That is a truly impressive solution for managing taxes! I am myself quite a cautious person, trying to comply with all the rules the government imposes, so paying taxes is quite mandatory. With their mobile application, it's very easy to manage taxes, pay them and be an obedient citizen :) It doesn't take a lot of time to sign up, to understand how to interact with the mobile application because the interface is intuitively clear and navigation is very straightofrward. Thanks developers for this service!
I filed my taxes with them last year and the experience was much better than with a certain competitor, but this year I couldn't file at all thanks to their two-step verification and lack of customer service. I changed phones (and numbers) since last year and now they won't let me into my account. The "customer service" number sent me an email which led me into the same horrible loop. Despite me having access to the email, entering the verification number, and entering the password, I could not file because I didn't have access to the phone number. This is sooooooooo ridiculous. They've permanently lost a customer because of this idiocy!
H&R Block since they refused to rectify this situation after many many calls and patience. I have used them for a few years now and never had I had such a bad experience with them. The last several months my ex has been able to see all my account information for my taxes. Not only have we been filing separately for the last few years but we have separate accounts with separate email addresses and passwords however our accounts seem to still be "linked". They refuse to refund any fees even though I had to physically go to a physical office to file since I didn't want to upload my documents on the account in fear my ex will see them. They still haven't fixed the account issue as I just received an email in regards to my exes account. They have provided terrible customer service stating it's not their problem and they can't fix it. I followed all the tech support steps created a new account and the problem has yet to be resolved and the least they can do is refund me the fees for experience I've had to endure the last months not to mention last year I filed a peace of mind claim (should have been a red flag to stop using but people make mistakes) and have yet to receive my money back. Most importantly how are they not taking the privacy matter more seriously. Someone being able to see all my private information has to legally not be okay. I didn't change over because I am so close to the deadline and I was also promised fees would be refunded but I also wanted to give them a chance to fix the problem. I now regret giving them my patience and time. How does a company not care about privacy. Very disappointed with this company and will not be using them again do not recommend them and will continue seek advice on privacy implications.
I'm very disappointed. I will never go back there again. Such waste of time. I made appointment online they never called me back.
When I had any issues with H&R Block they just kept giving me different phone numbers to call except for I paid H&R Block to do my taxes not for me to do my own zero help from management

H&R was very helpful and friendly, answered any question I had the best of his ability.I definitely will be doing my taxes there next year.
You can enter your information for free but they charge a LOT to process it. Very misleading. Isn't that false advertising?
The first time I used HR block for tax filing was in 2020 to file our 2019 taxes and I had a great experience so in 2021, I again used them to file my taxes in bryan Texas and I had a horrible experience. I started the filing online and when I could not upload my documents to their server, I sent several messages to my tax pro and called also on several occasions and no one assisted me. I had no response from the severs messages I sent them and also no response from the calls and messages I left them. After waiting a while, I went to one of their offices in bryan to file my taxes in-person and I had the worse experience of my life in all my tax filing years. My tax pro never spoke to me regarding explaining stuff to me and any time I asked her something and she did, it was quite unfriendly and besides I paid them over $300. I decided to forget about that and file with them this year and the same in professionalism is repeating its self. I used their deluxe app assistance to file my taxes online and contracted the assistance of a pro to review and have my taxes submitted, I did this on April 11th and paid the fees. I have since been trying to reach the tax pro with absolutely no response both via messages and phone calls. I am presently left in limbo not knowing what to do. Egan I log in and check, all I see is the message that automatically appeared the day I submitted my taxes for their review " your tax pro is reviewing your documents". I pray that I am able to survive this ordeal and successfully file my taxes with HR block this year and then I will say goodbye to ever filing my taxes with them or encouraging someone else to. As it stands now the deadline for filing taxes is approaching and I have no idea when my pro will finish reviewing my taxes or for that matter have it submitted to the IRS. This scenario is extremely unprofessional.
