You may ask yourself should I purchase a refurbished laptop from these guys, well you can definitely purchase a bargain, and they deliver the goods swiftly with the added protection of insurance. Please ensure the laptop meets your requirements when you order as it can become troublesome if you have to return for exchange, however Kelly Wilsons customer service went above and beyond to meet my needs. People are quick to write bad reviews but not so quick to offer positive ones. Thank you lap top. Com for meeting my needs.
They send me a laptop that won't even turn on. They don't respond to my urgent request for refund and are not afraid of customers complaining to Consumers Affairs. They don't provide you with a phone number and are basically impossible to reach.
I ordered a brand new laptop and received a refurbished laptop that does not work properly. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUSINESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Everything was dodgy from the start. I wish I had done my research.
Recently brought a laptop from Laptop.com.au
Couldn't believe the cheap price and ongoing support.
I would highly recommend this business.
Great range, quick and efficient service.
Received a broken laptop instead of a working one. I have tried contacting them twice, and they have yet to respond. No phone numbers are available to contact anyone.
Customer was not receiving our email responses though all other customers were at the time. They refunded in full on 09/04/15 as per their request.
I ordered a new laptop with Windows. Got a laptop with outdated & expired version of Windows & the battery was completely dead. They did send through a new battery, but we've had no end of trouble trying to install a new version of Windows. Has cost a lot of time & effort. THANKS FOR NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. DON'T EVER DEAL WITH THIS BUSINESS, NOT WORTH IT.
Hi Bernadette. I'm glad we were able to replace your battery for you and have been able to locate our pleasant correspondence regarding that, thank you. I'm not sure if we were made aware of your software issue as I can't seem to find a record of any relevant correspondence. However, I am sorry to hear this and the inconvenience it's caused you.
I ordered 2 Brand new laptop and DID NOT RECIEVE IT. Tried to call first but NO NUMBER. Sent email and got a response that someone is investigating. After sting of few emails between dodgy courier please and this company, I am asked to report a police complaint. More than a month has passed and this company is alleging that someone at my house received the goods despite knowing that recipient was at 7.24PM with a different name on it. I have told them many time. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS BUSINESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! I wish I had done my research.
UPDATE:
Rohit confirmed 1 May 2017 that there is only one family at his residence and only one female.
Rohit reimbursed 1 May 2017.
---
We find our courier to be to be excellent most of the time and this is the one and only occasion in many years that we have had a disagreement on whether goods have been delivered to the specified address. To explain to anyone reading this, the goods were delivered to the house with a signature. The courier driver remembers very clearly delivering it and his GPS tracker puts him at that location and at that time. He can even recall the person who signed for it at the address as being a female of seemingly Indian decent and that she had two children with her, a boy and girl. The courier driver has gone back to the house several times but no one is home. He has provided a photo of the house to ensure it's the correct house. It is a large house and there may be multiple families there, I have not received a response from Rohit regarding this so I can only guess. I am convinced that both Rohit and the particular courier driver are being honest about this, so if that's the case then the only explanation that makes sense is that someone else at his address has received it on his behalf but not passed it on to him. This is why I recommended to Rohit to make a report to the police. This matter is still under investigation and I hope Rohit speaks to everyone in his household as perhaps the person at his address who signed for the delivery is a partner, friend, or relative of someone who lives there. Rohit, we would really appreciate your cooperation on the matter as we are trying our best to get to the bottom of it. 26/4/17
It is true that this exchange had since been at least partially resolved, it was by no means one that I consider to be a happy ending - it was merely an ending that I could begrudgingly accept.
The bottom line is that yes, they eventually sent me a replacement laptop and they are being truthful in their statement that they upgraded both the Ram and the hard drive.
However, the replacement laptop came with a further expense of postage, and was even worse than the original they had sent me. It had the same insufficient graphics card, but the replacement added the most unwelcome addition of reducing the 3.5g processor to a barely functional 2.5g one.
I for one would much rather have received the product I ordered rather than what they sent. I would have even preferred the first laptop to the insult of the second.
So sure, this has been resolved but I am far from a satisfied customer - a more accurate statement would be that I am a customer willing to accept trash, because trash is superior to the headaches that serve as the alternative.
Unless you find some kind of strange joy in dealing with the legal system, it is best to avoid laptop.com.au
I made a purchase from them and the product they sent me had vastly different specs to what was advertised. After a brief exchange, they agreed to send me a computer that actually meets the specs that I ordered, upon me sending the less powerful computer back. So I absorbed the added cost of posting the laptop back to them, but that turned out to be a mistake.
