Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 978 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
I posted a job on indeed some i did and another national ad with help of their representatives. Between the two we had over 2200 views and 60 resumes. This job was for a very specific trade skilled position, Required 2 years experience and very specific in job heading and body. I used Indeeds template and they approved. None of these applicants were remotely qualified. I sent out a rejection email basically saying I didnt appreciate them applying for a job they were not qualified for and wasting my time and money and if they couldn't read the job heading maybe they needed to stop their search. Guess it was a little to the point but these applicants must think this is free. For days my business has been attacked with bogus negative online reviews showing the applicants name along with their FB friends. Vulgar emails, threats and even a phone call. Indeed has declined any responsibility because they dont monitor their applicants, they have no policy to deal with it nor do they care to. If you have had this experience please email me at *******@ymail.com
Advertised with Indeed constantly for over 2 years many months paying £500+ to receive lots of time wasters and totally unsuitable applicants. Advert was suddenly suspended on Monday with not so much as an email or phone call. Apparently their search quality team had received a complaint from an anonymous person with totally false and slanderous allegations. After amending an advert that had been used satisfactorily and without complaint for 2 years they have this morning emailed me to say our account is now permanently closed. So as an employer I would advise anyone thinking of using Indeed to steer well clear, they obviously do not like their customers if they do not even have the courtesy of speaking to me directly about a "complaint" and believing an anonymous person. In the meantime I have over 70 applicants I have invited for an interview and have not the faintest idea if they have received their email, although Indeed have still charged me for this! EMPLOYERS BEWARE INDEED ARE A TOTALLY UNETHICAL COMPANY.
Hi Steve, we're sorry for the experience you've had with Indeed. Our Search Quality team reviews accounts in order to protect our job seekers, and any complaints reported by them, especially when found coming from multiple individuals, must be fully reviewed and investigated. We were hopeful that updating your job descriptions to adequately reflect the duties of the job would resolve this issue, however after reviewing the positions, our Search Quality team determined that these postings were not suitable for Indeed per our job posting guidelines: http://www.indeed.com/hire/job-posting-guidelines. Indeed emails all applicants and their information directly to the employer, so although you will not have access to your account moving forward, you still have access to the candidates that you paid for.
Indeed is a site full of job scams and lies... people email you and try to get personal information and will use your resume as their own!
Hey all,
I got a call from indeed team. They said there are openings in a reputation company, but it is a paid source. To opt this service they told me to register with indeed jobs by paying 2999 RS. After completing the registration they said they will forward my resume directly to the company. I made the payment, next day morning I got the call from another team who wrks for indeed jobs ( 2nd level of registration). She said I am supposed to make a payment of 8999 RS to create a verification code in order to take up the interview with that company, she said it is refundable and the amount will be credited to my account in a week time. Since, indeed job is a well known job portal. I trusted them and made the payment. After a couple of minutes I got another call ( 3rd level of registration). He told me to pay 7999 RS to provide HR contact, according to him even this Amount was refundable. I felt something was fishy here, I stopped him right away and asked him to return my 8999 RS for which the payment was already paid by me. He said, as per the company policy the amount will be refunded with in 30 Working days. Next day I got my invoices, which did not have company seal nor
The authorized person signature on it. After a couple of days, they had switched off their cell phones through which they used to contact me. I lost 12 k by trusting this fradulent website... Guys please don't trust this website.
Link through which I made the payment was: indeedjob.ind.in
Hi Shwetha, we have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
My experience with this site is as an employer, not a job seeker. This site works like a typical organic search - the more relevant your position description is to the search terms entered by candidates, the higher your job ad shows in the results. Sounds good in theory, doesn't work well in practice. The problem here is that job seekers are generally not very discerning and will click on almost any an ad that looks like a possibility. Any experienced hiring manager knows that when you advertise a position, you always get a bunch of junk resumes from folks who are just taking a flyer. The problem here is that you pay for those resumes. I will give them some credit in that their staff will work with you to try to help, but they really have very few technical tools to work with and in the end their advice is always to focus on increasing the volume of resumes and thus increase your odds of getting the right person. But following that advice drastically raises your costs. Their reps have no problem suggesting that your budget should be something like $2,000 per month for a single position. That is ridiculous.
They will tell you that the site works like Google Adwords. I have extensive experience with that system and Indeed.com does NOT work like Adwords at all. Their internal search engine works on relevancy, not bidding on keywords. Yes, you pay for each click, but you don't bid on keywords. The positioning of your ad in the results in more akin to getting a high position in the Google organic search results, then paying when someone clicks on it.
Until Indeed invests in some controls for employers to prevent useless clicks, I don't see where this site will ever be of value to a small business.
Posted a job listing for $10 on indeed.com Credit card was charged $200. It's a SCAM. Contacting FBI.
First time user, one of my associates suggested it. Very please with the caliber of applicants so far.
There is no way to close my INDEED account. Please help! Charged over $400 and not one single applicant. HELP!

