“They actually listened to me!”

Larissa S.

I was having a lot of issues with Indeed originally, I couldn't get them to respond after taking down a very critical hiring ad we had up. It seems like an algorithm just flagged our account and took it down. But after talking with the Indeed support team on here, they got my ads back up (just in time) and even gave me a free sponsor on our most important one. Thank you Indeed support team, I really appreciate you taking the time to work with me - I knew when humans looked at it, they would know we were legit. Thank you again everyone at Indeed Support!

Ive been trying to post a add to hire employees but Indeeds awful trust and safety team continue to refuse me and pause account even adding three forms of utility bills etc...just awful. AND there is NO customer service or accountability or followup or supervisors to speak with They have lost my confidence and business and I will never promote them. I prefer a lesser competitor as opposed to indeed. Worst experience I have ever had online

ALL RESPONSE IS FACELESS AND FROM INDIA, ALL NONSENSE.
SEE ATTACHMENTS

Imagine doing business with a company multiple times over several years and suddenly when you come to depend on them having the rug pulled out from you 100% with your only recourse being email and no chance of contacting a very shady company, no phone calls of any kind, no chat.

Meanwhile the company insists that you and your boss, a licensed doctor in 3 states, board certified, are underhanded, we have real email, real websites, three real dental/admin offices and yet indeed cannot be found anywhere, but they're allowed to point the finger at the honest citizen.

We hired more than a dozen people from using indeed and suddenly we are basically criminals. We checked our credit card, it's working fine, nothing has changed, we posted a job which was the same one that we had posted about 8 months ago because we have turnover, suddenly that job does not meet their standards and they don't need to tell us why.

This is absolutely outrageous; private companies are allowed to make their own decisions, we accept that, but there should be some accountability once they've taken all your information, it is not OK to just disappear while accusing everyone else of disappearing, this is a disordered psychopathic way of looking at things.

They get to hide and point the finger while you sit there with your heart pounding and no recourse other than to press an electronic keyboard and no one you can talk too no way to make things better, and try explaining that to your boss who thinks you did something wrong.

The damage to career is lawsuit worthy.

Try to find alternatives to this company (handshake is really good) even if you are currently using them there are other companies out there and while they may not be as big as indeed yet, prepare now because when they pull the rug out from under you, you will not know what to do.

Tip for consumers:
Download the resumes!

Once these crooked ******** kick you off with no notice you will not have access to the resumes you paid for and the time you spent screening through them. Download all of them even if you don't feel the candidate is good you may feel different later and INDEED will not let you see it once you are kicked off you are persona non grata; you are the enemy

Products used:
I don't know about refund because I can't get back on the site we never got a chance to post just wasted a lot of time literally days waiting for this to be reviewed we've been with this company for years indeed is a career search website it not related to anything tangible. The damage done is in time and reputation from my employer plus there's not a lot of other sites to post jobs on. And we are a very real company.
They store resumes from prior jobs which we relied on looking at now we can't get to them anymore so everything we paid for in the past is lost.

We are not new to Indeed. Last year we managed to find one employee via Indeed. This year we need to find receptionists again. We more or less using the same ads as last year. We had quite a few applicants and started to narrow down the candidates and interviewing candidates. Then all of a sudden my account was disabled. I wrote to them and got this rather generic reply:

Your account has been disabled because its relationship with your company could not be verified. For the security of our employers and job seekers, Indeed must verify accounts and jobs.
To verify your account, we would like for you to provide documentation relating to your company. Please provide us with a scan or image of one of the following items:
Electricity or Phone Bill with your business's name and address
ABN Registration Document
ASIC Business Registration

If they are so serious about proving the relationship or the ownership of the company, why don't then do that when the account was first being set up? Why all of a sudden just disabled the account of a perfectly legitimate company?

Through the help of my accountant I have given them 7 official document plus more to prove all the above. Still they would not care! They then said in a very generic way: It appears that your request may require specialised attention and our Client Success team can better assist you. Please view our Help Centre for further assistance with this issue.

