Abby was really pleasant and helpful, a good resource to Johnny Was. Nice store in Palm Springs. I will most defenitve recommend the store.
I received an order confirmation for my purchase on 9/24/24. I STILL have NOT received my purchase. Trying to get a rep on the phone is difficult. This is not the first or 4th time that my purchases have either been delivered SO late or cancelled. Additionally, their policies don't allow you to exchange sale items, and Johnny Was's "Final Sale" policy is exceptionally customer unfriendly.
False advertising, zero costumer service!
Item that I purchased on sale was not available, but is still on the catalog and still on sale. The second order I made I received the wrong items. To talk to customer service was impossible, I called 20 times but no response. I regret buying from this company.
I had reached out twice via email regarding a return for two fragrance oils that hadn't been open. Neither of my emails got returned. I had to call in and finally spoke to someone who told me I couldn't return the items even though they weren't open. I don't recommend this store and I won't be shopping here in the future.
Love the clothes but their on line service is terrible. I accidentally ordered the wrong thing. I tried to call customer service and couldn't get a life person on the phone. As instructed, I left a message. No call back. I received an email from customer service which I responded to. Again no response. I called the store and had to leave a message because no one answers the phone. Again, no response. Now my item is on its way and I'll have to deal with the return versus canceling the order of lesson 24 hours after is placed.
My husband purchased a coat for me in the Bethesda store that was not to my taste. The price was over $400. There was no problem returning it but I was wearing a JW coat (also a gift from my husband) purchased two years earlier. Instead of complimenting me on the JW coat I was wearing, the manager snidely remarked that it was from the season "three years ago." Somewhat surprised, I stated, no it was purchased in December 2020, during the height of Covid. She then suggested that when I bought it, it was from a prior season! (The coat was the current line at the time I purchased it.). She also commented that the $400 coat that I was returning would sell that day because it was so "inexpensive"! This is a peculiar way to treat a customer, but perhaps I'm not high-class enough to be shopping in this store, wearing a coat a couple seasons old, and purchasing garments that only cost $400.
I ordered masks from them 3 weeks ago and I still have not received them.
They finally sent me a tracking number and every time I check the tracking number the date gets pushed back.
They still have not given the package to the carrier, USPS, but say it has shipped.
I have called, emailed, left voicemails, and still have not had a response from anyone at Johhny Was.
I will be filing a chargeback with my bank because this is a fraudulent company.
I was formally a very good customer and in this case I purchased 5 items on line from Johnny Was. One dress I received was totally see through and did not look like the picture on the website. Yes, it was on sale (at over $200 still not cheap) and was non returnable but I contacted Customer service to see if I could exchange it for something I could wear. I explained that the dress looked nothing like the one on their website. They asked for pictures of the dress which I sent immediately. They assured me that they were expediting my ticket (?). I called several times and was told I would receive a call back later that day which did not happen. The next time I called, same thing. After two weeks and no resolution I emailed and I was told to "cover up or you need to wear a tank dress or you can wear a white tank top and leggings underneath it. Or instead of layering a shirt on top of the dress, go the opposite route and layer it underneath. Make sure it's a tad longer (hitting the tops of your thighs) so you don't have to worry about the underwear situation.". That is ridiculous since I bought the dress to wear in Arizona and Hawaii. That is probably the worst case of customer service ever! So for not exchanging (not refunding) they have lost a good customer. I will never purchase Johnny Was from them or any store.
Tip for consumers:
Don't go by the pictures they show on the website. If they don't have it in the store where you can try it on, don't buy it.
Terrible customer service. They do not respond when you call, and an online inquiry gets only a bounceback that says they will respond. They do not! Also sizing is very unreliable.

S____t about it's customers. Maybe hire more Customer Service phone people. Ya think
Tip for consumers:
BE SURE you don’t have to return or exchange anything because Johnny Was makes it extremely difficult to impossible to do so.
Too bad.