Hi my account has been disabled for no reason. We are looking to hire people for our restaurant and we lost all the applicants cv.
Hello Monica, thank you for reaching out and we're happy to help here. A member of our team has sent you a private message. Please follow up with us there so we can further assist.
Our account and sub-accounts have been suspended - in a matter of 1-2h - always after one NORMAL job posting, no explanation provided - just referring to their Policy and they leave you wondering why.
We are in the Job posting business and we know ''what's going on''. Some of our posts were the same kind like most of the offers on indeed - with a URL redirection to the SAME job boards/clients, but our account got declined... surprised?! Nope!
Our first account used the Free Credit offered; a few days after the end of the Promo - we kept posting, but without sponsoring our jobs - and boom - suspended!
We were about to start paying for jobs, but firstly, we got in touch with the Employer's support over the phone, wanting to clarify what is our balance and if the Promo has been applied, as it wasn't clear. The Agent told us that has no idea what would be our balance at the end of the month, couldn't see the Promo we had just used and such lack of knowledge made us put on hold investments until the end of the month.
I hope better Job aggregators/boards would take over Indeed soon. However, paying so much (in general) for just a job post - is unreasonable, better use recruiters.
Not even sorry for leaving this one-star review - if I could - would give -1000! We lost a lot of time preparing for launching our company on Indeed and such non professionalism is hilarious for an Awarded job board...
Hi Emiliya, all accounts and jobs are subject to our standard reviewing process. The account has gone through our reviewing process and we have concluded that we will not show these openings in our search results and the account will remain in its disabled status. In addition, Indeed does not allow non-job postings. This includes, but is not limited to, jobseeker fees, training and education opportunities, franchising opportunities, multi-level marketing opportunities, jobseeker employment solicitation, expired jobs, and jobs which do not represent a specific employer vacancy. As the account has been disabled by Indeed you do not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. If you have urgent hiring needs, we recommend utilizing other hiring services. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Like many others here Indeed disabled my employer account with no reason given. I'm a small online business looking to hire a VA. I've hired many from the Philippines through onlinejobs.ph before. No problem. Ran my ad on Indeed for about a week before they shut it down with no reason given.
There is an appeals process but they rejected that too. No reason. No refund.
I'm at a loss as to why they disabled my account. How can you ban someone from your service with no reason given and give no refund? This shouldn't be legal. Worst system I've encountered in a long, long time.
EDIT: If you needed more proof to never use Indeed, just check out the helpful response from Indeed "Support" below.
"Indeed may reject or remove any Job Ad and disable any Employer's account FOR ANY AND NO REASON WITHOUT NOTICE".
No reason, no refund, can't access your job candidates any more for which you've already paid for.
They go on:
"we cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed"
So someone is doing a manual review process which takes time, but they don't have the time to give a few words on why the account is disabled? Leaving your customers clueless with what could be wrong? I read your Job Posting Guidelines and I still have no clue what was wrong.
Look at all the people on here who have no idea why their account got disabled. And that's only the ones who post about it.
Take this Indeed "Support" rep's suggestion - "If you have urgent hiring needs, we recommend utilizing other hiring services" - and use another service. These guys deserve to fail until they overhaul their systems and show some respect for their customer's time and money.
Hi Tony, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. All accounts on Indeed go through a standard reviewing process. This review can happen at any time as well. Unfortunately, Indeed has fully reviewed your account and we are unable to show your listings on the site and the account will remain in its disabled status. Indeed or Publishers may reject or remove any Job Ad, and Indeed may disable any Employer’s account, for any or no reason without notice. Although Indeed may indicate why a job or account has been removed or disabled, we cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. If you have urgent hiring needs, we recommend utilizing other hiring services. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
I'm sorry to say is I did not receive many or if any people with three years of parts counter experience that I stated for the job that is posted.
Posted job search for our Company, was charge every other day, for non qualified persons, but costly

