You should always check to see what the real price of the items are before buying a Groupon. Lot of their stuff is just regular price but with some gimmick added on. Other than that, usually they have good deals. I still buy from them often.
I wish I could do a 0 cause this transaction isn't even worth a 1...I purchased Mcafee as I have so many times before with no problems as well as other items but for some reason it gives me a redemption code that can only be used in the UK and Ireland, yet I live in USA. I purchased on the 11/12/2024 and I have tried since November 13th, 2024, to get help but nothing. Use caution if ordering anything from them I guess customers aren't important once they get your money. I will no longer order $#*! from them!
I purchased a Groupon with a "one day 50% discount". Once I checked out, I realized the location for my restaurant was incorrect so I contacted Groupon through instant chat (since a phone number is no where to be found on their website). They told me they will CREDIT my account and apply Groupon Bucks so I can REBUY the correct Groupon. After waiting 10 days for my refund to my bank account, I contacted Groupon via chat again and was told I was not going to get a refund because I didnt apply the coupon code the 2nd time. I told them I thought the Groupon Bucks took place of the coupon code since I was asked to REPURCHASE the correct Groupon. They said no and and that was it. Needless to say, I was not happy, because not only did I now pay full price for my "50% off coupon", I had to be penalized because there was miscommunication. Groupon needs to have more easier access to speaking with a live person so these situations are avoided in the future.

BE AWARE. I have had close to $3000 in Groupon Bucks sitting on my Groupon account which were due to the fact that I purchased trips abroad and they were all canceled due to Covid and none of the trips were able to depart during that time. Groupon removed the money from my account on 8/24/22 and I am not getting any help regarding where the money are. I even contacted the CEO of the company at *******@groupon.com and no response. Live Chats are absolutely useless. No help whatsoever. GROUPON STOLE MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT

First, I saw the deal written as "$450 for Acuvue Contact Lenses for One Year Supply". There was a note as "patients must have a prescription at the time of redemption" So I went to an optometrist to get a prescription before the redemption. The optometrist diagnosed me as Astigmatism, which I've never been diagnosed as so in my life. So I requested to refund money I spend to Groupon. Here is the exact quote from Emmanuel D form Groupon Customer Support:
"I'm sorry to hear that this Groupon isn't going to work out for you. Groupons make great gifts, so if you're not able to use it yourself, feel free to give it to a worthy recipient. "
Give away? because Groupon makes a great gift? This is not a candy or perishable but $450 worth of highly personalized and expensive product. EVEN WORSE, at the time of redemption, I found out I have to pay the rest of the due from total of $792, which wasn't obvious from the deal page at all. (Actually there is NO mention about the total amount on anywere on the receipt nor fine print.) Considering I was diagnosed astigmatism for the first time and the lenses I purchase was nothing but total waste of money, even worse, the deal comes with hidden due of $342, I felt deceived by Groupon.
After I requested the refund, Groupon's answer was only the one written above. I'm so angry, disappointed by the irresponsible and deceptive company.
Tip for consumers:

I have used Groupon for the past couple years and will say I am so extremely disappointed in this service. This company is a complete scam and do not know how they run a business. I purchased two copper mugs back in November as an Xmas present and got the order finally a month later with only one mug. I quickly emailed and called Groupon and got a response saying " We are sorry and will get to the bottom of it". I ended up giving the one mug to the couple and promising them the other one would be here shortly. 2 weeks later I get an email saying my item has been refunded. I spoke with 3 people at the company and told them numerous times I did not want a refund I wanted the item, but low and behold they screwed me and no longer have the item available. The best part is when I called to inquire the agent on the other line says these mistakes happen all the time and they still have corrected it. This is the second time I have ordered an item and never received it. I HATE GROUPON AND THINK THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY EVER! I PROMISE I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN! Stay away from them if you can!

I use groupon.com all the time. It s a good source of value shopping but you should read the fine print before buying a deal.

What a complete scam. Time is money. Don't waste it here. They should have taken their billion dollar offer when they had a chance. Sad

Sold me reservations at a hotel that was completely full, now Groupon is making me run in circles to get a refund. Terrible customer service
Date of experience: May 29, 2017
I spent the last 2 weeks talking with Groupon and the hotel I booked with to get a refund on our reservation as their was a natural disaster in our area so their water was off and no elevator to use. So they informed us that they will be happy to provide a refund but I have to got through Groupon to do so. After multiple customer service tickets with the General Managers information to waive their cancellation policy and provide refund they send me each time they tried to reach the establishment for refund but was denied approval and can't process a refund. Same automated email each time. Will never use their services again.

