For exactly 120 for a couples massage was not reflected on my account. I contacted groupon and gave them the order number in question as well as screenshots of my confirmation email. Instead of inquiring on the issue they refunded a second groupon voucher I bought for a movie ticket in the amount of 26.45 when I paid 29.45 and skipped out on paying my 3 additional dollars. When I contacted them a third time, my email was blocked. I would have been fine calling and explain this issue but there is no customer service number. Beware of the bs. Groupon is sketchy.
We were so excited my husband was given this as a birthday gift…. The extra expenses have been ridiculous… extra $100 each to fly out from Brisbane… extra costs to sit together on flight… car hire for 3 days cause a very basic motel is not near city, beach, etc…. We were not honoured any of our three Friday and Saturday night options… had to fly out on a Thursday… taking away our income (haven't even gone and down $1060)… gosh I hope our bottom of the peeking order destination is worth it!
It is now gone from Switzerland, but still a good coupon site in other countries. The service and coupons were of perfect quality.
Never received the gift card I purchased, no email, and customer service will just deny it repeatedly
They have nice deals and everything, but like everybody else I had too much trouble with their groupon coupons. I'm not gonna bother buying anymore.
Fantastic deal choices. Makes it really easy to team up with friends, and use the coupons for group outings.
Great experiences from Groupon we bought several items and even saved money on trips! Love it! Always get what you order
I think initial get a deal wave has passed but groupon still offers great value on local products and services.
I want to express my love for Ideeli, as well. They're prices are great, quick shipping, friendly staff and trustworthy!
I buy from groupon but when problems occur, they deny responsibility and send you to the final client
There are times where a golden opportunity comes to buy something great! Otherwise, the other products looks crappy.
Unprofessional. Made me look like a monster and did not care or try to fix their botox mistake. Stay away
To being honest, they're only focused on their own gains and not customer satisfaction. Look elsewhere
Often it is like "gambling" wether you manage to find a good deal or not. Always read the small print!
Technical difficulties makes this site ridiculous when compared to amazon or living social. Hate them!
Purchased a Simmons Mattress that broke down after 4 months use. Groupon will not consider trying to resolve the problem.
Absolutely the Worst Customer Service I have ever received. Was not given option to review shipping and taxes before purchase.
1) They hide behind chat to behave capriciously. Live agents steadfastly deny correction for even the most egregious situations.
2) Recently their backend database crashed. Save the paper use their app defaulted to a snapshot data a few weeks old - old used groupons were available again, new unused groupons vanished. I couldn't use my $15 groupon when the lunch bill came had to pay $15 out of pocket. Later that evening, the current data was restored. Rep refused any credit or compensation for the failure of their IT back end - apparently that burden is pushed on to the customer.
Groupon snapshot attached - attempted use Last Thursday Mar 5,2020@ ~12:30-1:00 PM CST (should fall in the time period of their tech crash). During the pendency of tech crash system message paraphrasing "We are having tech issue and customer service is unavailable" was displayed in app (No phne nbr readily available. Chat and callback optons were unavailable/grayed out. Cost me an extra 45 minutes trying to figure out how to settle bill and probing tech issues to figure out a way. Ruined the experience - otherwise the food and service by the merchant were good.
This deteriorating trend has occurred personally several times in the last 12-18 months. GroupOn seems to have lost its initial launch moxie which is replaced by a mercenary money making above all else pervasive attitude.
Do not buy anything via Groupon where you would NOT be happy with JUST your money back. If you are a Business HEED this WARNING or you could become a ZAZZLE.COM
At ZAZZLE, you can build things like CUSTOM Christmas ornaments by uploading photos, editing them, adding text, etc.
Zazzle gave GROUPON authorization codes to include in our GROUPONS. I paid $70 for $150 worth of ornaments... my family loves Christmas.
Zazzle gave GROUPON March 13,2012 expiration dates. Some gnome at GROUPON entered the date as March 21,2012. So we are there building our ornaments... spent hours and hours... only to find out we could NOT checkout because GROUPON put the wrong EXPIRATION date into the GROUPON COMPUTER.
GROUPON refunded by $70 and told me to go take a hike on the $80... leaving me still wanting my ornaments and $80 short because of a VERIFIABLE GROUPON ERROR.
This probably happens more than we know. Had I bought discount car washes, hadn't used them, and got a refund - that would have been fine.
ZAZZLE has had to deal with unhappy customers... and they did not get properly paid. GROUPON has ZERO understanding of customer service.
PLS save yourself the headache - never buy a GROUPON where you do WORK before you cash it in... it could cost you $80 on TOP of the $70 you paid - to recould your lost time.