So I tried hard to get in touch with the whatever Client Success team. Went round and round to no avail. Called their number but no one ever picked up the phone. Live chat? Where is the link for live chat?

Such a pathetic service.

Get absolutely no support at all from this website and wasted so much of our time and resources for nothing.

" This is typically done when not enough information is provided when an Indeed account is set up "
There is NO extra information requested when we sign up. We had provided you everything you had asked for during sign up.

"We do see an appeal was submitted but the documentation was not provided. "
We had provided everything in great details and at our expense (our accountant's services is not free). We received a reply from you guys within a couple of hours or less. Every time whoever person that replied just disregard all the documents submitted.

You know if you want any extra information or proof of whatever, you could have just request that. We would be more than happy to provide you promptly. Instead, you guys just frozen the account of a legitimate business with zero warning. It is very much a shoot first and ask question later mentality.

Also, if you wish to Live Chat with a Representative you should see the option when logged into your account. Log in to your account then click “Need Help?” in the top left-hand corner. Hi Hazem, it appears your account is going through our standard review process. It is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our job posting guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status that you're now experiencing.

In this case, we see that an appeal was submitted on the account and our moderation team will follow up with you directly within the next 24 hours via email from employersupport@indeed.com. You will need to follow up with them directly via email chain in order to move forward with the review process. Please respond back to them only and double-check your spam/junk folder as well since sometimes our emails can be sent there as well. Thank you!

I started looking into the Indeed scam today after reviewing my account and the amount of clicks versus applications. They charged me $ 43 dollars for 4 days after i specifically requested the maximum of $ 5 dollars per day. I just received my business health care license about a month ago and are fairly new so being on a strict budget is essential at this point. Initially it took them a while to approve my business to advertise so i paid for two weeks and received about 25 resumes. Its safe to say half of the applicant din't even bother to call back, while the other 30 % were no call no show to the interview and about 20% actually showed up and out of 20% it safe to say maybe 2 i have considered hiring. I have suspended my post effective today and will not use this site any longer.

Another thing very questionable is the whole pay per click deal.
How are we suppose to monitor the clicks?
Are these Clicks actually real?
We should be provided with the name of the person viewing/ clicking the job posting.
Employers should be charged only per amount of the applicants submitting their resumes and not per click, because we have no way of knowing who is reviewing the job posting, leaving us at the mercy of Indeed to report basically whatever they feel like in terms of click and having to pay whatever they say, even though we agreed to have a certain amount of money set per day and even so they still allow the charges to continue to pile up to $8 or $9 per day without my approval.

After i complained about this, the rep told me not to worry about it at the end of my term it will all amount to an average of $ 5 per day and instructed me to monitor the account daily to ensure I am being charged that amount. Unfortunately with my schedule I am not able to keep tabs on Indeed daily to ensure the accuracy of our agreement. The whole thing just doesn't seem right.

The first time i submitted my job posting with Indeed it cost me about $ 25 dollars give it or take and i received 24 resumes, and 4 days ago i posted again except for this time i only received 1 resume and it cost me twice the amount. Not to mention after i posted for the second time i had to wait again for several days because my account was under review and was asked to call from my business number and send a copy of the bill to verify the business is legitimate. Are you kidding me? What was the point of sending the copy of my license, just to send the utility bill to verify my business? Complete waist of my time! So, Its safe to say i will not be using their services any more and I will certainly share my story with my professional network to ensure my colleagues are aware of my experience with Indeed.com

Thank you

Hi Jasmina, we’re sorry to hear about this negative experience that you’ve had with Indeed, and we’d really like to help. Indeed use a pay per click pricing model as we want to ensure that employers are only paying for the traffic that they receive to their jobs. With the daily budget option, this is an average that your job will spend each day. The daily amount that you are charged can vary based on factors such as traffic to your jobs, and how your competitors are performing on the site. The Indeed system takes into account the daily budget that you have set behind the role, and multiplies this amount by the average number of days within a month. For example, if you set a $5.00 daily budget, the system will ensure that your job spends approximately $150.00 within a month. We can understand that this may be confusing as it is a unique pricing model, and we have passed your feedback on to the Indeed Product team.