I ordered something from Groupon on November 28th 2011. It was a "deal" for an electric car…a Christmas gift for my nephew who would be on my side of the country for only a week during the holiday…. And never got it on time… now janurary 24th 2012…still waiting for it. Actually. I'm not waiting for it anymore. They also made me pay fees that wasn't mention in the deal. I tried calling Groupon they would say they would try to contact the partner company and call me back in 2 to 3 days, they never do. I HAVE TO CALL Back weeks after week and re-explain the whole situation. And STILL they don't do anything about it. I e-mailed a bunch of times… no answers. Never an answer. So cleary they don't give a S$%t about their customers satisfaction. So really Groupon is a Scam. Also when they say they give you 10$ credit if you refer a new customer… they don't. I reffered 2 new ones and had to call them so claim it and they would say…"oh sorry mam, you will see your credit in your account in the next few days" …and never got it. I gave up. Over a month of fighting with them to have my money back. I guess they won. But they lost a customer and i tell EVERYONE i can about how Groupon is a scam.

I made a purchase from ideeli of two Margaret O'Leary sweaters. There was no problem with the order or with the return of one of the sweaters (for which I got a store credit). The sweater I kept has been disappointing as the linen picked so badly afer one wearing it looks years old. The one I returned was returned because it's construction looked like a factory second.
I then purchased a creme color Da Nang silk tunic to use the credit I had. Again, no problem with the sale. However, upon opening the box (which arrived within the time stated) I was very surprised to see the ugliest color tunic, which resembled the picture in stye (with differences) but is nowhere near the ivory color shown in the picture. In looking back at the order it did say Gold tunic but I just assumed that is what they were calling the ivory color (and if this color is gold it is a very badly burnished dirt/olive/gold).
I didn't write after the first experience but just felt I had to now. So I am again going to have a credit which I will have to use. At $10 shipping every time I order I am now regretting my expereince. My advice - although the site doesn't say it please be aware that you are probably getting factory seconds which are flawed in some way. Either that or you will get an item that is similar to what is shown in the picture, but not necessarily the same. I would not receommend this site to a friend.

I've been getting emails from them for a couple of months, and finally got one that had a deal I really wanted. I went to the site to make the purchase, got to a page to enter my info and card number along with how many I wanted. The button at the bottom of the page said something along the lines of "complete purchase". Instead of completing a purchase, however, it took me to a home page and showed that I was logged in. Totally confused, I don't know if I've bought anything or not. I go to my account page and no coupon. I go back and try again to purchase the deal. Now it's sold out. Really? So clicking a button to complete a purchase didn't complete my purchase, it actually got to keep my credit card info and now I can't find a place to delete that info or my account.
Used the contact us email form, described the problem. How can they sell something right out from under you like this? The response:
//
I'm very sorry to hear about that, but unfortunately it sounds like this deal sold out while you were filling out the form to purchase the deal. I do apologize about the inconvenience. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Joel B.

Okay. My response:
//
Wait, so if I'm trying to purchase something, someone can come along and buy it right out from under me? Seriously? How ethical is that? It's not unfortunate, it's unethical.
Sorry to have wasted my time on you.
//
You're not gonna believe what he wrote back:
I do apologize that our website was unable to update quickly enough, and that you feel your time has been wasted. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and keep smiling!

I didn't write a screaming email back. I did explain that as a web developer I know that his excuse was invalid, and questioned his need to be offensive and condescending. But I still want to delete my account. Does anyone have any idea about that?

These guys were so good in the beginning, but they've apparently gotten too big and don't care about customer service. Get this: On April 23rd I purchased a set of three tank tops that sounded really good. I started contacting Group on May 5th to let them know I hadn't received them yet. "OH MY!" said Groupon! "Here's $5 because you're not happy, but you'll get it any day now!" So I contacted them again on May 18th and they said, "Lucky you! Your order has shipped!" So when I hadn't received them a week later, I called their 1-800 number and was told, "Gee! We're SO sorry! If you don't get them by this Friday, give us a call and we'll refund your money!" Today is Friday. I called them again this morning, and the guy I talked to said he'd let me talk to his supervisor but he was away from his desk. He never called me so I called them again, talked to a worthless person named Chrisa who said (get this), there's no supervisor, there's no phone number at Groupon Headquarters, and I'm just plain out of luck. They won't refund my money because SUPPOSEDLY the items are "on their way", and she even said if they gave me a refund and the order showed up AND I DIDN'T RETURN IT they'd be out two times their investment. I have ordered probably 30 different items from Groupon, but no more. They have proven to me that they cannot be believed and that they are NOT there to protect the consumer. It's a money thing. I will never, ever order another certificate or item from Groupon.

