My wife and I recently used Good-Dog to find a dog breeder We were looking for a West Highland White Terrier We were reluctant to use online services to find a dog because of no physical contact
Good-Dog paired us with a breeder that was excellent and very knowledgeable with her trade - Deana Raymond was a very good communicator She text us photos at least twice a week of our puppies progress which made our online experience very physical, the photos showed a loving relationship between the breeder and the litter of puppies
We used a transport service that was provided by Deana to get our puppy from Alabama to Seattle The nanny Amanda also made photos of the trip and kept us touch all the way She was very caring she said that Mac didn't give her any trouble at all during the two flights and was very quiet
Mac arrived in good spirit and in excellent heath with shot records up to date and all of his papers in order Deana called us to make sure Mac arrived safely and told us that missing the puppy caused her to shad tears on the way home from the airport Truly a sign of a caring breeder
Working with Good-Dog and Deana Raymond made our online purchase very personal and exhilarating five stars for alll Thank You
Breeders were honest. I was worried about losing deposit. I have heard bad stories. It was smooth as silk.
We take our 10 month old puppy there every week and also for overnight. We couldn't be more pleased w his care!
Absolutely the best! I recommend!

I was communicating through this website with a Border Collie Breeder in Maine. Breeder's initial communications indicated that she would refund if she didn't have a puppy in her upcoming litter that was right for us. Puppies were born and she misrepresented which dogs she had. She posted that she had (2) female Blue Merles, when she only had one and that one was taken though it was posted as "Available." Went to Maine, 5 hour + drive for us to choose a puppy. Found out only (1) Blue Merle and all ready taken.
We decided that were were not happy with the last choice amongst the females and her practices. Told breeder at least (3) weeks before pick up date for the puppies that we were not interested in the other puppy. Breeder would not refund the initial deposit and an additional deposit of $500 to keep the dog until it was 3 months old.
CONTACTED GOOD DOG- ALL THEY DID WAS CONTACT THE BREEDER AND BELIEVE HER, WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE COMMUNICATIONS! THEY WILL NOT HELP WITH A LEGITIMATE CONCERN BACKED UP BY WRITTEN FACTS.
STAY AWAY FROM GOOD DOG AND: ASHLEY HOLLOWAY- BIRCH HILL KENNELS, EMBDEN, ME
Dan was just wonderful and led me through the process beautifully! I would recommend good dog to all I know and don't know!
Good Dog makes it so easy to get a dog. From finding, communication, to payment. Highly recommend!
Immediately when I completed my application I was notified of my pending application. And Good Dog has been following up with me.
We purchased our male Great Dane pup from a breeder Brittany Smoot in Yreka, CA on Good Dog. BIG mistake! We had just lost our 8 yr old Great Dane and looked at various breeders for a new pup. Unfortunately we decided on one w/ Good Dog. He's been sick since day one w/ chronic diarrhea and GI issues, needs eye surgery on both eyes and remains ill today as his health issues are congenital and hereditary. Eyes, extreme GI issues, congenital ear deformity, and an overbite. Our vet bills have mounted and continue. The breeder misrepresented herself and the health of our pups parents. She was difficult to get ahold of. Didn't respond when she committed to. Vacillated between things she stated and lied to us. She finally told us that our pup had had diarrhea 4 days prior to us picking up our pup and that several other pups from the litter also had health/eye issues as well and stated she should have been more diligent about looking into the health of the sire. We finally demanded a total refund after 3 months, which we received the funds. We reached out to Good Dog and have never heard back even after their statement of commitment. We are considering filing a lawsuit against both the breeder as well as Good Dog. Our suggestion is that you stay away from Good Dog and this breeder out of Yreka, CA. People like this should NEVER BREED ANIMALS and should be ashamed of themselves!

My sister and I both had a great experience on this site! We found amazing quality dogs, supportive breeders etc. So happy to find it!
Hi Abby! We're so glad we were able to help you and your sister connect with the wonderful Good Breeders on our platform, and welcome new pups into your lives!
Found our first dachshund puppy to adopt in January- communicated with breeder weekly as she sent updates and pictures. She was very helpful in answering all questions promptly and sounded very legit. A month before we were to get our puppy she messaged me and said she took him to vet for worming and next day he didn't look well. She took him back to the vet and vet told her to take him back home to be with mother dog. She said he passed away overnight and he passed from fading puppy syndrome. Never hearing about that I goggled it and thought well maybe that was what happened. She said in 5 years she had been breeding dachshunds she never had that happen. I asked if our puppy was the only one who passed and she said yes. She offered to refund money or we could use that deposit to have first choice on next liter- we decided we'd pick another one from next liter. She said they were due any day but after 10 days and checking on when they were coming she said they were born. We picked out another male black and tan because she said there were 4 in this liter. We got weekly updates for 3 weeks because they were born Feb6th. Mind you these messages which started back in January were on a continuing thread on gooddog messages. This past Saturday the messages were all gone and she blocked me because I couldn't reach her in any way- everything I tried to send would not go through. I set up another good dog account through my husbands email and name spelled differently to see if I could contact her through that. It worked- I inquired about new liter pups that she had and got many replies.
This breeder is obviously not legit!, what is Good Dog going to do about my 300$ deposit and fees initially paid in January?

There's nothing like finding an excellent breeder... especially online.
Jill Steuber is that person!
I went through the application process and it is thorough but a joke and yes I could be one of their excellent breeders but would not want to be included as their criteria allows large commercial breeders to be excellent. The health testing for excellent does not meet the minimums set by breed club, excellent should mean at least the minimum testing set forward for a CHIC certificate. They sell themselves as screening breeders but THEY ARE NOT DOING A GOOD JOB OF THIS AS IT WOULD RESTRICT WHO WAS LISTED ON THEIR SITE THERFORE CUT INTO SALES. If they actually only allowed top of the line breeders, they certify breeders that do not do the bare minimum of recommended testing. They certify breeders that are not trying to better the breed. This is a pet brokerage service and that should scare anyone looking to use them to find a puppy as they are making money by certifying breeders. Buyer beware they talk a good game but I would recommend you go to the breed club of the breed you are looking for for breeder recommendations not a website that is taking a % of the sale price. Yuck no better than Petland.
Hi Ellen,
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry that our screening process didn’t meet your expectations. We are always open to constructive feedback and are incredibly grateful to you for sharing your concerns with us.
At Good Dog, we value our Community Standards, but also recognize that not everyone will agree with those standards. We do our best to ensure that we apply our standards and screening criteria fairly to each breeder that we screen. When screening breeders, we take a holistic approach to evaluating their whole program. Our team comprehensively considers many aspects of a breeding program, focusing on five key areas: breeding practices, physical health of the breeding dog and puppies, mental health of the breeding dog and puppies, environment, and buyer education and policies. You can learn more about our community standards and our screening process here: gooddog.com/standards-and-screening.
Also, the Good Dog community is completely free for breeders and buyers and we do not take a percentage of sales.
If you or anyone ever has concerns about a breeder recognized by us, we encourage you to reach out to us by emailing help@gooddog.com or give us a call at 855.446.6336 so that we can look into the situation. Again, thank you for sharing your concerns and feedback - we wish you all the best!
