After signing up and paying for 2 months service I had been unable to use the service because of a changes in my life.

Very quick and nice when I called to cancel and get a refund. I am impressed and happy with ElderHelpers customer service.

I have been volunteering with Elderhelpers for approximately one (1) year. It's a fantastic program, and a great way to help the community. I have dedicated much of my life to volunteering and community service, and in fact I am the President of a non-profit corporation. I can say without hesitation that Elderhelpers is one of the best organizations I have been involved with. The staff is caring and attentive, and the elders with whom I've worked are thrilled to have a program which focuses on their needs.

I signed up because I thought it would be a great way to connect with seniors in need in my neighborhood. It all sounded great until I got to the page asking me to "donate" $50 to support the organization. I have volunteered at many places and have never been asked to chip in money when I'm already donating my time (which is worth a lot!). I canceled my membership and the response was that it was just a suggested donation to help pay for costs. There are many places that I can volunteer without being asked for additional money.

I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to contribute of my time, money, and effort in helping my elders. These folks have invaluable life experience to share, and at this stage in their lives I believe they have earned the right to our respect and a sense of dignity in their twilight years, and I am happy to spread the love!

I gladly sent in $50 with the hope of getting some assistance with my grandmother. The last 10 days I've tried calling 8 separate people listed. No one answered so left messages for those who had vm. No one has called me back to even say they couldn't help. When I emailed my concerns, I received a email response that the email was no longer valid. And wouldn't you know the phone number that you have to search for is disconnected. I should have known when no one in health care, social services are even government services have any heard of Elder Helpers. If it's too good to be true, it is!

I was searching for someone who could help out my mom on the weekends, she is 84 and needed help cleaning. I could not afford to help her and live to far away to do it myself, but this website got me someone who could help her right away. The best thing about it is the person is a volunteer.

Great site was able to find help for mum and dad with gardening and errands. I would recommend to others. Only downside is a friend of mine tried to use it but no helpers where avaialble where he is which is a bit rural

All new kind of service so it is probably why it is getting so many fake reviews from people who have obviously not used the site. My name is Jill W. And I have found good volunteers through the site after an easy search and a couple of phone calls. I signed up for a month at first and then switch to a year to save. The customer service is blazing fast and to the point and the volunteers I work with absolutely wonderful people. Thank you to whoever came up with this service and to the volunteers listed on the site.

My elder helper was encouraging and wise, giving me the advice and support I needed to stretch my wings and try something new. I never knew my grandparents so this sort of connection with am elder is priceless to me.

I have not received the packet or even been able to place the order for it. So far it has only taken my donation and now the site seems to be locked up or repeating these steps, 3rd time I have had to fill this form out to try and submit.
I would be happy to revisit this and write a review once I am able to move forward.

Knowing I have transportation for appointments is a great relief. My husband and I appreciate the service and have found the volunteers to be very caring and considerate and will help when we need help.

Great organization doing an awesome job helping the elders. It lets you do a great service for the people that have raised us and sets an example for future generations. Thank you for the opportunity to help!

I was blessed to have an elderhelper who became involved with both my parents. She became a friend to them and visited them in their home regularly. She helped them when I had to be out of town. I have since moved my parents to separate care facilities and our elderhelper continues to visit them to play cards or provide companionship, Thank you for providing a service that has been such a help.

This was my first time using Elder Helpers. I am very disappointed. 1 person was very rude to me on the phone, the other volunteer hung up on me when i told them who i was. I wont be using this service to help my mom. Not feeling comfortable leaving my mom with this service.

I went online to find an organization to volunteer my time and experience. However after applying this organization stated I much pay 50.00 dollars to volunteer my time. There is no way I am paying for my time. I rate your organization a zero

I have been trying for months now to get help for my elderly Aunt and Uncle. They live in another state and I can't help them and they have no one near them. I can not find a helper. I have called and called. Got disconnects, no answer or they no longer do this. I asked for help from the home office or a refund. I got neither.

I've been a 'member' or volunteer with Elder Helpers for I think the past 2+ years, and only once has a man, a senior (who along with his wife was looking for a person to help with doing their housecleaning) but while he was rather kindly sounding on the phone and everything, he lived just too far south from me here in Edmonton, so I politely declined when I discovered that it would take me 3 buses and a good hour just to get to their house.

That was over a year ago, and since then nobody in Edmonton has contacted me about being a volunteer. I'm probably going to take my name off of Elder Helpers because it's just not used in my city.

I had the best time of my life been a volunteer for Elderhelpers. If you have free time I suggest you volunteer for the Elderhelpers. You can register on their website at Elderhelpers.org. You get to spend time with the elders, and get to know them personally one on one.

Reviews are mostly negative from consumers looking to find someone to help with their elder loved one, Many feel scammed. The only positive reviews are from board members and alleged volunteers. Many negative reviews of the organization. I love the concept but seems the many consumers are NOT satisfied based on actual objective reviews.

The biggest RED FLAG for me is that there is NO phone number. Any organization that does not provide a phone number for customers and customers to contact them should be viewed with a high degree of skepticism. I was initially excited to try this for my 84yo mother but am passing based on what I have read and based on the fact there is no phone number, and one is required to pay $50 a month to access the volunteers, every month, whether you get connected to a volunteer or not

I needed some information on how to help a senior couple I know. Elder Helpers answered me almost immediately and have been so helpful. I just wish EVERYONE knew of their serves to seniors. What a great idea they have: Volunteers (wonderful people who want to reach out to others) helping people who need help the most (our incredible senior citizens) - Thank you Elder Helpers!

This is a great program, helping each other and creating real community!
Offering help and companionship to other members in our own communities is highly important, preaching with the example to our younger generations is a milestone in our future! Thank you Elderhelps for this opportunity!

Elder Helpers is my favorite non-profit organization I support! And also my family and family friends support this organization by volunteering our time, to do things like serving meals to seniors and cook a helthy food for them.

Wow. I wish I had read Mary's extremely unprofessional responses to reviews before giving my initial $50; I never would have donated. I want to volunteer because I can't really afford to give money to charities, but I can afford to give my time. I begrudgingly paid the $50, but now it appears that a background check is also required, which will cost additional money. I already can't afford to eat until my next paycheck because that was my last $50. I'm a grad student and have absolutely no money to pay for a background check. I'm disappointed with my experience and wish I hadn't donated to Mary and this seemingly crooked organization. So, my advice if you're considering joining Elder Helpers is simply, "Don't."
