The breeder quickly replied to our questions and provided details to support making a decision on which option to choose for our new companion. Love our new puppy from Dreamcatchers Corgis!
I have been raising Siberian huskies since 2006, recently I sold a puppy through Gooddog and the young couple almost immediately had buyers remorse and wanted to bring him back. I said yes, of course bring him back, however once they learned I don't give refunds until after the puppy is placed again they began making outrageous claims that the puppy was sick, without providing any proof at all. Gooddog took their word for it and deactivated my account. I have yet to receive any proof of the claims the couple was making. This company is a
"guilty until proven innocent" — yet even when you prove you are innocent you're still guilty type of business. I never even received a response when I sent them my proof of the puppy having the vet check etc before he left. This company does NOT CARE about breeders. Only in if for the money. Even after sending my "proof" that they asked for they STILL deactivated my account and never replied. Terrible business practices and the platform has gone down hill since starting.

-The Good Dog Team
Gooddog is continuously making updates to make it a better site for breeders and buyers to find the breeds of dogs they love making it a safe place to purchase without being scammed.
Love Good Dog, I am a breeder and they do check each breeder to see if they are ethical and breed to standards. They offer many classes that a breeder can take advantage of to further your knowledge on breeding. The breeder will receive certificates of completion. They have webinars with so much information. They believe in what they do and I as a breeder stand behind them and proud to be a Good Dog Breeder..
Heard from a couple of fellow breeders that this new platform was great. So figured I would give it a try as well and applied to become a breeder. I have 16 years of experience with dogs. Applied and waited. Answered all of the questions. While waiting to be approved, I started filling out my breeders page. Putting the pics and descriptions of my adults. Pictures of previous litters and new pups I have to offer. Decorating my page with a special touch and love. Month goes by. Second. I email the support asking what is the status of my application. Next day I get a welcoming email saying that they are almost done with the screening process and it should not take much longer. Week goes by. Another one. Another one. I email again asking maybe I am missing something. They sent me an email that they have been trying to get a hold of me a few times and unfortunately I was denied as a breeder. I don't have any missed calls or texts or emails. So now I am confused. First I was told they are almost done with the screening and all of my answers to the application. And now I get denied? So I figure maybe it's a mistake. I call the screening team to find out. No responce. I emailed. No responce. Sent a text. No responce. Wasted almost 3 month for no reason. Disappointed. This is some kind of a joke.
P.s. While they say they don't allow color frenchies, if you start looking for pups around your area, every second puppy on good dog either blue or Merle. Hahahah. While I had all standards on my page.
Hi Alexa,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that a member of our team was able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program. You can read more here:
-https://www.gooddog.com/breeder-code-of-ethics
-https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dog-article-toc#good-dog-policies
Every breeder in our community goes through our screening process and must meet or exceed our community standards, including our Breeder Code of Ethics and our minimum health testing requirements, before joining Good Dog. Unfortunately, we were not able to move your program forward in our screening process at this time.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We continue to wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,
Good Dog Compliance Team
Our breeder was super responsive and did an amazing job with raising this dog and the logistics for adoption!
We are a Good Breeder at Good Dog, doing business as Shomaisou Shiba Inu. We began our association with Good Dog in February 2019. We love that the staff at Good Dog have so much passion around building a better community of breeders and puppy buyers and that they spent so much time learning from breeders what it takes to be a Good Breeder then build on that feedback. Requiring all breeders to perform health testing on their breeding is one of the most important requirements to us. Good Dog did such an excellent job of making it easy to accept and manage applications that we abandoned our legacy website where our application resided, and we pointed our domain http://shomaisou.com to our Good Dog portal instead. Good Dog does all the heavy lifting for us now when it comes to managing applications. Other things we value are the mediation services, contract templates, code of ethics, breeder and buyer education. The webinars are included some of the most respected people in the breeder community. We get more applications for puppies and adult dogs than can be processed. We must pause applications because we can't screen them all (We also maintain an AKC Marketplace presence. The quality of the puppy buyer is much better at Good Dog). We value that Good Dog partners with clubs and offers grants to help improve dog breeding. In our case we (Heart of Dixie Shiba Fanciers) utilized a grant in 2021 to sponsor the enrollment of dogs into a genetic study of glaucoma in the Shiba Inu at Penn Vet, University of Pennsylvania. I can't imagine managing our kennels without Good Dog.
We are so lucky to have you as a member of our Good Breeder community, Rex! We're so glad our platform has been able to help you and your program in so many ways!
