Signed up for a trial of Resume Builder and used it for several resumes. Abigail at Customer Service reversed charges for service billed to credit card for cancellation immediately made online when pending charge showed up on credit card account. No wait time for service by phone and very courteous assistance throughout the call.

Tried to sign up for the cheapest service and it signed me up for $100 a year that they would not refund. So, I got to download a resume template for $100. Then they snuck an email through that did not go into my primary mailbox saying that I had to cancel by 7/7/15 to not be billed again. 1 and a half months later I notice the charge on my credit card during a time when I really need the money. Thanks! So of course they would not refund the money. Do yourself a favor and just download a template online for free. This company is a SCAM. Useless.

What a way to steal money "Professionally" I give a 5 stars on that...
I used this site to create a letter and I deleted my account right after. And no even a two weeks later I've been charged $35 because the automatic renewal... I don't recommend the site. I give a 1 star because there's not 0 star.
Suggestion: Life is one... live it honestly.

Dear Lilly,

Thank you for bringing this matter to us and we apologize for the misunderstanding. Just to clarify, Livecareer Resume builder offers an introductory subscription of $3.95 for 14 days, which has an auto-renewal feature and we make every effort to let you, our subscriber, know that unless you call, e-mail or live chat with a LiveCareer representative to cancel your subscription, it will renew for our low price of $34.95 a month. If you don’t want to use any of our customer service options that we’ve listed, we also have a cancellation feature right on our website. Deleting the account on site will delete your account details, but you still need to cancel to stop further charges.

Again, Lilly, we make every effort to let our subscribers know of this auto-renewing feature – we have it in print when you subscribe and we even e-mail you those details when we send your payment confirmation for the 14 day trial.

If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com

Best Regards,

I was just looking for a free template. After I worked for hours on a resume-I got to the page where you had to pay. After working that hard I went ahead and gave them my credit card information. Then found out there was a monthly fee. It took me hours more just to get the account closed. This is a scam. Don't fall for it

Dear Judy,

Thanks for your comments.

The free account is the ability to try out the Resume Builder to get a feel for how it works, and see what it has to offer before deciding to purchase. At this time we offer free text (. Txt) download of your resume, but if you want to print a resume to bring to an interview, email your resume/cover letter, or download a professional looking resume then you do need a subscription, which has recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we make cancellation really easy. We give you multiple ways to cancel your subscription; by calling our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; by live chat, by e-mail at customerservice@livecareer.com, or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section to avoid incurring this charge if service is no longer needed.

Best Regards,

Livecareer

Though I regret forgetting her latest name I was helped by Maria Teresa, something. She was very kind and patient, at one point I did get snappy but instead of snapping back she was patient with me and her customer service didn't faulted, we eventually we resolved my problem. You're fortunate to have her on your customer service team!

She helped me get updated and explained all the current features so that I can get this thing done in about an hour with all the template and bullet options at a rate that I can afford. Thanks again Natalie... liza :)

A few months ago I visited this site to write a resume, even if you don't use their services they keep billing you. Not a helpful website at all, more concerned with keeping the money they had charged me than to come to a resolution on the over charging. The amounts they were charging me changed as well. It was like they were charging me whatever they could get by with me not noticing. I am going to have to cancel my card and order a new one so they will stop charging me.

I found it generic, hard to build my resume with no options for someone with experience/history such as mine that doesn't fit into this current generic environment that employers supposedly use now for choosing/eliminating applicants for further review.

When you do a resume on their site you may think your making a one time purchase but you are not. You will be charged a $50 on your credit card at the end of each month until you realize you have to go back to the site account and cancel your subscription. In my case they ripped off a paraplegic gentleman who lost his job. They also go under the name of My perfect resume.

Basically, I paid a few dollars for a resume and they charged me close to $40, which over drew the account I used and cost me even more money. Really? I do appreciate the accessibility of the customer service, but I am still waiting on that refund that hasn't come yet.

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

Cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Once it’s cancelled, we send a cancellation confirmation email for your records. There are times that auto emails can get picked up as spam or junk mail. Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. You advertised free resume template and builder and I tried to read your entire site to ensure I would not get charged so I could find a different free service, but no fee was mentioned. I am happy to spend money for a service if I am fully informed at the beginning. Right now I will pay for the 14 day service and will move on. You should be more transparent about your services and fees.

Used live career one time (ages ago) to create an application and payed a small amount of money. To my surprise the company has been billing me a huge amount of money every single month without my permission and without me using their service at all! Shame on the company performance and policies!
Hope I can receive a refund of my money since I have not used their service. Any advice on how to apply for this would be much appreciated.

