Just needed extra work part time. And of course you need a resume so I thought I was getting a free template ends up you get signed up for subscription right off the bat. So I'm out $27.00. But looks like it would be good for someone looking for a full time career.

I, like many of you, signed up for the 2 week service. When I went to cancel my account, it was too late and they already charged me $34.95. When I chatted with a customer service rep, mid typing she ended the conversation. So then I called. What did they tell me? That since I've paid, why don't I take advantage of the services? Hmm I don't know, because I already have a job and don't need your services. What I do need is $34.95 in my account to pay my bills! This company is a sham, stay away! You sign up for one thing, and they sign you up something else.

Dear Nicole,
Thanks for your comments.
We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime and if you don’t cancel your subscription within the given period, we will bill you at the monthly rate of $34.95. We state this on your payment confirmation page and again in your payment confirmation email.
Many subscribers continue to use the service and update their resumes for each job they apply to, and appreciate the continued service. We don’t sign you up for something else; we just want you take full advantage of the services you’ve already paid for. If a subscriber does not wish to continue their subscription and does not want to be billed further, we have multiple ways by which to cancel: You can call our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; you can cancel by live chat, or, by writing an -mail to customerservice@livecareer.com. You can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
Best regards,
LiveCareer
I signed up for a $2 two week trial to help me wrote a few cover letters, and when the trial was up I did not use the site anymore. Two months later I was charged 36$ which was all of my grocery money that I had left. I talked to their customer service and it turns out I had to cancel the subscription instead of it automatically cancelling, which in my opinion is a sneaky underhanded practise, however their customer service representative helped me get the two months subscription back quickly and kindly. 5* for the people who work there but 1* for the company's practises!

Hi Kristen:

Once again, thank you for your positive feedback and please feel free to contact us if you have further questions or concerns.

I will report this site to the FCC. Fraudulent company... I never signed up and they are taking $39.80 every week. Watch your statements carefully and change your card info. The 888# on their site and 800# on my bank statements are non-working numbers. I even got charged an international fee which proves this company is NOT based in San Francisco.

Hi Margaret J.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service were unable to get in touch with our customer service. Our phone lines are up and running. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. It is billed every four weeks, if not cancelled. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
As an international company, LiveCareer processes payments through LiveCareer UK, Ltd. with its offices in London, England. Some banks charge an international transaction fee, even when the charge is in US dollars. These fees are charged by your bank and not LiveCareer.
Please contact me directly with the email address you used to create your account or the last 4 digits of the card that used to purchase and card holder’s name so that I can take a look at it personally and resolve this issue quickly for you. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com
I look forward to hearing from you.

Anna

Knowing that this was a paid service upfront would have been nice. Of course I love the resume I just worked hard to create, so I want to download it. The fee isn't expensive but it leaves the user feeling forced and tricked.

Thanks, Jasmine, for the feedback!
To clarify, we offer two types of accounts, the first one being a basic access account that gives you the chance to try out our builder before deciding to purchase our premium features, this account allows you to download a plain text version completely free. We also provide a full access account for a small fee that grants you 14-days to print, email, or download your documents using our copyrighted templates, but these features are NOT listed within the free account.
In addition, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee for our 14-day trial if you are not satisfied with our services.
Andrea was very helpful and courteous while helping me get my account cancelled. Call was completed in a very time-efficient manner and she thoroughly explained all of the information that I would need to know if I ever choose to return to LiveCareer.
Date of experience: July 16, 2016
I don't even want to give this company one star. They are a total rip off. You can not print any resume you build and are still charged a small fee with each attempt. On top of the small fee you are also subjected to having $40 per month deducted from your account. Do not get involved with this company. They are many reputable companies to help build your resume in the USA, the company is located in the Philippines, regardless of what they tell you.

