Huge time saver for freshing my resume with really helpful suggestions. I had a little trouble renaming some headings at first, and didn't know what it would cost until the end. Besides that really positive.

I'd discourage everyone to use their services as you'll get charged automatically on a regular basis. No notification or information, very sneaky! I wasn't able to contact customerservice either. Poor customer experience overall.

Hello, Syed.

Our apologies for your negative impression of our company; please know that we completely understand your concerns. However, we do, in fact, state everything up-front for our users to be aware of the products and services that we offer.

To clarify, we offer two types of accounts, the first one being a basic access account that gives you the chance to try out our builder before deciding to purchase our premium features; this account allows you to download a plain text version which you can copy-paste the text on to our free resume templates located here:

https://livecareer.com/resume/templates

We also provide a full access account for a small fee that grants you 14-days to print, email, or download your documents using our copyrighted templates, but these features are NOT listed within the free account.

In addition, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee for our 14-day trial if you are not satisfied with our services.

Also, when you sign up for our 14-day trial, you’re automatically enrolled in our monthly subscription service, which we let you know at this stage that you may cancel any time. Also, when we request your credit card information, we clearly explain that unless you self-cancel or request a cancellation before the end of your trial, you authorize us to charge your credit card every four weeks at the regular subscription price.

As for the refund policy, we do not process any refunds on recurring charges, as stated on our Terms and Conditions page. Our policy is as follows; we offer a 100% money-back guarantee if you are unsatisfied with the end result during the first 14-days. Once those days are up, we do not process any refunds. For more information, please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.

We hope this information helps clear things up; that being said, you can always contact our designated Customer Service Team, which can help you with anything related to your account or our services.

Total scam. I was charged the one time fee of $1 something and then later took $35.80 out of my account. When I told them I wanted to cancel they refused to give this money back. Will never ever use this service again and warn everybody to not use them either. They will rip you off.

Hi Charlyn,

The subscription that you paid has a recurring billing feature and you can cancel at any time. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing, underneath the description of the subscription in bullet form, as well as in the confirmation email you receive once you subscribe.

We have refunded a full amount of $35.80. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. We have also sent you a confirmation email for your records.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously and hope that you will reconsider your star rating and negative review of our site and service. Please contact me again directly if you have any further issues.

Regards,

1) Found it very helpful in writing my CV
2) As far as clarity in what is free, trial period and charges this site turned out to be another scam. "Treating Customers Fairly" means clarity, ensuring that the customer has clear information with regards to services provided, charges and cancellation. This site does not do this and it's advertising is very misleading (false advertising). I have been charged continuously for 5 moths in a row. When there have not been any funds in my account they have gone as far as repeatedly charging my account on different days untill they managed to take their "monthly subscription"
3)Subsequently cancelled this so called subscription however was unable to delete my details as it keeps saying my subscription will expire on 09/16. Having to consequently cancel my card as i have no confidence at all with when/if this will be actioned

Hi Ron R.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We take pride in providing effective and valuable career, resume and cover letter assistance to hundreds of thousands of people. All of our subscriptions are auto-renewing if not cancelled. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal upon purchase. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings if service is no longer needed.

Our record shows that you were only charged trice for $39.80. The rest were failed transactions. I issued 3 full refunds in the amount of $119.40 as a courtesy credit. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. I have also sent you a confirmation email for your records.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and customer satisfaction, and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. Same as many before me: Site showed an offer for $1.95, but was billed $40.20 instead. Paypal receipts show the original advertised amounts, but that wasn't what was actually charged to Paypal. Disputing now, since contacting this company seems impossible.

Greetings Normal U, I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

Cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Once it’s cancelled, we send a cancellation confirmation email for your records. There are times that auto emails can get picked up as spam or junk mail. Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. It has always been good. I like the opportunity to have my resume looked and critiqued professionally.
The templates and lay-outs really give you a variety of looks for any job situations.

Reason I chose this business:

At the time when I looked at site years ago, it offered exactly what i was looking for.

I would strongly recommend that everyone avoid this site. What a scam! As mentioned numerous times, they lure you in with the "free" resume builder. You fill it out and then at the end are advised there is a $1.95 charge to download it! How is tha free? Clearly the site was designed that way purposefully. They assume that most people (at that point) will simply pay the $1.95 rather than have wasted their time and effort. Then they gouge you $39.95 a month FOR NOTHIING until you notice the charges! They claim that their "WELCOME SUCKER" email advises you of these ongoing charges (even if you never access the site again). That is an outright lie. Nowhere does it mention these charges, though it does use the word "FREE" a couple of times. I hope these scammers get shut down. How does anyone with a conscience even work for them? Too bad there is not a negative star rating system, I would give them a -5 stars. Crooks!

Tip for consumers:
Avoid like plague

I joined for what i thought was $1.99, printed four resumes, and, later, found a charge for $39.80 on my credit card! There is a two week trial period, then an automatic monthly charge as membership! I called to cancel and the customer service rep was extremely rude, not to mention, not a single penny was refunded! $39.80 for 4 resumes! Total scam

I recently had the great pleasure of working with Lolyn. Who not only solved my billing issue with speed and accuracy, but did so in a professional and polite manner. I went from being irate to being as calm as a baby sea lion. I wish more people in this world had the professional mindset that Lolyn does. Her attention to detail and professionalism reflect's very highly on your company. I would recommend promoting her to Regional district metro area supreme high supervisor! Love you Lolyn...!

