This was a significant investment for us, but one that was competitively offered. Mike and his crew were prompt, efficient, thorough, and completed the work in two days. The crew left our pool and surrounding landscape in good condition. I would recommend Desert Mesa Pools services to anyone needing pool deck repair.
Angi's leads has been hands down THE WORST lead service that I have ever used. Do not, I repeat, do not use their services. It's a complete rip off. They will send you a "lead" and charge you no matter what comes from it.Even if the lead is bogus. They sent me a lead where the number was disconnected, asked them for a a refund on the bad lead and no, the refund was denied. Sent me another with the wrong number, doesn't matter, still charged me $189 for the lead with no refund. I also found out that they will send you and 2-3 other people the same lead and charge everyone for the lead no matter what. It's a scam. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor, and even the supervisors were like Yep we send you the number and you can charge to matter what. Doesn't even matter if they don't call you back. Angi makes money by ripping off hard working people. So surprised that they are still in business. I would give zero stars if they allowed me to..
Looking for brush piles and wood to be removed from common ground behind my home. If I had a pickup truck and 8 X 12 trailer, I could load in about 2 HR and I'm 65.
Home Advisor send me a 50 year old guy with a work truck with side boxes and a ladder on top with no trailer to pickup my brush. He looked at job and within 15 minutes loaded up his wheelbarrow and chainsaw and left without saying a word. Great experience... not! Home Advisor already charged me for job on my MC. Please don't use this company... how they stayed in business for 20 years is beyond me.
I was looking for companies to do a large window installation project. Had to have 21 windows installed. Wanted to shop around and compare prices so that I could receive professional, quality service at an affordable price. Home advisors connected me with several companies that could get the job done. Thankful for this site.
They were helpful with getting the project. However, it would help if the suggested contractors were local. Most were hundreds if not thousands of miles away. One reached out to me, he was qualified, I met with him and indeed hired him. It's pointless to recommend someone that won't travel for relatively small job
Have used one contractor over 1 yr ago for shower re-model, and now for patio tiles (new installation after taking out old ones.). Both were excellent, eager to please, and quality of workmanship was excellent.
Been with them since 2012. Leads were good closed 85% of them. Then as time goes on leads go out to more people cost of leads doubled. More people just shopping not real people or bogus. Now they are turning away people cause us contractors have had enough and cancelled this messed up co. Nextdoor and subdivision private Facebook pages best going and it's free. Glad I'm done with them.
I tried on 3 different occasions to set up appointments with contractors they rated as 5 star. However, 2 out of 3 never called to confirm the appointment and the other one confirmed but never showed up. When HomeAdvisor called to cancel yet another appointment they tried to give me a song and dance about how they are only "retailers" of services. What the hell does that even mean? HomeAdvisor adds bogus 5 star ratings to unreliable companies who don't show up. Obviously they Vet NOTHING. These folks are not worth the effort. Flip a coin -- you are bound to have better luck.
Hired a pro to come fix the tracks of 4 small windows. Alleged "fixed price" was $531. Pro came and said he would need to be reimbursed for parts. When I questioned why I have to pay for the parts when I already paid a fixed price, I was told he's getting paid for his time. I contacted Home Advisor Angies list about how I was not happy with the service and wanted a refund considering no work had been done, they then tell me I would be charged 50%.
This company is a rip off and way too over priced.
Tip for consumers:
Hire somebody yourself. All they do is hire a third party and then rip you off when you could just pay a pro yourself.

Had a leaking roof that turned out to be pretty bad. New LP Construction were very helpful and responded quickly. Great service, very courteous and professional, detailing the work from beginning to completion. Highly recommend!
First contractor didn't finish work, second didn't show up at all. Took maybe 10 phone calls and as many emails to get straight information and resolve issues regarding refunds and otherwise. Will never call again
I am just a regular person who needs information on modest home repairs and home maintenance jobs. I had an emergency recently having to move a heavy cabinet from the front of our house into the garage -- was charged almost $200 and even a $5 "check cashing fee" -- although the job was completed in a timely manner and the contractor was courteous, I feel we were ripped off. Now reading the reviews I understand that I'm probably just a "crappy lead." I will never use Home Advisors again.
The HomeAdvisor tool worked quite well for this job. Only complaint is with the android phone app. The review window would not allow me to enter information without flipping back and forth on the screen.
I'm leaving a review because I saw all of the negative reviews on here and thought I'd add my honest, better, review.
We have a paving company and HomeAdvisor got us about 7 jobs this season. The price is higher than I'd like, but if we get the jobs, it pays for itself. This site does get you out there, then you have to take over from there with the customer. Occasionally, we will get a bogus lead - someone looking for a different service, or someone just window shopping and it's a 50/50 chance they will refund your money. I think if they can verify from the shopper, they will refund you.