Great business. Anytime I need them they are fast to reply back to me. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
I like how easy the website is but unfortunately have not had any success with selling any of my puppies from this litter or no interest at all.
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for reaching out! We work hard to help connect our breeders with great potential buyers so they can find amazing homes for their pups
The breeder reached out to me right away. I felt safe talking with them and the overall experience was beyond my expectation.
Good Dog is not a reliable website. They do not properly vet their breeders, many of whom are exploitative and view dog breeding as little more than a commercial enterprise. My wife and I experienced considerable emotional and psychological trauma after an unreliable breeder pulled out of an arrangement on the scheduled pick-up date. I'm retrospect, it was sketchy from the start since we were unable to meet the puppy in advance or see the conditions in which the puppies were weaned, etc. Rather, all we received following our initial deposit was a few texted pictures and videos of the dog we were trying to adopt. Eventually, the breeder became increasingly erratic and unresponsive, pulling out of the transaction at the last minute. In a final act of desperation she even tried to have us meet her at a random gas station to drop off the puppy. It was extremely unprofessional, and needless to say, personally heartbreaking for us since we had built up an emotional connection to the puppy over the month since we first put down the deposit. All in all, I suspect that many breeders here are new and inexperienced—or worse, simply running puppy mills.
I advise all potential customers to do your research! Good Dog is not the best avenue to use. A reputable breeder should agree to have you meet the dog's parents, permitting you to meet them face-to-face, and ideally to see how and where the dogs are born and weaned. Needless to say, AKC papers and vaccination records are highly recommended.
My wife and I learned the hard way! To this day we are fighting for a deposit that was promised to be returned but hasn't been. It was nothing but trauma and tragedy, and my heart breaks for the puppies whose lives are caught up in scams of this nature.
Dear Richard,
Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. At Good Dog, our community and customers are the most important thing, so we’re really glad you were able to connect with and have a positive conversation with one of our Care Team members.
We completely understand your concerns about scams! The prevalence of scams is actually one of the reasons we started Good Dog - to easily connect people with responsible breeders. Good Dog is on a mission to use technology as a force for good to make it simple for people to get dogs from responsible sources. Each breeder on Good Dog sets their own payment policies and contract terms about non-refundable deposits, so we encourage puppy buyers to choose a breeder whose policies align with what they feel most comfortable with.
All of our featured breeders have been screened to ensure they meet community standards set by our team of veterinary and animal welfare experts. If it’s helpful, you can review our standards & screening guidelines here: https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening

All for money
Now forcing breeders to. Take payments only on their platform. Con artists and scams waiting to happen
Hi Katie!
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us.
Good Dog is proud to invest in things like educational resources, discounts, and legal and business tools, all 100% free for breeders. We also actively work to bring you quality, potential applicants from all over the country. Payments on Good Dog are what make all of that possible.
Keeping payments within our secure platform is also the only way we can uphold our promise of safety and protection to breeders and prospective new dog owners. Every single payment is backed by our Payment Protection Guarantee, and just like before, buyers still have a 0-fee option, or they can opt-in to Protection & Support, which gives them access to additional benefits.
We want to clarify that Good Breeders who choose not to accept deposit and final puppy payments from Good Dog applicants can still remain part of our community and access our benefits, but will no longer receive new applications on Good Dog. We also want to assure you that payments through Good Dog and our On Platform Payment Policy are only applicable for your Good Dog buyers, meaning any applicants who apply or message you via Good Dog.
Feel free to email us at breederteam@gooddog.com if you have additional questions!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
Getting on as a breeder was not easy. But now,, I am looking forward to all the classes and info. I hope to see this platform go great.
Good Dog claims to protect consumers by promoting "Certified Good Breeders." Well, I bought a puppy from one of their "Certified Good Breeders". On delivery from the breeder, the puppy was infected with parvo. In addition, the breeder made a number of misrepresentations to me in order to induce me to buy the puppy. I contacted Good Dog to tell that their supposed Certified Good Breeder is both irresponsible and a scammer. Good Dog did a quick "investigation" which consisted solely of talking to the breeder. What a joke.
The breeder refunded the purchase price to me because the puppy was parvo infected, so Good Dog said they "did the right thing." No. A responsible breeder would have also taken the puppy back, and paid to treat it. I got stuck with $10,000 in vet bills, and have a parvo puppy that will have lifelong GI problems. That is not what I bargained for. The breeder scammed me, and Good Dog said they "did the right thing."