IF there was an option for zero stars I would review it that. Let me begin by saying that for the past four years I was a loyal groupon customer. I bought everything from restaurant vouchers, goods, even vacations frequently. In the last year especially customer service has taken an extreme nosedive. In february we booked a trip to Cambridge which because of the four foot storm had to be rescheduled. We called three days before the forecast to try to either change the date or refund the groupon. After three days of dealing with inept, rude customer service reps that played "pass the buck" for an uncontrollable natural disaster the HOTEL finally took mercy on us and honored our groupon price so we could rebook. We would have eaten the groupon otherwise, and this was after years of loyal busiworness and advance notice, and an uncontrollable natural disaster which made it illegal for us to travel the roads- we were rudely told by a customer service rep that we could still travel if we wanted to chance it. It was barely worth the aggravation and I was shocked that such a well known company would treat a loyal customer this way. We let this go, but recently three tablets were purchased on black friday. Order confirmation was emailed, and when I checked website it stated "shipped' when I clicked on tracking 20 days later (said 12 BD for shipping) I got a message that states "oops order has been cancelled". NO email informing us of this, no refund yet. Partially paid with a gift card, so that doesn't sound promising. After reading these reviews I am starting to think that I am in for another three days of battle with teenage customer service reps with chips on their shoulders. I am not alone here. We let the first incident slide as a fluke, but this is Christmas, our kids big gifts, and I am appalled that this is handled in this way. I ordered the same thing from amazon, free two day shipping for only ten dollars more apiece and def worth the grey hairs I'll spare myself from going through this again. If they keep going this way they are going to be out of business soon. Shame on you Groupon.
I usually get restaurant groupons which work fine. Be sure to read the fine print.
In November 2013 I placed 3 separate orders for some nice egyptian cotton jacquard towels. Maybe Groupon was confused because I placed 3 separate orders. Orders #1 and #2 were fine. Order #3 was a disaster. My receipt showed I ordered 3 sets. Correct. My total was $101.97+tax. Looking at my order history I was mailed and charged for 4 sets = $144.52. This entire order was returned but I was only refunded $36.13. Really? On Dec 5,2013 I emailed Groupon to notify them of the error. I received a confirmation email, but no correction. Yesterday, Jan 6,2014 I sent another email. I decided to call today since the 1st email was ignored.
I spoke to a rude customer service agent who told me that during our conversation "I Was repeating myself," that "Yes, he could see that my email was in BOLD LETTERS!" and seemed to be anxious to get off the phone. Yes, he could see the oversight on Groupon's part and confirmed that I had legitimate concerns yet brushed if off and said that Groupon would respond within 2-3 days. And when I asked about the discrepancies in the initial charges ($144.52 charge for 3 sets of towels that should have been $101.97+tax) he brushed it off AGAIN saying that I had noted it in my email - which I had not. My email was referring to the discrepancy in the refund amount. Clearly he had better things to do and wanted to get me off the phone because he would not spend the time to look at the detail of my 3 orders to find out that I was clearly overcharged for the Ivory towels. Instead of "keeping him on the phone" I decided to put my concerns in writing and send a 3rd email to tell Groupon about all the errors. I have already receive the automated email stating that they will try to respond within 24 hours, but based on past history I'm sure it will not happen. I wish GROUPON would FOCUS MORE ON CUSTOMER SERVICE, otherwise purchasing GROUPON products are not worth my time or money.
I purchased a microwave popcorn popper that was on sale. A few weeks later I received a children's ceramic bank.
I contacted them immediately, which by the way, is only through "chat".
There is no other way to get in touch with this crappy company.
The chat person said he couldn't send me the correct item. So I assumed they had sold out.
Oh, it gets better... In order to get a refund, I had to repackage the bank. Drive to the post office and fight with them to get my shipping refunded. OR the chat person said I could keep the bank if I wanted.
That is, for the price of a popcorn maker
I get to keep a check children's bank for the same price. Yeah, my son might want it. I mean he's 37, but hey.
While I was looking on their website, I noticed they still had and were selling my popcorn popper.
So here's the lowdown on this huge POS company: They have computers that process your order. If they send you the wrong item. THEY DON'T CARE. THEY HAVE NO INVESTMENT IN WHAT YOU'RE BUYING.
I don't care if they are selling tickets to Bermuda cheap. I will never shop here again.
All I got out of this experience was a pain in a__.
AND THE GUY ON CHAT, SOMEHOW MANAGED TO BE A JERK TOO.
Wow, all these reviews and I don't see any from those who are REALLY hurt by Groupon, the busiesses. I heard about Groupon a few months ago and decided to give it a try for my business. For starters, actually getting ahold of a human being is like pulling teeth. Theyr're not up front about how much it'll cost the business, either. When I FINALLY got ahold of them, they were terribly pushy about making me offer more & more & more for less & less & less. They don't give a rip about what it'll cost the business. Tehy're a hard sell, saying things like how it doens't cost, you get paid to advertize. B***S***! Are they forgetting that I have to fork over the tangible item, and all they're doing is posting on a website? At what we finally 'agreed' on (I feel it was a petty one-sided agreement), taking what I'd get for each groupon and my cost to produce the item & staff dealing with the groupie, I'm looking at about a $5 loss for each one sond. They don't care. So in hopes that this would get me some new regulars... so now I'm in the 'approval' process... apparently to see if my business is good enough for them! I haven't heard from them in months. I'm sure they'll come begging when enough businesses get smart & they don'thave someone for their deal one day.
