This company responds to reviews on average within 13 days
Same thing as the others. You sign up for the $1.95 and they charge you $40 a month. I also noticed on their live chat I didn't mention the reason why I was cancelling but they had an automated response that they DID in fact tell you in the fine print that they would be charging you monthly. That points to the fact that this company lives off the couple of charges they get from customers before that customer notices and cancels. Horrible business practice that should be illegal

Wrote them an email saying that I want to cancel my subscription and refund nearly £100, replied with we can't find your email on our system, gave them my details, suprise suprise no reply. That was 3 days ago, sent another email still no reply. The only everyone seems to get a reply is by posting a review here! Word of advice to anyone who is considering using them, don't touch them!

Andrea work number 9332 was so helpful with a need of a quick refund due to my own mistake! He took the time to listen to my reason and understood my problem! I will for sure use this service again in the future because of him. Like dealing with real people and not machines or people that are just as bad as machines! He is a wonderful team member for Live Career!

I just want to thank LiveCareer with a big thumbs up from me. Not only was the site easy to use and to navigate I was able to completely change my resume in no time at all. Being unemployed at the time I felt it was very important to change my resumes' look and feel and this site made that very easily done.
I have since gotten many hits on my new resume, including interviews and several job offers. The Q&A Interview section on the site really helped me to prepare for questions and best practices during my interviews. Again thank you LiveCareer I will definitely be recommending your services to other friends and colleagues.

I am so tired of people and their hidden fees, just make it known to consumers up front without any hidden clauses, fees, etc. Just a waist of time. You can see that you don't even get a sum or total until the very end of building your resume.

Hi S R.,
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with us left you wanting more. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns regarding our service.
Thank you.
SCAM! I am very good about reading the fine print or so I thought and looked at credit card and had 4 months of charges for $34.95. I called them and they then did cancel it, but would not give me back the money from the charges because i didn't' not cancel it! If it says so much for 14 days then that is all you should be charged! Bunch of CRAP!

Dear Karla,
Thanks for your comments.
We take great care in letting our customers know what they are subscribing to. We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel. It is stated in bold and clear print under the details of the subscription options in bullet form. Aside from these details, we also send a payment confirmation to the e-mail address that you’ve used to sign up, stating the amount of what you have subscribed for and the date of the auto-renewal.
Karla, we make cancelling really easy as we give 4 ways to cancel a subscription if service is no longer be needed: By calling our customer service number at 1-888-816-0576, 17 hours a day, 7 days a week; by live chat, by e-mail at customerservice@livecareer.com, or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription feel free to contact us again.
Best regards,
LiveCareer
I wish there was an option for less than 1 star for this company.
When you sign up, they tell you it's a monthly fee of $19.95 which I was ok with as I am actually in need of constant resume updating for both my boyfriend and I. What they don't tell you is that even if you choose to not get the extra Resume Review product, an additional $19.95 charge, that they still charge you for it. I called and emailed in, as well used their online chat option, and still was not able to get this unauthorized, fraudulent charge refunded. I kept getting told a "Professional Services" department would call or email me within 24-48 hours and still have yet to hear from them. They then cancelled my subscription as a "courtesy" when I actually wanted to keep it. It's incredible that they are able to keep customers when they literally steal your money for services you specifically request to not have and then refuse to contact you back.

We’re sorry that you had this experience, Leann. We take all feedback very seriously and we’re more than willing to assist you with your situation. Please contact us at Social@LiveCareer.com. With your reply, we would appreciate it if you could include the email address you used to create your account with us or the account ID so we can locate your information. Thank you!
Live Career gets you to build a resume on their site then at the point of finalisation advise a payment of $2-95 is needed to download the resume with a monthly subscription of around $35. When you ask them they say its ok we will cancel your subscription so you will only pay the small fee once. Thats all good but then when you download the document it is that formatted you need to be a genius to make any amendments outside their system. They say just use our system to make changes but when you do it never comes out how you expect, then they advised me that they would fix it within 15 minutes, that was about an hour ago and now guess what, the live chat has shut down. What a scam.
Date of experience: September 4, 2013
Hello Leon,
We apologize if you experienced errors in formatting. We are aware of the issue we had while you were chatting with our representative and if your resume still is not formatted to your satisfaction, please call us at our customer service department at 1-888-816-0576 where we are open 18 hours a day, 7 days a week and one of our representatives can help you retrieve a clean version of your resume. You can also reach us by e-mail at customerservice@livecareer.com.
Thank you so much for writing.
The GUI version in the resume editor does not fully represent the actual layout in terms of spacing and line breaks. It takes quite a bit of tweaking to make it look good in a PDF. Also, I do not like that I am forced to always put month and year when year would suffice. But those are things I can fix in an intermediate step. Overall, I am happy with this site. :)

We’ve taken note of your feedback and it’s much appreciated, Rolf. We’re constantly looking for ways to provide the best experience for our customers and comments like yours help us do just that.
I used the service just to produce a CV for my 16 year old daughter and paid the one off fee. Only to discover a monthly payment to be taken out which I did not see coming and can not see an e-mail confirming this.
Be careful when using them. They are apparently transparent and clear in the pricing - I do no think so...

Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume and cover letter builder before deciding to purchase. We also send a payment confirmation e-mail stating the date and amount of the auto-renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including via phone, live chat, e-mail and self-cancellation in your Account Settings. If you have any additional concerns regarding your account, please feel free to contact us so we can provide with further assistance.
Thank you!
Excellent format moving through each step of setting up the resume with ease. Really appreciated the starred 'professional recommendations' in each section where I had the option to write whatever. Awesome program.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and rating us five stars!
I signed up for the two week free trial period. I used it to my advantage, creating resumes and cover letters and downloading all of them to my computer. It's a great service. They give you "power" phrases and words to go with the appropriate experience on your resume. I also love the layouts and the ways you can modify them.
I was also sent email notifications updating me on job searches that I didn't even know was available through LiveCareer. I only signed up for the site to use the resume builder, not for job searches, but it's an extra tool that someone could find useful. In the end, I found a job, so I guess LiveCareer served its purpose. Cancellation was easy, it just took a phone call, and my experience overall was A-Okay!