The reason that you were initially asked to provide documents to verify your account is because we take job seeker security very seriously at Indeed, and we want to ensure that each job posted on Indeed is a legitimate opportunity for job seekers by ensuring company information in each employer account is consistent.

We’d be more than happy to work with you on your job title and description to help attract the candidates that you are looking for, and provide some click credit on your account if you are still looking to fill this role. We can also provide you with some alternative budgeting options, as we understand that you will not be logging into your account everyday to monitor the spend. If this is something that you would be interested in, or if you have any further questions, please email sitejabber@indeed.com.

Dear Indeed,

Can you please answer as to why you are bullying people into paying for ads that should be free.?

Can you please answer as to why you have ceased responding to Cares agency. They have not breached ANY of your conditions. Yet you are still forcing them to pay for ads.

Are you aware of the rules and laws governing fair trade and advertising (competition).

It dose not seem you do. If you did, you would know that by uing such tactics, your are breaking UK consumer law!

Can you please publically respond either to this post or the review Cares has yet again updated. Give reasons why you are breaking the law. I'm sure EVERYONE reading this and more would like to know.

NOTE FOR EVERYONE WHO WAS FORCED TO PAY... YOUR LEGALLY ENTITLED TO YOUR MONEY BACK AS IT WAS OBTAINED ILLEGALLY.! Get in touch for more info...

Update - Dear Indeed,

Your response to our review. Yes, you re-enabled the account, but as you said, for sponsorship ads only. You have failed to communicate to the employer as to why., They have not contravened any of your terms and conditions when it comes to posting free ads.

You informed them that it was because they were not advertising to employ people for their own company, this is completely false. They are posting ads to employ people direct., If you would kindly point out to the public so we are all aware... where dose it say on their ads that they are recruiting for other people. I believe their ad says, " recruiting care staff for upcoming agency placements in our clients homes. OUR AGENCY OFFERS...'

I Capitalised the second part of their ad, as it clearly says their agency. As an agency, they employ people directly onto their books. Pay them through THEIR PAYE system. The fact they go out to work IN not FOR the clients homes is part of the job role advertised.!

You really cant expect that excuse to stand up when you get investigated. Trading standards, Office of Fair Trade, Office of Consumer Rights, and their own legal complaint against you for bullying and extortion.

All because you fail to play by the rules and laws set out.

So please, give us all a real answer...

Tip for consumers:
DONT!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND SPREAD THE WORD... ITS OUR HOPES THAT WITH EVERYONES HELP AND WITH THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA, PEOPLE WILL BECOME AWARE OF THEIR RIGHTS AND STOP INDEED BREAKING THE LAW AND EXTORTING MONEY FROM PEOPLE.

What a JOKE. We used Indeed in the past and had 'iffy' results. Most of the 'applicants' whose resumes we received said, "I didn't apply with you," when we phone them. I assumed that the site had just slapped some random resumes to us to make it LOOK like they got results. BUT, because we did hire one employee, we achieved our goal - one we'd weeded through the bogus applicants. Well, just this week, I took a chance and attempted to post 3 more jobs to Indeed, giving them the benefit of the doubt - even after reading all their negative reviews. (I figured that perhaps they'd been going through some growing pains and I thought I'd give them another chance.) MISTAKE! This unprofessional, unsophisticated, backwards site REJECTED my postings and asked me to 'prove my company's identity by sending them business licenses and utility bills!' SERIOUSLY? Are the so stupid that they can't figure out how to look-up this information THEMSELVES and not bother their paying customers?! Sure, if they needed to validate identity, I get it; but to inconvenience a paying customer with such trivial BS is pure insanity! If I had an employee who REPELLED my paying customers, that employee would be GONE! If I had employees who couldn't figure out how to problem solve, they'd be OUT! If I had employees who made it difficult for legitimate, 30-year companies and industry leaders, to post a simple ad, I'd have NO USE for such people! I've moved on and have posted my open positions with other reputable sites - and I'm already receiving excellent candidates. But I will NEVER bother with INDEED again - EVER - and I'll make it my business to share with everyone that this company is, INDEED, a JOKE! Move on, friends, INDEED can't help you! They'll waste your time with their exercise in futility! They're ineffective and I can't WAIT to celebrate the day when they've been forced to shut their doors for GOOD - because they don't DESERVE to be in business.