Now I have no laptop and laptop.com.au are boldly admitting they have no intention of sending me anything.
There is a lesson to be learned from my experience: when you are dealing with a blatant bait and switch, don't be foolish enough to think it was an accident. Dealing further with such a criminal entity will only result in further losses (and headaches) on your end.
I received excellent service. Kelly who I dealt with was friendly and very helpful, she sorted out any issues very promptly and I am very happy with my product.
Thanks so much for working with me Jill, you're a star and I really appreciate your kind and helpful attitude!
I did a bit of research on refurbished laptop specs vs price, with the aim of getting a machine for my young son to game on... essentially a modest-priced laptop with decent specs. Price ranged considerably (in some cases double the price for same spec)... with laptop.com.au being amongst the most competitive.
So I ordered a laptop through their website. This was the only bad part of the experience... they do have a pretty archaic billing process which, after purchase, made me and my bank a bit nervous... to the point where my credit card got locked as a suspicious transaction. There was no immediate receipt of purchase (that was manually processed the next day) that had alarm bells ringing for me.
I contacted laptop.com.au via email and Jesse got back to me promptly. He was professional, courteous and most importantly reassuring. I sorted out the credit card lock and everything else went smoothly. I ordered the laptop on the evening of Thursday 28 October and the laptop was couriered to my door Wednesday 3 November. Less than 5 business days turnaround.
The laptop has met my expectations of purchase with no issues (at this early point).
So in summary, I got a well-priced refurbed laptop delivered speedily in a COVID-delayed delivery environment. Staff were prompt at resolving concerns/issues. All in all a 3.5 star experience, which could easily be a 4.5 star experience if they upgrade their billing systems.
Tip for consumers:
Be aware -rather than alarmed - that they use an old-fashioned billing method.

They sent a laptop charger that had a crack
In the casing (from overheating) and the cable had a cut with wires exposed and fraying. We asked for a replacement. At first he said yes and implied he'd send one on (date). We waited for it to arrive but never did, so we asked for a tracking number. Then he changes his story and says there is nothing wrong with using it like that, that it is normal for a charger to be like this. We continued pressing and he was very rude and arrogant. Making excuses why he couldn't talk etc. Finally he agreed to send after we sent this one back, so we'd be without a charger until he received this one and then sent one back. Finally he agreed to send it with proof we sent our current one back, which we provided. We received the replacement one today and now I know why he refused to send it without sending ours back. Out of arrogance he's sent the worst charger you could imagine. It's like he dragged it behind his car on the road, how anyone could think it was acceptable to sell such a product is beyond me. It's filthy, unbelievably scratched, the wires are loose and pulling out from the charger point. The computer is required to have a 45w charger. He sent a 60w. Clearly not a mistake a "computer guru" would make, purely done with the intention to destroy the battery and computer. He should not be allowed to operate under Australia's consumer protection law, poor products, faulty products, suspicious warranty. It won't be long before his products cause a house fire or electrical burn.
I ordered a HP Envy 17 jo10tx, and was a bit skeptical due to the price, however it arrived so quickly and works perfectly!
It shipped with a 1TB HDD instead of a 2TB HDD, and Kelly very promptly fixed this by sending me the 2TB HDD, and even let me keep the 1TB HDD, sending a free USB Enclosure so I can now use it as an external drive. Amazing service and Kelly was on top of it!
Would absolutely recommend to a friend.
Thank you so much for the very lovely review, Oscar! You have been so wonderful, understanding and patient - thank you. It's been a delight to deal with you and please feel welcome to shoot me an email if any questions in the future.
My wife is upset with her laptop and the "service" received when trying to address the issues with it. Having read her emails I can see why
They didn't want my business so I took it elsewhere! It doesn't cost anything to be polite to your online shoppers!
Purchased laptop for my architect uni student daughter and got out of it for nearly half the price of retail shops and the service was great
Thanks so much for your kind words and the review, Glenn! I'm so happy you're happy and your daughter too. Thanks again for sending your mate to us, that is very much appreciated.
Hi,
Thought that i would write a review about these guys to balance out a bit of the negatives. I bought an Macbook air from laptop.com.au last month and foolishly did not read up on any reviews as they were an Australian company with a physical retail shop, so no red flags for me.
