You should always check to see what the real price of the items are before buying a Groupon. Lot of their stuff is just regular price but with some gimmick added on. Other than that, usually they have good deals. I still buy from them often.

“Failed to deliver theatre voucher”

Theatre voucher failed to appear. After about two hours of online chat we were told the problem would be investigated which would likely take 48-72 hours. The show started in 2 hours. Attached picture shows order still processing an hour after the show began. Utterly incompetent and useless.

Some things you should know about Groupon and other sites like it:

1. It is consumer friendly. They post deep discounts that benefit us, the consumer but at the expense of the business. These websites are marketing tools, the discounts drive the traffic, and the traffic is groupons bargaining tool (we have x about of subscribers who your business will have visibility to in turn for 50% of the face amount of the deal). Businesses who had a marketing budget can take that hit to that budget, but most of the local businesses featured are small and don't have big budgets, and in turn are hurt by making these deals.

2. They are usually not refundable. Once you purchase a voucher, groupon takes their cut and the vendor gets their cut, and if they give you a refund, they are losing the amount that was already paid to the vendor. Due to the Credit card act of 2009, even after the expiration date, vendors still have to honor the vouchers for face value which is why most of these sites are unwilling to offer refunds. Bad for the consumer, but good for the business.

3. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BEFORE PURCHASE. Check out the vendor, if they aren't a business that you would pay full price at, then you probably shouldn't waste your time with a group on. The saying you get what you pay for is true for so many reasons. Make sure you check out their policies, a groupon doesn't supersede their policies, it works in conjunction with.

I will say that I purchased my first Groupons for a diner I frequent because they gave me groupon dollars which made it free essentially. I used one and had a good experience. The next time I went to a different location and found that they treated me differently because I had a Groupon. I called customer service and explained my experience and they promptly refunded both of my vouchers back to my groupon account with no questions asked. So I don't have anything bad to say about their service. I will continue to use them and others like them, but I am also an educated consumer.

Buyer beware! Groupon is great until you have an issue. Worst customer service ever! I have yet to get an email from the same person twice. I have an account. Groupon knows my location. Yet, I was sold an out of area coupon. Groupon has repeatedly placed the blame on its customer, the vendor, but I blame Groupon for this mistake. I blame Groupon for suggesting customers purchase coupons for areas in which they do not live. To clarify the vendor is in my area, however the coupon Groupon sold was not for my area, and therefore the full amount of the Groupon was not honored at the time of purchase. I contacted Groupon immediately after redeeming this coupon, within 24 hours of purchase, and have been told that because I redeemed the Groupon (albeit, for a lesser amount) and my dispute was not settled within three days (not for lack of trying on my part), there is nothing Groupon can do besides giving me Groupon credit, which after this experience, I do not want. As far as redemption is concerned, the Groupon was a service coupon for an oil change, which I had already had performed. When I found out that only a portion of my Groupon would be honored, I couldn't very well have them put the old oil back in the car, so I redeemed what I could of the Groupon, foolishly believing Groupon would make things right. Since then, it has taken Groupon over TWENTY days to resolve this issue, which in my opinion is still not resolved. I have been told I have Groupon credit, which I am not sure actually exists. It doesn't appear in my account and I never received confirmation. However, if it does exist, after using it (which I don't even really want to do) I will never purchase another thing from Groupon again.

The costumer service is very rude. And their site is not very secure. It's easy for your identity to get stolen if you use their site.

I have ordered from ideeli before, but I will NEVER order from them again. I ordered a pair of heels from them on February 21 to match a dress that I was going to wear for my birthday party on March 30. I ordered them over a month in advance to make sure that if I change my mind, I can always buy a new outfit and have plenty of time. First, they sent my order to the WRONG ADDRESS which caused a return to sender, since the address they mailed it to was incorrect. They tried to blame it on UPS/USPS, but why would it be an undeliverable address if the correct address was printed on the label? So I chat with a rep (BECAUSE YOU CAN'T CALL AND SPEAK WITH ANYONE) and they tell me I have to wait until they receive the package and they will mail it back out. They mail it again and I finally receive it yesterday 3/28 (a month and a week after I ordered) AND THEY SENT ME 2 DIFFERENT SHOES! As in, 1 turquoise shoe and 1 nude shoe... not the wrong size or a small mistake like that but 2 different COLORED shoes. Is it that hard to make sure you have a complete order before shipping your products out? I'm now beyond pissed and have to purchase a new dress and shoes before my birthday party tomorrow. Thanks for ruining my 25th birthday ideeli!

