This is a great site to use when building a resume and composing a cover letter. I will be starting a business soon so I will no longer need the service. However, I'd have no problem going back to it or recommending this site to a friend!

I hadn't had to look for work in 30 years so didn't know where to start. Your site made it so easy to make a professional resume. I really like the step by step along with the suggested wording. Worked so well I got the 1st job I interviewed for. Thank you so much for helping me land my dream job!

I wanted something quick and easy - well not so quick and not so easy. It imported my current resume and completely screwed up the formatting. When I tried to rewrite it, it kept formatting it incorrectly and after hours of messing about with it to save it I had to pay for the pleasure. Not so much, but the auto renew function really is just a way of stealing money. I usually pride myself on not getting caught by auto renews, but this one certainly managed it. And seriously £20 a month for a resume service - SERIOUSLY!
The only positive thing about my experience was the live chat customer service who sorted it all and cancelled my subscription in about 2 minutes flat. Now THAT's service.

Tip for consumers:
If you really have no other option but to use this site, cancel IMMEDIATELY after buying.

Hi Lucy P.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our site and encountered formatting issues. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free.

We also explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We send a payment confirmation email upon purchase stating the date amount of the auto-renewal. The details of the subscription are also listed on the sales page. A monthly subscription makes it easy for our customers to customize the resume and cover letter for each position for which they are applying, and also to avoid interruption on the service. Customers can cancel at any time, and we do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing and Product team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Best Regards,

Anna

LiveCareer took over £200 through direct debit that I wasn't aware of, till my account got cancelled and cost me £450 for overdraft while I was away traveling + ruined credit score.
All for uploading my CV
When I called for a refund they refused "because there wasn't a recent month transaction" - due to my account been cancelled because of their drive to debit when I was away traveling.
Absolutely disgusting that a company like this can still exist stealing money from people bay by day.

I used this site and was under the impression that it was a 30 day trial as well and was taken by surprise to see almost $40 dollars taken from my bank account with not even an email with some notice or anything. Due to the amount of reviews I've seen from just today this site should look into sending out perhaps a warning email to the one you provide when signing up. The site wasn't even too helpful for me I couldn't send the template of my email even after I had paid for the trial.

Tip for consumers:
BEWARE OF THE CONFUSION OR YOU WILL BE $40 SHORT IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

Hi Brandice R.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. The subscription that you purchased is a 14 day full access for $1.95 that auto-renews at $39.80 on the 15th day, billed every 4 weeks. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings if service is no longer needed.

Our record shows that you self-cancelled your account and we refunded the $39.80 on September 23. I sincerely apologize if you encounter an email issue. I sent you copies of your resume in PDF and Word format to the email address listed on file.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously and hope that you will reconsider your star rating and negative review of our site and service. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. Loved their updated designs for the resumes. Website was very easy to use. I couldn't get the link to work to cancel my membership within the trial period. Since my husband is out of a job and I'm looking for a new one they were gracious enough to refund the fee. I know this a choice for companies so I was pleased they had integrity to refund the money.

I had a wonderful, user friendly experience with live career. The website helps you to layout your resume in prcise order and format. It handle all corrections and the part I love most is when the website lets you know when you've included too many words in a section of you resume or if your word need to be simplified. This website is the greatest!

You sign up for the 10 day trial for unlimited access for 10 days and think $10 for 10 days seems reasonable and fair. In the very very very fine print they state that they will auto renew after the 10 days is up. When you call to cancel, they will have a VERY difficult time finding your account and then try to sell you on more their worthless service.

Greetings Leah B, I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

Cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Once it’s cancelled, we send a cancellation confirmation email for your records. There are times that auto emails can get picked up as spam or junk mail. Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder.

They do not make clear of how charges are being made to your credit card. They do horrible job of communicating the correct billing information as to how to cancel the subscription. When you delete the account, they will continue to charge your credit card without informing you that subscription is still LIVE. Spoke to customer service and only thing they were able to do is refund 1 month. Horrible business practice. DO NOT SIGN UP.

I called in because I wanted to cancel my subscription. The customer service Representative whose name is Italy, helped me out by letting me know that since I am a student I could receive all of the benefits of the website for only $3 a month! I was so excited I had no idea that I could save so much money and still have access because I am a student.
Italy was so sweet talking to me about my degree and encouraging me with the use of the website! I have to admit I wanted to keep the service because I was so impressed with how caring and down to earth the customer service representative was!

Thank you Italy!

If Livecareer was a reputable site then it would;
1) pay compensation to the people who had money stolen from their bank accounts and
2) fix the tricky and obviously fradulent way people log on to use this free site.