I had a scheduled phone call that no one answered, and I had a scheduled video call that I was left on the video call. Texas are some of the worst tax people I have ever come across they need new careers and some mental help. If you were scheduled and phones call / Video chat and they are not able to help you. Why don't they call you ahead of time and not waste all your time. Now I'm pissed they wasted my whole day…. Cheryl Matysek 2000 north hwy 157, Mansfield ******* their customer service is the worst both Mansfield Texas offices, suck $#*!……
Inice the store manager is very prejudice she do not like black people and they need to be investigated and she is very messy
Will never go to HRB again. I was charged twice and the second time was twice the amount of the first charge. I will have to dispute
Waste of time and money. I wouldnt suggest H&R Block to anyone. The customer service is utterly disappointing.
What a ripoff! I was two weeks late. Even filed an extension. Simple return, no dependents. Got charged 189 dollars. Post pandemic. Shame on them!.

I'm a FIFO worker so I have to fit a lot in in the week I'm off. And be very aware I organise myself properly. I booked an apt from work the day after flying in.my tax return was very basic. I noticed 4 days later they hadn't even lodged it. So I called to ask what was going on. The receptionist said they had encountered a problem with lodging it. And giver her 5 mins to chat to her supervisor and she would call me back in 10 min. I hung up and rang ato. They said they had no sign of anyone trying to lodge a claim for me. And ther was nothing that would cause a problem for lodging. I got put on hold for ages as they were busy. 3 hours later I had received no call back from h& r block. So I called informed her of what I'd been told. She said I'm sorry I ha very to speak to my manager but she's busy. I said u said u were calling me back in 10 I had other things I could be doing. You could have rang back to let me know there would be a delay. I asked to speak to anybody but her as her only solution was that I did my tax return and lodged it myself. She said her supervisor and all the consultants were busy. I said I've been waiting 3-4 hours. She suddenly says ok ok you wanna speak to a consultant. I said yes please. She flicked me over to hold them hung up on me. Iv bee told to do my tax return and lodge it myself after being told I'd be called back in 10 mins. I got lied to over and over again today. If u don't like lodging tax returns and don't like speaking to your customers. Why call yourself an accounting firm. I never raised my voice but I just wanted to speak to someone who could answer why it hadn't been lodged or tell me when they were going to. I waisted a whole day still don't know and I got hung up on. This is the Cannington office. I've been to byford. They lodged while I as sitting there. I had a good experience with them. But in the end they are all under the banner of H&R block. If. They let an office like this exist. I will never waist my time or take the risk to be treated so discustingly again. I'm absolutely gob smacked.
I won't file again with HR block, they charge to much, rental rebate was really short,so next year I'm going somewhere else
Old computers so could not run TT so H&R Block. I imported from last years return that was in TT. Mac. (Getting a new one after I get this all done).
So on extension deadline finishing it up.
This is a more obscure issue that not many might face. Schedule C Biz codes A & B. But when it SAYS it is a calculated field & still gives an error message does not make sense. But that basic info was also downloaded from previous year. Has been the same. So can't file until fixed. Tried calling # on Help page online linked from program. NO INDICATION THAT WAS FOR ONLINE FILING HELP ONLY! 36 min hold & disconnected. Then 1 hr 1 min. When finally after 40 min or so a person answered. THEN found out that was for online only. Was transferring but then dropped. BAD MOVE TO NOT CLEARLY SAY # for online only. Should clearly show # for online & # for downloaded software. Especially when very long hold times & then dropping calls.
Finally decided to go ahead & download & work on state while I was on hold. That went super quick. As expected.
When I got to state found out doesn't handle estimated taxes so both returns wrong. So it had showed I would owe penalty & then Went back & entered the estimated amounts. But it still kept asking me to fill in the penalty form even tho it was showing refund. Finally got rid of that. After noticing an update. TT makes you update or it did previous years. I finally found info on how to go back to previous pages. That is really easy in TT but not w this.
But it should have fixed it when I entered the payments so it showed refund. Good programming corrects connected forms & fields. This didn't.
