I started with Laithwaites just before Xmas 2020. Father in law's been using them for years. Love 90%+ of the wines I've tried but they're not for novices. Had a poor champagne bought for wife's Xmas and called to mention it was tasteless. Money was refunded without question so I have to say I've had excellent service with them so far and f-i-l has always been pleased.

I made one purchase on their website, I took a gift package. What I received was not as advertised and when they offered to give me free delivery (8 pounds) if I subscribed to an unlimited membership and saved my card details on their website, they said I could cancel at any time. That's obviously not true, it's literally impossible to cancel the subscription from your profile, I've sent an email and if they give me any more headaches for the 8 pounds that I "saved", I will report their business to authorities. Good thing I used a card that will expire soon before they steal from me.

they should be criminally charged for lying the way they do. Scammy development and business practices need to be abolished.

I have very pleased with Laithwaites including their customer service. I get email notifications is pending shipments with plenty of time to defer. I don't like the auto holiday shipments where you have to call or send back card to opt out of shipment. But customer service has been excellent and happily cancelled the special shipments. If your ignore email or snail mail then this club is not for you.
Been a customer of Laithwaites for many years, have absolutely nothing bad to say about them, we love trying new wines and have yet to find any to send back! Even though they say you can send one back if you don't like it!
Delivery has always been spot on, as have the wines, it's only fair to give an honest review, we will continue to use them! Thank you.

Ordered our wine 6 weeks ago and were told we would have it in 10 days. We have called the customer line and get lied to. If I contact the online person they cut me off. The tracking number Laithwaites gave me does not exist! DO NOT ORDER from them!

I have been using Laithwaites for the last year and found their service, quality and value for money to be excellent. I was honestly shocked to see how poor their rating was on this site. To be clear, I am not sponsored by or affiliated by Laithwaites in any way, but felt it necessary to put the record straight. From my perspective, they have been first class in all departments and I will continue to get my wine from them as my first choice.

Easy to use online, nothing complicated. Site is easy to navigate to find what you're looking for or you can choose one of Laithwaites selections...tell them the sort of wine you want and let them decide (I have found this to be very good).

My wine was left on the front porch of my home and this is NOT a safe or secure location. In addition, my order contained very clear instructions that the wine was to be taken to the local postal outlet if no one was home. I immediately called the customer service line to make a formal complaint and was promised a call back to address my disappointment. No such call back was ever received. Although Australia Post was at fault, it was Laithwaites responsibility to protect my order. They did not do that, nor did they follow up on the inefficient delivery service.

Don't use this company if you cannot be certain you will be home on the delivery day.

Good service when I signed up several years ago but no more. Emails and chat requests are ignored. Telephone service is of little help. Orders are immediately charged against my credit card, but not shipped for two to four weeks. On the bright side, they do have a very nice selection of wines.
I ordered a good value start off dozen but was unaware that the fine print meant I was going to be debited direct from my account 8 weeks later for another case (over $200) without confirmation. Have had major difficulties getting a refund.

I thought that partnering with National Geographic would be a match made in heaven. The wines were great and the note cards were like going on a mini vacation. Sadly, the story goes downhill fairly rapidly. Customer service is simply not helpful or responsive. I sent a very lengthy email on the plethora of problems I experienced entitled " why I have to break up with you". Customer service simple gave a form letter just wanting to confirm I was cancelling my membership. I hope that my letter gets to Tony Laithwaite, after all, his name is on the advertisements. I'm glad I never gave a credit card, but I had checks sent back telling me I already paid. Unfortunately, they still have a check somewhere in there possession but I can stop payment. It's too bad, like I said, the wine was good for my tastebuds, but the hassle was too much for my liking. I wish them good luck! I will continue to enjoy National Geographic!

Would not recommend. I placed an order 3 weeks ago, they charged my card immediately, and I still have not received the package. They pushed back the shipping window twice already. Luckily, I was able to call to cancel the item and also the club membership that they make you sign up for when you order your first case. However, I was told by the customer service rep that there is no email sent out to confirm cancellation of either of these - so now I will have to keep checking back to make sure I am not being charged and receive my refund. Very disappointed in this transaction. Seems like a scam. We'll see if I ever get my money back. I am skeptical.
I received a shipment of wines without getting a email,which was requested, refused the shipment at the door as instructed and haven't received the credit back on my card! They say 3-5 business days, its been more and their customer service is horrendous. It's offshore and they won't transfer to the states! Those agents ask for all types of information but can't resolve squat! Called three or four times with a bevy of incompetence. Cancelled my sub and waiting for my credit. THANK YOU DENNIS

Ordered 6 x cases of red wine and after almost 2 weeks waiting, only 5 x cases arrived. I rang them directly but they kept saying they would follow up with Aust - post.
I have paid for 6 cases and still only have 5 in my possession.
Will advise you when I eventually receive the missing case.
Have tried other wine merchants and they leave these people for dead.

