I never leave reviews, but I felt compelled to write something and warn people here. Whatever you do, don't order from their online website. I ordered about a month ago and they printed my shipping label promptly... only to have it sit in the warehouse. I'm not even sure if the order even exists or if they just printed a random shipping label to trick me into believing it went out. I was told that they understood my concern and empathized with me... but that it had been shipped. I honestly believe that the customer service rep was just reading a script and had no idea what she was even saying. I'll just have to do a charge back with my bank -- stay FAR away and order with staples or a dealer.
Nobody really can compete with epson printers for the semi-professional photography market. Canon is trying but sadly their inks/papers just do not meet the criteria that epson has created for itself over the years. I highly recommend their higher end printers and have the 3880 myself. Inks are a little pricey but if you want you can buy 3rd party inks or papers but IMO those are not as good as the epson originals. I will say do not buy the inks here, but instead do a bing search for epson inks and get it cheaper. I would recommend buying the printers here because they will offer you a warranty and for printers I think that is essential as the drum or something is always going to break if you use it enough.
Epson ET-5880 printer owner
"Unlmited free ink for 2 years" is not true.
Epson support: has not replied back regarding ink rebates, nor have they replied back regarding low printout quality.
I can't say that the overall quality of their printers is that great. I hav had 5 Epson printers and 4 of them stopped working within 3 years. Two of them stopped working within the warranty period and Epson replaced them immediately. However, they were replaced with remanufactured which is standard procedure in the industry. I received the replacement in two days.
To quality! A little slow receiving info. From my computer, but the speed that it prints makes up for that! Would highly recommend this scanner/printer for any home or small business! Dale
Have 2 epson units, really happy with them for a few years. One developed an issue feeding ink from the cartridge and support is basically non-existent. Sad.
Epson did an update so that it will not take replacement ink cartridges, it will only take the epson brand. Those FN things are $60 vs the no-name brand at $32. I finally ran out and not paying $60 for their ink. I found canon printer on sale for $49 with the ink. $11 cheaper than epson ink cartridges. So better to just replace the whole thing for cheaper especially when u have to buy ink again in a month or two. I have bought the no-name brand spent the $32 on it and it will not take it. So now im out $32 also cause store wont take it back cause its used now. DO NOT BUY EPSON ANYTHING.
Epson Ink Scam
First off stay away from any printer that has a "Maintenance box" as all it does is waste your ink and money by design!
I just replaced the Magenta and Yellow ink cartridges and as the pic shows I still had some ink in the Black and Cyan cartridges before I did. After replacing the two, the printer does some "Maintenance" then tells me to replace the Cyan ink cartridge as it is now empty, so since it won't do anything unless I do, I replaced it. It does its "maintenance" again, now the black cartridge is empty and the two I just replaced are a quarter gone. Again, it forces me to replace the black cartridge, so I did, more "maintenance," now the Magenta and Yellow cartridges are half empty and the cyan cartridge is a quarter empty. Not one thing was printed yet the two cartridges I just replaced seconds earlier are half empty and the other a quarter empty.
I will never buy an Epson printer again and I will do everything I can to avoid a printer with a "maintenance box" scam built in, just call it what it is EPSON… an ink reservoir that we've designed into the machine to make you waste a lot of ink and money, but it is okay as it is for your printers benefit to flush out the printer heads and buy more overpriced ink.
It is unfortunate that so many corporations have adopted such unethical business practices all for the bottom line… Yes, capitalism breeds such small greedy minds.
This company should be sued!
I have an Epson WF-4740 Workforce Pro machine that has a failed scanner function. This device is just over a year old and I have used the scanner function sparingly, it is used mostly for printing an copying. When the scanner function stopped working, I called Epson support and was told that it is a hardware issue with the machine. I was told that since I was just out of warranty that I would have pay big bucks to get it fixed - that I may want to consider just buying a new one because that would be cheaper. Way to go Epson! It's a problem created by you and yet you refuse to make good on it. This will undoubtedly be the only Epson printer I ever buy! I highly recommend buyers to stay away from not only this model, but Epson overall. What good is a company that won't fix a problem created by them?! You want to charge me to fix your malfunction?! Goodbye!
Multiple false error messages, "No Paper" when paper tray is full to the max, "Offline" when connected manually. Etc, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN EPSON PRINTER
Answer: Epson ET-5880 printer worked great for a year and 5 months but is now failing. Epson support is not replying to ink rebate emails or warranty problem.
Answer: I have all these same problems with Epson and am still looking for the answer.