I run an employment business that is currently recruiting key workers (including several hundred needed for the production of Covid 19 tests). My staff have just informed me that our account has been permanently blocked without notice, reason or justification and that there are hundreds of applications held on the site that we are now unable to process. These people are desperate for work in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis! Our clients are desperate for these workers to start immediately!

I am told that Indeed policy is that they will NOT give an explanation and our Account Manager is unable to help us. We have reviewed all of our postings and we cannot see any reason that would justify why our account should be disabled. We are a compliant and respected business that has been operating in the sector for decades without experiencing anything like this.

As a subscriber who pays several thousand pounds per year to this company I find it incomprehensible that any service provider can behave this way. That the service provided is a job-seeking facility only adds to the irony and we are now in a position where hundreds of people will not receive a response from us (which damages our reputation) and they will miss out on work without any explanation.

I do understand that Indeed have the right to deal with whomever they choose but this policy is simply WRONG. It is damaging for businesses and it is potentially catastrophic for candidates who desperately need work now. I can now see that there are countless reviews from people who have had a similar experience with this organisation and all I can say is that I would think twice before placing your trust in an organisation that can hold and exercise this level of power & influence over your business or your future.

Some people may remember Indeed established itself in the UK by advertising jobs posted on other platforms, without subscription and without the permission of the company posting the job advertisement. As I understand it they still do this providing "free" services to capture new business whilst they treat loyal subscribers with absolute contempt.

Totally unacceptable, I am now seeking legal advice on the matter and Indeed must review their communication with customers as a matter of urgency.

I Hope you're doing great! We had a great discussion before about all the rules & regulations. As you guided me & we all learn by your team guidelines. I'm again facing an issue with your team and I wanted to discuss it with you to help me out and guide me again with this issue. Few days back i accidentally just put a full form of my company name like EFU LIFE ASSURANCE LTD. is the real name but accidentally i wrote EASTERN FEDERAL UNION which is the full name of the company but mentioning that issue they disabled my account without any warning or any information & guideline. I am BRANCH MANAGER of the company as I have shared all my details as well as my visiting card with you before to prove my validity. I'm trying to fulfill and be on your rules but be polite a little bit to guide or to give information about anything done wrong rather than disable my whole effort. INDEED didn't give any training to employers for hiring so we'll learn by your mails and by your details. We're a legally registered company in Pakistan and we're at the same address on which we're hiring and giving jobs.We have vacancies but for announcement we need indeed a platform so be humble & and a little bit concerned before diabilling because it ruins all my effort targets and routine work. We post free jobs and hire freely. We don't take any charges for hiring. We don't have any HR Department. We have to hire people on our own and it's a part of our job. I want to make an easy way to solve the problems instead of blocking accounts. Please share some more rules with me so I can learn through them easily. We're humans, we can't be so perfect to do anything. Perfectly I apologize for all my mistakes but help me out to get my account back and make it live so i can continue my work.
THANK YOU! I AM WAITING FOR YOUR POSITIVE RESPONSE

