This company responds to reviews, but usually not within the first month
Unfortunately, this life is short, even if it is long. We may all need one day a heart that cares for us and a hand that reaches out to help us. Let us all live in love, safety and peace, and let us cooperate in our worries and pains until the end. I am very influenced by the Western cultures and way of life, especially the Anglophone culture. I love volunteering for humanitarian reasons. I love assisting the others, especially those who cannot depend on themselves like the elderly people, people with special needs, people with disabilities, and children. I feel so good about myself, comfortable, and happy when I offer a helping hand to those who deserve it.
Update: the company responded to my review by immediately placing blame on me, and ignoring the several emails I have sent them over the course of a year and a half. They want me to delete the review or change it to 5 so they can get more people to fall for their scam. Please do not donate to this company, donate to your local community that you can validate with your own eyes and in person. They need it more than whatever this website is doing with your hard earned money. This is my advice to you when dealing with this company, please be safe. Look at the image I attached. The name in the message doesn't even match the name on the account. I repeatedly reached out to them multiple times to stop charging me. I never even signed up for the donations, I had to call paypal to get involved and they said this place had been charging me through paypal as a guest account and that is why I could not find it to stop it on my side. They had to go through several additional steps to get ElderHelpers (more like ScamHelpers) to stop charging me. I reported them to PayPal and I am reporting them to the FBI https://www.ic3.gov/
They are a very good organization of o had the opportunity to help the elders I will with a big open hand I love helping people especially those who cant really do everything on their own Im going back to school to be on a psw worker in order for me to be a part of an organization that can help people to have a better and happier future just like us who have it easier I love meaning a beautiful smile on people faces.
Website is a total scam, they are ripping off the elderly. They only do a background check if the person donates money. If you pay for one month, they put your cc on re-occurring charges and when i told them to cancel the re-occurring charge, she said, please remind us close to the date when the charge will reoccur. None of the names/ numbers on the list are up dated, none return the phone calls. This is a scam on the elderly. Please report this organization to the attorney general, bbb, angies list, etc.
This company is a scam and the jobs are fraud... they never have anything available... It is hard to contact the managers of the company for any assistance. They claim to have reached out to you, but never attempt to do so... guess they want others to think that they are doing something but their not... BEWARE PEOPLE THIS IS A SCAM1

Returned my email very quickly and saw to it that I got the information that I needed promptly and accurately. Truly a great experience for seniors having difficulties with federal paperwork.
I'm a registered volunteer with Elder Helpers. I was matched with an elder not long after signing up, and we've been together for a year and a half. I only gave the website four stars because when I realized there was a fee to sign up, I chose not to. Somehow I was still entered into the system. So the site was confusing. I also wish the geographical breakdown was a bit more granular. I'm in New York City which is comprised of five large boroughs. I receive calls from folks quite a distance from me looking for a volunteer yet have to turn them down, which breaks my heart. The people at Elder Helpers have always impressed me with their timely responses and their dedication to their mission. It sounds crazy, but there are actually real people at the other end of this organization. AND, they support you throughout the process. I am enrolled in other volunteer organizations to work with the elderly in New York. Elder Helpers is the only one that actually cares about both the elder AND the volunteer, at least here in New York City.
I am happy to be with Elders I was looking after my grand papa and I could give him bath and there after he gives me lea-gen stories inform of parables which some times I could not understand
Shortly he tells me the actual meaning, however to compare this days in society no such stories
He died at the age of 120 years
Easy to use. Creating a profile couldn't be easier. I think it would be better if you had a database showing whether there are any elderly folks in my area that are actively looking for a helper.
I just enrolled today! I read about it on Google and signed up right away. I am excited to start helping the elders and their family, and share my happiness with them.
I was so impressed with how quickly the people at elderhelpers.org got back to me to help me. There are so many elderly people that need this wonderful service. Thanks again.
Elder Helpers provides vital services to the vulnerable elderly in Chicago. Their staff is lovely to work with and truly cares about making a difference in the lives of elders lives.
I got to this site via AARP's website recommending it on the helping seniors guide and found it really easy to use and worth the subscription cost. Very convenient and blazing fast email support.
Amazing organization, I got started right away, got my code and called about 10 numbers before finding help for my grandpa. I would recommend to others.
Love it. I enjoy helping elderly woman with every day tasks. Makes me feel s
Fulfilled with my life. From gardening to cleaning I am thankful to be given the opportunity to help the elderly
I am a social worker with a social service agency in Los Angeles and arranged in early 2013 for a client to have an Elder Helper volunteer. I was told that the one-year membership could be canceled at any time and the balanced pro-rated and refunded. At that time, the service itself contacted potential volunteers, who then contacted the client. I received only two calls. Happily, one of them worked out very well, but six months later, the volunteer announced that she was moving out of the area. I contacted Elder Helpers about obtaining either a new volunteer or a refund for the remaining months of the subscription and was told that all I could was go to the website and start over--at a higher rate than what I had originally paid. After a frustrating month of back and forth e-mails with a nameless "customer service," I gave up on the refund. In December, the client died. I followed the instructions on the website for canceling the subscription (which were hard enough to find), as I certainly didn't want to pay again for another year. Our agency just received the January credit card bill--with an automatic charge for another year of Elder Helpers! I've again tried to contact "customer service" and, well, here we go again. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Elder Helpers.org to any of my clients or their families. It's a shame, too, as a viable service such as this one purports to be would be of such great value to our elders.

