You should always check to see what the real price of the items are before buying a Groupon. Lot of their stuff is just regular price but with some gimmick added on. Other than that, usually they have good deals. I still buy from them often.
Theatre voucher failed to appear. After about two hours of online chat we were told the problem would be investigated which would likely take 48-72 hours. The show started in 2 hours. Attached picture shows order still processing an hour after the show began. Utterly incompetent and useless.
I love the site for the huge number of coupons every day. But the discounts is still not so big.

I had a terrible experience with this company back in may 2017, with a hotel we stayed at 6 hours away that was filled with mold and the smell of a dead animal. The pool smelled like a retirement home gone wrong with and over chlorinated piss pool. Needless to say I called Groupon immediately and stated the condition and that we will not sleep in a possible bedbug infested hotel that they had as luxurious on their website. Customer service said ok check out you will get a full refund. Checked out had to pay triple of what we had paid on Groupon cause everywhere was booked. Came back home to receive and email from them that said sorry for your experience we have removed that hotel from our page and we can not give you a refund at their time. Excuse me... I called and called and called and wrote emails and just ripped into every single one of them. Did it help nope. Their reasoning was that the hotel was not willing to give us a refund. So called the hotel manager he stated it was their choice that it was Groupon. Yup the lies this $#*! company tells. At this point I was the official pissed off ping pong ball that no one gave a crap about if I hit the floor, still a point for Groupon. Ugh back on the phone. Lets fast forward to a month later of fighting and writing, they finally gave me a credit on there dumb website to purchase more useless garbage that no one wants and you cant return. But the kicker out of $450 they gave me a credit of $137 yup this was them doing good by me. Now lets fast forward to today! I had only used $50 out of that credit a month ago for an adventure kit which was good. I go on today and guess what? The remaining credit is gone. I fight with customer service who says you have never had a credit... and without warning passes me to another agent who I have to tell the entire story to again and who says the very same thing you have no credit. Im done I will turn these idiots into the better business bureau and I will do so every single day until this company gets looked into for robbing people as bad as they do. Just because you have a name to your company Groupon, doesnt mean you arent as filthy and low down dirty and the people who steal identities and rob people of their good hard earned money. You sit behind a desk or on a couch in your home and smile at the paycheck you have earned off of these poor suckers like me who need a good deal in order to have a nice vacation, that ends up being worse than what you paid for. I dont know how you sleep at night knowing how much you screw people over. I wish I read the countless reviews and the peoples warnings about this site. I hope this stops at least one person from making a giant mistake. If it seems to good to be true it is.

I have been purchasing Groupons for a few years now - since shortly after the business launched in my city. I have gotten several vouchers where the business offered horrible customer service - a cleaning company that kept making appointments and not showing up or a horseback riding ranch that took two weeks to reach only to be told they would not honor the voucher because they were booked up until the voucher expired - and got Groupon credit each time. I have never been hassled by Groupon to explain myself or prove why it didn't work out. I have always got a customer service rep on the line within minutes and the rep has always been eager to help me. So, A+ on customer service from me. Out of curiosity, after the last incident, I took a look at Groupon's business model. Generally, the vendor gets paid 1/3 of the agreed upon rate when you buy the groupon, another 1/3 30 days after and another 1/3 60 days after. This is to help them insure that someone doesn't open a fake business, get all the money, and disappear without honoring any Groupons at all. That said, in all of my personal experiences, the businesses that I had problems with likely got all their money, as more than two months passed before I called Groupon with a complaint. Therefore, I find the vendor's unwillingness to work with me inexcusable! Groupon lost $ on those transactions and instead of being angry at Groupon, I think it's imperative that people write reviews for the vendors instead. I have heard excuses a million times that Groupon is killing small businesses and I call BS on that. I have a small business and the only way a promotion can kill my business is if I don't think it through and agree to provide a service/product for less than my breakeven or sell more promotions than I can support. And, yes, there are those people who rely on deals for all their experiences and restaurant purchases. But, even in those cases, a good experience will leave them saying good things about your business and a bad experience will leave the business crippled. In these days of social media and the internet, information travels fast. I have personally discovered restaurants and experiences that I have gone back to again and again, I tip workers at those businesses well - often above the customary 20% - and I recommend the hell out of businesses that treat me well - even when I don't have a need or opportunity to go back and I am sure I have personally been responsible for at least 2-3 referrals paying full price for each of the businesses that have treated me well even with a deal. So, vendors take note! And, Groupon, keep doing what you are doing! Treating customers well and seeking out responsible vendors in order to continue providing a valuable service.

I placed an order for a groupon 6 days ago. I applied a discount at checkout which took the savings off but when I submitted my order I was charged in the full amount. I emailed customer service immediately afterwards. The next morning I received a reply asking me for the exact discount code and to forward the email that offered it to me. Okay done. Never heard a reply. The next day I tried the online chat system. The representative said the discount code was expired. I explained that it was by that point but not when I entered it. He ignored my case. I reiterated the total I was under the impression that i would be paying again and again. I asked to speak to a supervisor. He kept me on a lengthy hold and then said he would give me the discount in groupon bucks. That was not acceptable to me. I again requested to speak to a supervisor. He ignored by request and proceeded to tell me that groupon does not process refunds. I told him I knew that was false information. Again, I requested to speak to a supervisor. He ignored and explained the non refund policy he claimed that groupon has. I again demanded I speak to a supervisor ASAP and to stop ignoring my request. He then said he would have a supervisor contact me within 48 hours. Seriously?!
After the chat ended I decided to call in. I was on hold for about 20 mins listening to their recorded explanation of refund processing time. You mean the refunds your representative claims you don't offer? That's funny. Finally got another rep on the phone that could not help me because my ticket was in escalations from my chat. She said I would be contacted in 24 hours. Still nothing.
I emailed and explained my frustrations with this pathetic excuse of what they call themselves customer service. I received an email back a few hours later saying I would get an email back after a supervisor reviews my ticket. What is going on? Can no one provide any help or resolution around here?
Again. Groupon you are pathetic. You owe me $$. Quit with the games and do something about it. Your customer service reps are terrible. Your supervisor is non existent or somehow even more terrible than your reps. I've never been more disgusted with a business. I am absolutely 100% done with this despicable company. You guys are absolute thieves.

I ordered a mattress through Groupon on June 4th in which they estimated 6-11 days for delivery which was also sent to me in an email. After I got a phone call on June 16th to schedule delivery I found out that the earliest it could be delivered to my house would be July 11th which is very far outside the quoted 6-11 days for delivery. At this time I tried to negotiate an earlier delivery or even myself picking up the mattress at the nearby facility. They could not get me an earlier delivery or give me an answer as to see if I can pick it up locally. I therefore called Groupon customer service to discuss a cancellation and refund of the order as they could not deliver in the specified timeframe. They kept going back to there policy of only being able to cancel orders WITHIN 2 HOURS OF PURCHASE?!?! After two conversations with the supervisor AINA, I was finally left with no resolution and had to contact my credit card provider to dispute the charges. I recently purchased a home and myself and my girlfriend have been sleeping on a pull out couch ANXIOUSLY waiting to sleep on this wonderful bed that we hoped to have soon. Looks as if we will be purchasing elsewhere and have wasted weeks with restless sleep as we waited for contact for possible delivery. Groupon was one of my favorite sites before this issue with their customer service, delivery process and refund policy. Additionally I would like to make a comment to the fact that I believe Groupon changed there FINE PRINT on this particular item from 12 business days to 3-4 weeks after my purchase and/or complaint and tried to use that as a possible scapegoat. I have the email originally sent to me showing the estimated 6-11 days.

Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
