I purchased a few different bare root roses a few weeks ago. One was per my mother's request, a "Don Juan" red climber. It arrived as what I considered a "twig" lol. I am super new to roses & quite nervous. Anyway, I followed the planting instructions precisely. It's only been 2 weeks & it has quadrupled size already! I'm totally astounded!
Bought two roses (first time)- both were ridiculously small for the price. One did ok- the other never grew more than 12 inches tall and was so sickly I removed it. I have a strict routine of watering, pest control and fertilization- which Heirloom roses claims is too much watering and fertilization. I wonder why my other 13 co-located rose bushes- some of which I purchased from Walmart for $13- have grown 4-5 ft in the same time period. Seriously- this is a joke. I have years of experience successfully growing roses. Only buy from them if you have no other option
The site is easy to navigate, there's plentiful and useful descriptions of all the plants, and service is quick. I got my order, and my items were in great shape and are adjusting well, so I feel that this was a good quality purchase.
Consistency, helpfulness, quality, and quantity of product.
They offer a guarantee for up to one year and will send a new plant but after months of back and forth with them, it's a joke. They don't plan to replace any plants but find any loop holes to get out of it and deny your request. $100 lost! And terrible customer service to follow this claim any further.
I had to change my roses because I realized I had purchased too short of a climber. When I switched them to another, my $20 voucher no longer got applied, but since then they reached out to me and reapplied it. Great customer service.
Great history with you. Roses do well. Delivery process is great.
It's almost *too* easy to shop, which is slightly dangerous for me! But I love roses and am hoping the living soil will enrich my beachside dirt. Thanks for the generous rewards program and the free s&h on the large box of living soil!
Have an account; products are so well described and pictured. Customer service has been good.
Very good experience as always. The roses I have ordered are doing well, and look great! The also have a wealth of information on their website, quality roses and willing to answer any questions you have. Best rose online website around! Want the best buy from here.
Great quality.
Great! Fast and easy.
Quality, selection and care.
I usually do not write a review, but had to on Heirloom Roses. I purchased 4 rose plants, and waited an unknown length of time to have them delivered. 3 of the 4 seemed healthy. I planted in accordance with the instructions, but since it was close to winter I put in pots and left outdoors until right before the first frost. I could not plant in ground because it would not be 6 weeks before winter set in. Over the winter i kept the plants in window and watered. So spring came and put out the plants, none of the plants survived, so now i put in a warranty claim per the instructions on the site. After several weeks and multiple attempts to get information, my claims has been denied. Buying from Heirloom is like just throwing money away.
Tip for consumers:
dont shop Heirloom Roses, products are bad and warranty is worse

I am sorry to hear we have not lived up to your expectations of our company! We try our best to make all our Customers happy. We are not able to guarantee roses if they are not planted at least 6 weeks prior to the first expected frost. Since they are just babies they need this time to get their small fibrous roots established before the first frost sets in. Planting to close to frost dates does void the warranty as stated on our website. If you would like to contact us at your earliest convenience we would be happy to go over your RMA request with you.
I have a wonderful spot for roses w/ excellent rich soil. I am a seasoned gardener.
I have bought 5 roses from heirloom roses
And they were not hardy plants. I no longer have any of them after 5 years. I just pulled the last one out. They never flourished, and they were given care.
Heirloom prices are very high, and their roses aren't hardy. Not a good combination.
I live in zone 6. Not too cold.