I have been volunteering in Elder Helpers for almost 3 years, It is one of the most experience I have. I like engaging with elders and render any help that I can do for them.
Immediate response back. They're involved with getting you involved with their multiple services that fit your ability and time that you can bring to the table... so to speak.

Since i've moved to Arizona taking care o my father was very hard for me, but with ElderHelpers i've found the help that we needed, we're so thankfull for this program
I have professionally partnered with this agency and they are wonderful people to work with. They are dependable and trustworthy. Always go the extra mile.
I think this is a great opportunity for lives to be be enriched through different generations; to add benefit to lives of so many and to offer assistance through care and small tasks.
I usually go over to their homes and help them out to whatever I can. My father has a law mowing service and most of them are elders. So I use my elderly skills and help them out.
I have two lovely young ladies that come to my home and walk my Dog on Monday and Wednesday.
They really really help me. I am 76 have some infirmities. I appreciate when they walk my dog.
My experience has not been anything. As of yet I have not had anything to help with. I think it would be great to have an opportunity to help someone.
Don't listen to the reply of this message. This website is a scam to make money off of volunteers and take advantage of the elderly. I don't see anywhere that I can "log hours" and yes I did find someone to volunteer with but there is no way I am telling you all my name or hers. They are over charging her and are RUDE to her. And the point of VOLUNTEERING is GIVING, you should not pay for mileage for a willing volunteer. My elder is going to be sooo upset when she finds out that this is going to be an horrible disaster to try and cancel her membership. I like how the replier, replied to someone and suggested they know who the person was and said they "abused the website". How do you know who that person is on a review site? YOU all are the one doing the abusing. I hope you guys get a class action law suit and you have to pay back every penny to anyone who has ever been charged by this "service". Why in the world would someone continue wanting to be charged after they have already found their volunteer? I'm so sad, because I am really happy my elder found me and then I realized what a horrible "organization". Wow, taking advantage of the elderly, that's really classy. Sorry, this is a bit of a rant because I am so upset about this.
Because we have a huge pool of volunteers nationwide for elders and their families to choose from, we recommend you making your profile as appealing as possible and getting on board with our VIP volunteer program. With elderhelpers.org volunteers are never required to donate money. A simple registration is enough to have the opportunity to give back to the community, gain knowledge and wisdom from seniors. Customer care can be reached at help@elderhelpers.org and SiteJabber offers a useful Q&A section.
Elder Helpers is a user-friendly, web-based service. We believe that compassion at its finest is free. Volunteers register to offer their services based on their true desire to help elders. Elder Helpers strives to safely and conveniently connect these dedicated, passionate volunteers with elders in their local communities. We are a tax exempt organization and the contributions cover our operating costs. Our volunteers are true volunteers. For a tax deductible monthly donation of $50, you can contact as many volunteers as you would like, to ask them for as much help as you would like. We do screening and background checks and our website makes it convenient for you to locate volunteers where you need them and get to know them and the help they are willing to offer. Enjoy the safety and convenience of elderhelpers.org!
We are not supported by any government money. Solely volunteers, elders and their relatives help us pay for the technology and people making this service possible. Contributions from volunteers, training packets delivery, contributions from elders and relatives are handled by a third party meeting the best industry standards and is subject to change. Background checks are handled by www.IntelliCorp.net, a Verisk Company. We recruit our volunteers in reputable places and carefully screen all users. This service is new and innovative, we strongly encourage any visitor of this page to educate themselves by reading our FAQs at www.elderhelpers.org/faq and contact us via email for more information. Thank you.
Elderhelpers.org started in May 2010 to match volunteers with elders in need of help within their own community.
In the middle of June 2015, we have decided to stop offering a refund policy since it was rarely respected by our users. We switched to a third party meeting the best industry standards to offer tax deductible donation receipts, easy cancellation, and increased security.
We now only let informed people about our service (having read our FAQs carefully, and checked our listings of volunteers themselves) join our community. Each user gets access to our safe and convenient service for a small monthly contribution. We do not offer refunds anymore. There is no more subscription, monetary contribution is now considered a donation. And it is tax deductible!
People joining our community are asked to be patient, nice to our volunteers, and to report wrong and disconnected phone numbers to us, which is the only way that we can keep a database clean and up-to-date. This website is user supported: volunteers give their time and when they can donate money, elders and their relatives participate fifty dollars a month, and report their results to benefit the entire community of users.