I ordered a skirt and top from Desigual on January 27th (Order Reference: *******) as a gift for my daughter for Valentines day. After I ordered I saw the ship date was February 13th. I was disappointed that it wouldn't arrive in time but I told my daughter her gift would be late this year. Well, its March 3rd and I still don't have it. I received a message on February 15th that it shipped with a tracking number. I tried tracking the package but each time received a message that there was no tracking information on this package. On Feb 23rd I wrote talked to someone by live chat. The person I talked to by live chat told me that the problem with the tracking numbers is a "known" issue that Ideeli has with their shipping company. She said to wait 10 business days and contact them again if the package didn't arrive. When I complained that it had been a month since I ordered it she gave me a $10 credit to a future purchase. I waited the 10 business days and contacted customer service again Feb 29th asking for a full refund on my purchase. They said they would open an investigation into what happened with my package and get back to me in 8 business days! That will be March 12th. So I have been charged 100 bucks for merchandise I order January 27th and I'm to wait until March 12th? I am a frequent online shopper and frequently order from Rue La La, Gilt Group, Bluefly, Shopbop, etc. I have never ordered anything where I was billed and 6 weeks later had no merchandise. I will not be ordering with ideeli again.

Ideeli customer service is the worst customer service I have ever experienced! I never take the time to write reviews, but I am so dissapointed that I wanted to take the time to do so.
I ordered champagne glasses and they did not provide any protective packaging and they broke. I contacted them and they said I would either have to send it back or they would provide me a $5 credit for the one broken glass. I live in NYC and it is difficult to get to a post office (no car/far from apt/open during work hours only) so I opted for the credit. I now have only 3 champagne glasses.
With that, I still decided to order again and ordered a plastic makeup organizer. The plastic organizer was also packaged with no protection. It arrived broken as well. I contacted Ideeli once again. They said in order to receive a refund, I would have to ship it back. What a hassle... again! I informed them that would be quite inconvenient for me and asked if I could send a picture and show them it was broken in order to receive a credit. They said they only honor pictures when it is a breakable item made of ceramic or glass. They said there was nothing else they would do for me and thanked me for understanding.
My view is that I should not have to be inconvenienced everytime I use their site if I want to receive an order that is not broken.
Also- in regards to their deals on designer items: Before you purchase, do a quick google search for the same item. You may find that somewhere else is selling it for the same or lower price. Also, the "original price" they display is FAR from the original price.
DO NOT USE THIS SITE. Use Ruelala or Gilt instead. For home goods, try Jossandmain.com. Their customer service is impeccable!

I have purchased several Groupons and while the deals are great, DO NOT TRY TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK, as they only do so within 7 days and are not so happy to do so.

I am actually one of the Groupon Merchants. The only goo thing that came out if it was the advertising. But I'm even now questioning if it was worth it. Groupn is unfair to both the merchant and the buyer. They mislead you on deals to get your money, and they mislead merchants who end up with a lot of angry customers because of it.

IT IS NOT THE MERCHANT'S FAULT! ~ we have NO control over the wording. Yes, we can approve it before it goes up. But a lot of the technicalities slip through the cracks & you don't notice it until its to late.

By that point, groupon refuses to fix it.

I cant say enough bad things about them & how they used me. They are a pain in the $#*! to get a hold of. They took forever to give me my money (Even through the online merchant center said that payment had been made). It was a nightmare!

When my client wanted a refund because I was booked for the day she wanted (on my deal, I had them state that appointment was required prior to purchase). Groupon told my client they were going to MAKE me give her the day she wanted. They have no authority to do that. They actually lied to my client, because they never even tried to contact me regarding the issue on her behalf.

I have a photography company. Groupon worded my deal completely wrong (You aren't allowed to word your own deal), I had to ask them to change the wording multiple times. They kept asking me to lower my price or give them a higher percentage (They ended up with 51% which left me with nothing for all the work I did). They pressure you to put a large cap on the amount of groupons you can give.

They are sly and are only looking out for how much money they get.

I can really go on. I am so mad at them. But PLEASE don't make the same mistake I did. Don't go with groupon, they are other sites that wont try and bankrupt you. And dont buy a groupon either because you will be disappointed.

My product never delivered. I asked Groupon to provide either shipment confirmation OR send a replacement. See the answer below. Apparently not only they did NOT deliver the product, but I have to follow up with USPS. I'm sorry whaaat?
Groupon team, Learn from Amazon.com. Have a look at their stock price exploding. There is a reason for that. May be referred to their processes. It's not only about grabbing payments. It's about delivering.

