Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 933 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
While I have had a few emails of interest from employers I applied to through Indeed, I've applied to thousands of jobs over the past three years on Indeed.com. Most of the jobs are not really available to the general public; just an assuaging of unemployment anxiety to be able to apply at major companies such as Lockheed Martin, Time Warner, Viacom, LVMH MOËT HENNESY LOUIS VUTTON, etc. When in all actuality, your application for these major companies goes into an oblivious data base where YOUR NAME RESUME AND QUALIFICATIONS WILL NEVER BE CALLED UPON!
One star is generous (see edit note for change in rating).
Twice in past two months I had my employer account disabled for unknown reasons. Appealing this decision resulted in a frustrating run-around with generic answers but no reasons provided. They kept changing the reason for the account deactivation - first it was job didn't meet standards, then it was company couldn't be verified. First time after getting no where with the "quality" team despite providing all the documentation they requested I changed the account to a different email address and opened a new one.
Posted two jobs in Feb, hired for one, paused the other after not receiving applicants who were good fit. Today we decided to close the job until we could reevaluate our posting and make sure we properly define the position. Two hours later, received message that account was disabled. Appealed decision and receive a generic "We have reviewed your account and have found it to be unsuitable for Indeed." message back.
We will find a better platform for job postings - indeed is not worth the headache.
Edit: I have changed my rating to 3 stars. 0 stars for the initial issue and lack of effort on part of the "quality" team who review the account appeals. 5 stars for Candace from the Client Success team who was able to get everything sorted out in a timely manner. If those responding to deactivated account appeals put in half the effort she did I suspect many of these poor reviews would be rated differently!
Ask Indeed when you give them $2,500 or $3,500 for the month what % of that money you are spending for minimimum wage fast food workers sending you resumes for highly skilled manegerial positions? 85 to 95% of the resumes they charge you or are from McDonalds or other fast food workers, motel desk clerks, bank tellers, bartenders etc. You fill out and check 5-years minimum experience in specific fields such as parts management, engineering, welders, accountants and you end up paying for people who are not qualified to take the trash out. When you complain to Indeed and supervisors they promise they will do a better job but it never changes. Why would they change it that is how they make their money. If you do not mind paying for 100 resumes in order to get one or two who at least have some experience go for it. I will wager you will find out the same thing we did. This company is a farce and frankly there should be a class action suit filed against them for fraud. We spent a lot of time off an on for three years after being promised better results and management intervention which was all lip service. This reveiw is based on years of exeprience not a one time bad experience.
Hi Terry, thank you for taking the time to leave Indeed a review. We're sorry to learn of your poor experience using the site and we'd like to see how we can help. Please note, when you sponsor on Indeed you're not paying for the number or quality of applicants. You're paying for your position in search results against your competitors. We'd still like to see how we can help you try to attract the right talent on our site. We've sent you a private message and we look forward to speaking with you.
I am recruiting for a school support position for my autistic son. I had signed up for what I thought was a sponsored job and set the monthly limit for $150.
I was billed twice that amount for a charge, I still don't understand because the company's whole site is misleading and is designed to have you pay for services you don't know you've subscribed to.
After contacting support, I was reimbursed half of the amount. I then tried posting an "unsponsored" job as I no longer wanted to give my money to the company, but still needed to find a support person for my son.
Unbeknown to me, I was signed up for a "pay per candidate" option where I was supposed to reject candidates within 72 hours or be charged. I was then charged $600!
I contacted them again and they said because they had reimbursed me for the transaction prior, there was nothing they can do and laid out the rules for the program I did not willfully sign up for.
Same game larger price tag.
This company is NOT transparent. They mislead people into incurring charges they do not consciously sign up for.
In my situation, the $600 they deducted should go towards my son's care, not a greedy corporation. Shameful!
Hi Jennifer, to clarify, Indeed is a self-service product and a budget is chosen when the job is posted by the account holder. In addition, you have the ability to pause or close a job posting at any time. PPA pricing also offers the ability to review candidates. Reject a candidate within 72 hours and we won't charge you for it.
We have gone ahead and sent you a DM to further assist. We'd be happy to take a closer look at what happened here!

After placing a want add on the site, I received resumes from people with no experience in the trade I posted even when my add read must have experience in the fields listed. Couldn't find a # to call at first after some research I found a customer service number and was then told that in order for me to reach the right people I needed to redo the job description and of course pay more money to renew the add. Tried getting my money back and was told they were crediting me 50.00 of the 100.00 I had already spent to my account so I updated the add per there instructions and received 2 more resumes, only one of which was experienced, then received a notification that my add had expired, I called Tech support asking why I hadn't received my " Credits" and I got a reply im not even sure what it met. I was also told that my add was at the bottom of the list and that it wasn't being seen by as many people. After a few e mails back and fourth the last one being a week ago I have yet to get a answer. Stay away!
Update,, just got off the phone with indeed rep we will see how it works now
Indeed disabled my account back in January. They stated: We have reviewed your account and have found it to be unsuitable for Indeed.
Sent all required documentation in to get my account reactivated and a few daays later it was reactivated. I've been posting the same exact ads since January and indeed has charged me thousands of dollars and as i soon as i decrease the budget. My account is now disabled. All my credit cards are in my name and match the business address which they have documentation of. Now all of sudden my account has been disabled with me using the same ads I've been using since the account was reactivated in January. I have well over 30,000 candidates that i now cannot contact because of my account being disabled. I'm always hiring for my virtual call center and now all the funds I've spent with indeed was waste. I feel very cheated. This is a disgrace and it's thievery as lost thousands and thousands of dollars. This cannot not be a general business practice for indeed, I need answers to why this continues to happen.

I am a patient guy. I moved to a new town and have been searching for a job since November (at this point it is very late June) I have put in over 60+ places here in this town through this site. I kept telling myself that maybe the economy was really that bad, and that there were no jobs or that there was so many people that were looking that they don't need me. I have called some of these place on Indeed that I have applied for and they tell me "No we aren't hiring, nor are we looking." Thinking that I was not talking to someone that knew what they were talking about I asked if i could get the name of the hiring manager so I could contact them on my own time and see if it was true. Well. It turns out that they were the hiring manger and that they really weren't looking. So I started to wonder about the other 59 jobs that I had applied for through indeed. I called a few of them and not a one of them was hiring. Indeed has essentially wasted 7-8 months of my life. I really have nothing to say to these guys other then please take stuff down if they aren't real. Do a good job of keeping thing up to date or just hire me and i will do it. But until that happens i really really strongly suggest that people don't use it. I went through monster and the first 3 jobs i applied for i got calls back the next day. 3 jobs in 7-8 months and none of them were from indeed. I strongly suggest that people don't use it.
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Answer: Hi Kristina, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com with some additional details regarding your concerns and we'd be happy to take a look. Please be sure to reference this interaction in your email. Thank you.
