It's not until you are completely done building the resume with the "Free" resource that you get the notice that if you want to download the resume to anything but a text format you have to pay! Well if you want it professional looking you're stuck! Be sure you cancel your subscription immediately or you will get charged and there is no option to give you a refund. It's apparent this is a problem because the customer service rep had a well rehearsed/well read statement in response to my complaint. A little more information about the potential costs prior to using the source to build a resume would be a more honest business practice. This charge at the end felt sneaky! Very Frustrating! Also, when you download into the word version, it doesn't transfer the formatting perfectly and if you want to make a change, it's nearly impossible to make it work. What a mess! So I pay a fee that I wasn't expecting and then the product I receive is "broken" Nice job Live Career!

Hi Darcy B.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our site and service. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free.

We also explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal to keep our customers informed.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing and Product team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Best regards,

Called customer care today and asked them that I did not authorized the charges, i was charged $2.99 for 14 days but never said anything that they will charged their my account after. I will dispute the charges and will make sure to tell everyone not to use their service. Such a scam! I will report this to BBB and other agency... people be aware and read the fine lines! So sick!

We also give you multiple ways to cancel your subscription by phone, chat, e-mail or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.

Do not, I repeat, do not give this website your credit card number! As most of the other reviewers on this site, I was scammed! And since I'm Canadian, it ended up being $52.00! It's nice to know that this site likes to take advantage of unemployed people!

If only I had read the reviews of livecareer.com prior to using it. As others have experienced, I was advised that I could utilize the resume format for 14 days for $1.95. I did not notice the statement that if using a debit card an international fee would be charged. The format was ok, but accessing the program to make edits was difficult. Two weeks later my debit card was charged $39.80 and $1.19 international fee for what the representative says is a subscription I authorized. I did not agree to any continuation but she insisted that the site indicates that unless otherwise cancelled your use is considered a subscription. DO NOT USE THIS SITE.

As an international company, LiveCareer processes payments through LiveCareer UK, Ltd. with its offices in London, England. Some banks charge an international transaction fee, even when the charge is in US dollars. These fees are charged by your bank and not LiveCareer.

I just signed up an account and used it during the trial period then forgot it. Then I found it automatically charged me $40 without noticing me anything. I contacted the customer services but they refused to refund me because "Requested refund after billing date". WTF! How can I know I was charged before the billing date? I feel it's a fraudulent company just profiting from careless users like me!

They have different templates available, but after you download, it loses its original formatting if you want to make any changes. Therefore, it is NOT user-friendly and requires a LOT of time spent trying to get edits to appear in original format.

If your having issues online finding the right site to make your resume LOOK NO MORE!
I was getting so fed up with creating resumes than when you went back to change something the site would freeze, or you would lose your hard work... this site is so worth the 1.97 that's it... can you imagine if your not worth that much to get the job you always wanted?
I'd rate this site higher than the 5 stars... it was so easy so professional looking and they cancelled my membership on request when I didn't need it any more!
THE BEST RESUME SITE. BY FAR!

This site was very easy to navigate. I created a beautiful resume and when I gave it to my current employer they even remarked how professional it was. It was easy to make changes and amendments, as I would finish one section and then realize I wanted to add something to a different section. I would highly recommend this site to anyone looking to update or create a resume.

Live Career created a site called My Perfect Resume so they can scam people into a subscription from 2 websites. They will tell you they are charging a minimal fee and then will bill you monthly until you discover it and report them. Terrible scam; they know exactly what they are doing!

It looks like you can build resume for free, the after you spend lots of time on it, it says you have to pay. I got 3$ trial and then will just cancel, but it should say right up front that you are going to have to pay to get your resume.

Creating my resume was very fast and efficient, I enjoyed the multiple choice for the job categories and experiences I was provided with do to English not being my first language and it is harder for me to type or write proper information. I recommend this to everyone for a great resume.

I attempted the use of the service Resume now. I was not pleased with the services due to dates being scrambled on my resume, etc. I cancelled my service but money was still deducted from my account. The live chat representative was very kind in assisting me and very direct. I appreciated this approach as to asking specifically what I wanted. Obviously, I wanted my money returned. They took care of it immediately. I am very pleased with this type of service.

Like many others before me, I was charged $34 for no good reason. If the company is so transparent and upfront as they claim, why so many disgruntled customers?
I should have googled LIVECAREER* before doing anything with them; I would have never given them a chance to cheat me out of my money. I wan't the charges reversed!

Misleading website with the cost... Im sure it actually said nothing about the 7 day free trial even costing anything, the reason being is I laughed at the choices because you would only need it once possibly a day... Then BAM after 2 hours of filling the fukn form out $4.95 to use what I just spent valuable time doing... CRIMINALS, there are laws in aus that prosecute misleading advertising... By the way I have alot of friends in india... In this game your playing...

COMPLETE SCAM! Just got a call from AMEX about fraudulent activity on our account. Sure enough it was a $34.95 charge from livecareer.com that I never agreed to or knew about when I purchased the right to print a supposed free resume on their site a week ago. I should have known. Please beware and stay away! Luckily AMEX will not pay it and I deactivated the resume account so hopefully we are rid of them for good.

Paid 1.95 to print out my resume, did not sign up for a subscription. 5 months later notice they have taken over 200 dollars in recurring charges. Company is based out of San Francisco and preys on its bait and switch tactics. I feel robbed and angry. To their customer service, please don't comment on this review with your fake sincerity regarding your practices, if you cared their would not be nearly 600 one star reviews regarding your site. The CEO of this company is James Freundlich from New York, he has made millions from us suckers. This company actually has a manual for dealing with customers who feel they have been scammed. Do a search, you will find it.

Tip for consumers:
James Freundlich is the thief who stole your money.

We called to cancel an account that was cancelled 9 months ago with a documented email and they did not refund the money. I am opening a dispute with my credit card company.

2 days later: updated to 2 stars from 1 star.
After my credit card company contacted them I was able to get all my money back. They sent me an email stating that they were wrong and the account should have been canceled based on my email.

Although I have a lot of experience in my field of Education, I was not sure how to produce a good resume that could capture the attention of prospective employers. I was in the process of changing employer. The last time I wrote a resume was 8 years ago. I decide to sign up with LiveCareer. On LiveCareer, I received so many helpful hints on how to prepare an outstanding resume and cover letter. I downloaded the cover letter and resume to my computer and tweaked them before sending them out. Within two weeks, I was interviewed, and given a position with a company. I decide at that point to cancel my membership with LiveCareer, since I was no longer going to use it. The cancellation process was hassle free, and the young lady who processed it was very courteous, organized, and professional.

I would greatly recommend LiveCareer to anyone who wants help in producing great resume and cover letter.

Like many other people, I signed up with LiveCareer in order to easily make a resume. I paid for the 14-day trial, but forgot to cancel my subscription after that, as being a college student can be rather distracting. Two months later, I discover the two 40 dollar payments on my checking account. Naturally, this was rather distressing, so I contacted customer support. Thankfully, they have stated that they will be reimbursing me in full for both months of payments. If the transactions aren't posted within the expected time, I will definitely be making contact with them again.

Decent service, with some rather tricky billing guidelines. Also rather expensive. If you can afford it, it's not a bad service. But if you are currently job-hunting, or are low on funds, I would recommend just creating a resume on your own.

They said my subscription had been cancelled but charges kept posting to my credit card. The customer service representative was a defensive jerk and of no help. They refused to refund my credit card charges after the date the subscription expired. Finally after multiple trips to talk to their supervisor and further investigation they agreed to the refund.
