BAIT AND SWITCH
February 28, 2015

I never ever write reviews but my experience with faregeek is beyond appalling that I have to make a stink. Maybe the company will be put out of business and the scam artists will be jailed.
I booked a ticket and also got confirmation email. A week later, I got the cancellation email. I called my the company and waited 35mins to speak to somebody who said that they didn't push through with the booking since the price increased. I debated with him for an hour since he kept putting me on hold and he said there was no supervisor to review the case.
My point was how come they emailed me a confirmation but waited A WEEK to cancel it. They could have told me immediately and I would have gone elsewhere. The fool told me how come I waited a week to call them. How is it possible to call them sooner since I can't predict that they will cancel it a week later? Then the guy BERNARD said he will give me a "discounted" rate, which was $200 more than the original price because he said the prices went up. Of course after a week, prices go up! To top it off, his "discounted" rate is actually still $50 more than if you actually booked directly with the airline. How much more if he didn't give me a discount?!
THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM! And they get away with it as evidenced by all the reviews here. HOPE SOMEBODY TAKES LEGAL ACTION IN PUTTING THEM OUT OF BUSINESS!

I am a fair balanced consumer that rarely makes complaints but based on my experience with faregeek.com, I had to share so others don't get screwed as bad I did. I booked a flight with them two weeks ago then I get an email stating that the my tickets were cancelled. I called the airline and they told me that the tickets were never purchased and faregeek.com just put a hold request for the tickets but never completed the transaction. So I then called faregeek.com and after one hour on the phone, they said the airline rejected the booking because they didn't like the price. Right now prices were up $200 higher than two weeks ago. I called the airline back, but there was nothing they could do because faregeek didn't actually follow through. You'd expect that when you buy tickets, you'd get them. I have never seen such an unfair and illegal way of operating a business as faregeek.com. They take your credit card and make you think you have tickets and then never actually contact the airline to get the tickets. Airline confirmed that this company never completed the transaction and it timed out.

They confirmed the flight by email before I even knew it was done. Didn't even let me chose my seats. Getting a hold of customer service is ridiculous.

HORRIBLE COMPANY
February 25, 2015

I booked my flight on Saturday, February 21 and got an immediate confirmation stating my flight was confirmed. After 10 mins, I get a follow up email stating there was a credit card mismatch. I tried calling them several times for the next 48 hours, waiting from 30 minutes to 1 hr and still could not get a hold of a customer service representative. Someone finally emails me stating the flight increased from $765 to $815. I told them that I will only authorize a payment with the original booking price and I haven't heard from them yet.

I ordered online from this company, faregeek.com, on Saturday 21,2015. I quickly received an email that my status was Confirmed.
On Wednesday evening I received an email that my "confirmed booking was on hold because of fare expire". A much more expensive option was offered. I called, only for them to tell me that there was nothing they could do. Excuses about the time it takes for the airline to get back to them was given to me. Hogwash.
By the way, the company is located in INDIA.

I booked a flight from Toronto to Zurich over 2 months ago. I received a confirmation with a ticket number. Tonight, from my hotel near the airport, I tried to print my boarding pass and I was unable to do so. I called the airline and they told me that the problem was the ticket seller. After waiting for over 30 minutes on hold, the agent told me that they cancelled the ticket. They did this without notifying me. The agent promised to book a ticket and call back within 30 minutes. It's been an hour and no call back. To catch my flight I have to pay double the market price 2 months ago.

I also used the email which says "If you require urgent assistance after hours, please email us on *******@faregeek.com as we monitor our emails 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will answer your email within 10 minutes." No response in over 2 hours.

Try calling them and you will wait minimum of 30 minutes on hold. Last month my flight was cancelled due to weather condition. I asked for a new flight schedule. I got a confirmation from their agent but when I was at the airport, the airlines said they cannot find my name because I was not ticketed. I almost missed my flight if I didn't pay again for my flight. I tried to call them millions times and sent emails for my refund but until no response. The offshore call centre agents seem don't know their job and really don't care. Hang up my phone everytime I call.

I found an amazingly cheap ticket for London (LHR) to Columbus, Ohio (CMH). Delta airlines was giving £738 at their website and Faregeek only £563! It seemed like a "too good to be true" situation. All other sites were quoting over £700 which made me even more believe that this can't be right. Did some research and all that, and of course I got a bit worried. My trip was 4 months ahead so I thought if anything went wrong there was plenty of time to fix it. I booked my ticket on Friday 13/02 and automatically received the "Your air reservation (PNR) number is...", status confirmed. No e-ticket as expected and no credit card charge. By Monday 16/02 night I hadn't heard from them so decided to drop them an e-mail. They never responded but luckily the same night I saw a pending transaction on my credit card from Delta airlines. I then followed the link from the one and only email I ever received from Faregeek which redirected me to the valid 6 letter booking confirmation number along with the e-ticket etc (unless it was there from day one and never noticed?). Checked on Delta site and my name was there. Now the sketchy part is that the next day I got a charge from an agency in Birmingham (JTA TRAVEL GROUP BIRMINGHAM) with the Delta charge still pending! Thank god the Delta pending transaction stayed active for 5 days and then disappeared. It's a bit odd though that there is no e-ticket on the credit card statement. For the time being things are looking great/legit and hopefully there will be no unpleasant surprises till my trip commences in June. The reason I'm giving 5 stars is apparently the amazing deal I got. To conclude, Faregeek looks indeed like a very sketchy site to do business with but at the end of the day I saved £175, right? You can't beat that...