My recliner couches arrived today and I cannot believe how bad the delivery was.

Advert advised that it would be a white glove two man delivery! Well it certainly was not.

One man arrived who could barely speak english in a huge lorry and spent 30 minutes trying to get the lifting mechanism on the back of the lorry to work when it did not a slight lady appeared out the lorry to try and help.

When I asked if this was their 1st delivery of the day they said no it was supposed to be the man's day off! How professional and am I suppose to feel bad now that the company has sent him out alone in a vehicle that does not work on his day off.

Clearly the lifting mechanism was not going to work so he proceeded to drop all recliners from a 1 meter height out the back of the lorry and dragged/rolled them from the drive in to the house! Well the state of the boxes is awful! I then watched as he struggled to get the massive 3 seater out the back, which had massive tears in the packaging before it was taken out the lorry. The lady tried to help carry this in but you could see it was too heavy for her and both barely managed to move it.

They could not get this into my house as the box was too big and they would not take the packaging off to try get it in incase they damaged the 3 seater! We discussed taking it back but it was too heavy for him to lift back into the lorry!

The lady called the delivery company for advise and then came back to say this is not their problem but mine! (Of course it is! Why it would it be their problem that the lifting mechanism is broken and he does not have superman strength to lift it back on manually)

So as you may have guessed I now have a a 3 meter box standing outside my front door. To help matters I am a 5ft1 pregnant lady who cannot do any heavy lifting.

Thanks groupon for my two man professional delivery! Hope it does not rain while I wait for my husband and his friends to finish work to get here to unpack and check the recliners thoroughly! No doubt they will be damaged (judging by the state of the packaging) and will be coming straight back to you.

I have purchased many things from Ideeli. In general having to wait about a month for products is really annoying. Only having 14 days (SINCE THE DAY THEY SAY THEY SHIP, not since the day you get it) is another super annoying thing.

But obviously those annoyances hadn't stopped me from shopping from them until now.

It's been over a week, and I have sent several emails and talked to at least 5 people on their chat about an order. They say it takes 1-2 days to produce a return label... well a week and several emails and chat sessions with their customer service later I still don't have one. Someone even called me on Saturday to say they will escalate this issue and nothing yet. I have spent at least 2 hours with the chat representatives in the past week - and what's worse is that they just LIE to you! They keep saying we emailed you the return label and if you haven't received it, it's probably due to filtering in YOUR email inbox. But I found out on Saturday talking to the person on the phone that they just can't generate the UPS return label! This is SO EMBARRASSING for a company in the e-commerce business not being able to generate a return label after a week (when they promise 1-2 days) and lying to the customer and blaming them for their inbox settings!

I also am waiting for an order I have placed about 6 weeks ago. Part of the order has shipped a while back. One item was shipped separately and appears to be LOST! I keep checking the UPS tracking and it seems 12 days ago it was being delivered in Seattle and there was an issue with the address! I live in San Francisco, so I am not sure why it was sent to Seattle in the first place. I keep contacting them about it and they say it's on its way! Well even if it was walking from Seattle, after 12 days it would have got here!

Ideeli obviously hasn't got their act together and does not care about their customers after their credit cards have been charged!

SINGLE TRAVELERS BEWARE! I TRYED TO BOOK A ROOM IN MIAMI, CALLED FOR REPRESENTATIVE TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION SINCE THE SITE WOULDN'T UPDATE MY CCRD, ROOM WAS BOOKED FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY & MY TRIP WAS THE FOLLOWING WEEK (RECIEVED SEVERAL EMAILS CONFIRMING THAT DFAILED TO INCLUDE TRAVEL DATES (TO CATCH THE DISCREPANCY)
WENT TO CHECK IN THE ROOM AND WAS TURNED AROUND SAYING IT WAS FOR THE PREVIOUS WEEKEND! THEY HAD NO PROBLEM TAKING MY MONEY FOR A EMPTY ROOM & HAD AVALIBILITY AND WOULD NOT ACCOMPDATE A SINGLE WOMEN TRAVELING ALONE! GROUPON BLAMED ME & I WAS STRANDED IN MIAMI AND IT WAS RAINING! WHAT A DAY! I USE GROUPON ON A REGULAR AND NEVER USED THE REP TO BOOK FOR ME AND NEVER WILL AGAIN!