Hello Erin,
Thank you for reaching out. We tried to respond directly to this review via the message function, but have not heard back from you. We would love to help, but without your full name, an email address, order number, or possibly your phone number, we have no way to assist. The photo thumbnail you left with your review just turns blurry when we try to enlarge it and we are not sure what it says. Please don't hesitate to contact us. We are available Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm PST at 800-820-0465, by chat at https://HeirloomRoses.com, or via email at info@heirloomroses.com We look forward to hearing from you again soon and assisting you with all of your rose care needs!
I've purchased about 10 roses from Heirloom Roses this summer and they are the first company I check with when I need another plant. The variety of roses is the best and customer service has been helpful. Recently I wanted to add on to an order and was having issues with being able to log in to my account, I reached out and someone called me, corrected my order, helped me log in to my account, and gave me helpful advice about some of the roses. Yes original prices are a bit high, but they often run great sales and have a great loyalty point program. Quality of shipped roses has always been excellent as well.
Tip for consumers:
Sign up for loyalty points
Thank you so much for your review. Sounds like your gardening will be stunning this year! So glad you have chosen to be a part of our loyalty program. It really does pay off when you stack those points. Happy growing!
I received my rose in an awakened state with blossoming buds and was very worried that it was still very cold outside in NJ. But it came to hang and my rose had already grown. I really hope she will be great, because I dreamed about her so much!
These guys are crooks. Be sure to read all their fine print. Their roses arepuny and will not survive a year. Do not buy their fertilizer. Too expensive and will grow a healthy rose. Their guarantee is rubbish. They never back up their guarantee. Go to David Austin roses. You will not believe the difference and your credit card will not get hacked like heirloom roses customers
Tip for consumers:

Wayne, I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience with Heirloom Roses. That is not what we strive for and I would like to help make this right. Could you please email us at info@heirloomroses.com and let us know your order number and that you are responding to Robin. I will be sure to have our care team review your recent order and see what we can do to help fix this.
When you call no one answers for a long time. The message tells you to email for faster response. You email them and they send back a generic generated response. I again attempted to call three more times. It's like trying to reach the government. They're not that busy. They do post on Facebook multiple times daily and email you junk mail about three times a day, but do not care about their customers.
Rebecca, I'm sorry that you have had trouble reaching us. We had several customer care employees out sick recently and then we have been understaffed. We have hired additional support staff to help answer emails. Our customer care team is a different department than our social media team, so our social media coordinator does have time to post to Facebook but she also answers emails in her spare time too! We are multi-tasking as much as we can while still trying to care for the roses in the greenhouses. Thanks for your patience. If you have a specific concern that I can help you with, I would be happy to do so. Just email us info@heirloomroses.com and put "ATTN: Robin" in the subject line. We will respond right away. Thank you.
I received my roses late but it was no fault of heirloom roses. Shipping company had them for 8 days and I was worried about the plants being DOA. Spoke to Sonya at HR and she described how they were packaged and what they prepared them prior to shipping for just such circumstances. They arrived in great shape and all is well. Thanks Greg
Great selection and great reviews
This is my third rose, Good Ol' Summertime, from Heirloom Roses. The healthy and quality of shipping is excellent. The roses arrive without blooms or mature leaves, which helps protect them during transit. And my prior 2 roses had leaves and were growing well with weeks of arrival.
Quality of plants; ease of selecting for features like growth habit, fragrance, bloom characteristics, and hips; own-root rather than grafted roses.
I've ordered lots of roses from Heirloom Roses, and this company does stand behind their roses! Their customer service is great, the roses I've ordered have done extremely well (if there has been a problem, they've replaced the rose), and I've been a repeat customer many times bc they provide quality roses and customer service. Don't hesitate to get your roses from Heirloom bc you won't be disappointed!
I've chosen Heirloom Roses bc the variety of roses offered is extensive, the quality of their roses are beautiful, and their customer service is great.
My shopping experience was very easy with a very good selection of new roses and a lot of old favorites. Looking forward to planting these roses. From past experience, I am looking forward to very healthy, beautiful plants. Thanks!
Very good past experience with your company!
Wonderful selection of roses and the roses I have ordered before arrived in excellent condition. Very easy ordering also. Great experience!
I have ordered before and had great experience.
Don't waste your money. I bought two of their expensive plants, used their extremely expensive fertilizer, compost, soil additives and folllowed their "expert" advice. My plants died anyway. They refused to replace them per their guarantee.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BUY ROSES FROM HEIRLOOM ROSES
Products used:
Rose plants and every product they recommended, including fertilizer, compost, and soil additive of bone meal.

