Hi Dana S.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

If we issue a prorated refund, it was processed as a courtesy credit. However, I would like to check your account personally. Please contact me directly with the email address you used to create your account so we can resolve this issue quickly for you. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Anna

It has always been good. I like the opportunity to have my resume looked and critiqued professionally.
The templates and lay-outs really give you a variety of looks for any job situations.

Reason I chose this business:

At the time when I looked at site years ago, it offered exactly what i was looking for.

Great site for helping me build my first resume. A couple of UI problems and I wasn't expecting to have to pay in order to download, but the price is reasonable.

BEWARE of this site! Terrible business practice! This site comes up under "FREE RESUME TEMPLATES" and then after you work hard and create a resume, they require a nominal ($1.95) fee which seems fair... but they don't make it clear that there will be an ongoing $34.95 MONTHY charge! By the time I noticed this recurring charge, I spent over A HUNDRED DOLLARS for my resume.
As many people have commented, it is a misleading website- I am sure this billing practice is part of their business model. I feel like I've been TRICKED. And to top it off, they do their banking in Cyprus.

LiveCareer's resume-builder is great, and the work saved makes it worth the $1.95. I feel they communicate the recurring charge well enough that you have only yourself to blame if you're surprised by it.

Where they slip up, however, is making cancellation easy. How on EARTH do you cancel it? For months, I'd been sending emails to the only customer service email I could find on the site... to no avail, while they're charging my card almost $30 per month.

BUT I was pleasantly surprised today to receive quick, easy, pleasant, and totally satisfactory customer service from representative David Bermudez today on the LiveChat. Without a hitch, I was able to both cancel my account and get a full refund all the way back to when I'd originally sent my first cancellation email. It was so quick that I was astonished - high-quality customer service like that is rare.

I also love how they don't just throw away your resumes & cover letters when you cancel the subscription. How not-spiteful and non-manipulative of them (which can also be rare).

Tip for consumers:
If you're ready to cancel or looking for a refund, use the LiveChat feature, NOT email.

Awesome! For every 100 all hype bull!@#$ websites there is 1 gem like this. I paid $1.95 for the trial period access (7 or 10 days I think). In less than an hour I had turned my resume from boring and forgettable to classy and attention demanding! I went to a job fair and had 8 companies actively trying to hire me. I took the one that made the most sense for me and completely forgot to cancel my "trial" subscription. Oops. I ended up paying 2 payments of $40.20 by the time I figured out what the bill was on my statement. Clicked on the online chat to cancel and it was fast and easy. I got an email confirmation of cancelling before the online chat came through that Julie had cancelled my account. The actual product is great. Resume building is such a pain and nobody wants to do it. I know people that don't try to get jobs they want because they procrastinate on updating and making their resume current and attractive to employers. Even if you forget about it and pay an extra $80 bucks it's still worth it.

Hi,
2 weeks ago when spending time with a friend we discovered your website.

1. It was an easy to use website and between us my friend and I produced a wonderful CV to help her return to the job market in her late 40's after 27 years looking after her disabled sister.
2. The CV has given her confidence a tremendous boost.

Drawbacks

Lack of clarity that we would have to pay for this service. We got to printing it out and there was a request for payment details and my friend had not brought these with her so I paid it for her, planning to cancel after a few days once Paula had decided whether she wanted to make any changes.

Paula did not want to make any revisions so I intended to cancel the monthly standing order and forgot about it until today.

May increase your customer base if you send an email reminder after 10 or 12 days informing that the 2 weeks is nearly up and explaining what the benefits are on offer if the customer continues their monthly payments.

AS it happened when I rang today I was refunded the £16.99 that apparently went out of my account yesterday Aug 30th. I am very thankful and will heartily recommend your company. Thank you

They are scammers and thieves! I AM LIVID! They will NOT continue to get away with stealing from people!

STAY AWAY from this website. I used the site to make a resume and after paying 35.99 for a subscription so I could download the resume, it didn't look anything like what I had made in any of the downloadable formats. Of course I requested a refund immediately and they denied it. I didn't even take anything from this website and they will not honour a refund. Bunch of scum. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

Greetings Emily, We're very sorry that you feel that way. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

Cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Once it’s canceled, we send a cancellation confirmation email for your records. There are times that auto emails can get picked up as spam or junk mail. Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder. Your obligation to pay fees continues through the end of the subscription period because the cancellation will avoid the auto renewal but you will still have access to the end of the billing cycle and that is stated in the terms and conditions #35. (https://www.livecareer.com/terms-of-use)

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. THEY WILL TAKE MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.

The service is very helpful and I appreciated the resume formats etc, BUT they are very sneaky. They charge an initial $1.95 to your account and then after the 14 day trial period they will "renew" your subscription "hassle-free" for $34.95 UNLESS you cancel your subscription within those 14 days

When I saw the charge on my credit card I called them immediately and complained. Two of their suctomer service representatives hung up on me until the third one put in a Refund Request for me. I'm still waiting to hear back...

Total scam

Dear Kelly,

Thanks for your comments.

Kelly, we take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to. We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime and if you don’t cancel your subscription, we will bill you at the monthly rate of $ 34.95. We state that on our subscription sales page right before you enter your card information and again send you those details on the payment confirmation email. Multiple ways to cancel was also being given: by phone, via email, chat and through “Account Settings” online.

We apologize for the inconvenience if you were being disconnected twice, there might be technical issues. With the refund request, it normally takes 2 to 3 business days for it to be posted back on your account. You can follow it up by calling our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site.
