LiveCareer has a rating of 4.2 stars from 8,739 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with LiveCareer most frequently mention customer service, cover letter, and great experience. LiveCareer ranks 3rd among Career Advice sites.
This company responds to reviews on average within 13 days
They are THIEVES. They put a fine print SCAM where they put in big letters "14 DAY TRIAL, $1.95" and then in fine print put "by paying for this trial you are allowing us to auto-renew you into $35 a month". OBVIOUSLY, their entire intention is to SCAM you. Who needs a subscription to a resume website? How often do you make a resume? SCAM. Sad, pathetic company that has to scam people out of money.
Date of experience: January 19, 2014
Like other reviewers I was lured in with the promise of a "FREE" resume, then found out you must purchase access to be able to print or email it for $1.95. No problem, it seemed like a good deal... until it automatically bills you $40 per month without your knowledge! After 6 months of not knowing I finally figured out what was happening... asked for a refund and was able to only get the most recent month's charge back. Terrible business practice! I did not get the value for my $200 USD that paid them for sure!
Update: A company that is truly "committed to providing great customer service" would not allow so many of its customers to feel as if they were stolen from. Instead, a company "committed to providing great customer service" would be happy to provide a product/service for fair value. I would be happy to pay for a great resume builder. There is no need to lure people in and employ sneaky billing practices. I did not receive fair value for the amount I paid, period, and the attitude of the company is uncaring. Livecareer, I hope you enjoyed the $200 you got out of me. Apparently 18,981 people have viewed this review so far, so I think that the amount of money that you have probably lost from all of those who will now not use your services will far exceed the quick cash you made from me. I hope you choose to seriously evaluate your business model in the future and actually choose to provide that great customer service you speak of someday.

Hi TC.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. The free account gives you the ability to try out the Resume Builder to get a feel for how it works, and see what it has to offer before deciding to purchase. There is no cost to TRY it out. At this time we do offer free text (. Txt) download of your resume. But if you would like a professionally formatted version you need to subscribe.
We also explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
The refund was given as courtesy credit.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com
Bet regards,

THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. THEY ONLY ADVISE YOU OF THE 14 DAY TRIAL THEN CHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT $39 AND THEN THEY CHARGED ME ANOTHER FEE WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I TRIED CHATTING WITH A REP AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP AND RUDE. PROBABLY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T USE IT, ITS NOT EVEN WORTH IT.

Well I actually signed up for a career test.
The email that I received from this site went straight into my junk folder.
Strike one. I never set up the filter for spam in this account so apparently hotmail decided that this site sends out spam.
Continuing with the process, it started asking about my education level.
Strike two. That information is on my resume so any business that gets my resume can have it. A job search site doesn't need it. I know, they need it to match you to jobs you're qualified for. Right. If I want to apply for a job as a CEO, I should be able to do that and I don't need a career site to tell me I can't.
Then comes the address, city, which it already picked out because it has my zip code, and phone number.
Strike three. Job sites that you register for on the internet, DON'T need your phone number, especially if they want to know your education level. Once again, that can be given to the prospective employer IF your resume gets that far.
And NEVER, NEVER, EVER give out your social security #. This site never asked for it so bear that in mind. This point I am making as you should never put that down on an job application, UNLESS you have interviewed and it is the only thing stopping you from getting hired. It is possible that your job app can be laying around and someone might find your information and use it. Next thing you know 27 credit cards and a mortgage have been taken out in your name.
It is also fair to note I did not take the career test. I didn't feel that livecareer.com needed my personal information for me to be able to take the test.
Have a nice day... :)

BEWARE! I've asked them to cancel my account and was still charged this month. I haven't gotten anything resolved. I've called and been on hold for so long that I've had to hang up.
Tip for consumers:
Just don't sign up. It's not worth the hassle. 34.95 a month plus tax is a lot of money to be charged every month for nothing. I'm still waiting to get my problem resolved.

They robbed me out of $70.00. And when I asked for a refund to a website I used once, the awful, incompetent computer representative signed off.
This website should shut down; they are thieves!

You can't edit where the pages separate or change the font size. My resume on the "Executive" template looks broken up in the wrong places with no 1" header or footer. It's too crowded.
Date of experience: November 15, 2021
Thank you, Susan, we’re always open to new suggestions on ways we can improve and your feedback helps us do just that!
You are at the top of the search bar for "FREE RESUMES".
After completing the whole thing to find I have to pay 3 dollars is not what I was looking for. Thanks for making me waste an hour of typing to pay $3 to not have to do it all over again

Hello, Elizabeth
We’d like to clarify that our Basic Access accounts allow you to create and download a plain text version of your resume and cover letter using our examples and tips.
However, if you would like to download, print, or email a professionally formatted version of your resume using our copyrighted templates in a PDF or Word format you will need to subscribe first for a small fee which we offer a 14-day trial option. In addition, we do grant a 100% money-back guarantee for our trial fee.
Didn't like how the service gives you no notice for when they will draft your acct, now I have an overdraft from my bank, after I cancelled thanks live career...
Tip for consumers:
Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used this site before and it was an awesome way to make a resume. Though I wanted to print out a resume months later and I was going to pay the $5 fee for another week, I was charged $34.50! SERIOUSLY? FOR ONE WEEK I PAID $35. These people are snakey and liars! DO NOT USE THEM! I cant not even begin to explain how furious I am. I cant stress enough how horrible and rude their customer service team is.
Date of experience: June 19, 2012
Dear Catelyn S,
Hi, work at LiveCareer. We apologize for the misunderstanding. The $ 4.95 is a one time trial price. It will no longer be available for returning user, but what we offer is $ 34.95 for a whole month and not just 1 week, which allows you not only to print, email and download, but you can also have the ability to post your resume to 90 job boards, which gives you better chances of landing a job.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com. We also list our contact information on our "Contact Us" and "About Us" Pages on our site.

There is even a self-cancellation feature under “My Account” on our website if service is no longer needed.