I used their website for a day to build my resume, and paid 3$ which I feel is fair. They charged me 25$ after 2 weeks which seems their policy. I spoke to their customer service and the guy was polite and promised me the money will be refunded. Which never happened, so I had to get with my bank and dispute the charge Looks like they fought back with BOA and reverted the charge. Their customer service is outsourced and the sweet words are a lie. I would suggest to be careful, they were unwilling to send any details thru email when I called them again regarding the same.

Hello, Muralidharan:
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and we're deeply sorry to hear that you experienced this with our company, under no circumstance do we like to hear this kind of news. Upon further account evaluation, we are unable to offer you a refund at this time. Our decision is based on the fact that as a customer, you chose to contact your financial institution before contacting us to provide the refunds to your account. Since these charges were disputed, you will need to contact your bank so they can provide you with the proper resolution. Once your bank intervenes, it is no longer up to us, because the charges were already disputed.
We hope that this information helps clear things up. If you need help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us directly, as we'll be very happy to assist you personally with anything you need. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please feel free to contact us in case you have further questions.
First off I don't think their resume format was impressive, I made the mistake of not reading the find print after purchasing a resume for $1.95. After a couple of weeks they charged me $39.80. I called and expressed how I felt and wanted to be refunded fully. They did a pro-rate and state they will refund me $29.85. I have not received that yet. I did learn a very valuable lesson! Read the reviews on any site you plan on purchasing from before you purchase. It will save you much aggravation. If I would of reviewed their site, I would of realized what I was getting my self in to.

I've tried multiple cards in your spanish website and none worked, even tho I've used the cards to pay for other services. So not only did it make me loose hours of work on a stupid page, now ill have to do it all over again because i can not use the one i had on your official spanish website on this one.

At your earliest convenience, please contact us directly at social@livecareer.com please make sure to include your account information. We are certainly committed to changing your mind about us and making sure that you receive the excellent customer service on which we pride ourselves.
I recently signed up on this website LiveCareer and I am really frustrated! First of all, the customer service is to beg for. With a deadline to submit my cover letter for a "Masters" Degree 📜 program, I failed to download the cover letter on one page. I revised the cover letter, meaning I counted the number of words that appeared on the second page, edited the original letter by removing the same amount of words in hope that I would eventually get my one page to no avail. I re-edited the letter again and again loosing almost two times the amount of words that were on my original letter and kept on getting two pages. So I decided to change the cover letter to a different version and same results. After wasting almost two days, I eventually gave up.
But "Oops" now I can't get them to delete my mode of payment off there website, even though I have made it clear, I am not interested nor will I ever be interested in their services ever again. Websites are hacked all the time and I don't want my credit card staying on sites that I no longer have use for. What will it take for these people to delete my account and payment information off their site?
PS - The number in the Account number field is my cancellation number. I don't have an account number as I don't use the services any longer.
Tip for consumers:
LiveCareer has no right to keep a customer’s credit card on file after they explicitly state that they no longer need their services.

I used this website to make a resume for my college. The resume creator was super helpful and guides you every step of the way! Although, one thing to watch out for is that there will be a recurring cost eventually, so keep an eye out for that!
I also just wanted to say that I had to talk to someone from customer service, his name was Juan Morales, and he was so fantastically helpful and patient. Overall, fantastic website!
Date of experience: September 19, 2017
Hi Carolyn!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Juan Morales; we’ll be sure to pass along your positive review. If there’s anything else we can assist you with just contact us.
Initially, I thought this company stole my money. They did give me the impression that I pay 7.50 per month for a service and can cancel anytime, but took 95.40 from my credit card for a yearly (rather than monthly) subscription. I felt as if I was lied to. However, I called them this morning, and someone picked up the phone in less than two full rings. The lady I spoke to was EXCELLENT. She was kind, and very understanding. She downgraded my subscription, and refunded me 93 dollars. This company is not as bad as first impressions might indicate. I say give them a try. You will hate how the rates are sold to you, but you will love the service.

Joe, the customer service representative really made my day. I am currently in search of employment and Joe made it easy to process my refund of the membership fee that I was unaware of or forgot that would be charged. He explained the membership and its benefits very thoroughly. Although I can't afford the services at this time. I will highly recommend to others that are looking for the perfect resume. Thanks again Joe!

