I have used Indeed to search for jobs and like being able to type in a specific talent and see what jobs relate to that talent. It is very helpful for brainstorming potential jobs.
I did experience the fact that many of the jobs were recycled and did not actually exist when I followed up from an application. Without calling the employer to follow up, I would be living with a lot of false hope. As it is, I had wasted a lot of time going through the application process.
I decided to use Indeed as an employer to advertise. They share that to list a posting is free, but ask for your account info for incidentals and other items. I was charged $147 within 15 days. When I called to ask what those charges were for, they just kept saying, "Well you gave us your card you must have known what those charges were". Really?!?! Three candidate resumes were sent to me, none of them even read the job listing so they weren't valid.
I cancelled the job listing and told them to delete my account. They claim they did, but true to form charges are still being taken from my debit account. What a rip off! I heard from a retired person at SCORE that Indeed had never stopped contacting her and she has been ten years in retirement. I see that the same thing will happen to me. My "cancelled" posting is still out there. EMPLOYERS DO NOT USE INDEED!
This garbage excuse for a Job Search website is completely inept, with ZERO Technical savvy whatsoever. First off, you apply for one of their listed jobs, and then you get an Email stating the employer would like to get some further information before proceeding to the next step, okay fair enough. Then you click the link to Indeed's 'Message Page' to reply, but instead, you get one of their ENDLESS ERRORS. (attached) Then you try to find 'Support', Yeah Right, and they tell you that you can just reply to the Email. Except that never works. Then you try to Contact Indeed, another yeah right, but instead, you end up on their 'Help Page', the yeah rights never stop. The problem is, that the so-called 'Help Page' is just another mountain of Errors too (attached) with no direct contact options provided, only a Checkbox that says 'No further communication needed' that cannot be interacted with, so you cannot even request that they Email you back. (attached)
I live in Eastern Virginia, the closest office for Indeed Jon Search to me is in Florida, but if I want to be contacted about their Total Technical Incompetence' then I have to file a complaint, with the BBB in TEXAS before they will bother to send me even so much as an Email response, and that is just so they can pretend to care about their clients!
We are a small business in North Jersey. We employ 4-7 people depending on the season. We posted job posting on indeed for two new hires. After a week of searching we could still not find our post.
When we called the support staff on the phone we kept getting different reasons why our listing was not appearing on the site. They asked us to verify business (which we did). Then they asked that we rewrite the listing (which we did). Then they asked us for taxation information (which we provided). Then they suggested that we expand the geographic location for the job (which we did). After two weeks and all that work the posting still was not appearing. It became apparent to us that the staff was simply giving us canned responses of things to try because they did not have a clue of why the listing was not showing up. All they were interested in were the promotion fees to feature the job. Otherwise it did not matter enough to solve the problem.
After searching on the web we realized that we were not the only small business with similar problems of ghost listings (job posts that don't appear in the search result). Indeed appears to only promote services and posters that make it the most money. Small locally owned businesses are not in that category. If you do post on the site you will get very little exposure even when paying the promotional fee of $20-$30 per day!
indeed.com is just another fancy packaged website that takes users money and gives them nothing but aggravations in return. Save yourself the money and the time. Avoid indeed.com job site.
After having our Social Team review the account here further, we were able to find additional verifiable information online and reinstated the employer's account. We reached out to the employer to notify them that we've re-enabled the position within the account and that they would be able to use Indeed moving forward.
The self serve concept of the site is convenient and easy to use. Plus the staff at indeed is friendly, and helped me quickly with a small discrepancy we had early on.
Glad we could help, thanks for the feedback.
The site is great for generating a large number of applicants. My only complaint is that there is no option for adding disqualifying questions so we can filter out unqualified applicants easier.
So my account was disabled with no feedback after I was spending more then ever on Indeed. I called my account rep and she said she doesn't even understand why I was disabled.
We both went through the policies and quality guidelines and we were doing just fine.
It's really sad because we are staunch rule followers and I go over and beyond to do what is right.
There was no warning whatsoever and no clear search guidelines broken. For a company like us to get banned there has to be major problems with these guidelines being monitored.
I am noticing they respond the same to everyone with a vague "all accounts do go through a moderation process to ensure our quality guidelines are met."
Which means we are not transparent with our moderation process, and do not want to be liable for our quality guidelines.
They say they are responding to my review privately but they are saying the same thing.
We at indeed can not saying anything specific to help you, this decision is final and we are repeating this message because this is our process for handling complaints.
Hi Casey, we have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
I have been using Indeed for a LOOOONG time now and at first you think its great. I received lots of applicants and thought it was the bee's knee's... Now after REALLY looking at the billing process I am appalled. I have found NUMEROUS incidents where the same people applied for the same position, which means I am getting charged twice! PLUS, most of the applicants I get are not even close to what I am looking for (Ex. A Janitor that applies for my Marketing Coordinator position) I PAY FOR THAT?!. I have talked with my account manager, Michael, who can't give me any real answers. I also notice that they are using my Feb. Budget to pay for 1/2 of January's and now for some reason, for the first time ever, They said they have eaten up my entire $1,200.00 and its only the 22nd. I am going elsewhere and I would suggest the same to other potential or current clients.
Hello Laura, we're sorry for the poor experience with Indeed. We'd be happy to help you with your charges and see what we can do to improve your candidate quality. Please feel free to email us directly at sitejabber@indeed.com. Thank you.
Pretty good experience, I wanted more local candidates but when we previously posted clicking "local candidates", the wording from Indeed sounded very discriminatory so I didn't want to use it.
I have been using Indeed as an Employer for over 2 years now. I have posted my job description and paid for clicks. My job posting is very specific and I have NEVER complained about paying although 95% of the respondents are not suitable candidates. I did like the opportunity to peruse resumes and contact specific individuals about our position.
Indeed decided to revoke my ability to contact the owner's of these resumes. I used their system to contest this ban and explained the situation. I received an email stating that my ability to contact job seekers was reinstated. Excellent as this is the part of the site I really get value from. Only to find the ability to contact people is still locked. I contact customer service and am told to send the email I received reinstating me. I received an email today indicating upon further review the original ban is being upheld.
The problem is there is no recourse. Customer service has no ability to explain or resolve the issue and they refuse to allow you to speak to the department that makes the arbitrary decision. The issue I have I am banned from contacting job seekers due to my Job description... but are fully willing to take my money for every job seeker that clicks my ad!
Very frustrating. No recourse and ridiculous customer resolution! I will not be using this site again and will be sharing my experience with all my professional contacts.
The business account was disabled for no reason at all i have submit all the necessary documents that they need and still no response. Poor service quality
Hello! We have reached out via PM, please reply back when you can. Thank you!
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Please email us at sitejabber@indeed.com with a link to your Indeed Resume or document so that we can review. Thank you.
Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Answer: Hi Kristina, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com with some additional details regarding your concerns and we'd be happy to take a look. Please be sure to reference this interaction in your email. Thank you.
Answer: Hi Irene, to explain, all accounts on Indeed go through a moderation process as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status. Based on your message, this is likely what you are currently experiencing. If you need assistance, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com and we'd be happy to take a look. Hi Zachariah, we are sorry to hear that you are not having a positive experience using Indeed. We have not had any further reports of current issues sending messages on Indeed so we would advise trying another web browser. We can confirm that responding to messages on Indeed via the email notification is an alternative way of messaging employers, once the email has sent this will be sent directly to the employer.
We would advise reviewing the screenshots you included in this review and deleting ones that contain personal information, it is not advisable to share personal information publicly like this.
If we can assist further please feel free to contact us at socialcare@indeed.com.