So when it finds an error that might be related to an entry a couple pages back, unlike TT when hitting back it doesn't go to previous page in questions but to previous error so really hard to fix. Wasted a LOT of time. I think everything is more or less ok except for this bug that I can't get answers on. So returns are going to be late.
I hope their guarantees cover any penalties for that.
If you have investments it did not have my financial firms to download unlike TT. Others also mentioned that. It has some but a lot of them it does not have to download. So that means data has to be entered manually.
So may be fine for simpler return. But it SHOULD be able to handle what it includes. In this case Sched C for Biz. Including people w 1099 income. Navigation to fix errors was cumbersome.

Tax prep software. H&R Block 2022 Deluxe download. At this point I hope their guarantee will cover late fee since can’t finish due to that 1 little thing. I hope I can still e-file fed.
H&R Block is a collection of nice tax accountants who have zero competence to write and maintain software. I e-filed my taxes in mid- February with downloaded H&R Block software after it repeatedly indicated there were no errors or problems with the return. From my end, the submission froze in IRS servers and has stayed that way for over three weeks. At the H&R end, the IRS informed them that their software created an error in my filing (a fake report of rental income, when none existed) and told them within five minutes of my submission that it had been rejected. Since that moment, my return has been listed as pending in their software and the software will not allow resubmission.
The worst part of this company is that they only pretend to offer customer support. At least half the time, the staff that answers the phone almost immediately hangs up on a customer (in fairness, the staff seem to have to create a new case number for each call and that step seems to trigger disconnection). The basic staff seems nice, but innocent of any technical expertise or basic support practices (like looking up the case record before having a caller repeat every detail with every call, all while denying this problem could exist when the record clearly indicates that it does). The frontline staff must consult two different systems to respond to customers (one accessed with email, the other accessed by social security number), and some staff members seem unaware the second system exists. And most ridiculously, the technically competent staff can be accessed by the basic staff only by sending short text messages. In my last call, the staff member sent some 9 short messages over the course of an hour, with the technical staff reading only minor details of my case and giving nonsensical responses that frustrated the person trying to help me even more than they did me.
A firm with this structure and these systems is designed to fail. The front line staff answering the phone is unable to do anything other than spew lies fed them by the technical staff. Examples:
• a March 2nd update for federal forms would fix the problem – no it did not.
• my case was escalated to the mysterious technical staff and they would respond directly to me in two days – never received any response at all
• actually, it would take the technical staff five days to respond, not two – again, no response ever received
• the IRS would automatically clear my tax return after three weeks and reject my return so I could fix the H&R Block created error – nothing of the sort occurred.
The one detail where the support staff was consistent and clear is that no refund would be provided for my purchase of the software. H&R Block takes zero responsibility for its product and is nothing but a monstrous waste of time and money. The only worse outcome here would have been for me to wait until early April to file my taxes with their software. As it is, I can purchase TurboTax and start over from scratch.

I scheduled my first appt for Friday, 3 February with my usual prep person. I arrived on-time and waited for an hour. During that hour I saw 3 people served by my prep person, the 3rd, appeared to be a walk-in as the receptionist said, "we'll try to get you in today". When this person was serviced before me, i finally said to the receptionist, "What's happening here? I had an appointment at 4, I've been here for an hour watching people get in to see my preparer". The receptionist responded that I didn't have a confirmed appointment, because I didn't answer the confirmation calls (which I did not receive). She even told me the number they called was disconnected, then confirmed they had the wrong number for me despite doing my taxes for 2 years, and same phone number for 25yrs. So, no confirmed appointment and the receptionist lets me sit for an hour without telling me.
2nd appt, Monday, 6th of February: Sat for another hour watching people come and go with my preparer then someone comes in from the street and asks for an appt with my preparer who is meanwhile sitting in his vacant cubicle talking to a co-worker. I said to the walk-in, "good luck, I've been here an hour waiting to see him", to which the receptionist retorted, "Your appt isn't with him, it's with Mary"...so they took the liberty to change my tax preparer unbeknownst to me and certainly not to my approval. Another 5 minutes goes by and I'm called by the receptionist to the cubicle only to be turned around by Mary, the supposed new prep person because she wasn't ready for me. At that point I walked out, and told the receptionist why i was doing so. DON'T go there, unless you like being treated as if your time has no value. H&R Block Dodge St., Dubuque Iowa. If I could give zero stars, I would!