They will not and therefore Anna B. This site is NOT bonafide.
You can spread love and best wishes and touchy feely happiness all you want.
BUT the company ripped me off and MANY others and continues with the same fradulent practise... No Change

It promotes free resume builder and then after you build your resume it asks for a small fee ($3.95) to save your resume. Once they have your credit card then they charge it $34.95/ month. If you call them on it they say you have a subscription and would be charged monthly continuously unless you cancelled... the subscription that you never knew you had! RIP OFF!

Dear Tammy,

Thanks for your comments.

It is true that we promote free resume builder, because it is free to create a resume, utilize the tools, designs, templates and text tuner samples. However, to print, email or download, we do ask that you activate a subscription which is only $3.95 for the first 14 days. We make it quite clear, both on our payment confirmation page as well as the payment confirmation e-mail that we send you, that if you do not cancel your subscription at the end of 14 days, your subscription will automatically renew on a monthly basis.

Many subscribers continue to use the service and update their resumes for each job for which they apply and appreciate the continued service. If a subscriber does not wish to continue their subscription, we have multiple ways by which to cancel: You can call our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; you can cancel by live chat, or, by writing an -mail to customerservice@livecareer.com. You can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.

I completely disagree with the haters on this site! And I don't work for them or something, just a girl who needed to rebuild her resume quick!
I did the 7 day trial paid the 4.95, I did have to have my bank authorize a one time international charge, I then printed the resume and multiple cover letters I created with no problem at all. I then cancelled my acct. And have not had any extra charges no funny activity or anything. Overall an awesome easy expierience!

Live career is a total scam! DO NOT USE! These immoral people charge you for services on a monthly basis for doing absolutely nothing for you. If you do a resume and pay a few dollars to print it like me they continue to charge your credit card $39.80 a month to use their resume service. I am not sure anyone would sign up for a monthly charge for a * resume service! They hide recurring charges in the fine print. Immoral scammers. I got scammed for 18 months from these *. They should be charged with credit card fraud! Where is the investigation?

Hi Jeff,
We are very sorry that you received the wrong impression of our service and our subscription. We would respectfully like to further explain some information and provide you with the following guide which may clarify any doubts you may have regarding your account: Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free. To further our user experience, we provide the option of a 14-day trial for a small fee.
When you select our 14-day trial enrollment, it provides all details on screen that after the 14th day it will auto enroll into the monthly subscription service. It also explains, that you can cancel at any given time. This alert is also given when the credit card information is requested where it explains that, unless you cancel, you automatically authorize us to charge your account every four weeks at the current rate of the subscription.
Lastly, when you finish your enrollment process, an e-mail is sent explaining this as well. Auto emails can get picked up by the filter as spam or junk mail, redirecting this to the junk/Spam folder. Please, be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder.
We apologize for any confusion this may have risen. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns regarding our products and services.

Watch out if you join livecareer.com. I joined to write a resume and tried to unsubscribe a month later. I did not want to keep paying the monthly fee when I was no longer using the site. When I canceled online the site sent me to a different page after pressing "cancel subscription button", the next page asked me if I was sure I wanted to cancel which I clicked yes. I was then taken to yet another page which looked like a review of how my resume was written. I did not scroll to the bottom of the page where I was once again asked if I was sure I wanted to cancel? I had thought I was done. 6 months later I saw on a bank statement I was still being charged every month since I had though I had canceled. I had to call on the phone and cancel. Reputable company do not play games. Think about this when you subscribe.

We’re very sorry if this caused inconvenience for you, Bruce.

We'd like to take this chance to explain that if you did not receive a cancellation confirmation email that means that your account was never actually canceled or that something might have happened during the whole process.

Once any user processes a cancellation the system automatically generates an email with all of your cancelation information for future references if necessary. That being said, our team would love to review your account interaction to see if there's any history of a cancellation attempt.

At your earliest convenience, contact our Customer Service Team and they will be more than happy to review this for you.

Do not use this site. Not only is the formatting bad on the resume but even though I cancelled they continue to charge my account. I never received any kind of confirmation that I signed up for the monthly service. It gave the option for the one week service which I checked and agreed for my credit card statement to be charged. Never agreed to the monthly service. It seems they make their money by scamming consumers and not providing a decent resume service.

I am a 49 year old recently unemployed no computer skills female. I am headed for a job fair and had absolutely no idea how to do a resume. I was able to easily create a great resume in no time. This site makes it super easy.

The customer service was great after I brought up a problem. Their programming in one of the templates made a cover letter appear to have an error in it. I was super bummed. I mean, I was applying for a PROOFREADER position! But, they fixed it, refunded my month's fee and renewed my subscription for half the cost. So... pretty good. I really like the template service better than just about any other one out there.