I don't know how they got hold of my number but I run a pet taxi and pet care business and not anything to do with wine and I've blocked their calls due to having Truecaller installed on my mobile but these total idiots still try and phone me without success!
Shocking service on two occasions payment not processed properly and delivery not received on the day requested that was paid for. Totally given up and account closed after being offered a free bottle of wine as a good will gesture from a £250 order. I've found a easier way of getting hold of wine you drive to Tesco, put wine in trolley, get home and pour a glass.

Similar to another reviewer, I "signed up" for the National Geographic wines of the world. The wine came and we virtually didn't like any of it. We suspect they don't store the wine properly, which causes it to go bad. To add insult, despite sending them timely notification to cancel all future deliveries, they ignored our correspondence, shipped another order, delivered it without obtaining the legal signature required in NY, and are now putting the burden of getting their wine back to them on us. Terrible wine and customer service! Stay away!
Ordered on 24 May. Got email stating they had run out. Emailed 4 June asking where my order was they replied 6 June saying it was ready to go. Today still no wine! Not even a track n trace so obviously it still hasn't left. Very very poor!

Purposely misleading, probably fraudulent subscription service hidden in fine print and hard to opt out - have to email customer services, no information in the order confirmation that this would be on going, no correspondence until large credit card charge - do not believe this is would be good value for what has been sent - try to print the misleading website and it prints showing a lot more conditions and information obviously showing they are trying to hide it until people are looking - dodgy have reported to commerce commission
Unlike a lot of people in reviews I have never had a problem with getting a delivery on time. My main issue is with the wine club. They didn't send a email informing me of delivery until the day before. Making it almost impossible to cancel if its inconvenient that day or not wanted. If you say you want to delay a case by a month they still send the next case at usual time and not 3 months from the last one. Making sure they still sell you the same amount of wine in any year. I recently cancelled my regular delivery but an aggressive girl in customer service made this as difficult as possible. When I order a box of wine there is always pressure to order more. I have no problem with the quality of the wine but the pushy sales people have now put me right off. Waitrose from now on

My late father rang these muppets several times to tell them he didn't want to be in their 'wine club' or want any of their wine. They still sent him a box after he'd died and took over £100 off his credit card in the days after he'd passed away. I've rung them, emailed them and written to them and each time they've said they've cancelled his 'membership' but still the letters come every week, which upsets my mum. I've had enough and am reporting them!
I've been a member for three years until today, when I quit. The customer flexibility and control promised in the marketing of this wine club is absolutely not supported by whomever is in charge of the customer support operation. I actually feel sorry for the representatives on the other end of the line who have to try work with what has proved time and time again to be a defective system. More than once, a simple request has turned into a chain of errors and failed responses, involving multiple emails and phone calls attempting to resolve. Coordination between the marketing and service teams doesn't appear to be a thing, and within the support network itself, accurate tracking seems to be non-existent. It would have taken so little for me to be a happy customer!
I ordered their introductory offer. Most of the wines are okay- not even close to quality wine though- that in itself was a scam. And I was just going to write this off as a lousy purchase- however, the Chianti in the shipment was actually bad- it fizzed upon opening! It was obvious that the lot had re-fermented because of a bad process.
If this was my business, I would be embarrassed by the poor quality and would resolve the situation. They decided to give me $4 instead of sending a different wine as I requested. I spoke to their customer service, and all the supervisor gave me was attitude- when this was THEIR MISTAKE! Have not yet received the pitiful $4, but I guess that shows the wines themselves are not even worth $4/bottle. I will forever warn everyone to stay away from this scam.
I joined the club using the package that came with National Geographic Magazine. I thought I was smart by using a check instead of a credit card, but this did not give my experience any better. They cashed the check but never sent me the wine. Each time I called the CS would promise my case "will be escalated to the manager immediately", but for 4 months I still did not receive any wine.
Please stay away, save your troubles...