This company is a scam, the auto renewal is ridiculous, and you can not find the info on it on their website. There is no money back guarantee as stated. I would not recommend this to anyone, beware and do not sign up or give them your visa.

Do not use it!

Simply being straightforward, LiveCareer allows you to build a resume in a helpful, easy, and accessible format.

However LiveCareer charges 40 dollars monthly after you have printed out your resume. If you remember to cancel the subscription immediately, well then its worth it.

But if you happen to be like me, where you forget to cancel, well then you are essentially a money farm, as they will continually charge 40 dollars a month.

Did I agree to the terms and conditions? Yes I did. I didn't try to get my money back, I clicked Agree, I know what I am accountable for.

But if you happened to stumble upon this review, maybe think twice about using LiveCareer.

I created my resume and cover letter on LiveCareer. The site has examples and plenty of wonderful templates. When I was ready to cancel (just because I do not need the service anymore at this time though I may go back in the future) then I had great service! They cancelled it right away (but I get the rest of my subscription days still! And then they saved my resume and letter in case I return :) love this site! Definitely recommend

I believe this company makes most of its money on people who do not understand or who forget that they will be billed $40/month. By the time you figure it out, you are several hundreds of dollars in the hole. I would avoid this service unless you are someone who will pay attention and cancel the service after the first use.

If you see this site opening in front of you just run!

This is just a scam not only the template and the process is deceptive. Once you bill the resume there is a problem with getting it in right format to your PC but the most important part is you will be tricked to pay subscription fee. You think you agree to minimum period to try, but then they automatically renew your subscription before you figure out that you still being billed $45 dollars is GONE from your account.

This is not professional site scums even the reviews are fixed. There is no way anybody could have a good experience with this.

I did try to cancel subscription you think you can not without calling and the operators are just not friendly and rude they know they GOT YOU

They are overpriced at $39.80 per month. I canceled my account exactly 16 days after using their site. I understood this was a 30 day trial... like 99.99% of the web and they say I owe them. Of course that is how these rip-off sites make their money. Get it on the 1st pmt, then who cares if you use their service.

9/26/14:: Update Live Career did refund my money.$38 less the $2 fee. Awesome. Appreciate the refund. BUT don't put customers thru the ringer... not fair to my time to have to spend so much time and 4 emails to get refund. By the time you guys finished... your cost per account were almost as much as my refund. Be smart with your resources! Still wont recommend based on more hassle than help.

Tip for consumers:
Don't waste your $40!!! Instead of using this site to build a resume...look for templates and examples of people within your own profession.

Hi Traci O.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. The subscription that you purchased is a 14 day full access for $1.95 that auto-renews at $39.80 on the 15th day, billed every 4 weeks. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings if service is no longer needed.

I have refunded the full amount of $39.80. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. I have also sent you a confirmation email for your records.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. Dear Charlie,

Thanks for your comments.

We take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to. We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime. If the subscription has not been cancelled, a monthly rate will be billed for $39.80. Aside from these details, we also sent a payment confirmation to the e-mail address you’ve use when you signed up, stating the amount of what you have subscribed for and the date of the auto-renewal.

Charlie, we also make cancelling really easy as we give 4 ways to cancel a subscription if service is no longer be needed: By calling our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; by live chat, by e-mail at customerservice@livecareer.com, or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.

Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may resolve this issue.

I needed a resume quickly so I agreed to pay the $1.95 on my boyfriends credit card (with his permission). It's been 2 months and he is currently being charged $55 a month due to my lack of knowledge that this is a scam and I did not agree to pay for this monthly. I am currently trying to cancel my account. I have emailed many times but have yet to get a response. Now when I try to deactivate it myself, it tells me "You currently have an expiring subscription" and it will not let me deactivate. I plan to call and make it very clear that I will no longer pay for this terrible scam. If anyone can offer me advice in this area then I will gladly accept it.

We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

Deactivating an account means you will not be able to access any of your resumes, cover letters, or emails. This action cannot be undone. However, cancellation stops the auto-renewal.

Please contact me directly with the last 4 digits of the card that used to purchase and card holder’s name so that I can take a look at it personally and resolve this issue quickly for you. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Please Stay away from ever using this website... it's not worth the hussle after they charge you for no reason. I used their site once for a resume and cover letter and paid their $1.95 I think. Then before 14 days my account was charged $40 and the following month. Calling them about they charges, they did not even have my account. So how can you charge my account without me existing in any of your records!. That means I cancelled. Their customer service people are so arrogant when it comes to asking for a refund. They will say anything to make stupid excuses for you never to get yo money back... am sure there are better sites than this... please save yourselves the theft of this company. Its a total scam.
