Their resume service was advertised as 1.95. Only after I paid I realized I had subscribed to their service. They do inform you on your receipt after you pay, only it's hidden under a bunch of mumbo jumbo and very easy to miss. I noticed later that my card had been charged $39 not to mention a foreign transaction fee. I cancelled subscription online and called for a refund but was on hold for half an hour. I will call again later and update my review.

The resume templates were alright, but was charged $46 to use them because of their auto renew feature. Contacted to cancel service and get a refund, as I didn`t have any further need of the site and wont be needing any of the other features they offer, and was told it was a `valid`charge.

Overall, wish I`d used a different site. That`s an inordinate amount of money to download your resume. Perhaps a billing method that focused on how people use the site, instead of how long it takes them to cancel their subscription might be a better business practice... But I guess that`s how they make their money.

Hi Kate H.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. All of our subscriptions are auto-renewing if not cancelled. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings if service is no longer needed. A monthly subscription makes it easy for our customers to customize the resume and cover letter for each position for which they are applying, and also to avoid interruption on the service.

As a courtesy, I refunded the $39.80. You'll see it on your bank statement within 2-3 business days. I have also sent you a confirmation email for your records.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously and hope that you will reconsider your star rating and negative review of our site and service. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Best regards,

Anna

I'm appalled that this company could be so unethical in stealing from me. I have messaged them several times to cancel payments. Cancelled my membership and an still getting money stolen out of my account. It's cost me hundreds. I signed up for a couple of dollars. They then took my information and started helping themselves to my account. I have little mouths to feed. Have now called up my bank to dispute it. And am inconveniently getting a new card to put a stop to this once and for all. Disgusted.

Please make sure that you read any fine print that this LiveCareer site lists. I used the site to update a resume. I used their 14 day free membership, however after 14 days they automatically begin charging you $39.80/month. This was not made clear in my online interaction with the site. I used their resource one time. I ended up paying almost $120 to access the site once. When I contacted the site they cancelled the membership but then provided no refund. I contacted them again and only after pushing them they offered to refund 2 of the 3 months they charged me. Therefore I paid $39.80 for a resume. I would advise that there are better resources that do not have hidden charges. Use this site with caution.

This site is great. Helped my wife make multiple different resumes in different formats and layouts. Paid $1 for a week i think and then 7.99 for one month then cancelled it once we had all the resumes we needed and we were good to go. Took me two second to cancel it online and had no issues with future billing. Highly recommended

This service never fails to provide excellent services with such a user friendly website. For first time resume writers, or for someone who does not write many resumes, you wont have to with this service. You will most likely get the job with such a clean template, and if not, it saves everything on the website. I'm also a huge fan that they do not spam my email 3 times a day like many services. I will recommend this service to everyone I know due to the great quality for prices.

I have now cancelled my account three times, and yet they keep charging my credit card. The first two times were on-line. When I spoke to the rude woman in customer service, she stated that there was no record of my cancellation. I was able to get a partial refund today, so I hope that means that it is FINALLY cancelled!

On top of terrible customer service, the service itself does not work well. I tried repeatedly to work on my resume, and the program kept freezing. For $120, I didn't get even one decent resume out of this site! So if you are smarter than me, and reading reviews before submitting your card information, my advice is DON"T DO IT!

Hi Danielle G.,

I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our site and if you did not have the best customer service experience. We send an auto generated cancellation confirmation email once the subscription is successfully cancelled, you will also be prompted that it is indeed cancelled.

The partial refund was given as a courtesy credit. Rest assured that you won’t be billed any further.

There are a lot of negative posts about this site, From my experience, they are by people who are too stupid to survive without warning labels. The site clearly tells you(multiple times) that after 14 days it will automatically renew. If you are surprised by your account being charged by this site, it will take more then a well written resume for you to land a decent job.

I reached out to LC Cover Letter Now regarding automatic charges from my credit card that I was not aware of.
Representative Edgar Rangel was the person I chat with on live chat.
Very helpful, polite, explaining - helped me to solve the issue in a very short amount of time. The charges were fully returned to my credit card as well. Overall great experience! Thank you so much!

I would definately recommend this resume builder to anyone. It is easy to use and understand. Definitely worth the $1.95 for the 14 day trial. Also it's easy to cancel once you don't need their services anymore. The only reason I don't give five stars is because i think they should tell you that you will have to sign up for a membership to be able to print tour resume instead of after you invest the time making it. But other than that i would highly recommend.

I was very pleased with the service. When I initially paid the $1.95 charge, they clearly stated that the subscription must be cancelled within 14 days or my account would automatically be charged $39.80 every four weeks. I cancelled the subscription online within the 14 day time frame and am happy to report I had absolutely no problem in doing so. I was also provided a confirmation stating my subscription has been cancelled and also given a cancellation confirmation number. I have printed this for my records.