Tip for consumers:
It would have been helpful to know walking in the door that my appt was given away to someone based on H&R Block's stupid confirmation policy.

None, they wasted my time twice, an hour each occasion, and still don't have my taxes complete
I filed all paperwork accordingly. Only to be shocked 1 yr later in receiving a letter from the IRS that I owed $12,000 in penalties and back taxes. I was out of the country and could not get in to see them within the 30 day notice from the IRS for the "Peace of Mind" additional coverage. Since I was out of the country, I called the IRS, to inform them that I was not able to figure things out until I got back. Since I told H&R that, they immediately voided by coverage because I was not suppose to contact the IRS AND I did not reach out to them in 30 days from the official IRS dated letter (again, out of the country).
1st agent reviewed, said I was correct, they filed it wrong, left out a page of tax info. I had Peace of Mind coverage which will pay for the penalties and the difference owed. We will file it when I get back.
Got back. She no longer was working there. Would need to see the Charleston, SC supervisor. I walked in explaining everything, showed her the paperwork. She said "I know her work (the person who filed my paperwork), she would not leave info out. This isn't her work, this was added later. I asked her if she was calling me a liar? I don't even know what paperwork was missing or suppose to have been added. She kept being confrontational and got louder telling me "I need to calm down and stop with the attitude". I didn't even raise my voice with her. I just wanted a solution.
At one point, she loudly said so the people in the next cubicle could hear "don't be making that face at me. I don't need your attitude. I think I was just too shocked to even say anything to which she kept saying out loud "you need to stop giving me attitude when I am trying to help you.' I was just shocked after awhile she just dismissed me out the door. '. I contacted H&R headquarters customer service, who supposedly took my grievances down, said they understood, thought it was horrible treatment and would get back with me. Two separate customer service complaint filed later. ZERO.
I finally had no recourse but to just talk to the IRS and try to solve it on my own, which meant paying ALL penalties and back taxes with interest. I'm talking to the IRS agent, he told me he went through what I did with the IRS also misfiling his taxes and accruing penalties & interest on back taxes before he worked for the IRS. Said it happens quite a bit.
How H&R Block stays in business I don't know. If anyone is suing them, I'd like to get my $12,000+ back in misfiling of my taxes!
Tip for consumers:
Do NOT use them unless you are okay with the IRS knocking on your door wanting back taxes, penalties and interest when H&R Block misfiles your taxes.
The “Peace of Mind” Protection Plan is the BS let’s see if we can screw you out of your money more plan. They will find excuses to void your coverage!!!

I initially submitted my taxes through H&R Block on March 2nd, 2023. H&R Block failed to submit my taxes correctly, causing it to be rejected by the state on March 21st.
I asked them on March 22nd to investigate why it had been rejected even after submitting multiple times. On March 23rd, H&R Block's tax service representative told me that it was "pending by the state." On that same day, I asked them what I could do to make sure the return went through correctly. They messaged me back on the 29th (claiming my message had not come through until six days later), telling me that as far as they knew, the return had been accepted.
For the next few months, I got nothing but claims that the returns had been approved and automated messages saying that they weren't. I finally had to call the Department of Revenue (on six different dates!) to figure out what was going on.
It turns out that H&R Block had not sent off my tax return at all until 6/26/2023.
I finally simply filed the tax return by myself on August 18th.
H&R Block sent me one more message on August 25th to admit that they had *not* been working on my return, but also to discourage me from fixing the problem on my own.
In summary, the tax service representatives at H&R Block deceived me into thinking that the returns had been taken care of, and refused to admit that there was an issue, even after I went through a months-long process to contact them multiple times over multiple platforms. I did everything in my power to help them perform the promised service I paid them for, but the due date had passed by the time I was able to circumvent their obstruction. As soon as I was able to figure out that H&R Block had not--and would not--file my return correctly, I did it myself as quickly as possible. Now I'm out over 5 months of wasted time, $200, and late fees from the Dept. of Revenue on top of everything else.