A scammer from Indeed is currently try to scam me, posting a PT opening for a "personal assistant." I no longer will trust Indeed.com.
Tried lots of times to delete my account and cv it will not delete horrified that all my personal details are for public viewing

We received many great candidates from our ad that was placed with Indeed.com. We will use them, again, when we have other job opportunities.
Great job search engine. I love the ability of ineed and how they can find me quality job listing within a click. Highly recommend.
Ummm this is a cool site as well... some good jobs listed... but registering to the site was lil difficult for me
I had just set up a second job listing and was in the process of reviewing the first job listing I had set up. However, not long after I had received a suspension email from Indeed compliance stating that I had
Breached "Indeed's quality standards". Upon requesting review of my account, they had asked me for proof
"To verify your account, we would like for you to provide documentation relating to your company. Please provide us with a photo of one of the following items:
Certificate of Incorporation
GSTIN -- Goods and Services Tax Registration Document
Utility Bill that contains both your company name and address (Electricity, Internet, etc.)"
I had first provided a copy of the company's water bill, with its Company name and Company address. However, I had a response stating that it wasn't valid. The second time I tried, I provided a copy of the most recent water bill, most recent electricity bill along with license to trade as a company. Again, I had the exact same response from Indeed compliance, stating that it wasn't valid, with no additional information on how I could assist.
Note, my documentation provided of the electricity and water bill were photographs of the paper version, whilst license to trade was digital. I had even made a conscious effort to circle where it stated the company name and address. Quite appalling from Indeed I must say!
EDIT: And just as I had finished this poor review, when I asked for additional information on how I could better assist to unsuspend my account, I was sent a confirmation of account suspension without even trying to properly review my suspension.

I have used indeed many times and I love that it helps me keep track of jobs that I have posted to already. Granted many of the postings for my industry are for recruiters but many of these recruiters have gotten me interviews. Right now I am doing generally 2 interviews a day for the past 2 weeks and it is not letting up.
But you have to be smart about it.
1) If you get a call from someone who barely speaks English, then do you want this person talking to a company for you.
2) Apply to jobs that you may not seem 100% qualified for by the description. Many of these are written by HR and do not really reflect the need.
3) Apply apply apply... As of right now I have sent out 231 resumes in 3 weeks using indeed. It really is not that difficult to apply to positions if you organize everything to be able to be cut and pasted. Sometimes its a pain in the butt but once you take care of the backlog from starting then all you have to do is post for new jobs as they pop up.
4) Try not to be desperate. When I started looking I was running low on money so it was important that I get into something soon. It was a mess. After two months I got a few contract gigs and since my lease was up I moved in with family. This was a strategic maneuver not everyone can do but it really changed the playing field. The jobs I am interviewing for now pay twice what those did for better companies. I also have the freedom to say "not interested." which I have done to some jobs that I can already tell from the interview are going to be unpleasant.
5) Watch out for depression. Many job seekers will go through a severe depression. Some may even need to be hospitalized. Don't freak out this is totally normal. Medication is great these days and can really help. Some is actually very affordable. And when you do get a job and are back on your feet you can stop taking it.
6) Do not isolate.
Remember its just a game. Indeed.com is just a space on the board you can move your piece into to help find more options.
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.

Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
