your journey.
I needed some help for my mom when she decided to retire and didnt have much money saved. I found elderhelpers.org and they connected me with a volunteer. It was kind of frustrating because we had to contact their volunteers and a lot of them did not pick up, it was worth it though. They also gave me a book to help use the program and really cared about my mom finding help. We need more sites like this
Once I learned my way around on the site, I was able to contact several volunteers and coordinate schedules so that they could fill in being with my husband in memory care. The monthly donation is minor compared to the hourly fees that must be paid for people to companion our loved ones. I lucked out with volunteers who were devoted to being of help and came through for my husband and me time after time. I highly recommend this website and this service.
I am a college student and I thought that volunteering would be a great way to spend time when I'm not in class. I know that many seniors don't always have family and friends that visit them, so I volunteered on ElderHelpers.org. I emailed a customer care rep who told me all I needed to do was fill out an application form. I filled out the form online, uploaded a picture, gave the reason I wanted to volunteer along with other personal information. However after I submitted this information, I was told that the next step was to make an "expected contribution" of AT LEAST $50 in order to continue the application process. While donating to charities in itself is a benevolent act, it is in my opinion ridiculous to require a payment in order to volunteer. This site makes it clear that they don't care about charity or volunteer work, they care about money and that is all. I will be volunteering at a local nursing home instead. Shame on the people running this site.

We all know the issues that aging can bring and how complicated can be for some people to adapt and to handle some daily activities. As a participant in ElderHelpers, I'm aware of the kind labor and compromise of people who participate in this program to provide help to those who need it. Would totally recommend it.
I had a great time using this website, it was fun and simple to volunteer for and help out the elderly folk in Sacramento. I volunteered for the local nursing home for six years, but wanted something a little more personal and wanted to help seniors stay in their homes. I love helping seniors and this program enabled me to do just that!
This is a follow up to my 10/6/22 review. There is a response by Elders of the issue has been resolved. The issue is not resolved. I asked for the corporate office address so I could look up Elders on the better business bureau website. Elders did not contact me with this info so I don't know how they can respond to my post the issue has been satisfactory resolved. This further questions the credibility of this business 10/25/23.

My name is Lisa and I have been a volunteer for elderhelpers.org. I personally chose to donate and pay for my background check but the tips section of the site and the customer service makes it very clear: "donations are not mandatory to volunteer" despite what some of the reviews here mention. I got called up many times by elders and family members and I help out here and there when I like the people asking for help and when my schedule permits it. That site really makes it easy for people like me to help out elders without jumping through hoops and dealing with bureaucracy of more traditional often religious brick and mortar nonprofits that have huge administrative costs. Amazing concept and I wish them the best for the future.
I had questions regarding what type of work could be done and the process. ** was very helpful and answered my questions in a timely manner. I appreciate their direction and help very much.

Wanted to find areas for volunteering in my area-----never one call, email, (just this one asking for rating) my experience is rated 0... never got any feedback from questions... just who are you assisting, or is this just an administrative action...

Elder Helpers is a user-friendly, web-based service. We believe that compassion at its finest is free. Volunteers register to offer their services based on their true desire to help elders. Elder Helpers strives to safely and conveniently connect these dedicated, passionate volunteers with elders in their local communities. We are a tax exempt organization and the contributions cover our operating costs. Our volunteers are true volunteers. For a tax deductible monthly donation of $50, you can contact as many volunteers as you would like, to ask them for as much help as you would like. We do screening and background checks and our website makes it convenient for you to locate volunteers where you need them and get to know them and the help they are willing to offer. Enjoy the safety and convenience of elderhelpers.org!
We are not supported by any government money. Solely volunteers, elders and their relatives help us pay for the technology and people making this service possible. Contributions from volunteers, training packets delivery, contributions from elders and relatives are handled by a third party meeting the best industry standards and is subject to change. Background checks are handled by www.IntelliCorp.net, a Verisk Company. We recruit our volunteers in reputable places and carefully screen all users. This service is new and innovative, we strongly encourage any visitor of this page to educate themselves by reading our FAQs at www.elderhelpers.org/faq and contact us via email for more information. Thank you.
Elderhelpers.org started in May 2010 to match volunteers with elders in need of help within their own community.
In the middle of June 2015, we have decided to stop offering a refund policy since it was rarely respected by our users. We switched to a third party meeting the best industry standards to offer tax deductible donation receipts, easy cancellation, and increased security.
We now only let informed people about our service (having read our FAQs carefully, and checked our listings of volunteers themselves) join our community. Each user gets access to our safe and convenient service for a small monthly contribution. We do not offer refunds anymore. There is no more subscription, monetary contribution is now considered a donation. And it is tax deductible!
People joining our community are asked to be patient, nice to our volunteers, and to report wrong and disconnected phone numbers to us, which is the only way that we can keep a database clean and up-to-date. This website is user supported: volunteers give their time and when they can donate money, elders and their relatives participate fifty dollars a month, and report their results to benefit the entire community of users.