The only way out of their gimmicks once you've made a "reservation" is to cancel your bank account. They "contrary to their site info" are NOT available 24-7. The scam is to wait out for the rates to go up, then hit you with charges. Since it may be too late to book with another company, they got you. Don't try to cancel, there are fees there too. (not mentioned anywhere). I had to close my bank account to keep these thieves from taking me for whatever they could get. As human beings, you "faregeek" should be ashamed of yourselves.

Worst travel agents ever!
February 21, 2015

First off we booked our ticket from Florida to Toronto. Everything was great. Right away we got our confirmation letter with the total payment being 300 dollars. Three days later my visa was charged two different transactions of 195 which means they over charged us by 45 dollars each transaction a total of 90 dollars. I contacted customer service after waiting 40 mins someone finally answered the phone to tell me that unfortunately there was nothing they could do at this time and someone would be back to me in 5 days. She made me send her evidence that my visa had been over charged because they couldn't "see" it on their end so I did. She ensured me someone would get back to me in 5 days. I made her forward me the proper e-tickets as we hadn't received these yet, I am on the phone with wire Canada right now to make sure these tickets are legit and we won't be stuck in the United States with no way home. Someone best be back to me within the next 5 days with the refund on my visa account. Never book with this stupid travel agency again!

This guys are a HUGE scam! All they do is trying to attract people to their site by having the best rate out there. After you book the tickets with that "best" price they have, they send you a "confirmation." Well that confirmation does not mean anything - it`s not a real reservation confirmation (it`s how they say their attempt to get you that price). So then they call you few days later, after you already think you have your tickets booked and confirmed to tell you that they can not give you the same rate because the airlines raised their price, but they can sell you the ticket for $200-$300 more. So, now they already have your credit card info and everything and their rate is now much more than at other agencies, but you are already half way in with them and that`s how they are hoping you will just say yes and authorize the charges. THIEVES! That`s all they are. This unfortunately happened to me twice with them not once, and that`s how I know that the first time was not just the coincidence, but that`s the way this crooks do "business."

Don't ever book the tickets with them... They don't have any presence in USA. If you want to call them, 40 minutes is a minimum wait time... after they pickup the call, they will again put you on hold for 15-20 minutes. If you want to make some changes to you itinerary, they will try to rob your pocket... They will charge minimum $200 as Agent change+Difference fair+Airline change fee... They will not tell you about agent change fee... They will not send you invoice for any charges on your credit card, they will not send you e tickets which has fair details... worst travel agency... People who posted positive review never spoke to their customer services or never require any changes but if you require to call them... you are out of luck...

I booked a round trip with them and then they sent me an email saying that the ticket was not issue because the airlines the used did not have an agreement and the fare changed because of a glitch in their system. They wanted to charge me 300 dollars more, and, of course, I declined "their offer".

They do not hold up to what they sell to you.

Same experience as most of the reviewers: Booked a flight from L. A. to NY for 303 $, got an email that confirmed the booking and two days later another email, that my fare was expired. Customer service told me, that the flight would be (suddenly) 200 $ more expansive. FareGeek are frauds, stay away from them!

I just booked with a trip from SFO to HK and yes, very skeptical after reading the reviews, but I figured they are a legit company in Delaware plus any issues, my credit card co could dispute. Rec'd 1st confirmation letter after I clicked submit. I called the immediately and the call center picked up right away and was very professional and courteous and informed me to be patient as they validate payment before everything goes through. Later on that evening, I contacted them again, very short wait on the phone and the rep told me they will validate my CC within minutes and ticket will be issued. Waited in the morning and poof, all 3 tickets were ready to go and i contacted the airlines and it was confirmed. For me, it was a breeze and i trust this is a legit business we they been around a long time. For some of the complaints, if you cancelled or change to change dates, a penalty will occur at any sites or travel agency, can't blame faregeek, they are a travel business. I will use them again and recommended folks to try them out at their own risk. I am one happy customer so far, though my trip is in months. I will make weekly calls to the airline to confirm!

I too was nervous about using them. I didn't check this site before booking. I must say that my experience with them has been positive. I received my confirmation within 24 hours and any questions that I did have were answered swiftly. I booked a trip from the US to Australia and return. Their fares were substantially cheaper than even the airline's website. Yes, I would recommend them after doing your homework on checking all available sites.

I used Faregeek to book a recent vacation to Las Vegas. The price was amazing, my confirmation was sent within 24 hours, credit card charged correctly and ticketed electronically. I travelled and returned without a single issue. I will definitely use them again. Their website is easy to use, the communication was great and directions were clear.

I'm writing this review primarily because after booking my ticket through them, the reviews online made me very nervous. I immediately received a confirmation e-mail, but realized my card had not been charged and I didn't have my ticket yet. I called the company, and the man I spoke to was nice; informed me that I would only receive this information 24 hours after I booked the flight, and asked me to call if I did not receive a follow up e-mail. I woke up this morning, e-mail in my inbox, and have been able to check in with the airline with the confirmation code. I was also charged exactly what I was quoted on their website. I was very nervous, but everything turned out fine. My flight is, however, only three weeks away, so this might contribute to the reason that I didn't have the problems of flights being cancelled. I'd be very aware of the bad reviews, but also realize there are some good experiences.