I have just realised that I too have been scammed by this despicable company. One of my kids must have used them in January and paid with my card. I see the original transactions for £1.95 and 95 pence, followed by a regular £22.95 deduction every month since. I don't check my entire bank statement regularly which is how this deception has been overlooked. However, I shall be on the case with much alacrity and venom, first thing in the morning. Judging by all the reviews I have since read, they should be closed down or at the very least, investigated... might contact one of the television programmes who indulge in this type of investigation. Rip Off Britain might well be interested!

Total rip-offs there are lots of free good ways to do cvs please look around do not use these they just scam u. Note when i spoke with them was no offer of refund even though they know the account has not been used since that first day, if they really cared and see u not using it any legit company would refund.

My daughter signed up for a one-time trial two years ago, not realizing that she was signing up for a subscription. She logged back in this month to see if her data was still there -- and we were charged $19.95. Our credit card's fraud department flagged it. We're disputing the charge. Live Career said it would not grant a refund because "the charge has gone through." Look elsewhere if you want to write a resume -- LiveCareer is scamming you.

These are nothing but filthy scam artists.

I signed up for a free trial. I found their site was broken: The online tool was fine, but the exporter was buggy and broken, so I cancelled. This is good evidence, in retrospect, that they are scam artists, because I have coded by own format converters. It is not nearly the most difficult thing you could program.

Two weeks later they charged over $40 to my account.

These are the filthiest kinds of criminals and I can assure you that if this isn't resolved soon, there will be a lawsuit. I have already contacted a lawyer. I've never been scammed like this and I want to make sure these criminals get what they deserve.

Tip for consumers:
These scam artists will keep making charges to your credit card indefinitely. If they have your number, call your credit card company immediately to see what your options are.

I had a great experience on this site. The software was very helpful in guiding me to create an appealing resume and the phone customer service was super easy. I will use it again and recommend to others.
Suggestions: The Live Chat was not useful --waited 5 minutes but no one ever showed up. It would be nice to have a tab function within the the resume sections. I wanted to line up some things down several lines of test and had to do it by pushing the space bar. Which wasn't very effective because the spacing is different while working in the program than when it actually prints up.

I initially signed up for a one month trial and for some reason my membership was holding on for a year.
I realized that this it was my fault not checking my credit card billing thoroughly enough, so I said to myself:
Ok, wasting this GPD 255 was stupid, so at least get an invoice to deduct your taxes...

But this is not possible with Livecareer. After 8 mails back and forth they told me:

"If you wish to have an invoice of the transactions that were made you will need to contact your bank. Unfortunately we do not make invoices, we truly apologize for the inconvenience."

Overall experience:
The generated CV was nice, but regarding the monthly subscription model, billing and invoicing it rounds up as:
A scam company sitting on Bermuda and not issuing any invoices - and most probably doesn't pay any taxes.

This company is the biggest rip off I'm like a lot of people ripped off, I spent all morning on this supposedly free CV writer to find at the end it cost £1.95 which I was not happy about but thought ah well I'll pay it now I've put all this time in it. Then I was charged 22.95 this month when I went on chat I got a sharp answer telling me I hadn't read the subscription correctly. Hopefully its been cancelled. Watch out everybody

We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing, underneath the description of the subscription in bullet form. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings! Hi,

I used your website to write up my resume which I was quite happy with and cancelled my membership afterwards. I was then surprised to see that 2 weeks later, you had charged my credit card approximately $33.

Upon emailing you, I did not get a reply and to be honest am getting quite annoyed and exasperated as I thought I had cancelled this subscription and yet when I question this, no one replied.

Not happy.

Live Career resume builder is the biggest "legal" or so they say, scam out there! They took $444 over the past year out of my credit card and food out of my children's mouths. I signed up for a $2.95 service and have now paid $444 for absolutely NOTHING. This is highway robbery. What a joke. They said they would refund me $34, wow! Isn't that nice of them. It's like a robber stealing your purse and telling you he'd give you back your lipstick.! I will DEFINATLY be reporting this joke of a company to the better business bureau! I would suggest any of you others who've had the same thing happen do the same. Companies like this should be taken down.

I used the resume builder and thought the end product looked good. However, I found I could not export the resume into PDF without losing the formatting. Bummer. Hours wasted. I had to just rebuild the document using word processing software.

Also, when I went to use the job search feature, the only results within a 300 mile radius were entry level positions. I am 15 year into my career and could not find any positions on the site that met my needs. However, I was able to find appropriate listings on other sites.

I'd say this site is ok if you are looking for your 1st or 2nd real job. This is not for experienced professionals.

I'm usually a stickler for reviewing terms and conditions before I sign up for something and do not remember seeing anything about the hidden fees, but maybe the panic I was in from losing my resume caused me to be careless. After being charged $65 for failing to cancel my subscription, I called customer service and was ridiculed for being stupid enough to sign up for something without reading the fine print. Literally, the rep scolded me like I was a child. I certainly learned my lesson, but any "business" that aims to make their money hoping people don't read the fine print does not deserve your patronage and should be shut down. No wonder they aren't accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Do not use this company.

Hi Ash,
We’re sorry that you may have gotten the wrong impression of our service and subscription resume builder service. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume and cover letter builder before deciding to purchase. Our website clearly and conspicuously states our terms on various pages in the purchase process. For example, when the consumer is given a choice between our different products, the terms of the subscription are in bullet points next to their selection, and again on the payment page. Consumers receive an email confirming their subscriptions as soon as they complete their purchase. The confirmation email states: "Your subscription begins immediately and renews automatically" followed by the corresponding date and purchase price. If you have any additional concerns regarding your account, please feel free to contact us at Social@LiveCareer.com so we can provide with further assistance.
Thank you!