Not sure. I am trying to return some and exchange others for a smaller size but Customer Service NEVER answers the phone!!!
I am absolutely shocked that this company is still functioning, they have the most appalling customer service I have ever experienced and don't care about correcting their mistakes! Buyer Beware. I called their CS dept to advise that I was relocating country and wanted to upgrade my shipping, not cancel just upgrade, they said this was impossible so just cancelled the order without consulting me. So by the time I found out and went to repurchase the item it had sold out. If your running a prestigious company in LA surely if you really wanted to provide good customer service you'd call the customer cancel the order and re-order the items using expedited shipping, it's not hard. So after this disaster I got a sorry that's it, no what can we do to rectify our mistake. I then thought I'd give them a second chance as still needed a dress for party as I had my other order cancelled! I ordered another 3 items. I then received an email a week later advising that 2 items were out of stock. (Why offer these items on your website if they are no longer available) I asked them to cancel the whole order, as I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Then to my surprise I received an email 3 weeks later, saying that 1 item in my order had shipped my credit card was also charged. I have now gone to my credit card issuer to deal with these clowns to ask for a full refund. I Will never purchase through them again, time wasters causing you additional admin you just don't need. Also don't buy there masks the elastic breaks after a few washes.
I love Johnny was styles but find the quality does not make the cut, especially silk items which tend to not hold up even when washed by hand. Overpriced!
Tip for consumers:
I have no tips other than wash by hand with woolite or gentle soap. I use fabric softener for scent and softened. I don’t wring garment but hang it wet on a hanger in shower.

I own over thirty pieces. My favorite is the ditsy flower top in black... a real winner.
I came online to put in feedback how pleased I was with the October 2020 catalog and the beautiful models they use... Online as well, diversity in beauty is being flawlessly executed. Kudos. I cannot speak for any online customer service. Living in California and having visited Denver, I will say that in store, the customer service is first rate and rivals anyone's. As for the merchandise, they are doing limited runs of unique embroidered designs. The fabrics alone they use are not only expensive, but slanted toward easy care (machine wash/tumble dry) and that is a super fine line to walk. I am sad people missed their opportunity to buy something they wanted for super cheap. If it has sold out it's gone. If you love it, pay for it when you see it. As for masks, I will point out this company was one of the first to do this when everyone else was sewing their own or bugging their friends who could just to get anything, and they donated an equal amount to healthcare workers as part of the deal. That means something to me. I give them five stars. If they have outsourced their online customer service, they can consider investing in that like they do in their design and materials... but as I'm lucky enough to be by a store, they have my business.
Loved Johnny Was when I lived in California, unfortunately we moved to Florida 3 years ago, quality and styles are not the same you can tell management has changed, no comparison from the original Johnny Was (too bad) looks like most things are going from bad to worse.

I hate that I had to give JW one star. Don't let the beautiful clothes suck you in. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! JW stores do not reserve online orders. Your ONLINE order will be sold to the first customer that walks in the store that wants to purchase the same item. You will receive an email two weeks later saying JW no longer has the item. Don't waste your time.
On 1/24 I ordered 3 items. I received 2 of the 3 items and 1 wrong item. On Dec 7 I called Johnny Was because the wrong item sent to me was $89 vs $248 for the item I purchased. The call was ridiculous. It took 30 mins for the customer service person, Allison, to comprehend the issue. She asked me to send her a picture of the item with the tag. I responded to her email with the image on Dec 8. On Dec 11, I had not received a response. I wrote them again and complained about not receiving a response. Then they write me and say sorry for the delay, but the claim is under review. Then I receive an email with the FED-X return label. I pack it up and mail it back immediately at a FED-X office. It is now Jan 2 and I have not recieved any information regarding my claim. And Allison promised me that once they had tracking info on the return, they would immediately ship out the original item ordered. So much for getting my item. I am now disputing the charge on my credit card. I will no longer shop at Johnny Was. I am done.
I am an experienced on-line shopper. I mainly keep what I buy, but sometimes make a return. I am experienced at it. This company fails to honor its own return policy. I purchased one of their expensive T-shirts which is eligible for return and which I just received 2 days ago. The website will not allow me to return the item and their customer support just gave me the run-around (saying I had to buy something else) and cut off my questions. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND IT IS THEIR LOSS.
Tip for consumers:
Do not purchase their products unless you are 100% sure that you will keep them. And who is??

They are not honoring their own return policy.
The arm pit is choking me. Even on Sale, this pretty shirt is NOT WORTH IT. And the sleeves are too long. Size L. Me 62 inches tall, Size L, weight 160 lbs. Purchased on Poshmark@ mehran.
Tip for consumers:
Purchase in person and try it on. Do not purchase online.

