I have found some of the most amazing deals and items through MaxSold. Not only have I virtually redecorated my house, but when my daughter moved in we found amazing deals on great items for her as well!
I've since starting sharing items with so many friends who have jumped on board!
I have purchased items from five auctions so far. Some of the items are kept with the majority resold. I have frequented hundreds of traditional auctions, estate sales, and participated in various online auctions. After purchasing $900 in items from a Maxsold auction in Orlando, I chatted with one of the employees on pickup day. He mentioned how he and his dad were bidding on many of the same items. I was a bit surprised, but he said, as an employee, he was able to bid just as anyone else. To me, this brings up the ethical debate. To me, it is no different than shill bidding. I have been to many on site auctions where workers bid, but will bow out as soon as someone in the crowd out bids them. It just makes one wonder if they are bidding to win, or, bidding to maximize the bottom line.
As a buyer I enjoy scrolling through the various auctions and finding unique and interesting pieces from my home. You can't beat the value of what you get as well as keeping things out of landfill. At pick up, everything is well organized. I am usually in and out within five minutes.
If you are buying, the prices can be amazing. Obscure interests and objects are found daily. Interested in Soap making - at some estate there will be everything you need to start a business in the field. Collect Avon Bottles, Blue glass, power tools, toy trains - it all shows up in the auctions. Not only that but MaxSold helps the environment by keeping items out of landfills. A+ for that.
If you are selling, it can be a little dicier. If the right group of people find your auction then major bucks, if not well...
MaxSold Estate Sales and Downsizing helps people clear out their space and make a little money quickly and painlessly. From onset to final object gone can be as little as two weeks. Where else can you find this kind of help and make money off of it instead of paying someone to haul it all away?
Maxsold staff was excellent to work with, from initial hire through cataloguing process, online auction, and itemized pickup. Every step was made seamless. My concerns were dealt with promptly and efficiently, removing any stress I had to get the house cleaned out prior to property sale closure.
I would recommend Maxsold to anyone. Again I want to commend the staff for their professionalism, following all Covid protocol, and support provided through the process. Extremely well done!
I've won several items on MaxSold and I have been satisfied with my purchase every time. The webpage is easy to use and they let you know exactly how much your item will be, with the premium charge even before you agree to bid. The staff at the pick-up locations are very friendly and ready to help you find your items. If you bid smart, you can get some really good deals. I've flipped many items I've won and re-sold them on eBay for a nice profit!
I was prevented from removing an item that I won (a washing machine). The water could only be shut off in the basement, so the Maxsold site manager would not allow us to remove the item. We were told to leave the washing machine in place. I arranged transportation and help. I couldn't believe it. I was offered a refund, but it's like winning the lottery, then being told, you can have the price of your winning ticket back.
In my mind, the seller owes me a washing machine.
I want to work with the seller to resolve this, but Maxsold has not been helpful. So bottom line, they screwed up, and I'm out.
Contrary to other reviews, I was able to sell 96% of lots. Rather than relying on MaxSold, I managed the whole thing myself. So, many of the things other reviewers are complaining about did not apply to me. It is a lot of work doing it yourself, but I think that is the only way you can control the auction. This is a good way of getting rid of what you don't want or need. Even though you don't want them, there are plenty of people who could use them and are willing to pay (though very little money). In the end, I was still able to get a fair amount of money to make it worthwhile. I did find their app much to be desired, though. I found it cumbersome and awkward to manage. Still I did get it done and I am quite pleased with the end result.
I have been the successful bidder on several items on two different occasions. The service was wonderful in assisting me to pick up my items, these wonderful guys even helped me carry them to my car. I will keep doing this as often as I can, when the sites are close enough to where I live. Fabulous job MaxSold
I have bought several items from 3 different Maxsold Auctions in Georgia. I love the items that I purchased. I was able to get great prices on items such as a 30+ piece toy wrestler figurine collection that I gave to my boys for only $31.00. This collection was worth over $200.00. I have found all the staff and Maxsold to be very friendly and helpful. I will continue to buy from Maxsold in the future.
I used MaxSold to declutter my house. I decided to really eliminate the old furniture, the broken tools, all the mismatched dishes, a wild assortment of bogus mugs, glasses, bowls, and kitchen items I never really use. A beautiful table that I got 25 years ago (I wanted a change!). Out also were extra chairs, storage boxes, and a car that had not been run in five years. Out, out, out! MaxSold helped professionally, organizing online a completely orderly disposal of this army of possessions that quite frankly... needed a new home and not the dump.
