Jeanette sent me a nicely discounted quote for some lighting, will update feedback after receiving product, Thank you!
I ordered 5 Feiss Grecian Bronze LED lights and wanted an explanation of why they were less expensive than the regular lights. I was told the only difference is that they are LED, they don't make them anymore and the photos were a good representation of what they look like. NOT! I got them and they do not look like the photos. No way to put a light bulb in them and they are awful lighting. Even though they were close out and advertised as non-returnable, I was told I could return them. I wanted to make sure just in case they really didn't look like the photos. When I called to return them, I was told they are non-returnable and that they never told me I could return them even if they were not as pictured. BEWARE OF ORDERING ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY LIE AND POST FALSE PHOTOS OF PRODUCTS!
I ordered lights thru Patricia. Lights were of poor quality because when lamp was turned on the harp showed thru the shade! Very strange looking cheap looking and unacceptable! When I asked Patricia about returns she told me " no problem... Free returns, no restocking fee, and we will send u a label". She never said make sure u keep all original packing materials. When I tried to repackage lamps packing material broke up and it was impossible to use these materials again. Lamps were packed SO tight that material broke up while unpacking! Upon taking to customer service l learned for the fist time that lamps can not be returned since I did not have original packing materials... My plan was to pay for UPS to pack lamps for me. DO NOTBIY LAMPS FROM THIS COMPANY! They are not reputable and not working with the customer but against customer so they can keep your money. Even if I knew that all original packaging had to be saved their was almost no way to take lamp out of box without damaging packaging material because it was packed SO tight. Rip offs
Ordered a $620 chandelier from Lighting of New York the end of Sept. When the fixture arrived, about 3 wks later, 1 arm did not light. Was told in Oct that a new chandelier would be sent and that I should return the old light in the new box when it arrived. I was also emailed a shipping lable and was told there were 20 of the chandelier in stock. When I had not received the light by Thanksgiving, I called again and was told that the chandelier was now out of stock. I was then told that packaging would be sent so that I could make the return. It is nearly Christmas and I still do not have the packaging, nor do I have a working chandelier. The Lighting of New York web site is now showing the fixture is again in stock. I have made many, many, many calls to the customer service department at Lighting of New York. There has been absolutely no help or follow thru on their part to get the situation resolved and promised calls are never returned. They have not honored their guarantee. While Lighting of New York does offer good prices, I could never recommend them.
I ordered a Kichler fan with light and when I received it, they had shipped the wrong finish. I immediately called customer service and I was told to send photos of the side of the box where the finish was indicated and a piece of the fan to show the finish, which I did within 5 minutes of the call. I told the customer service rep (Josh) that we had an electrician booked for the next week to do all the electrical work in our basement, so I needed the correct fan asap. He said they would ship it immediately and email a return shipping label for the other fan. Instead, I received an email within an hour asking for photos of the damage. I emailed back that there was no damage, we were sent the wrong finish, to which I received NO RESPONSE. I left three voice mails for customer service over the next few days (never got a live person again) - NO RESPONSE. I emailed again and said I must have the correct fan right away. NO RESPONSE. It's been over a week and I haven't received a return shipping label OR the new fan. I have never written a negative review before, but this experience has been so extraordinarily bad, I felt compelled to warn others. I would never order from this company again, under any circumstances.
We are sorry for the negative experience that you had and for the unusual delay in resolving your issue. Your replacement was shipped yesterday and is expected to deliver tomorrow. We expect to have your return call tag issued to you by the end of the day tomorrow as well. We are sorry again for the issues with getting this resolved. Please let us know if we may be of any further assistance.
Lighting New York is an online "supermarket" for lighting fixtures (ceiling, wall, desk, etc.) made by a wide variety of companies (see "Shop by Brand" for a list). They also offer some other household fixtures, such as fans, mirrors, desks, and other furniture. In addition, they apparently have human consultants available by "chat" seven days a week, to assist the shopper in finding a particular type of light fixture, etc. (I haven't used this service).
Before visiting Lighting New York's website in February of 2011, I had searched for several weeks to find a pendant (hanging) light for a stairwell that would be easy to pull down (to change the bulb) and then pull back up into position. I finally found one made by Kichler that I liked, and placed my order via Lighting New York (the Kichler website automatically linked to Lighting New York).
Pros: Lots of different lighting fixtures available for review. The account information page is well organized, and the "Order History" section provides a link to a detailed history of each item, from order through shipping. The fixture I ordered arrived in perfect shape, and worked perfectly when installed.
Cons: my particular order "hung" in "Processed" status for 14 working days, after which I sent an email via the "Contact Lighting New York" option, asking "what's the delay?" Two days later, I got an automated "Your order has shipped" message. This is good. Better would have been no delay at all: maybe Lighting New York could automate a "What's the hangup?" inquiry to the shipper, if an item isn't shipped within, say, 10 working days.
Aside from this minor shortcoming, I found Lighting New York to be a useful website.
So far my purchases have been great! Let's see how the woody fan fairs when it comes in and is installed.
Answer: Chat worked well for me both times I used it. My question was answered in 5-10 minutes.
Answer: Hi Aron The answer is yes we can and do ship around the world. However in order to give an accurate shipping rate we would need to know exactly what you wish to purchase. That would give us the weight and dimensions in order to quote. You can call and speak to one of our Lighting Experts that should be able to help you. Thatk you for the opportunity to make you a customer of Lightingnewyork.com
Answer: When did you place the order? You can/should call your credit card company to file a dispute. Did you get any payment confirmation (did you keep those things in writing)? ANSWER: Yes, I talked with RBC Bank in Georgia, which said that the merchant had made the dollar conversions and only the merchant could reverse it. Lighting New York said it was nothing to do with them and could not reverse the phony charge.
Lighting New York has a rating of 2.5 stars from 72 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Lighting New York most frequently mention customer service and credit card. Lighting New York ranks 21st among Lighting sites.
