My husband and I decided after many years our pre-lit Christmas tree needed to be retired. We went tree shopping and found a great tree. It looks and feels like the real deal.
I was in home depot for 30 min before someone could help me. No one on the isles anymore, and it's all self checkout. What happened? It has gone so far down hill. Plants are SO over priced. Guess I'm moving over to Lowes.
I bought and paid for with cash, a new freezer from Home Depot in Marble Falls. TX, on 6/15/2020. With a promise of delivery by 1st week in July. Two days before delivery date I was told its now 2 months before I may get it. I could have used that money for a lot of other things. I keep being told it was not Home Depots Fault... Well Thats Bull! They took my cash and promised a delivery and now They postponed it. Its Home Depots Fault!
I bought some windows at home depot back in October. Toke several months to arrive. They used sub contractors to install the windows. This company did such a bad job installing the windows. There is aire filtration in al of them even after they come and fix them. I'm still waiting for them to come back and see what's wrong. I even reported them to the BBB but no help. Please make sure you save your self some headache and money and buy someplace else. The worst company ever. They used third party companies and they don't want to take any responsibility for them. Bad business
I ordered over a month ago with an expectation and date given of 7 days for delivery. I have called, emailed, texted and checked tracking with ZERO response and direction. 45 days
Later… still nothing! So frustrating!
They will send non BBB people out to your home to do projects after you scan a bar code. The company will want a payment upfront…. They will make a series of errors that will cost you thousands of dollars…and Home Depot won't care… no matter how many times you notify them. When you do reach someone, they will provide you with a false number! Terrible to treat a hometown hero like that!
HomeDepot has the worst customer service you can imagine. I bought 2 pieces of furniture with them. They could not deliver it for two months. When the furniture arrived in the store one piece was damaged, the other wrong color! It took Homedepot another 3 weeks to exchange the wrong items, one at a time. The local store in Honesdale PA does not do their job and needs to call them 10 times and complain to them to get something done. I will never buy with HomeDepot again. It is a 1-star Company right now
Home Depot is also one of my favorite stores. They have more of the little and big tools I need to tinker with while completing many of my home repair projects. I am vary rarely disappointed in what is available in the big Home Depots in the cities near where I work and live.
Home Depot is one of the first places I go to when I have money. If I cannot find exactly what I need to work on my little building projects by myself, the very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient staff usually can show me something that works just as well.
There has been only one item, in 40 years, that I could not find. That item had to be purchased from the manufacturer. It is a specialty item that is not carried in ANY hardware store.
BRAVO, Home Depot! I have tried ACE Hardware, Orchard Supply, Loew's and Mom & Pop stores. You have earned my Loyalty for over 40 years.
Way to go!

