“They actually listened to me!”

Larissa S.

I was having a lot of issues with Indeed originally, I couldn't get them to respond after taking down a very critical hiring ad we had up. It seems like an algorithm just flagged our account and took it down. But after talking with the Indeed support team on here, they got my ads back up (just in time) and even gave me a free sponsor on our most important one. Thank you Indeed support team, I really appreciate you taking the time to work with me - I knew when humans looked at it, they would know we were legit. Thank you again everyone at Indeed Support!

Ive been trying to post a add to hire employees but Indeeds awful trust and safety team continue to refuse me and pause account even adding three forms of utility bills etc...just awful. AND there is NO customer service or accountability or followup or supervisors to speak with They have lost my confidence and business and I will never promote them. I prefer a lesser competitor as opposed to indeed. Worst experience I have ever had online

Yeah. This is a total scam. If you do not add a budget it would seem they are unwilling to proceed. We had a very successful turn with our ad. - hired 3 people. Went in to do another ad and it was held. Next came the suspension followed by the appeal, followed by the rejection. We submitted all the required documentation and they rejected it again. We included MULTIPLE locations where our business can be found both online and brick/mortar, industry write-ups/reviews recently received and they rejected it again.
Now, clearly, they don't want us. We hire IC and employees - globally. We pay hourly + bonus and contract. Everything is within guidelines and their TOS. Someone should really do something about this company with this many complaints about the same thing, why not just say it: "WE DO NOT OFFER FREE JOB POSTING" and be done with it?
You have wasted valuable time and we are never going to use your service and will continue to tell anyone who will listen what a terrible business ethic you operate under with a clear unstable moral compass. Other should know before wasting their time crafting a great ad.

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother unless you are recruiting for a Fortune 100 company. These people want to get paid. That is all.

We would like to provide some clarification here. All accounts and jobs go through our standard reviewing process before they can become fully active on our site. The account has gone through our reviewing process and our team has concluded that we will not be able to show these openings in our search results.

As the account has been disabled by Indeed you do not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. If you have urgent hiring needs, we highly suggest utilizing other hiring services. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

I realized that I wasn't receiving any calls for a job that I posted on January 4th. When I went back to repost the ad, I couldn't find my original post on my account. I am also not able to post a new ad.

Let me start this review by saying we have used indeed for several years and have spent many thousands of dollars sponsoring ads in the past. Recently, our account was disabled and when my team reached out on several occasions to verify why this action took place. For about 2 weeks, Indeed relayed that it was not even listed in our account, the reason for our suspension. After the 2 weeks of back and forth, they finally advised us that it was for suspicious activity and I advised I would submit company information to verify our legitimacy, even though we were partners with indeed for YEARS. We submitted the documentation and we were still advised that the decision was final. We reached back out after this, and multiple Indeed reps advised the only way to fix this situation was to create another indeed account. Which I relayed would not fix the situation as it would be tied to our old account that was just suspended. They advised this was the only action, so my team prepared to create another account and was successful. Within an hour, our account was taken down as well, with no reason listed AGAIN.

This is completely unacceptable, as we had years worth of data on our first account, that now we cannot even access. It makes no sense either, that Indeed is specifically asking to make additional accounts when they will just be taken down anyway. Instead of just working with the account that is already around and has been there for several years.

I am a HR Business partner of leading software development company. As we have vacancies in our company i have posted a job from my company i'd but few days later my company indeed account has been disabled. I dont know why its happening i tried with multiple Account for job posting but these indeed people blocking my indeed account and saying that "Your ability to post jobs on Indeed has been disabled.
One or more of the jobs you posted on Indeed was deemed not consistent with Indeed's quality standards. You will not be able to post any jobs directly on Indeed". Please resolve my problem and inform me what mistake i have done in posting the add in indeed. Without any verification you people cant block any id without any intimation. I RECOMMEND TO USE NAUKRI.COM INSTEAD OF USING INDEED. YOU SERVICE IS VERY POOR FOR EMPLOYERS TO POST JOB ADD OR FIND RESUMES.

As a job seeker, I run into a lot of postings that lead me to other search engines and other websites you must register on as well. Honestly, I have wasted too much time; creating user names and then passwords to post the SAME INFO I had to register on the ORIGINAL WEBSITE!
I wish all HR representatives and the individuals who create these site have to use them for 2 months to find a job.

