The person that actually wrote my resume was great, she did a fantastic job. I later realized that liveCareer had been deducting money out of my account for 3 months. When I called they were more than happy to cancel my contract, Oh! This must be the one that I never agreed to, but the real frustration comes when trying to get the money credited back to my account. The person you are speaking to can not transfer you to anyone, not the billing, not a supervisor, no one, but what they can do is send a request to the billing dept. and billing will respond to you with an email that you never receive. I will now go to my financial institution to deal with the financial concerns and then the BBB to deal with the poor business practice.

I jus cudnt afford $24.95mth anymore. So the agent offered $4.95/mth, which I could not pass up. Kristina was kind and understanding about my financial situation. I was definitely ready to cancel but her considerate service changed my mind.

I signed up for the free trial period, started a resume, due to possible career change. I ended up not leaving my job and then forgot about my account here. When I checked my credit card I saw the charge and that jolted my memory. Through my own fault, I forgot to cancel my account. I called the customer service agent and they very politely and professionally assisted me with canceling my account. She didn't pressure me into staying and understood my reasoning. I appreciate that.

Tip for consumers:
If you sign up for free trial period, pay attention to the dates.

Total scam. Why doesn't the BBB shut this site down. I used the trial period to build a resume. Cancelled too late for the first months charges but I understand, that was my fault for not paying attention. I cancelled in June and they have proceeded to continue to charge me for the next 3 months. I used their live chat feature and wanted to reach through my computer and strangle "Celeste" on the other end. They mysteriously didn't show any record of my cancellation 3 months earlier but they would be happy to cancel my account today. Great so can I get a refund for the past 3 months charges for $34.95/month, you can see I didn't log on for the past 3 months because I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT? To which Celeste replied No. She then quickly disconnected.

I was very upset because I thought I signed up to only have me résumé for 14 days, without the clear understanding of having to cancel my package. I soon noticed $25 coming out of my bank account from this program. Furious at the loss of money, the lady through customer service refunded my money back and canceled the account for me. I greatly appreciate this gesture and her patience.

I thought the format and was pretty good, and I completed my resume, but then it turned out I couldn't download it without paying the subscription fee, the 1$ and something cents didn't seem so bad, but after a few weeks, I checked my bank account and noticed Live Career had charged almost 40$, and even tho I didn't use the service for the month, they would not refund my money. It would've been a good product were they not totally ripping people off.

The website was easy to understand and navigate. The templates and tips were very helpful. I did have a small problem on the editing/spacing. When I was listing my employment history on one of the templates and I made some edits it did not change or adjust the spacing. It wasn't that obvious but it was an issue. Other than that, it was easy and very helpful.

I used the resume builder to create my first resume in over twenty years! It was so easy, and the instructions were clear. I loved the tips that popped up alongside every section I was going through. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars in my book, was the fact that I wasn't told up front that although I could create all the resumes I wanted, I would be charged if I wanted to have them. The charge was minimal (1.95), and I gladly paid it, but I didn't care for the fact that I was hit with it after I'd gone through the entire process.

Be aware that they hide a monthy subscription fee in their Terms of use even if you only want to do a 1 time Resume for a couple of bucks. Then when you notice it on your Visa statement its a pain in the $#*! to try and get a refund and they will only refund the latest charge. Hopefully you catch it quickly. Writing the Resume on their site was dificult the info I entered (dates) kept changing. I had to save it as a pdf. Or word doc. (can't remember) and modify it on my computer becasue their software sucks.

Dear John,

Thank you for your comments.

John, we do not bury or “hide” the fact that your subscription is auto-renewing. It is in the bullet point list of the subscription page; it is in the bullet list on the payment confirmation page and it is clearly stated on the payment confirmation e-mail we send to you. We also offer a variety of ways to cancel your subscription: by e-mail to customerservice@livecareer.com, by telephone (17 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year), or through live chat on our site. You can even self-cancel your subscription by going to the “My Account” section and cancelling from there. The refund that was provided to you was processed as a one-time courtesy credit.

We apologize for any inconvenience if you have encountered formatting issues, but we appreciate the feedback so we can continue to provide better services.

If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com

Scam. I googled "free resume builder", LiveCareer came up at the top as "Free Resume Builder". Great! I thought. Spent ages inputting my information and when I was finally done, I clicked DOWNLOAD PDF. The next page I was taken to requested credit card information. I had to make a payment in order to download my "free resume template". Time wasted!

I want to be clear, I understand resume builders/templates are a big resource and paying for them is not my issue. My issue stems from the fact that I was told this was a free service and in the end it wasn't.

