“Desert Mesa Pool Service review”

John and Robin S.
6/3/23

This was a significant investment for us, but one that was competitively offered. Mike and his crew were prompt, efficient, thorough, and completed the work in two days. The crew left our pool and surrounding landscape in good condition. I would recommend Desert Mesa Pools services to anyone needing pool deck repair.

“Do not use Angi leads. It's a scam.”

James W.
3/1/24

Angi's leads has been hands down THE WORST lead service that I have ever used. Do not, I repeat, do not use their services. It's a complete rip off. They will send you a "lead" and charge you no matter what comes from it.Even if the lead is bogus. They sent me a lead where the number was disconnected, asked them for a a refund on the bad lead and no, the refund was denied. Sent me another with the wrong number, doesn't matter, still charged me $189 for the lead with no refund. I also found out that they will send you and 2-3 other people the same lead and charge everyone for the lead no matter what. It's a scam. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor, and even the supervisors were like Yep we send you the number and you can charge to matter what. Doesn't even matter if they don't call you back. Angi makes money by ripping off hard working people. So surprised that they are still in business. I would give zero stars if they allowed me to..

I would not under any circumstances do any business with this company, they will eat you up in lead fees and when you get bad leads they will refund you 2 leads a month and nothing more, you will be nickeled and dimed to death by them save yourself the headache and go with someone different that doesn't charge per lead. They also sell that same lead to anywhere from 4-5 other contractors as well

They called me and pushed for me to sign up, even though I was a brand new business. You have a minimum you have to purchase each month. They sent me emails saying so many hundred of people in my area are searching for my specific business. I knew this to be false because there are not that many Pools in my area. I'm in the country. They charge a fortune for leads. A lot of them are just curious people. They said I little very little competition. Again... not true. I submitted a lead as if I was a person and my phone was blowing up all day. They are very misleading. 6 months later they still call me almost everyday trying to get me to sign back up. They just wont leave me alone.

Home Advisor for contractors is a scam to have direct access to your bank account. The leads provided are not qualified and most have just a name and phone number. Each of these unqualified leads I received were over $50 each.

In desperation from not being able to find anyone to fix my constantly running sprinkler system, I decided to put my info into Home advisor for quotes. I got a call back within 5 minutes from an incredible company (Genesis Sprinklers) that I will now use forever! Wow! I couldn't be happier! Thank You!

I needed a cement pool deck / patio replaced and contacted Home Advisor. I went down the fixed price rabbit hole where they throw a job quote out there and contractors "bid" for it. This would probably work for basic tasks like painting a room, etc. But when I looked at the fixed price, even a lay person like me could see that there was no way anyone would bid for that price. I was right, but only after I had committed to the fixed price. So came the emails/phone calls till I was told about the contractor reference and got my money refunded. Would have been nice if a qualified person would have reviewed the task and determined that there was no way it would be a such a low fixed price. BTW, when I submitted my task, there was no option to download pictures of the project - which I would think would be important.

Scheduled one room carpet cleaning. Home Advisor sent a duct cleaning company which did not have carpet cleaning equipment. I'd moved furniture to prepare. Technician could not do the job, though he was apologetic and diplomatic, I still have a soiled carpet. I am angry about the inconvenience, the lack of service, and the position the tech was placed in. Will never consider calling Home Advisor again.

I was searching for house cleaners for a vacation home. I did not have any contacts in the area so it was helpful to get several referrals. Two called back very quickly and I chose one of them for the job.

I am very pleased with IGM Electric and the work was that was done in a very timely manner.

I much preferred the old "Angie's List" that I had used in the past for another problem. I can't tell you how annoying it is to have so many calls, texts after I had hired IGM. How do I stop this? It is most annoying. I will think twice before using this app again.

Reason I chose this business:

I used Angi. I would not have used Home Advisor.

Searched internet for contractors, but found none who had the interest in my small job.
Discussed with them before they began about my small job, but they proceeded joyfully.
The HomeAdvisor that set everything up was courteous, professional, efficient and prompt.

I have contacted several contractors through Home Advisor. They come to my home, look at my project and I never hear from them again. No estimates or sorry but we can't help you, nothing. Very poor and unprofessional customer service. I've had better luck just googling for help. I don't believe the reviews that are listed on Home Advisor are legit.

I have used HomeAdvisor 15 different times. Every time I go to the website, it asks for a different password and login. When I need help it says it will email me but it never does. Home advisor used to list six properties that I could choose from a drop-down list to show where my next project is located. I can't seem to get to that anymore.

The app is crap. It doesn't sync with the website, even with the same log on info. Otherwise... I found a really great pro for my project for an amazing price, and I will be using their services from now on.

