I've been a fan of Bob's books for a while, and we use his training program for our retail staff to great success. This recent book is no different in its importance to me as a business owner. It's a concise read and is spot-on important for business owners and consumers to understand - Groupon is bad news for both customers and for businesses.
Every time I have tried using Groupon they tell me i'm too late... to bad for them
This is the second time I've been gifted a groupon and it's worth nothing. A $40 massage that I can't get an appointment for until months later when the deal is expired but still group on won't give me an exchange! The business isn't returning calls, doesn't matter, no quality control. I think that groupon treats businesses so poorly that the businesses don't care about the customers, and then we are stuck paying for these deals that mean nothing!
I got a gift certificate for a massage with GROUPON- Massage Works at Level 3 Spa and Salon in Albany, Oregon. The only person who gives massages with GROUPON is a male. There are females at the spa but they don't use Groupon. This was never disclosed to my friends who gave me a gift certificate. The Spa told me to give the gift certificate to someone else who doesn't mind getting a massage from a male. In other words, I'm screwed because he's got his money. NEVER again will we use GROUPON.
Wish I could leave a negative or zero star rating. My husband ordered a cashmere sweater for me for Christmas. We received something in the mail on time, but it turned out to be men's jogging pants. We have since returned the item and they received it on 12/27/2014. Its been over 2 months and we still have not received any credit back for it. Trying to contact someone to resolve the problem has been very difficult. We will never shop there again and will tell all our friends and family not to do so either.
Most things are shipping slow. This order took forever. I have large dogs, they sent pieces of Antler. I would not give these to my dogs, it would be a blockage. The package is 26.00 save your money.
I would never buy from Ideel again. The products were cheap and junky and when I tried to send the goods back, it was difficult to access the print label and it took a week to get a refund. More importantly they didn't have a phone number where you could reach a live person without doing a forensic exercise to find it. Never again!

The reason you couldn't locate a phone number is becasue we don't have a traditional call center. As an online retailer our agents are all on Live Chat throughout the day and are able to assist multiple customers at a time, which cannot be done over the phone. This also allows us to give immediate help to our members while a flash sale is going on, so that they don't lose out on an item.

I wish they gave better photos that you could zoom into to see details or compare them with something standard so you can see how big it is.
I order many many things from this site. They always help if you need it But I'm finding more businesses that reality don't respond our you can't get ahold of anyone. They always refund my money but just noticing it happening more lately. Like they get overwhelmed with the response and just give up lol. Will continue to shop because i love the site. Would highly recommend
I have bought dozens of Groupon offers. My kids make fun of me at times but I enjoy the offers popping into my emails because it jogs my memory to look for birthday and holiday gifts before it is too late. I often check the pricing with Amazon Prime but rarely have I been disappointed with the product I purchased
Don't waste your time. I bought groupons only to have issues redeeming them. The deals seem too good to be true and truthfully they are if you can't redeem them.
I just read many of these reviews and I wish I would have sooner-poor Jason. What a horrible job you have having to clean up messes caused by a generally incompetent customer service department and/or fulfillment center.
This company needs to reevaluate it's "non-traditional" call center into a traditional call center with people who are trained to handle logistics as well as an upset customer WHEN THEY CALL not hours or days afterwards and to h%#! With weather or "high call volumes" due to the "holidays". You are a business for crying out loud! Hire more people! Ever heard of seasonal workers?! No one leaves voice messages anymore-get with the times and the technology.
I love talking to Amazon's or Zappos's customer service centers and will no longer stray from conducting my business with them. I can get a real person every time without hold if I need to do so and that matters more than 10% off. Take a lesson from them.
There needs to be a no star option here...

As an online, flash sale retailer we feel that having our agents on Live Chat throughout the day, where they can assist multiple customers at a time and work on emails, helps get the immediate assistance needed before a cart expires or an item ships. We do have a phone line and will call back, typically within 4 hours, if no one is available to answer. We always look for a Groupon before we go out to dinner, shopping etc. We have used Groupons for years now and we love it.
Ideel charged my credit card for an order that was not even shipped. I've complained at least four time and all I get is a run-around.
Unresponsive customer service.
Do NOT buy from ideel.com. Go to Gilt instead. Or Piperlime.

I have used this site to save at least $100 at a local butcher and the same amount at a local pizzeria.
Can't book the rally day event I purchased as they are booked up and have lost the money. Never use these idiots again
I started a deal with groupon in 2013 I tried to change it in December 2014 put numerous calls into groupon and never heard back from anyone finally got in touch with some person who told me he would change it for me and never called me back finally after more numerous calls and no response I told anyone calling to redeem the vouchers that I could not except them and to call groupon for a refund so finally after a few people decided to call and get refunds groupon calls me, of course because they were losing money now and when I explained the situation to a roman cota from groupon, o and by the way he was my primary contact that I was told he did not work there anymore, that was the reason no one call me back which was a line of grap, roman stated he was going to send an email to the other person to call me but instead I received this,,,, Thank you for speaking with me earlier, and once again I'm sorry to hear that you are no longer honoring vouchers at your business. Since you are no longer able to honor Groupons, we have stopped any future payments. So I will be contactinf a lawyer in regards to this because there should be no reason to hold any payments for vouchers redeemed.
So I hope someone reads this and will avoid dealing with groupon

Please do not take any deal from this website. I ordered a product which says that it will be delivered in 7-8days. They delivered the product after 1month..
I've been to a number of restaurants with a friend who uses groupons, and they're NEVER worthwhile.
First, the day is almost always limited to Mon-Thu - that's not too bad, though, as that's at least made clear up front. However, it is also almost always the case that the menu offerings are restricted (in ways often not made clear) and that, when all is said and done, we'd have been better-to-much-better off, in terms of real value, NOT using the groupon.
IN PARTICULAR: Keep in mind that, since you've essentially paid beforehand, the restaurant has much the upper hand in terms of what it decides to dole out in the way of value. For example, we used a groupon for a 'tasting menu'. Although we paid $65 each, the portions were ridiculously small, and it was completely clear from the menu and from the people around us that we'd gotten a pretty lousy deal.
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?

Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.

Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!

I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.

If he contacted Customer Service to get the proper label for a wrong item, the refund should have been issued within five business days of the item being received back by us. If they weren't contacted and return label was created through his account, that would likely be the reason for the delay since our returns team can't check in a wrong item unless it's marked by Customer Service on the return slip.