Wow, that’s amazing!
We’re so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with us!
If you are purchasing for the first time online with Maxsold you will find it very easy to navigate through the website. It is secure, easy to follow, easy to bid and also exciting! For those who are not computer skilled, no need to worry!
Once you have won what you are bidding on, going to pick your goodies up is just as fun. The staff waiting for you will get your item or items for you. The are helpful and very pleasant.
I started as a buyer and became staff! Auctions are easy to bid on, and the revamped website is great. It's also a great place to work, with good people on all ends of the business. Love me some Maxsold
It's only been a couple of months since I was introduced to MaxSold auctioning, but I've been able to pick up some great finds at reasonable prices. It's actually a bit of a thrill to see a lot you're bidding on go into extended bidding, more so when you win the lot at less than your 'MaxBid' amount.:)
Pickup is usually for a reasonable time - and you can check before bidding to make sure that the drive is worth the item(s)/price you're bidding on.
I'm having a blast with it.
I have bought from Maxsold auctions about 6 -8 times. Always been extremely happy with my purchases. They match the description in the auction ad. Which is really important. The employees have always been professional and helpful. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

I have purchased from a number of auctions and have found the Maxsold employees to be professional, friendly, and helpful. It is very easy to bid. When it is a seller managed auction there is a greater chance of waiting as the seller has opted to handle the sale themselves. The one seller managed auction was hard to find and not organized the way other sites were. I have gotten great deals on high end furniture. You have to read the information for the lot "as is" means they have not dusted or cleaned the items and they might have defects or be missing pieces. If the items says "heavy bring help" it means you have to bring muscle with you. It is also the consumer's responsibility to read the rules of bidding and pick up. Some of the items I have purchased from estate sales were dusty or needed cleaning but I could see that when bidding based on the pictures. You have to be a savvy consumer.
This was my first time purchasing from MaxSold. It was so quick and easy to bid. Once I arrived to pick up my goodies, I was greeted by a helpful staff member, dressed in a red apron (so I could find her easily). She took me to my items and even gave me some boxes to help load the items. Once I got some I opened up the boxes and was amazed at the Antique Christmas items I purchased, they were perfect and such a great deal!
I'll be back for more purchases!
Huge variety of items you see to bid on all the experience is a ton of fun and I end up with great pieces to add to my collection or to pass on to someone else who really wants it! The auctions are wonderful and have amazing finds. No 2 auctions are the same.
So although my bid should have been completed and item won. 12 minutes past with 4 bids to rival my bid, I lost the item. Company did not follow their own 'rules' even with their 'soft bid' closing. Very disappointing, I would not use this site.
Hi Carolyn,
We are sorry you didn't win the item you bid on, and we understand your disappointment since it sounds like you really wanted the item in question. Here is some more information on the 'soft close':
If a bid is placed on an item during the last two minutes of an auction, bidding will be extended for an additional two minutes. The lot will not close until bidding is static for two minutes.
If you wish to have further information or explanation on this, please reach out to support@maxsold.com and our team would be happy to assist you.
It took twice as long as they say for me to be paid. Messages left with no return call. Customer service reps kept telling me next week. Then it was discovered there was a systems problem. Otherwise it was a good experience. Happy with sale results.
Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

We aren’t sure what this user is referring to when then say "kept with the majority resold" as Maxsold does not keep items or resell them (we have no warehouses or logistics operations to move inventory). Maxsold sells items from the Seller’s home as part of a downsize or estate sale while allowing family to keep the items they hold most dear and having Maxsold sell the remainder through a transparent online auction where the highest bidder wins. Maxsold spends none of it's time or money on bidding / influencing prices other than to market the goods. If a team member bids, they do so with their own money and under the same rules as any other bidder with no access to back-end bidding information. For proof, you need only look what’s left after an auction is over - 98% on average is sold and removed by the buyers (not Maxsold). Maxsold conducts no auctions on behalf of itself - the inventory sold is always a 3rd party seller, selling from their location. We take our position about unreserved to the highest bidder extremely seriously and are able to share anonymous bid information with bidders (or sellers) that have concerns about bids.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision of providing access to a downsizing or estate sale to any customer that wants one (http://maxsold.com/maxsold-purpose/).
