Absolutely ridiculous customer service.
I purchased an all in one printer from Amazon for my office 6 months ago. It worked fine for 6 months and then began screwing up printing color as well as black & white.
I contacted Epson (need to take time off work to do so because Epson Tech Support hours are 7AM-4PM Pacific time Monday to Friday so if you're a working stiff like me you need to take time off work to waste your time calling their absolutely useless tech support agents after having paid a lot of money for their product). This is the process you need to go through to contact tech support:
- Call and wait 20-30 minutes on hold to speak with someone. Describe the issue.Get a case number. Then hang up.
- Email them your proof of purchase, a picture of the serial number and the ink tubes that are barely visible.
- Call them back and wait another 20-30 minutes until someone answers.
- Give them your case number and wait for them to render judgement.
In my case when I called them back they said the warranty on my printer is now null and void because non Epson parts or ink was used.
This is absolutely false! Along with the printer I purchased OEM Epson ink and only used that and nothing else.
Still, Epson insisted my warranty was null and void and suggested I contact the company who sold it to me.
I called Amazon and they said there was nothing they could do about it since their 30 day return policy had expired.
I now have an $800 piece of garbage in my hands.
NEVER AGAIN EPSON. JUST CANCELLED MY PRIME MEMBERSHIP. NEVER AGAIN AMAZON AS WELL!
I had a wonderful and dependable Epson printer for over 10 years. It finally reached the end of its lifespan, so I went with Epson again. Has been a total nightmare! 4 different printers later, none of them would EVER connect to wifi except 1 for about 1 hour and then it quit, 1 the size of a VW bus that they said was for my home office, and 3 with various hardware failures, 8 trips to post offices or dragging heavy boxes back and forth. On hold for countless hours dealing with the continuous issues. They will not just refund my initial money and let me find a better product elsewhere. Very poor customer service. WARNING! DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE PIECES OF CRUD. I would give them 0 stars if that were possible.
I am on my third Ecotank printer under warrantee. Each time they hold $170 on my credit card while I have to ship back the old one.
They have wasted so much of my time it's embarrassing. Don't Do it.
Bought an Epson ink cartridge(black and color). Used my printer very little, 15 days later black ink cartridge stopped working. Phoned for a product replacement. (Just the black ink cartridge). Got the run around from customer service. They referred me to technical support but of course they never answer their phone. Contacted customer support again. Same song and dance. I will no longer buy anything from this company. Their customer support center is #%#*. Dwayne.
I bought an Epson lable printer -ColorWorks C7500G-for $8500 a year ago. The printer was always buggy, going through a "Head Maintenance" cycle for upwards of 30 minutes when I turned it on, wasting huge amounts of ink. I sent it in, under warranty, to Epson, and they refused to repair it under warranty AND as a paid service because I used non OEM ink. I was willing to pay to have a new printhead, and they refused. Now I'm out $8,500 with no possible way to get the printer repaired (as they won't sell parts either). I highly advise anyone to avoid Epson printers due to their horrible customer service and unimaginably belligerent repair policies.
I've purchased 3 of these and returned 1 so far. The connection with WiFi is unreliable and the scanner is right next to the router. In addition to unreliable connectivity (it cuts out scanning in the middle of jobs), the scanner very frequently jams causing 10-20 seconds of lost productivity in the middle of a scan job and then sometimes the scanner does not recover so you have to start the scan job all over again. The one I returned would not connect to the WiFi at all. The other one is with my bookkeeper and she isn't impressed either. I will be looking for replacements for the 2 we have for something more reliable and robust. This is a beta unit at best. I have a very busy bookkeeping and payroll business. We need to scan hundreds of receipts per day. I am a highly accredited software engineer. You can look my profile up on LinkedIn. I hold a masters degree in computer science and a bachelors in information technology. I have supported scanners and printers for over 4 decades in my career. Your product is not what it promises to be.
Steve C's review here doesn't belong--he's reviewing the product, not the site. Moreover, his assertion that "Nobody really can compete" is ridiculous unless he's made a thorough investigation of all competing products, which is not credible.
My review is of the site, as used for support. The written support is pretty good. But think hard before you phone for support. The level 1 support personnel (the ones who take your call) are almost universally clueless, and will take an unbelievable amount of your time, which may or may not solve your issue. The level 2 personnel (to which level 1 can connect you) may be better, but don't depend on it.
I speak from sad experience with my XP-420 printer, which although I rarely need to use it has necessitated a dozen support calls in just a few months. Every time I call I'm kept on the phone for close to an hour or more.
Had issues with my Epson printer clearing its print heads after printing only 202 pages on the printer. After searching for a contact number for Epson, I finally got someone on the phone, and there was a clear communication issue. I wasted tons of ink and hours of my time trying to resolve the issue. Epson offered no solutions, and I was told they could not help me. Complete waste of my money and time.
I called Epson this morning because my printer did not print. They told me to clean the print heads and then do a test. It still did not print. The test showed all the colors printed well but the black didn't. They still had me change 2 of the 3 colored print cartridges but it did not help at all. When I finished the unsuccessful procedure they had suggested, I checked the ink level in the printer. It showed that none of the inks were anywhere near full- not even 3/4 full. They were about 20%; 30%; 40%; 55%; and 60%. That is with 4 new Epson cartridges installed this morning and no print jobs done other than the test which is tiny.
Bought a large format printer that arrived defective. Company is refusing to replace it because it's "too big", and they keep telling me to try setting that I already have and they clearly don't fix the problem. Customer service people are not keeping their communication up, and just ghosting me after telling me that they'll call back or email me. After spending thousands of dollars with them, I thought I'd at least get some sort of resolution, but at this point I just feel scammed out of my money by a giant corporate monster that has zero accountability for their defective products. Absolutely don't recommend doing business with them.
In the photos you can see that the printer randomly stains my photos with red tint, and there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, and absolutely no way to fix it from my side.
Answer: Epson ET-5880 printer worked great for a year and 5 months but is now failing. Epson support is not replying to ink rebate emails or warranty problem.
Answer: I have all these same problems with Epson and am still looking for the answer.