JW FINAL SALE ITEMS, NOT RETURNABLE? I just received the 2 items I purchased for the end of summer sale, which also are not returnable! Well the problem with this is that the items were labeled with the wrong size on them so they do not FIT, NOT EVEN CLOSE! I WEAR AND ORDERED XL, the size says XL but measures a SIZE L. This is the second time I have been SCREWED by JW. I think they know the sizing is off and try to PASS THE ITEMS OFF on unknowing customers who are then unable to return the items. Oh NO, I got stuck once with an unwearable item but NOT 2X. This time I packed it up shipped it back and if they dont REFUND I will call my credit card. And I will be DARN PICKY buying from them in the future! BEWARE SUMER SALE ITEMS LABELED W/WRONG SIZE at least 2 times for me so how many pieces of the clothes are LABELED WRONG JW?
Tip for consumers:
BEWARE of SIZING being WRONG on 50% SUMMER SALE UNRETURNABLE CLOTHING!

I was on their site this morning and tried to purchase some items at 40% additional off. I go to pay and it just spun and spun.
I got out and went back on this time in line to get on their site, only to have made my purchase and entering the code EXTRA40, ONLY TO HAVE IT CHARGE ME THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE ITEM. IF YOU TRY TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY WILL EITHER DUMP YOUR CALL AFTER YOUVE HELD FOR A HALF HOUR OR IT GOES TO VM. IN MY PRIOR EXPERIENCE THEY NEVER RETURN YOUR CALL. SO PISSED. FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME!
All white models, Not the women in America I know and admire.
Why do they all look alike. How superficial. Take my name off your catalogue list.
I'm in love with a dress and skirt I can't find anywhere now. Not worth $500 though. Material is not that great to be priced that high.
Impossible to get them on the phone. They are using Covid 19 as an excuse to cut out customer service
Update: Super slow return processing! I contacted the company to ask about my return, which tracking showed had been delivered five days before. The response was this: "Please allow 2-3 weeks from the return shipped date for your account to be credited. Depending on your bank, it may take 1-2 billing cycles for the credit to appear on your statement." Two to three weeks to process a return? Never buying from these people again!
Johnny Was is one of those companies that makes you pay for return postage. They sent me an item of clothing that was defective a quilted piece with broken threads in a prominent place. So I emailed them and asked for a return label. Usually when a customer receives a damaged or defective item, a business will send out a prepaid return label when that is requested. But what does JohnnyWas.com do? They demand photos to prove that the customer isn't lying:
"Please attach photos of the damaged item to this email. Once we receive your photos of the damaged item, a prepaid shipping label will be sent to the email address we have on file."
Really? I understand when companies do that for things damaged or broken in shipping, since they may have a claim they need to document and they need to instruct their warehouse employees on how to pack shipments. But for defective clothing, which was packed and shipped in that condition? It's insulting. It doesn't matter whether this request for photos is based in mistrust (I assume it is) or whether they want a record of the flaws for their quality control department (they can take their own photos when the item is returned, so I'm not buying that excuse). I won't be shopping here again.
I received the Jonny Was coat today. I looks great, even better than I expected. Also I like the packaging, it so tasteful and beautiful! Thank you!
I bought the Nimue Sweater Duster at a Boutique in Lake Tahoe I was so excited to wear this statement piece. Unfortunately it literally started unraveling after 1wear. When I reached out to Johnny Was with my problem I expected them to stand behind their (very $$$$) merchandise and provide me with a solution, replacement, or credit for future. They told me to get lost and go back to the store where I purchased "that that store would probably return the product to them anyway. I had proof of purchase tags and photos. Buyer beware of a brand that does not stand behind their products!
Photos attached this was my description to JW:
I purchased the Nimbue sweater duster this fall at xxxxxx boutique.
The sleeve happened after first wear I sew so I tied off the loose thread, chalked it up to a minor defect, and went on…after the 2nd wear I started to notice loose embroidery threads popping up. By 3rd/4th wear I noticed the pilling on the sleeve. Now 2 months in and 10 wears and the defects have spread like wildfire. Now it is to the point that I am embarrassed to wear what should have been a coveted item in my wardrobe.
The item has not been washed or dry cleaned
I recognize the fragile nature of a fine embroidery, therefore this piece has been handled with extreme care
I even take the item off when eating or drinking
I have not cut any of the loose threads
The item was purchased in the correct size so there has been no chafing, rubbing, etc…
The item has not caught on anything to cause this, not that would really make a difference because the unraveling of embroidery is happening all over the sweater.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t bother buying any products from Johnny Was from any retailer, they do stand behind their products even if manufacturers defect.
Very very expensive. Unfortunately the clothes I ordered were made in China. As a result I ordered extra large