Hi Muhammad, all accounts and jobs are subject to our standard reviewing process. The account has gone through our reviewing process and our team has concluded that we will not show these openings in our search results. The account will remain in its current disabled status. As the account has been disabled by Indeed you do not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. My company usually use different site for job posting but then I came across an advertisement by Indeed saying they offer $50 credit if I create an account. I didn't get good results from other site so I try it out. But then I got so busy that I never looked any resumes came through indeed. I wanted to delete the job but it wasn't easy to find and I didn't want to spent time and also it showed I had balance left so didn't do anything until two months later. Now I see a charge on the company's credit card statement. I inquired about it and they said that the credit expires 30 days after the job posting. Somehow I missed it. However, this information was available only that instance and never appeared again. The customer service agent agreed that that's only time I would see.
I also asked about the balance and apparently the balance represent the charge balance not the credit balance. It didn't make whole lot of sense to me because the charge column was zero. They explained to me that it's previous month charges.

I have two issues:
1. The credit expiration date should be showing under account info/billing info.
This information directly affects how they are calculating the fees and therefore this information should be shown. It's like a voucher without an expiration date or credit card bill without due date.

2. Their website should be more user friendly. The billing summary page should be explained better. If they are going to show total charges from previous billing cycle in the current billing page, they should show previous transactions OR title it better. Instead of just "balance" it should be "charge (fee) balance from last month." Also, it would be nice if there is a way to enter job posting end date. I understand that they charge per click and not by period of time it was advertised, but it's still the useful tool.

My understanding is that Indeed wants more customers and they are giving out $50 credit as an incentive to potential clients. I suspect most of customers who use free $50 credit are new users. The website is confusing and the terms and conditions on $50 credit weren't very expressive. I asked them to refund the charges and they refused. I believe that my request is very reasonable. I obviously did not understand how Indeed works and Indeed does work differently than other sites. There was no way that I would come up with questions such as when does credit expire or what balance mean unless I used Indeed before. It dose make whole lot of sense to me that they offer free credit to attract new customers but then they have awful customer service policy that keeps new customers away. They have absolute no refund policy regardless of the reasons and cases.

Throughout my entire career using various online job-hunting outlets, I have never had so many phantom candidates, including - invalid or disconnected phone numbers, no one ever answers the phone, no email responses, many no shows, many literally few minutes before interviewing got another job offers.

I posted two different ones, one with higher skills set, an instructor, while another one is office clerk.

Take the office clerk, I did get "many" candidates. Not many actually have met minimum qualification. Some even lived almost an hour away. So, only a small handful are worth to contact. However, I can accept that as a norm for general office clerk position. What I find it hard to accept is the "phantom" ones, i. E. I called. Phone number is no longer in service, not just gave ringing. And, what is even more interesting is that they all have only email address with indeed.com as the domains, no alternative emails. What a coincidence. Some did not even reply to my email.

Now, let's go further. We contacted about 5 to 7 and setup 3 interviews as they were the only ones responded. But then, at the end, NONE showed up. One called just right before the interview to tell us she just got a job offer. Interesting.

Another one. A robotics instructor role. I have terminated the robotics instructor one a couple of weeks back. I paid $350/monthly as it advised that i would get 55+ candidates. Well, I understand no one can guarantee that. However, if they advertise a much higher fee for N candidates, it is indeed.com duty to have done at least some researches, or some work to search resumes, contact, etc. to find a number of candidate to match up. Honestly, I do not expect close to 55, but I got only 1! That's is totally unacceptable. Ok. I canceled. indeed.com sales personnel extended it for another 30 days for free. So, there should not be any charges. (I still need to go to my Amex to check. Thank goodness that Amex has a good dispute departement if I need to come down to a dispute.) Ok. While I do not hold faith there will be any changes, since it was free, I said ok.

Well, the only thing I expect is simply some true honest work from indeed.com to show me they what should justify the $350 vs just not paying anything.

Well, on the very day when they extended the offer, I got one candidate. Humm... I then eagerly looked at the resume. Again, the phone number is no longer in service. I emailed. Well, no response either. Well. I had enough of these.