I made my appointment online for an in-person tax appointment for Tuesday 3/2 at 3:00pm, and received a confirmation text of my appointment. On Monday 3/1 I received a 2nd text reminder/confirmation of my appointment. Upon arrival at my appointment on Tuesday I was told by (the person whom I was scheduled to meet with) that I had to drop off my papers. I replied that I made an in-person appointment because I needed some help with understanding what was needed, and had some questions with regards to the recovery rebate credit since I never received my 2nd stimulus payment. At that point she told me that they aren't doing in office appointments and that I could reschedule at another location. I don't understand why I wasn't informed about any of this when I made an appointment in the first place – or why this option is even available for scheduling online if they are doing them at this location. Why was I not contacted prior to walking into my appointment? I was told me that there is insufficient space for in person appointments at their location.
At this point, I felt I had very little choice but to leave my papers – but wasn't sure what information would be needed. Instead of going to her desk to review, we went through all my private documentation in the lobby area – no further apart than had we been at a private cubicle. I turned all my paperwork over to her and presented her with a new customer coupon for $25 off my preparation. Pricing of the preparation was not discussed, but when I scheduled online I saw $79 advertised.
When the accountant called 3 days later to tell me my taxes were finished and ready to pick up, she informed me that the preparation cost was $439 after my $25 coupon. This was very upsetting to me, and I couldn't understand why these extreme costs weren't discussed prior to leaving the paperwork. I have spoken with several other people who have used H&R Block for their tax preparation and they all confirmed that this is extraordinarily high, and about twice what they have paid. I feel strongly that I was taken advantage of and that this pricing was extreme. I don't feel this pricing was fair, and even know people who have had their much more complicated business taxes completed for less.
I contacted H&R Block back in March to file my taxes. I lived and worked abroad for half of the year so I knew I was going to have to pay more than the standard rate to have them done and specifically asked for a senior tax analyst who knew what they were doing (I ended up paying $320). The lady who prepared my taxes repeatedly missed phone appointments but every time I complained I was offered another appointment and eventually I just wanted to get them filed without having to start all over again. There were technical glitches and then my taxes were rejected (I didn't receive a notification from their portal, but thankfully checked and saw the red x and rejection message before the deadline). The tax analyst resubmitted them and said she'd carefully monitor the situation and would ensure they went through. The tick mark on their portal displayed as green and it said it was submitted, but when I expanded the text box, the rejection message was still there. I was informed the message had just not refreshed but all was well. In May, I realized I'd never received my refund so I queried again with H&R Block only to find that my taxes had never been submitted. I tried to file a complaint and was told that it would be escalated and was given another appointment with someone else as my tax analyst had left the company. The phone call appointment was again missed by this new person, but I eventually got a hold of him and he resubmitted them - but again this failed. I raised another complaint, and was given another appointment with someone else - again no phone call and she later resubmitted and this also failed and I was told there was another "technical glitch". I raised another complaint with the headquarters number and was told that not only had none of my complaints been escalated but that they had me down as "DIY". I certainly haven't paid $320 to prep the taxes myself! So I raised another complaint and the lady assured me it had been escalated and I would hear from a supervisor within three days. Three days passed, no phone call. I phoned back and was informed they had tried to phone me once and left a voicemail message (I never received a voicemail) and gave up after one attempt and closed the complaint case. I've raised another complaint and asked for a refund as well as some help with my tax situation and absolutely nothing! I can't believe that this company can continue to conduct business with clients in this manner. Not filing taxes can have a financial impact on people's lives, and not escalating complaints properly or even dealing with complaints is unbelievably unprofessional. I've tried escalating complaints with the Better Business Bureau, but they aren't even accredited and reading their responses to other BBB complaints furthers my belief that they don't take any complaints seriously. I will be filing a complaint about their conduct with the IRS directly as a result.