Then the breeder posted fake 5 star reviews online posing as me, which is illegal false advertising. I contacted Good Dog again and no response.
And to escape negative reviews, the breeder then changed the name to a different breeder. Also false advertising. I contacted Good Dog again, no response.
Even now, this crooked breeder is still listed as a "Certified Good Breeder" and selling puppies, more than over 6 weeks after I first contacted Good Dog.
Even the breeder realized the jig was up and shut down their website and Facebook page, but Good Dog still stands by them. Their "certification" process is scam to protect breeders, good and bad. Do not trust GoodDog.com.
I found Summer BERLINGER, A Scottish Terrier breeder on Good Dog. Please Google her, she's all over the Internet. She required half down, & the remaining half at 4 weeks old. 2 days after I made the 2nd payment, she called to say the puppy had died after getting dewormer the day before. My vet says he's never heard of such a thing. I asked to be let out of her demanding crazy contract, and she refused, said I had to go through another litter cycle. She never called when next litter was born, I had to call her a week later (no female born, or so she said). Then she said I had to go through 5 litters before a refund! I tried to get Good Dog to do something but they were no help. Even went to police to see if they would work with the police in her city (Good old Las Vegas), but because there was a contract it wasn't fraud. I've asked Good Dog to remove her from the site, I can't be the only person she's scammed. I did adopt another puppy, and that breeder says she never uses Good Dog, sketchy. Buyer beware: 10,000+ people a year get scammed out of money & never receive a puppy. The loss of $ stings, and this woman has no problem keeping my money, she's evil.

I give Good Dog 5 stars. Finally a great site that good breeders can post their kennel info and list their puppies on.
I was impressed with how quickly they responded to a question. Very professional. Very knowledgeable.
I have used good dog for years and for many of my litters. I took a small break from breeding and when I started back went straight back to this platform.
I filled out my information like normal and seemed to have had no issues.
Then I get flagged for wording due to payments. I've always used good dog for the deposits on my litters, but if people want to pay cash at the time of the pick up of the puppy I allow that.
I understand this due to so many wanting to come view and have the ease of cash at pick up, plus meeting me at my farm and knowing I'm a safe breeder. I too am like this when I purchase my own pups.
Yet, instead of good dog reaching out via phone or email to go into depth on why my account was flagged, they froze my account. They then tell me I am not allowed to take outside payments and not use their site, (They get fees off any money transferred) hence my account is frozen. I immediately started calling, left a voice-mail and emailed out to them as well as texted them trying to fix this issue and explain why I do what I do and have never be told this before.
They wrote back via email instead of phone call as to give me details on how I am to accept payments only through them, even as "in person payments". After reading this, I was willing to correct all my information on my account immediately, and wrote them back via email, due to never getting an actual person on the line as many times as I tried the previous day, and they responded again via email and said due to policy they would not unfreeze my account until the allotted time was up.
This is costing me valuable advertising time and is quite frustrating.
You would think for a breeder who has been with them for a long time, they would be willing to help and work with them on these newer changes.
Very disappointed in this site and not sure if I will use it anymore.
This all could have easily been fixed via phone conversation to help walk me through the issue and on fixing it together, yet they were unwilling to do so.
So breeders beware so as not to make the mistakes I did and be ready to be frozen if so with no personal help if the case arises.
Hi Allyson,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that a member of our team was able to connect with you and share more information about our On-Platform Payment Policy (https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/on-platform-policy). As they shared with you, in order to protect our community and company, we require that all deposits and dog payments for Good Dog buyers are completed securely on Good Dog. When Good Dog buyers connect with a Good Breeder, they agree to abide by our Policy, which means all Good Dog buyers understand that all deposit and final puppy payments should be completed on Good Dog.
Requesting or attempting to receive payments outside of Good Dog is against our On Platform Payment Policy, and repeated violations after receiving an initial warning from our team, may lead to a temporary account suspension of one week. During this time, breeders will still have access to their Good Breeder dashboard including the ability to message with buyers and use payments via Good Dog. After the one week suspension has ended, breeders will again be able to receive new inquiries.
If you do not want to use payments on Good Dog, we would be happy to have you remain as a member of our community. Please reach out to us about this option and what this entails for your account.
We hope you can understand that in order for us to continue to provide free resources for our breeders, and continue our mission, policies such as our On Platform Payment Policy must be upheld consistently.
If you have any questions about using payments through Good Dog, please let us know.