I was disappointed not to be able to use my rewards with the earth day promotion as it was an earned reward. I understand the ability to process multiple codes is coming, which is great! I appreciate the quick response from Heirloom Roses to address my concerns. Their roses are great and I've purchased from them many times.
I’ve bought from your business many times
I really love the high quality, beautiful roses that Heirloom Roses offer! They are beautiful and arrive alive and healthy. They offer advice and helpful tips to get started and plenty of soil amendments. If anything goes wrong, their warranty is excellent and their customer service is very good!
I highly recommend them!
Quick, easy, friendly! Really excellent!
Quality and selection of roses.
I should have ordered earlier. A couple of the roses that I really wanted are sold out but fortunately there were other beautiful choices. The ones that I chose arrived today and look healthy and have already started to leaf out. Let the planting begin!
Had three beautiful roses that preformed wonderful the first year in containers but didn't make it thru the winter. I put in a claim online but didn't hear back for several weeks. I called and spoke with Brittany who reviewed my claim and approved it. Wonderful customer service and nice to speak to. Looking forward to my new roses.

Dawn, thank you for your kind words. We are so glad we were able to help you resolve your guarantee claim. You can check out our article on preparing your roses for winter for great success in helping your babies make it through this next winter. Happy growing with your new plants!
We bought a rose from Heirloom Roses, which died. We planted it and cared for it correctly, having grown roses for 45 years.
The rose died. We filled out the paperwork to ask for a refund or replacement and send photos, as per the company's directions. We were then told "a committee" had to review the information to decide if our rose would be replaced.
We were then denied replacement or a refund because "we did not fill out the paperwork or send photos".
Extremely disappointed; it seems Heirloom Roses is simply looking for an excuse to not hold up their end of the warranty. It doesn't take "a committee" to review these requests and if we didn't fill out the paperwork how did they know to email me about my claim being denied. Will not use them again.
Tip for consumers:
They say they have a refund policy, but I think the policy is really "no refund."

I am concerned about Basye's Purple Rose will grow into a strong rose. Due to Highway 80 being closed for several days my shipment was delayed. All the roses did fine except for Basye. All of the branches on Basye are brown. However, the buds are still alive. I think this rose bush will really struggle.
I have purchased roses from HR for over 30 years.
Bought six gorgeous roses from Heirloom roses. They arrived quickly and in perfect health. They are hardy and have already bloomed. Rebekah, from Heirloom, helped me pick the perfect roses for my location and lifestyle. Thank you Heirloom!

I'm glad I found this site, it's helpful to narrow down the right rose for the climate and size. The plants were healthy and they like their new place in my zone 8 garden. I can't wait for their fragrance and beauty to bloom!
I liked the selection when comparing it to other sites
It was all very easy. I went through and read about the roses so I could pick. Then placed order and was asked when I wanted them delivered. That was great! They came at a prefect planting time. I also watched the video you sent about what to do when they came. I am excited for them to bloom! Thank you for making it a fun and easy purchase.
They are so full and are old fashion looking. Reminds me of better happier times. Some look a lot like peonies, which makes me think of my mom. She loved roses and peonies and had beautiful flower beds.
We are a family business, owned by Ben and Kara Hanna, that values premiere, quality roses and the preservation of unique and rare roses. Located in the fertile Willamette Valley in Oregon, we are continuing the legacy of John and Louise Clements who founded the nursery back in 1972 on their own small farm. Our offices are still located in the farmhouse where they lived in St. Paul, Oregon. We are passionate about hand propagating each rose to ensure that we provide our customers with the best own-root roses available. We are committed to providing own-root roses that provide profuse blooms, are winter hardy, are disease resistant, and are true to variety. While own-root roses cannot be quickly produced, like grafted roses, we think the difference and quality is worth it.