I didn't like it at first, but 7 months later I'm still their customer, so I'd recommend them.
I am aware that HomeAdvisor attempts to sell services directly to customers / leads and then sells their contact information to multiple competitors - which is completely deceitful. Adding to the swirl of unethical business practices is the fact that Angie's List is now a subsidiary of HomeAdvisor and that a single lead generated on either site is dispersed from both advertising platforms while disguised as 'competing advertisers'. These unconscionable actions make both lead services disreputable, and we have scaled back our marketing budgets accordingly.
I called the number at home advisor describing what I needed: multiple jobs. A general contractor service was recommended. Ben Sanchez of A Better Home Services contacted me and was able to give a quote and begin work almost immediately. Ben, Jessica and the crew were great. Even small areas garnered their attention. Painters, electricians, plumber and just the whole crew were fantastic! This is a time when remodeling is in high demand and it would be easy for then to put off the work. They did not. They were consummately professionals.
. Home advisor's contact estimate for a job of over $700.00 was easily replaced by another more local company by $250.00. This for garden work. We were, and continue to be bugged by phone calls from all kinds of their people that we never contacted.
I interviewed several companies but went with the smaller company because the owner appeared honest and did not give guesstimate. He quote a price and outlined the cost of project, materials he would use, made intelligent suggestions started and completed the jobs as he said. The company workers cleaned the job each day after they were finished and carted away debris as stated. The job came out much better than I thought it would. I will definitely keep the number handy should I required additional work in the future and highly recommend.
Several companies replied. I requested 3 estimates. Then chose one who's price was considerably less and I really liked the person who came out to do the estimate. This turned out to be an excellent choice all around.
WARNING: the first phone call response I got was a scam. Not Home Advisor's fault, though. Someone at one of their referred companies leaked my info to a scammer. They sounded legitimate at first on their phone response. Then alarm bells went off when they asked for my credit card information before coming out to do the job.
Home advisor was great. I had phone calls from two contractors within minutes of posting my job. The contractor who did the work was very professional and efficient and I plan to use him again for future sprinkler system needs.
After getting three quotes for tree trimming I selected Top Notch. The owner was professional, punctual, accommodating, knowledgeable and reasonable pricing. His two workers and himself trimmed three of my trees. I will continue to use them for this project.
We signed up with Home Advisor to receive leads for our Green Cleaning Company. We were told that we will be charged for the leads that accepted our inquiry. The leads kept coming but they never answered when we called them to get their business.
Then came the credit card bill. 1543. 00 in 3 weeks for leads we did not get. I spoke to customer service and followed up with an email. That was 5 days ago and still no resolution. Place an ad in your local paper, canvass the neighborhood and talk to real people. That's my advice!
I needed an electrician to fix a few problems involving a circuit, wall plugs, and a garbage disposal. I have not even been able to get electricians in my area (Berkeley and other East Bay cities) to even return calls. Erick at Mendez Electric called very soon after I listed my needs and set an appointment four days later. They were on time, knowledgeable, and I was really pleased with the bill.
I've called Homeadvisor for over a week to book a fixed price spring clean up at my home. It took 5 calls for me to complete this because of technical issues on their end. Finally we set an appointment but I receive no follow up emails or texts alerting me who took the job and when they will arrive. I had to call back then was rudely told that the person is on their way and I should call them. Then, the home advisor employee hung up on me as I voiced my displeasure.
Tip for consumers:
Homeadvisor doesn't do much in this process.

Home Advisor is an excellent site. We had immediate access to professional contractors who were all responsive and presented detailed quotations. The reviews on Home Adviser helped us to make an informed decision about which company we ultimately went with.
Instead of just dealing with the Pro, I now get additional emails and texts from some third party scheduler? (Ohio Area code). It is a time-waster.
Also, the "flat rate" price to go direct through HomeAdvisor was extremely high. It was suggested that my job could be done for $487, but dealing with actual Pro I got it for $250.
This company is horrible. I paid for a service ahead of time, through the company. The service provider showed up to my house an hour and a half late. He did not call to verify that he would be late and did not apologize. I called Home Advisor twice. Upon arrival he stayed at my house for 30 minutes of the 2 hour time and said we needed another part. Instead of going to the hardware store, that's less than 5 minutes away, he persisted that her had other appointments and that he would but the part and come back this afternoon. He never showed back up and did not answer his phone upon calling. I'm out of 150.09 and I still don't have the problem fixed. He has the nerve to ask for a tip for him going to the store for the part during the previous conversation. I'm beyond pissed. Don't use Home Advisor.