Easy to use, quick to build, but it said free until the very end as always... don't say free anywhere if its not completely free! If i can go on and build, print, and use without entering a credit card then that means free! I am tired of the world saying free and then asking for money! Be honest, i mean were looking for a job so why should we have to pay for a piece of paper and ink we already purchased? Think about it. Otherwise easy and helpful thanks!

This site is ok, for what it does. It is popping up in 'free resume help' searches but it's far from free. You can build your resume but you can't print, download or even copy it out of the site until you pay. They have it protected so you can't use anything. I tried to copy and past and it comes out in codes and weird characters. It's too expensive for what it is. $34.95 per month? It should be around $12 max for the use of this site! I just paid this by automatic drafting, but unlike others on here, I actually read all the agreements and licensing before accepting ;) you should try it sometime.
Live career is ok if you want to get as much done, as you can in a 2 week trial, for $2.95. BUT DON'T FORGET TO CANCEL! Other than that, its useless.

Once again, another site that takes advantage of young people. My son,(teenager), used this one time to do his very first resume. They charge your debit card for the small $1.95 fee which is fine. Fourteen days later, there is an almost $40 charge to the debit card. I'm sure this happens all the time and this is how they make their money. Customer service reps are not the nicest people either. It's a shame that a site that could possibly grow and one day be worth more than an average 2 STAR RATING(it's rated that for a reason) isn't more upfront with their policies, DON"T try to hide it in small print, be upfront and clear when it comes to playing with peoples hard earned money. They are on your site for a reason, to get help, not get ripped off by the ones that are supposed to help you get your career started. Shame on this company.

This company lures you in with a free resume builder

Then after you spend an hour building your perfect resume, you find out you can not print, save, or access in any way without first paying them around $1.50.

Then for the poor fools who don't read the fine print after a 14 day period they will start charging you a monthly $20.00 without notifying you.

Horrible, shady, despicable company.

I contacted LiveCareer to cancel prior to the free trial expiring. The customer service rep, Silvia, was very kind, patient and answered my questions. You were a great help Silvia!

What a joke. Been fighting with them over a year of charges on an account I never used. They claim to sent me an email after my $4.95 trail, but have been unable to produce the email. All reps are unhelpful and unwilling to give out company information. My lawyer is in the process of suing them.

Hi, work at LiveCareer. I apologize for the misunderstanding and if you did not get the best customer service experience. The $4.95 subscription is good for 7 days and we rely on you to cancel whenever you are finished. If you do not cancel we will assume that you are still using our service. Many of our customers continue to use our service for several months during their entire job search. We sent payment confirmation email right after you paid for the service for $ 4.95 and cancellation confirmation email if you have cancelled the service. You can check your inbox or spam messages sometimes it goes there by mistake.

If you have any questions regarding your subscription our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. Very quick to sort out my problem, my problem wasnt with the software its self, it was just not what i had been looking for and had requested a earlier cancellation roughly 11 months ago, mistakes happen. It was dealt with quick, politely and fast. The refund is apparently 3-5 days, hopefully all goes without a hitch.

I signed up for site and realizing the charge was a pre week charge not a per month charge. First mistake. Then I come to see a charge that is 4 times higher that stated on their website. Because they billed out changes on a 4 week basis. So for those of you signing up for a trail. Make sure you cancel. I would have been charged $35.80 every 4 weeks Which is $465.40 a year... a small fortune to those trying to find a job. I check my charges week or two but some people do not. I may not agree this is a scam, I do feel that I was able to get a decent resume from it however their advertising practices are deceitful. Please avoid.

I wanted the 14 day trial I did read through the small print but it also stated that it was easy to cancel your membership before your 14 days expired so not true! I tried live chat and waited online for up to 30 min with no response. I could not find the area on their web site they state is available to cancel and I tried emailing them. Finally I reached someone via telephone after waiting on hold and ended up being charged 38.80 for the service because by the time I reached someone it was one day past the 14. The worst part was I found the site to be totally lacking in professional resume help. It was a terrible site would not recommend unless you just want to give your money away.

I wanted to give a heads up that you will likely see a "International POS fee" on your bank statement. Apparently in small print, this was mentioned. They do their banking in the UK. I didn't read the small print.

It is kind of deceiving that they advertise as free resume building. I didn't know it would cost until after spending a lot of time creating my resume and at the end is when you see it'll cost to print or save it. I did not read the terms & conditions beforehand. With that being said, I was able to create & make a copy of my resume.