After I had chosen and paid for my laptop, then did I decided to read the reviews. Much to my horror they were getting slated by everyone and my heart sank as I had already paid them. I thought that I would get the wrong product or something sub-par and damaged and I would have to fight with them over the next few months to get my money back.
The order was taking some time to be shipped, although the website claims express delivery, so I attempted to cancel the order as the product had not been dispatched. I received an email an hour later saying that the order had been dispatched and i thought "dodgy *#@kers", they are sending it right away so that i cannot cancel the order and get a refund. Now i wait to see what they send me...
When the mac book arrived a week later i took it straight to the mac shop still in the box to have it assessed and to make sure that it matched the specs as advertised.
To my surprise everything was as stated on the website and with all genuine apple parts, in perfect operating condition. I got exactly what i ordered and there was no damage to it at all so this is why I'm giving them 4* and a good rating.
The only problems that i had with Laptop.com.au was with the time it took to dispatch and deliver my product, although i can understand the delays in posting due to the Covoid-19 situation. It would also be nice to mark the macbooks if they are considered "vintage".
I would suggest anyone buying a refurbished laptop, in my case Mac book to do their homework on the model as my one is now classed as vintage by apple so they will soon cease to make replacement parts.in which case if it fails in a year then it will be as much use as a paperweight!
This is baloney.
I bought a ex-demo model from laptop.com on January 17th 2017, the internet would freeze, my brother fixed it, nothing to do with your instructions Kelly.
The cd opener would NOT open, my Dad has to use a paper clip as Kelly suggested, what type of laptop is this?
It is a dodgy laptop, Kelly Wilson would NOT provide me with a NEW REPLACEMENT MODEL OR MY $1004 REFUNDED, I'm still under the 1 year WARRANTY. Kelly sent me shipping instructions and advised me via email I HAVE TO COVER SHIPPING COSTS to rectify the laptop defects.
My Dad informed me there were negative reviews on here and I decided to WARN POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS DO NOT BELIEVE THE STAFF(Kelly Wilson) THEY ARE PAID TO SELL YOU THE LAPTOP.
Please report them to Fair Trading, the more complaints the better for consumer power and a REFUND/REPLACEMENT NEW MODEL.
It was a waste of time and $1004 on faulty software, faulty cd opener, faulty USB port(I could NOT find my files) this money came out of my savings account and I'm a full-time student.
My parents can NOT install or use Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, Word, Database; the MICROSOFT PACKAGE SHOULD HAVE COME WITH THIS FAULTY LAPTOP.
I wish I had known about this site BEFORE I PURCHASED MY LAPTOP.
I WANT MY $1004 REFUNDED!
2 years later... I would like to add Kelly Wilson has blocked me so I cannot communicate with her via email.
I would like my refund or replacement as the warranty has now passed.
Did I pay GST for this junk (laptop)?
Kelly Willson tried to silence me, by getting the company's solicitor involved, here is the extract:
"On the manager's request I have forwarded your correspondence and screenshots of your review to the company's solicitor. Please do not send me similar emails or unfortunately I will be obliged to also forward them".
Sadly communication has been very difficult with this customer and as of today we have still not had the opportunity to confirm any issues.
This laptop was purchased 17/01/2017.
23/02/2017 (1 month after purchase) we were advised that 'the internet freezes and collapses'.
I advised simple instructions on how to quickly reset the software back to how it was when received in order to eliminate it being a software issue.
We did not hear from them again from February until June so we assumed the issue was resolved and the customer later confirmed that it was.
23/06/2017 (5 months after purchase) we were advised that 'the cd drive is not opening on the laptop, you sold me a lemon' and customer demanded a refund / new laptop. Toshiba does not refund/replace after five months as it falls under warranty. This is also the case with the other laptop manufacturers.
As per Toshiba's advice I advised them to try a straightened paperclip in the reset hole and that if no luck with that then under warranty we or Toshiba could view the laptop and replace the optical drive on the laptop, or if it suited them better we could even simply get Toshiba to send them a replacement drive which is easy to pop in (video tutorial provided) - we like to provide as many options as possible.
27/06/2017 customer then advised that the 'USB drive' (I assume they mean USB port) does not work. I then advised that either Toshiba or we can look at it (and provided shipping instructions), whichever suited them better. Given the former communication difficulties I truly thought it best for all to jump to looking at it, despite that it could easily be a device issue.
For the record I am not on commission and I help everyone as best I can, including this customer.