Well, that is it. Above is simple fact about my one last experience with indeed.com; and I do feel obligated to share this with readers. I had same experience about 1 year ago. I thought I would do it this year again and thought it might change. Well, I think I have to say to myself. "you fool me once, shame on you", "fool me twice, shame on me." O well. Shame on me.

1st review back in 2015: A positive one, 4 stars: Title of Review: "common job good result": I just posted a office clerk job. Good number of people applies. This is very different result from the instructor job that I have posted. I guess it is probably the fact that office clerk job does not much requirement. The job said "you must be detailed oriented", but no where in the resume or coverletter even mention anything being detailed oriented. One can never stop people sending our resume when they do not meet requirement. It is not the site's fault, it is the candidate's.

I would like to see a site which offers "checkable" filter fields, ie. Say employer has 5 "checked - MUST" fields as the MUST criteria. If the candidates did not check these fields, they will not be able to submit a resume thru the indeed.com. Just a suggestion to indeed.com or any other employment sites.

Ever since then, the customer service was very responsive. They even called my office directly to provide help.

Therefore, I continued.

Last experience has been nothing but extremely bad.

Back in Sept, I posted office clerical job. I got overwhelming number of applicants. Well, good sign, right? I then filtered out to 7 of them. My assistant called each one of them and set up an interview, 6 of them never showed up, no phone call back either. When we emailed them, almost all said they got an offer "right before" the interview. The same answer! What's the chance of this!? Throughout my over 30 years of working in industries, I have NEVER had such experience. 1 or 2, maybe. 5 of these had the same answer!

When I posted response to the customer support, the customer service again called my office directly to offer some somewhere like $200 sponsorship to job posting.

Uhmm... I am not sure if I want to do this. Now, 1st of all, I cannot "definitively" blame on the Indeed, as I did not go into investigating it. I guess I could have checked whether the phone number is a google generated number to start out. I don't have time to do this. Because of that, I'll drop the # of stars to 3 instead of 1.

My suggestion to the indeed.com, if it is truly an honest entity, it should add in ethical/professional clauses to the job seekers to minimize this from happening. Until then, I am not posting another job at indeed.com. Also, I think this site would work only if you are paid sponsors.

Update - I heard from Indeed directly and they acknowledged my concerns / issues and quickly got my job posting up and running. Tho I still believe they should revisit their new account "protocols" they were VERY responsive and effective after the fact (so kudos for good customer care).

Original review - I am a private HR consultancy and my clients are largely smaller organizations. One just asked for my assistance in filling an open role for them. I had heard good things about the Indeed site for job posters and gave it a shot (it is a cost effective service). A but clunky to get my job set up as I wanted it but one call to their call center ironed out the bumps (a positive). I then posted the job and waited the 1- 2 hours before the post is approved (by Indeed) which it was. Then the fun started. Remember, I am paying Indeed to post my opportunity on their site (i. E., I am a paying customer). I went into my account about 2 hours after seeing the job was approved only to find out that my account was disabled and I had to fill out a form to have it enabled (remember, I am the PAYING customer). So I called customer service and they informed me this is their normal process for new accounts. Are you kidding me? So I filled out the form and submitted it and then got an email from Indeed asking that I submit documents verifying that I have a real business (BTW, when I set up my account I included all of the information they wanted for my business). I am now in a 1 3 BUSINESS day hold as Indeed reviews my information. Reminder - I am the PAYING customer. I have now wasted my time to fix their decision to enable my account, I'm going to lose 3 - 5 calendar days before my job is posted (candidates don't just look at job sites Monday thru Friday from 9-5). And I used the Indeed site to post this job on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter and those links don't work because Indeed disabled my account... so I've had to manually delete all of them. I can't believe this is how Indeed manages their business and how they treat their PAYING customers. Here's a suggestion, ask the questions you need to know about a business as part of the account set up process... NOT after jobs are posted and being networked. I've committed to Indeed (and their costs) for my client so I can't turn back. But I find it hard to believe Indeed management feel this is what a good customer experience looks like. AWFUL... AWFUL... AWFUL.