I really appreciate that you can order many things not available in the actual stores on the site, but must say navigation on the site is sometimes confusing.
Overall though good shopping experience.
I have had my washer / dryer delivery cancelled and rescheduled three times in three weeks due to a broken truck. Or so they claim. The one time they do show up is on the wrong day. Each time they cancelled they didn't bother calling while I waited all day. To make matters worse, HD subcontracts their delivery and appliance home services. You have to call several numbers to reach anyone with actual knowledge of the delivery issues. I am still waiting for my appliance 4 weeks after my original delivery. The delivery device is Forward Air out of Landover, MD.
As a long time customer and a person who does a lot of different projects, I have watched HOME DEPOT slowly become less professional. Each department used to have knowledgeable people that could help you with your project or answer questions you had. My last visit I was hard pressed to find anyone to help me. If you go to the desk and ask to have someone for the department meet you in that department, someone comes tells you it is not their department. Can't answer your question or help you find what you are looking for, at which time they would leave. Get someone to announce over the speaker to have an associate go to the department and I stand and wait 20 minutes for no one to show up. I would say very few employees of home depot actually know anything about the department they are in. Drive a forklift wave a flag great but answer a question FORGET IT.
I placed an order on the Home Depot website to purchase a wooded pantry cabinet for ~$500 and got a 10% discount on the purchase. At the checkout process, a popup dialog box showed that my total of ~$450 would be discounted for another $50 if I used a new HomeDepot credit and the new total would be ~$405. After I received my first credit statement, I found out that the credit card company did not honor the $50 discount as indicated in the dialog box. I called the credit card company (Citibank) and being explained there is a restriction on not allow combining a purchase discount with a new credit card promotion. My confusion is why the dialog box indicating an additional $50 promotion and showed a final price with the discount. This is totally trying to mislead customer to apply a new credit card even after a custom already has a discount in a purchase. In addition, a customer can use his/her existing card to get additional discount without a restriction.
I used it exactly as the directions read and it turned out great! Make sure you prep and prep and over prep. Sand, wash repeat. I did 3 times. It helps. Also buy a respirator mask. Home Depot has them for 29.95. Get the good one and don't mess with the little " dust " masks. It will save you! All in all a great product. Just FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!
Do not buy any appliances from Home Depot! We have had repeated horrible experiences from their delivery services! They damaged our properties and often with repeated no shows. They use third-party co. Or just some classless people they pulled from the street. These ppl were rude, trash talking and careless without any manner! When we called Home Depot and tried to address the issues, they couldn't do anything. They just asked us whether we wanted to simply cancel our latest order. We are going to Lowes and other stores from now on.
Tip for consumers:
Pick up the items yourself if you can.
I have a military Id which suppose to be 10% off at home depot and it made sense that they can not verify my ID online to give me discount but I went to store to place an order for product to pickup in store. They told me that they can not do 10% discount online product which did not make any sense to me even if i do it in store.
Here is the thing if i am getting 10% at this company it should be in every produce or do not offer any discount. What kinda system is that? And on top of that this customer representative was so rude while explaining. Worst experience every!
I was charged 2 charges through my online Home Depot account. I immediately cancelled the orders knowing they were not mine. The orders were $2,000 each. Even though Home Depot said they cancelled the orders they were shipped to an unknown address and my credit card was charged the $4,000+ - Those charges were in December and today is February 10. I have had to call 15 times to get the same run around each time. It will be 7 to 10 days before the charges are reversed. They still have not been reversed. I would cancel any Home Depot online account as they allow you to log in without a password by sending your e-mail a code. The hacker is able to guess the 5 digit number and get into your account after just 8 or 10 attempts. Cancel your online Home Depot account to save 3 months or more of frustration.
We are blessed with a real 'mom and pop' lumber yard in our town, but sometimes they can't compete with the stock available at a nearby 'big box' like Home Depot. When we need a home improvement item our first try is the 'mom and pop' and if that doesn't work out then it's off to HomeDepot.com
You can search their web site for whatever you are looking for and then see which of the area stores has it in stock. - reserve or buy it online and then pick it up - easy peasy!
You can also have stuff home-delivered, sometimes free, sometimes not - depends. Or you can always have it shipped to a nearby store and pick it up there.
If you shop at a store in person their sales staff ia generally quite knowledgeable. Many of the 'specialty trades' salespeople are retired contractors or other workers who really know their stuff. Almost as good as at our 'mom and pop' first choice store.
Never order from Home Depot on line! From the delivery to the assembly, it has been a nightmare. Delivery was not on time and then scheduled for when I was on vacation. They would not reschedule, so I had to ask my son's friend to drag a couch into my garage. I am still waiting for assembly one month later! I am seriously considering not shopping at Home Depot ever again, I will start shopping at Lowes, even if I have to drive farther.
April 17 2020 My son I went to Home Depot in Christiana DE. We were greeted by a associate counting people going into the main entrance. We had to go this way because lawn and garden is a exit now. The associate let us in and as we were walking to lawn and garden, another store associate come running over saying "sir you can't be in here with your child"! This was in front of other customers and store employees. Home Depot is letting 50 to 80 year old people in their stores that's more at risk! The last Home Depot covid-19 update does not mention anything about not letting kids in the stores. All store associates should be educated if this is their policy especially the one at the main door counting! This is discrimination!
We have ordered tarps twice from here. The price is about half anyone else's. These are medium weight tarps but in reality they are quite strong. Anyway it was without a doubt the cheapest way to get them when we selected store pickup. But check your order at the store because they gave my husband someone else's order. When he got to the car I recognized the box was entirely too large. I went back in and they exchanged for the correct item.
I ordered some stuff online 2 weeks before from home Depot still they didn't ship it yet while they charged me for my order and everytime I called they said call us in next 3 days if your item is not shipped, so I called them three times and still no shipping. While they said your item is available in warehouse and it is ready to put the label on it for shipping company,
I purchased an appliance package from Home Depot. Unfortunately, I bought the wrong size refrigerator. When I asked for an exchange, I was told exchanges are against their policy. The refrigerator that was delivered is still wrapped in plastic. I told the supervisor I just wanted to exchange it for the correct size. I am willing to pay any exchange or re-stocking fees. Nope. Home Depot has an interesting take on customer service. It's Lowes for me from now on.
Home Depot ripped me off. We ordered a 6 pack of smoke detectors and instead got a box with one smoke detector that is missing the wires necessary to install. Called HD and they claim there is nothing that they can do for me. They claimed the box that they shipped weighed 5lbs, but it did not. It only weighed 1.2lbs. Guess I will be shopping at Lowes from now on.
SHAME SHAME SHAME on Home Depot Management!
No longer giving benefits to veterans unless they have a 'smart phone'. No consideration for those of us with flip phones! It was simple before--show the veteran ID and the benefit applies.
Is Home Depot getting a kick back on cell phone sales now? Why would the ID policy change?
There is no common sense or logic to this change.
AWFUL!
Don't want to give any stars-but this system doesn't allow that either. Had to leave a 1 star rating :(
Tip for consumers:
GO TO A STORE THAT RESPECTS THE SENIOR VETERAN-HOME DEPOT DOESN'T!!!

NO VETERANS DISCOUNT WITH A FLIP PHONE!
We recently had to purchase a new refrigerator and the dimensions were a challenge as we had a 36" wide space, but most of the refrigerators we liked needed to allow for a few more inches so you could actually open the doors. The French Door Kitchen Aids were super, and we almost ordered one, when I happened to go over and look at the store model again. I noted that although the width was quite larger if you wanted to open the doors all the way. Big problem. The sales man, Mike Sackett knew what we wanted and knew the logistics problem we faced. He took us to a GE fridge that fit the bill perfectly! We're not label snobs, so although we had wanted a Kitchen Aid...this was also one of the brands we were given the go-ahead on from our plumber. He said absolutlely NO Samsung! So anyway, it was perfect.although the freezer is a bit smaller than I wanted...it's been a month now and this little GE French Door fridge is wonderful...and so was the service and delivery by Miguel! Bravo!
Tip for consumers:
Home Depot is vast and the variables are many when purchasing an appliance. I suggest a personal visit, which in our case, saved us!

Went to get a design on my kitchen, both ladies were too busy on the phone to even acknowledge me; one was definitely on a personal call; the other I'm not too sure. I even stood around a bit, looking at cabinet doors and counter tops but they were too engrossed in their phone conversations to say something to me. I left and went to Lowe's.
This was the Home Depot in Maple Heights, Ohio.
I have a DIY project going every time I go into this store. I love going to the tile section and looking at all kinds of choices the great thing about this is that their associates come and help you reach a better informed decision instead of impluse buying it's more the information the consumer.
I enjoy looking at the different paint samples before choosing one an a accent color. Home Depot is a lifesaver to your wallet as well.