I buy a lot of groupons, or used to, recently I bought a bunch of groupons to try out some massage locations. One of the locations had VERY restrictive hours (which of course I didn't learn until after buying when I tried to make an appointment), none of which worked for me. I contacted groupon and they would only give me a trade in. Frustrating given it's of no fault of mine that this merchant would not work with me on a scheduling.
I had also made appointments for the other massage merchants I had purchased groupons for. A couple days later, one of those merchants contacted me and said she would NOT honor the groupon because I had already purchased a groupon YEARS ago. How was I supposed to remember? Ok, fine, I contact groupon, they couldn't care less. They just give me the standard answer of offering trade in and that it is stated in the fine print that this merchant didn't allow return visits with groupon. It was an HONEST MISTAKE and Groupon refused to refund me. So now they will lose out on ALL my business because they want to be sticklers for the rules instead of WORKING with a long time customer a little.

Groupon totally rips off the vendors. Besides taking AT LEAST 40% of the cut, they take away another 4%, and then on top of that take the liberty of running sales promotions every single week, that COMES OUT OF THE VENDOR's hide, NOT GROUPON's, so after a vendor has reduced his price by 50%, groupon wipes out another 44%, plus promotion runs, so the vendor is essentially getting less than 20% of his original sell price. Groupon reps change so often, that you cannot ever get a response, and every new person changes the story, and says 'oh we never offerred this or that.' They also violate their own contractual agreements with vendors by holding back more than the 20% they say they will. Its really a very very very bad deal for vendors to do Groupon, bc they end up eroding their own price, and get very very little in return. Its never made up on "volume", and every deal a vendor would risk doing is way below their cost. Groupon buyers should just stay far far away from Groupon, and patronize the vendors directly, bypassing Groupon. Groupon does not give you a better deal. They are just scamming both you the buyer, and the vendor too. Only entity making out in this is the Groupon executives, who are taking 70% or more of the vendor cost, making the vendor have no margin, and forcing the vendor to make good on deals, that were never approved by the vendor. This company needs to be investigated by the FEDS for fraud, and corruption.

I have bought 2 coupons from groupon. The first one was for a hairdresser, which I rang and made an appointment using the coupon, no problem. But they went out of business after, which I only found out after going to their door 3 times trying to change my appointment, meeting a closed door. I mailed groupon which gave me a full refund of the coupon and an apology. Fair enough, not their fault. I also bought a coupon for a jewellry shop though, and that didnt go very smooth. I made an order (i had to order for slightly more than the coupon was worth for the coupon to work at all.) but ok, i made an order and clicked to pay, and thought everything was fine. Forgot about it, then i got back after a vacation and realised i still hadnt gotten the order. Sent a mail to the jewellery shop that claimed they had mailed me asking me to confirm the payment. But I had never gotten a mail... so they told me to redo my order, but then the items I wanted had increased in price, and my coupon had expired... bah. Groupon said they couldn't do anything about this since the coupon was expired, and I guess it was the jewellery shops fault anyway. So my experience with them is split as I haven't really gotten anything from them yet, but I am glad for the refund and apology. I guess they can also be unlucky with the shops they make deals with, but the customer service seemed good to me

Advanced Movers were to transport a Haywood Wakefield a solid, hard rock maple bedroom suite from our house to our son's house 35 min. Away. First, the movers were over 3 hours late. They would not accept the Groupon ($150) but said we needed to pay $205 in cash (though the Groupon was refunded thereafter). I asked the movers to remove the drawers of the dresser and they would not do that. They wrapped nothing until the items were already in the truck and then protection was minimal. I told them they could follow me to our son's location and they agreed but said they needed to stop at a gas station (with minutes ticking on our 2 hr limit). I thought they might need gas but when we arrived they never drove to a pump. I waited about 10 minutes for them to come back out with cold drinks in hand. While unloading, I again asked that the drawers need to be taken out and again they refused. As a result, the dresser was so heavy they had trouble getting it up the steps and damaged the carpet on the landing. A chip was taken out of the dresser and the boards that attach the mirror to the dresser were never taken off the truck and are now gone. One mover took pictures of the carpet and dresser damage and said insurance would cover this. Yeah, right. I have repeatedly called the moving company and no one answers or will return my calls. I am just sick about this but feel I have no recourse. I appreciate that the Groupon was refunded but am disappointed that there seems to be no quality control. Our previous experience was with a restaurant Groupon purchase (Wild Mushroom) but the restaurant went out of business before we tried to use the Groupon. Other Groupon experiences have been good.