Evidently I used them to get a resume made about a year ago. I didn't remember doing that and evidently I had signed up for a free trial. Money was charged out of my bank account so I called and was able to get it canceled. I give the four stars because the customer service rep I talked to was extremely helpful and was able to do everything I asked.

I used them to make one time CV FOR £1.95. After i have been charge $ 39.80 two months in a row tough i never subscribed for that service! After calling them to solove the problem tghey said that i didn't cancel after 14 days so it auto-renews and got into full payment. Which after checking was £14.95 and not the amount debited from my account. They couldn't even explain themselves and then they tried to confuse me more saying some lies.
I never got any confirmation email whatsoever from them that i subscribed to something which clearly i didn't. I asked them to re send the emails or the details of what i have done but they couldn't.
They big on fooling people and get them money so please bee aware and avoid this scam site!

I created a resume. When I downloaded it the bullets didn't line up and I had to retype the entire thing. It wouldn't let me move or delete them. On live chat I asked for a refund of my original $. 95 since I wasn't able to use the product. This was the response I got "The charge is valid since the account was used. The bullets that do not line up could be the software you are using to view the file". Ridiculous! Don't waste your time on this produce.

What a joke. I spent a good amount of time building a resume, in good faith, since it said FREE resume builder, then when I got to the end I have to pay? I would not even mind this, but I work in the IT business and think it is dishonest to do this. I WILL NOT give any money to a company that is not up front about wanting money in the first place. How can you trust them to cancel your account after the trial period? I will give them that, they do say you will be billed if you do not cancel your account after the trial period. And did anyone besides me notice that only one person, AnnaB responds to all the complaints? SO disgusted with all of these so called companies that get by with stuff like this from people that are trying to make a living. I have to wonder, are all the good reviews from their own employees?

Dear Patti,

Thank you for your comments. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. If you like what you see, we ask you to pay for a trial subscription. The ability to print, email, or download your resume are listed as a feature of the paid subscription and are not listed as a feature of the free trial. We also make every effort to let our customers know that our subscription service is auto-renewing and that if you don’t cancel before the end of your trial, we assume you want to continue using our service on a monthly basis. We offer many ways to cancel your subscription -- e-mail, live chat, or by phone. You can even go to our website and cancel your subscription from there.

With regard to just one person responding to complaints: Patti, we do have more than one person answering our customers’ e-mail (whether it be negative or positive, but found it convenient to create one profile. That is why you see “AnnaB” answering the posting on this website. And no, our good reviews are NOT from us. We have hundreds of thousands of grateful and satisfied customers who have found their perfect job because we were able to give them the necessary tools to make their resumes and cover letters stand out from the crowd.

So far so good. Really like the flexibility to change between formats. I have created many resumes on Canva and once drawback they have is that once you start down a design path youre pretty commited to certain elements. I really like being able to iterate quickly between designs.

I was writing a CV in their site and I was charged $3.90. Overall i was happy, until i saw a bill of $54.00 in my credit card 1 month later. They are thieving, lowlifes who misleads and lie to their customers. I am extremely unhappy and discouraged. I am a student, living costs already and rent are already heavy burdens, this was the last thing i needed.

Asking too soon for review, I don't even know what I can do yet, but so far i'm not happy about spending over 2 hours on your site with no indication I had to pay just to print. A fee is fine, but nowhere until I finished was I told I had to pay to actually use it.

I bought access to my resume. A cheap $2 or whaever. I must have cicked the get emails button or something and I'm getting all of these no reply emails about people trying to contact me. But there's no mail folder on the site. So how am I supposed to get back to them? I did a google search and found out about all these people getting ripped off. I noticed the automatic subscription in the terms when I bought my resume and knew I had to avoid that. So after noticing my bogus emails, I cancelled. Cancel quick! I haven't been charged for anything but my resume!

Dear Steph,

It sounds as though you are getting Job Alerts in your e-mail. These are notices to let you know of available positions in your area that you might be interested and/or qualified for. To respond to any of these notices, simply click onto the underlined job title and it will take you to the website of the company that has the open position.

If you wish to unsubscribe from these alerts, please scroll down to the bottom of the page of any of these e-mails, and you should see a notice to click which reads “to unsubscribe to these alerts.”

We hope this helps

These guys are horrible! They keep taking my money and I couldn't find a phone number to call until I got on my E-mail confirming I had cancelled my "membership" that I hadn't signed up for. Then, I called and they said they'd refund me, which they did, but then went right back to taking my money! I'm a college student, I was out of loads of money and they keep taking it! I'll probably have to cancel my credit card so they'll stop taking so much.