Hi Tasha,
Thank you so much for this review. We are glad that you were pleased with our Customer Service team and how Joe was able to clarify your doubts. We are committed to providing great customer service. Thanks for the feedback, it's very important for us.
The format was quite easy to work with. The only issue I had was after spending a couple hours creating my first resume, all the information was erased! Very discouraging and irritating. Also pricing was not made clear upfront.

Hi Clara,
This is certainly something we can look into. Thank you for providing your feedback!
Customer service was great. I enjoyed using their website. It was informative and had really neat features beyond resumes and cover letters.
They really worked with me t find the best price for the services that I needed.
Amazing

Thank you for the enthusiastic review and for letting us know that you landed a job, that’s terrific news! We’re glad to know how pleased you are with our resume builder and your finished resume. Wishing you the best of luck in your career!
Excellent templates. Easy customization. Great customer service! If you do NOT want to get billed on automatic renewal you MUST call and cancel. This is like most businesses these days... everything is setup on auto renew until you cancel.

Hi Rich,
Appreciate the 4 stars, Rich! Happy customers make our days brighter. Thanks!
I was starting from scratch with my resume, and it had been years since I'd even thought about my resume or old work experience. My Perfect Resume helped me get the first job I applied for! The tips (like "2-3 word phrases") and even specific examples of phrases that employers are looking for helped me start thinking about my own specific skills. Also, having the formatting done for me saved me TONS of time. Definitely recommended!

After the trial period i was charged two months even though i didn't use their services.
There is no any email or any information regarding the charges every month. I just randomly checked my credit card and found out that i was charged.
Customer service is horrible. They said it is how they work. They said they don't have the policy of refund once paid.

Hi Vasudha,
We were quite disturbed to hear that initially, you did not receive the best customer service that we have to offer! It is common that some of our customers overlook the terms of our subscription conditions and we're glad that we were able to clarify any confusion. Our records indicate that after reaching out to you, as a courtesy (and based on your service usage), we issued you a full refund for the recurring subscription for which you were charged. We're glad that we were able to find a resolution, provide you with our top-notch customer service on which we pride ourselves, and leave you with a better impression of us! Thank you!
Great app that has templates to say exactly what I would like to say just can't put them into words. I love that you can modify any part of it at any time. I am very impressed with my cover letter. It is so professional sounding.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and rating us five stars!
Quick and easy to use. Docked two starts because I was not able to login to my account to complete my resume for about a week. I had actually given up but came back for one last check. Glad I did! The whole process is so easy to use and it take the headache out of finding the right format and template. Would defiantly recommend.

Thank you for the awesome feedback, Fareedah, we rely on input from customers just like you to make our service even better.
On June 2,2014, I used your site to build a resume and told to pay $1.95. I paid through my credit card. I just used the site once and I dont eve remember my log in details so I did not bother opening the site anymore. On June 16, I was billed again $39.95 for the same transaction. This is not fair as I did not sign for membership and was not informed that I will be billed after 14 days.
Please let me know how I get my refund.

5 star rating. My daughter and I were trying to make a resume for her job search.
I myself have never made a resume since I work for family businesses all my life.
At 52 I did not have a clue. This website was wonderful it took all of my worries away. Just fill in the blanks and the resume makes itself. This is a must tool to have if you are new to the resume writing and for older individuals who are getting back into the workforce. BTW she got the job!

The helpful tabs when building my resume were great, but I had a difficult time trying to cancel my service. I sent a message regarding by subscription but never received a response. $40 is an awful lot to spend per month... I AM looking for a job, after all!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT let them bill you for more than one month. Write resume asap and save/cancel service. For $40-$80 that you might get charged by livecareer you could have an actual person in your community write you a tailored resume.

I cancelled and issued 2 full refunds in the amount of $79.60. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. I have also sent you confirmation emails for your records.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience.