I have helped many companies with their hiring process and their sister companies, and have never had this issue with indeed because I have always been careful to make sure our ads are compliant and I was very respectful of Indeed. In December all of a sudden the company I was working for got kicked off and about 10 other companies that I helped setup their accounts all got kicked off for no reason... after lots of them running for years... They know they get most of the people looking for jobs on their site and by kicking us off and us having issues getting applicants so we can fill the positions that we need to staff. They are gonna cause a lot of us small businesses to be shut down. I am very upset as we have tried multiple things to get this resolved and nothing seems to work. None of the other sites get the volume of applicants we need to continue to staff what we currently have or to grow like we were doing till the shut our account down. All my accounts sponsored their ads and paid good money to run their postings. I just don't understand why they don't allow us. It's sales representatives with an hourly pay and commission. Its not a commission only job. Nothing illegal... I just don't understand, nor do I find it fair the way they work... If someone does something you don't like Indeed, you should give us a chance to fix it.

WE had to reach out to them! HELLO this is what we DO for a living- NO CANDIDATES= NO $$$ to live pay bills etc...
They they throw "terms" around like organic, sponsored etc... WTH is going on?
I feel like we are being extorted to pay $$$ for service that could have and should have at least the decency to have reached out or emailed us to let us know! We are a sourcing company-thats what we do- IF INDEED changed their policy we absolutely deserved a heads up-

Updated review: I was unhappy because I was blocked from contacting candidates for a job I am hiring for. But since posting this review the Indeed customer service team resubmitted an appeal for me on my behalf. Indeed resolved my issue and has agreed to let me contact again while being careful to follow their guidelines. I do think that indeed is a good source for candidates, there are many to choose from and I am really happy to be able to use it again.

Previous review: As an employer seeking candidates I paid $1 per contact. I contacted several candidates and gave them the job description we are looking for. 2 days later I try to contact one of my candidates and indeed says I am blocked. They give you an option to appeal their blocking. So in the comments I explain that I am appealing because I don't think I was rightfully blocked. I still have no idea what I did that was wrong. This is the response they send:

Indeed (Indeed for Employers)
May 4,5:11 PM CDT

Thank you for taking the time to go through our appeal process. We review all accounts to ensure our job seekers have the best experience.

We have reviewed your account and will not be lifting the suspension for Indeed Resume. Suspension of your ability to contact job seekers has no effect on your ability to post or sponsor jobs on Indeed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may...

I have had very good success with Indeed for the past couple of years, however, they have now blocked my account and will not reinstate it. On average I pay them over $150 per month and feel completely ripped off at this point because they took my money for the past couple of years but now I'm not good enough to do business with.

I was contacted by their dispute team yesterday who questioned why my computer was saying that I was in one place and I was claiming to be in another. I explained that it is a corporate computer that was programmed at our home office location but that I do all hiring at my location. They then requested a utility bill with the office address on it, which I supplied. I also supplied them with a link to the corporate website showing my location as well as other documents supporting my "claim". I received another rejection this morning.

I am giving them 2 stars based on the fact that they provide a good service when they feel like you are "legitimate", which we are. (I've now changed that to 1 star since they made me jump through hoops like a trained seal and waste my time and efforts.)

UPDATE: INDEED did, in fact, contact me and basically said, "your ad does not meet our guidelines" and that they don't share the criteria that are used to form that decision. I would like a partial refund for the money I have spent with Indeed. I paid in good faith and should have been told when I first started advertising that we did not meet "guidelines".

After years of tracking and chasing Indeed regarding my employer account and then again this year for months; I submitted an appeal to reconsider the disabling of my employer account with Indeed just for them to say:

"Thank you for contacting Indeed. We have reviewed your account and have found it to be unsuitable for Indeed.

For your reference, we have linked Indeed's Terms of Service and Job Posting Guidelines.

Please note that your account currently is not accruing costs and this is a final decision. No further action is required on your part. No additional details regarding this decision will be provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you,
Indeed"

This is a ridiculous response and I'm not going to push the issue or look for jobs on this site any further. It's a crappy platform to say the least with awful employer/employee matching. Every employer I was hired from this platform resulted in employment discrimination lawsuits. Time for a change and I'm ok with that. Beware, don't waste your time or money using this platform.

In the last 2 months, we have hired around 10 candidates from indeed for different roles like MIS, Back office, Graphic designing, and Content writing. We are also making regular payments for our account to feature our job posting on Indeed.

We follow all the Government mandated Hiring, and employment practices, and follow the due procedure on Indeed to hire and close our listings.

After multiple emails, and trying to reach Indeed and talk to someone, we have reached nowhere.

I request Indeed to help us in reactivating our account and helping us understand why such a hard action was taken against our company.

We have accounts with the highest level of performance on many Marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon, and we are a company that takes every policy very seriously and abides by that policy.

We have a staff of 200 people, with many employees working with us for the past multiple years. We respect each and every employee and provide all perks, benefits, and salaries on time and in line with all necessary government mandates.