The app has no option (or difficult to find):

-Change nature of your job, example Home Wiring to Fixture update.
-Mark a job as completed, leaving it in my queue.
-App has wrong pro selected from whom actually did the job.

I am a contractor with 31 outstanding reviews. I started being flooded with worthless leads approximately 1 year ago. I keep putting the leads on hold for a 2 week period and they keep taking money out of my account. Now I am getting leads from Angie's List because the companies have merged. They stink! They are thieves.

Charging you money for leads that are already taken care of and then don't give you your money back because "you exceeded your refund for this year", and you got refunded once because of the same reason!
What a scam, who ever made this thing needs to go to jail.
Had multiple, Non answering leads from home advisor and didn't get refunded because " of the customer doesn't answer it doesn't mean he won't call you back in the future and use your service, non of them did and assuming all of those "leads" were fake.
As a new business owner, I find Homeadvisor Pro a major scam that needs to be removed for good
I do have multiple more examples but I don't want to waste more of my time even speaking on this trash scamming company.

When searching for job quotes, make a list of what you expect to accomplish. Don't alter list until after you select a contractor, then fine tune if you forgot a detail up front. There's more to the selection than low price.

My company (family owned and stands behind its work) has tried out Home Advisor for leads from time to time over the past several years. The overwhelming number of leads are not real -- no answer, no callback, often no opportunity to leave a message. Raises serious questions, since you would think that a consumer with a problem would be interested in getting free estimates. The billing to credit card policies are opaque. You end up getting billed hundreds and thousands of dollars for emailed leads, for supposed "exact match" leads and for God knows what. Absolutely the worst.

Frustrating! The upshot of it all was that my card was declined because Citibank (COSTCO) does not accept payments through Angi. I spent at least an hour getting registered and then an hour trying to figure out why my card was decline. Probably they work great for other credit cards.

Do not use HomeAdvisor's suggested contractors, as in my case, they were not insured, took a down payment and then disappeared without do a thing for which they were contracted for(hardwood refinishing).
I have called HomeAdvisor at least 6 times and have been given other phone numbers or tried to switch me to their solutions dep't without any success. Disconnected on three of the calls, and selected a call back feature never to be called back. I suggest you don't Use HomeAdvisor for your contractor needs. Use friends, family, etc to find a reputable contractor.

HomeAdvisor (formerly ServiceMagic) uses deceptive practices. They will send you bogus leads and a couple of "real" potential customers but they charge you for the fake leads even if you bring it to their attention that the other leads were not real people or real addresses listed. This is downright criminal. They will steal your website traffic, they will sell your information to any 3rd world country who will pay for your information and they will call, text and email you 2, 3, 4 times a day. They are a huge problem why small businesses are failing online. Stay away from HomeAdvisor if you have any common sense, don't become another victim.

This company is a scam! So sad they bought out AngiesList. I'll keep this simple!
- Fake leads.
- Leads provide fake Information.
- 9/10 or 90% of Leads are usually shopping just getting quotes.
- By the time you contact your lead HomeAdvisor already sent the same lead to about 10-15 other Contractors.
- By the time you call your lead... you'll be lucky if 8 other contractors already called them.
- I have had leads tell me "If i would have known HomeAdvisor was going to solicit my phone number i would have never joined!"
- Request a Credit is BS they charge anyways!
- There is no effort put into creating genuine leads... I know i made a fake account with fake email and phone numbers to test out their system!

HomeAdvisor Pro is the worst lead generator! Contractors BEWARE!

Mike and his team are simply the best. Very Professional and Friendly. Mike walked through the house explaining the process and showing me things that were overlooked--he did a thorough inspection and identified other pest control issue other than the mice. During the work he explained what he and his crew were doing and took the time to answer my questions. Jimmy, Shawn, Steve and Mike are simply awesome, and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who needs help with pest control. Thanks to Mike and his team.

I wrote an extensive review on a company that HomeAdvisor recommended and it turns out it won't get posted because they don't post reviews unless the company got hired. Well, what if the company didn't get hired because the guy who showed up was pushy & degrading and tried getting into your home even tho your husband wasn't there yet and said 'what the hell does he need to be here for anyway?' People should know the bad as well as the good!

It was easy to use HomeAdvisor. After entering our needs, we were immediately given company names. By the time I got off my computer, I already had several companies contacting me. I selected 3 to get estimates from and made appointments with two of them - one for that day and one for the next day. Both arrived in a timely manner to assess the situation and provide an estimate for doing the work. (The 3rd company could not come until the next week, so we did not make an appointment.)