Dear Groupon,
I purchased a groupon for a hotel stay from 10/1-10/5; however, when the confirmation page came up, the dates were very wrong. They reflected 9/28-10/2. System issues happen, I get it. I immediately emailed to state the dates were wrong and got no response. I followed up 2 additional times via email, no response. I called the hotel and they stated the dates had to be adjusted through Groupon. I called and spoke to someone who says "our systems don't just change dates, you chose them wrong". I ignored her extremely rude and unprofessional comment and again explained I wasn't looking for a refund, I just needed the dates to be adjusted. Her response was, "you should have read the fine print, it clearly states you can't adjust the dates, you should have requested a refund in your refund window". Again, I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted to correct the dates. I even stated I would understand some type of transfer fee, I get it! I am a single income family of 4 and this purchase was for my husband's 40th birthday and it took me 3 months to save the money to purchase it. We are not able to attend during these days as my father has been diagnosed with cancer and we help take care of him during the week while my mother works. What I am requesting was NOT unreasonable. No one loses anything by adjusting the dates so my family can enjoy a getaway! Instead of being willing to work with your customers, I was told, "sorry, you should have read the fine print, you'll just have to lose your money". I will NEVER use Groupon again, I have several friends and family who will no longer use you and I'll make sure to let everyone know the experience I have been through over something so simple.
Regards,
No longer a customer
BUSINESS IS CLOSED DOWN AND GROUPON WILL ONLY REFUND
50% WHAT I PAID EVEN AFTER THERE STATEMENT ON THERE WEB SITE
SAYS FULL REFUND FOR ETERNITY.
SCAMERS SCAMERS SCAMERS
Ive been a Groupon freak since its inception many years ago. I was an avid fan, buying multiple coupons every week for just about every type of deal offered. It was a fantastic way to get established in a new area after a move. How far it has fallen. Customer service is nonexistent. There is no 800-number or effective live chat anymore. I have friends that post deals on Groupon for their business and they have just as much trouble on that end as the people buying the deals. I also noticed the quality of some of the products shipped from the goods category are subpar at best. Its just not worth the gamble. Call the vendor directly and they will usually give you the deal, matching goupons price without having to deal with them. Its so sad-they are a horrible company now. They are just surfing on their reputation from the past it will probably squeeze everything out of the company they can before its garbage.
The search result information is shotty and sometimes you could end up buying a deal hours away from the search location entered.
It is very easy to buy a deal outside of your area of interest without knowing. You might be unfortunate enough to have purchased a large ticket item, like a destination adventure or vacation package. If you have any issues with your purchase it will take you a long time to get support. If you get to this point at all, you may get offered Groupon bucks in exchange. Great, hundreds of dollars worth of Groupon bucks to buy more crappy deals and get more crappy customer service. I did this in preparation for a trip to Hawaii and it was a disaster. Type in Maui to search for deals in that area and see what pops up.
I ordered a dress from ideeli and they sent me an email saying they were unable to complete the order. They issued a $10 voucher and promised free shipping on the next order I place. I talked to a woman on their chat service, and she was nice while I was obviously frustrated. I asked why the vendor couldn't fill the order and was told first that they didn't send the item and later when I pried a bit more, that the item "wouldn't pass ideeli's standards for quality." Ok. Fine.
That being said, I find it absolutely ridiculous, especially with the way the site is structured, that when an item is listed as "in stock" that they cannot complete my order do to "an inventory problem." I also understand that there is a quality standard, but why would you evaluate an item after you already decided to sell it.
Then, I get on here and a few other sites, and oh my gosh the reviews... The fact is that a website that clearly needs to function on efficiency is obviously lack just that. I also work in customer service. If I had to apologize as many times as the rep Jason Faria from ideeli.com does, then I feel like I would have to bring that to my superiors. Maybe that has happened, but ideeli has no improvements to show for it.
I do not think I will be using either the $10 voucher or the free shipping as I just cannot trust a company that says "we're always looking for ways to improve our members' shopping experiences and are very open to feedback and suggestions" and "our number one priority is providing great service to you" and there are no obvious markers of improvement.
I was really looking forward to wearing that dress.
Hi Evelyn,
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion here on SiteJabber. I do appreciate your comments, and I completely understand your frustration.
One of the reasons we can offer such low prices is because we keep very little inventory; we receive the items directly from the vendor. Unfortunately, however, this means this can happen from time to time. If we receive the items from the vendor and a few do not pass our quality standard, some members may not receive their orders. However, please rest assured that this is not a regular occurrence and we'd rather pass on the savings to our members instead of keeping inventory to avoid this infrequent mishap.
I understand that you feel there have been no indications of improvement. However, please know that we do listen to our members and do take their comments into consideration. As one example, we recently made the transition from store credit returns only to the option of cash refunds per the requests of our members. We have also extended our Live Chat hours so that we are more available for questions as our members shop. However, this does not mean that we cannot continue to improve and your feedback, as well as the feedback shared here by others, is greatly appreciated as we do continue to strive to provide the best service and experience to our members.
If you have any additional comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Best,
Jason Faria

Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