Hi Dave:
Congratulations! We are so glad to hear that you were able to find a job. Thank you for this wonderful review and we wish you the best of luck in your new job!

I just used the free trial once but I could see that they have a very good service that can help you to build resumes with a easy interface and helpful content suggestions. My problem was only that I was looking for a resume builder for a assignment in college. I picked the 14 days free trial, however after those 14 days they started automatically taking money from my banking account for 6 months, I just noticed it now. The problem was they didn't send any email warning me that they would start the monthly service of $ 39.80. They were good to refund 3 payments only.

I just finished relocating and haven't updated my resume in 8 year. The workplace has changed since I've needed to submit a resume. I was happy to have the help of L. C. It was easy and fill in form no need to start from scratch and deal with all the formatting. So many choices with current terminology. Thanks Live career

This is a good service however the only gripe I have is that it said at the beginning it was free but when I created my lovely cover letter it would not let me send it without paying the small fee. All in all some people are willing and able to pay the membership fees but I am not at this time however for those who can I think they will like the resumes and cover letters that they can create. Also the live customer service is great for any problems one may experience.

Since I'm based out of US, and this company primarily deal with customers of US, hence this service was of no use to me. Hence I contacted them through the live chat. Patric did an excellent job and really helped me out! Seeing my situation, he even initiated a full 100% refund. Nice job sir, kudos to you and your team!
Tip for consumers:

Thank you so much for your awesome feedback!
I gave them my credit card information, just so i can print off my resume after using their "free" resume builder. Turns out i had to pay them a small fee of $1.99 which i did. I checked my credit card statement and they have deducted just over $250. I tried to email them, no reply. Just an automated email saying they will get back to me within 48 hours. Its been 2 weeks now. I am lost. I don't recommend this site. I don't have a job and I cannot afford much this christmas.
Tip for consumers:
Don't give them your credit card information

I wanted a 14 day trial, paid about $7 to write a cover letter back in September 2014.
I noticed on my march 2015 credit card bill, a charge of $39.80 RENEWAL. I never set up any automatic payments of any kind, period!
I called, they would only give me $19.90 refund. But then I noticed on my April bill another $39.80 By the time I seen the first charge, they had already charged my card with another monthly bill.
What an expensive cover letter! Never Again.

LiveCareer.com word-for-word has my resume advertised on their website. I never authorized them to do so and they never informed me it would posted - I flatly would have declined. It's intrusive and unsettling seeing it up there. Very deceptive practices. I've asked them to take it down. I was told it would be taken down in 5 days. Friday made the 5th day. If it isn't taken down next week I'll be reporting them to everyone I can think of.

Hi Onorina,
Thank you so much for this review. We are glad that you were pleased with our Customer Service team and how Christopher was able to clarify your doubts. We are committed to providing great customer service. Thanks for the feedback, it's very important for us.
Ms "*******@livecareer.com", listen to this, as this is just a follow-up from my first review. Quite despicable to know that after reviewing more than a dozen of complaints, your company has not been able to curb the pattern to trick your unsuspecting customers. Why did you not redesign the online auto-renewal system so that your clients will not be trapped again to the the same, sorry to say this, scam? Wake up people!
My remaining effort now is to retrieve the money you took from my account. Period!
Date of experience: September 17, 2015
Hi Jerry T.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our site and did not have the best customer service experience. The details of our subscription are listed on our sales page, and we also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
It's a matter of policy for not providing the last name, mostly just like other companies who follow corporate rules. However, we are allowed to give out the first name and employee ID for reference. LiveCareer is a Resume Builder site, and an online transaction. For customers who are interested with the service to print, email and download the resume or cover letter created on site, those information are required to process a payment. However, if customers just want to create a free account we only need the email address and account holder’s name.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing and Customer Service team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

The software that they use to walk you through the cover letter building process is very nicely done. Unfortunately, they lead you to believe that the service is initially free until you have spent all the time building your document. Once it is finished you realized that you are locked out of actually using it unless you sign up for a recurring payment of $40 per month, which they sneakily phrase as $10 per week. That idea that someone would pay $40 per month to store a resume or cover letter is just absurd with so many actually free alternatives. It's a shame to see an admittedly good product ruined by shading business practices.

Dear Eric,
Thanks for your comments and we appreciate your feedback.
On our site our free account gives you the ability to try out our product to create resumes and cover letters, and to explore our templates, designs and text tuner samples. If you want to print a resume to bring to an interview, email your resume/cover letter, or download a professional looking resume then you do need a subscription. However we do offer the ability to download a FREE Plain Text format.
A monthly subscription to Resume Builder makes tailoring, customizing, and creating cover letters for every job that you will apply to. You can email, print and download unlimited resume and cover letters for your desired jobs and store it onto your computer. If you think a monthly subscription is not suitable for you, you can always cancel at any time. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings, if service is no longer needed.
If you have any questions regarding your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com
Best Regards,

It lets you think you're getting a free resume template but makes you pay at the end to get it. Had trouble with it printing correctly and uploading to an application website. I don't advise using it. Does have nice templates.

Hi Carol M.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. The ability to print, email, or download your resume and cover letters are features included in our paid subscription and not listed as a feature of the free account. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free.
With regard to the printing issues, it is advisable to download it in PDF or MS Word format, save it on your computer, then print it directly from there. For uploading to an application website, some sites would prefer it in plain text format only.