I hope Indeed can help us restore our account.

Hi Gaurav, thanks for reaching out. To provide some clarity, all accounts and jobs are subject to our standard rolling reviewing process that can occur at any time. Our team has concluded that Indeed will be unable to show your openings in our search results and the account will remain in its current disabled status. In addition, Indeed does not allow non-job postings. This includes, but is not limited to, jobseeker fees, volunteer jobs, training and education opportunities, franchising opportunities, multi-level marketing opportunities, jobseeker employment solicitation, expired jobs, and jobs which do not represent a specific employer vacancy. I posted a job on indeed.com. I paid $75 with my post to expire once that money was used up. Yesterday, about a month after my funds on the site had run out, I had a notice from my bank that my debit card was frozen and a note from the fraud dept. asking if I had made a purchase. Indeed.com had charged my account for over $2,000 which I did not request. When I called the company they said that they were having some "problems with their system". They said they would take care of fixing it. That afternoon I looked at my account on their site and they were listing another withdrawal from my account for another $2,000. Luckily, I had cancelled my card. Later they changed it to a credit of $2,000 for use in my indeed account -- as if I would ever use this company again! My fiance who is a lawyer called them and also sent emails. They still have not fixed the situation. Yesterday after work I went to my bank and filed a fraudulent transaction form. The bank said they will handle it for me. It's a total mess. I would definitely avoid posting jobs on this site or having any financial transactions with them.

HORRIBLE SITE. Do not use. Low quality applicants and the site STEALS YOUR MONEY if you complain about their service. Kristin was the sales person that started writing "nasty" little notes referring to their policies when I POLITELY but directly said. I want a refund. 3rd ad with very poor applicant responses. Then she wrote saying "use our resume service" like I would spend more MONEY with them. STAY AWAY human resource and recruiters. ITS A RIP OFF

I am the Director of HR for several companies, and own my own recruitment agencies as well. For no apparent reason, one of my accounts was no longer able to post free postings. This account also spent $ on sponsored ads. I've tried calling into their reps and leaving a lot of messages asking why this happened? Every response was "I'll email you our User guide, all decisions are final". Another rep told me that "we are in the business of making money, our review team decided it was the best". Coincidentally, this change happened right after I decided to sponsor 18 of my 20 ads. I'm thinking that they felt I was a cash cow and want to keep me in that position. I have no idea what policy was infringed, and now I have no idea how to explain to several companies I act for. In the end, I deleted everything, and advised those companies not to use Indeed. Too bad, would be more revenue for Indeed.

Upon further investigation, a lot of these reps and decision makers are recent grads with horrible customer service skills or knowledge about this industry. Go check up the names on linkedin. Just kids deciding the fates of multinational companies.

Tip for consumers:
Very unpredictable; at end of day, may leave a very bitter taste.

We were enticed into placing an ad for professional staff with the offer of $50 free advertising. Instead we ended up with over $900 in charges and NOT A SINGLE qualified applicant for either of our jobs. I was very specific about the required credentials in the ad and still received 'clicks' from people who met none of the requirements. There should be a way to challenge how their algorithms target recipients for click through ads as I clearly never reached any portion of our target audience. Worse, when the first full month bill of $503.08 arrived I went in and tried to pause/delete the ads. Apparently their system is not as user friendly as they state and we received another $350+ in charges. Needless to say we will not be using Indeed again and would not recommend it to any professional business. Buyer beware - and avoid.

9/22/15 Update - After I posed this review Dorit from Indeed did contact me and verify that my account showed our attempt to pause/delete our ad and that I had not been back on site until the next bill came. She did give us a partial refund and offer us future credit to give them another chance. Haven't determined if we are going to do that or not but although their initial customer services was unresponsive I will say that she was helpful and reasonable to work with. So we did get closure.

Stay away! Account disabled and given a generic email stating that the job posted "was deemed inconsistent with Indeed's quality standards". Any attempt to clarify just results in emails referring to their Terms of Service and Job Posting Guidelines. Have read both several times and nothing about our ad goes against either. Our company is real (in business for over 20 years), the job we are looking to fill a position for is real and nothing about our post is misleading or offensive. Attempted to call our "Indeed Consultant" and just get transferred to a voicemail inbox with no name associated with it. Stay away, use another service. Will probably get a response to this about how they have either reached out through private message or restate the "Terms of Service" and "Job Posting Guidelines", which we meet.

**** EDIT ***** Indeed reached out and reviewed the account again. Able to post jobs now and a credit has been given. Indeed needs to change their process and actually read emails before answering instead of the generic or automated responses. Will increase the stars a bit, reflecting their response, but won't be as high as it could of been due to the experience and aggravation of this whole process.
