I have been a buyer/customer of MaxSold for at least 6 years and have enjoyed the thrill of success I have experienced with some of the great wins/purchases. Being a disciplined buyer, I look for and select only the items I wish to purchase. Though there were times when I have been outbid, I am usually successful most of the time - and thrilled when my bids succeed.
It took a little time getting used to the rules on MaxSold, but when I did, my fun began and has yet to wain.
The on-site Staff has also been most attentive and helpful, on every occasion I have to collect my items.
I look forward to obtaining many unique items of interest, as many of them are no longer available on the open market. I shall continue to be an appreciative client, as long as I can contain and exercise my enthusiasm.
Well done MaxSold and I wish you continued success!
The $100. Discount & $50 to refer an auction to Maxsold applies ONLY IF the auction brings in over $1000. They do not make this clear during the sales call or contract negotiation. The claim that who ever referred is responsible to inform this is reprehensible. Especially for the auctions resulting less than $1000 the discount would help offset the cost of their fee. This is rather disappointing.
I had an office full of furniture and office equipment. The crew from maxsold were great, from the first day when they catalogued everything and the day it all was picked up. Items didn't sell for all that much but that's not why I went to them. I was moving and needed to get rid of a bunch of stuff. So as long as you're not looking to make a ton of money it's a great service. They did all the work, made it very easy.
I am a frequent buyer from MaxSold. While picking up my purchases I have found the staff to be very respectful and careful with the owner's property. They have the items sorted out and only allow a few people in at the same time. I have attended to the sites following the close of the pick up and I have always found the sites to be left in a clear order. MaxSold seems to me like a very respectable company offering tremendous service to the owners and also to people like me who appreciate a quality bargain... I highly recommend MaxSold to the potential sellers and buyers looking to purchase some of the most interesting items that former owners treasured... I am attaching a photo of my latest (refurbished) purchase.
They know nothing of the business. I bid on several items and then had a family emergency come up. The only answer was just wait and you will be outbid. Only
One did not. The COO called me to personally tell me I needed to show up at auction
To pickup the items and forget my family obligations. This guy just railed on and on, all
About $13.00 which was taken out on credit card immediately. I was willing to let the charge remain and never ask for a refund. Just another rectal opening running a company without a clue.
I have gotten some great deals including a mahogany table for $6. I find the secret to cheaper bulky items is that the farther they are from the main city the cheaper they go for. The only tech problem I encountered was when I bought too much and they had to adjust the pick up time.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for your review!
I have been doing online auction buying, (and one recent sale), with several different Auction Houses for about two years now. My experience ranges from other auction places as "I will never deal with that place again" to "Wow, look at that, fantastic" with Maxsold.
I have had many great experiences with MaxSold, and even when a mistake happens, they go out of their way to correct it! This in my opinion, the true measure of a company, as anyone can make a mistake, but it is how a company deals with it that makes the difference. They make every effort to make it right.
I've dabbled in the past with online auction sites like eBay and others, but Maxsold had won me over with the easy and simple way of bidding on what I want, being able to pick it up and not having to wait on the mailman after paying a shipping charge. I've considered storage auctions, but you have to take all of the items and clean the storage space. Maxsold has simplified the auction process.
MaxSold is a great company to do business with. I have only had the experience of dealing with them from the buyers side but it has definitely been a positive experience. The process of bidding is simple and streamlined, they set out clear expectations and if at all possible and under reasonable circumstances will work with you to ensure you're experience is a positive one. I highly recommend checking them out and placing your a few bids today.
Maxsold Auctions are very easy to use and user friendly. Their staff at every auction location have been more than friendly and extremely helpful. This is a new auction experience and I for one, love it! Thank you Maxsold!
I used Maxsold yesterday to buy, that part went fine but the pick up was a disaster. They instruct to come down large long driveway but when you get the driveway is blocked with cones and the women instructs you to park on the street, in a no parking & no standing zone on one side if the driveway entrance and the other NJ transit bus stop. They had the street jammed up an a person pulled in behind me blocking the Neighbors driveway. I then had to walk down & back, the long driveway 6 times to get all my stuff to the car. Meanwhile the driveway at least 2 car width wide is empty. They could have fit at least 4 cars on the side, and as the cars were loaded, directed them down on the circle area at the end, to turn around an then pull out. I called maxsold but they did nothing, and they scheduled the pick ups 1 minute a part so it was a zoo. I have also had a maxsold last year, and again lack of customer service with the pick up, they scheduled too many customers to come at the same time, so the first 2 hours were crazy. They had people leaving stuff behind, picking what to take out of the lot they won, leaving behind some items that now you have to get rid of. No shows, etc. To think they charge 1250 plus 30% and give little to no help with customer service.
I've bought a lot of stuff from Maxsold. I've had problems with just one item. Won the auction of two stock tanks for $30. One heck of a buy! When we went to pick them up, only one was there. When I research what happened, I found that one item was listed in two lots, so by the time we got there, the other person had already picked up our item thinking it was included in their lot. All Maxsold did was refund my $30.
I bought about $200 worth of jewelry. They were in plastic bags and the different lots were separated by only blue tape on a dining room table. I read back the lot numbers to the Maxsold rep and they matched so I thought I got everything. The day I checked my inventory I found I was missing about 1/3 of the items pictured on the auction site. Seems someone else got part of my lot. They need to do a better job of keeping the lots separated properly. I basically just threw away over $65 by not getting the entire lot I paid for. And I drove over two hours to pick it up.
It's disappointing that we provided this customer an unsatisfactory experience. If they haven’t already done so, I would invite them to complete a refund request form (www.maxsold.com/refund). Although requests made after pickup are considered on a case by case basis (as they are outside the agreed to terms and conditions of bidding noted below), we are committed to being fair to all our customers.
The following attempts to highlight the process, performance rate, and method to avoid disappointment for all potential buyers on Maxsold's platform.
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer can inspect the item in full view of the auction staff, other buyers (and sometimes the Seller) and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site (including missing). In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:
"CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller."
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement:

I have been buying from MaxSold for several months now and love it. I find it very easy to bid and the system is fair to everyone. The pick ups for the most part are easy but do remember to bring your own bags and boxes.
Every auction is handled differently from what I have seen (from being over supervised to no supervision) but I have not yet had an issue at any.
Great for deals on just about everything.
Maxsold is great when you feel you have too much clutter and are not able or want to throw things out. They are extremely helpful at all stages and the customers and sellers are really nice people and we form a little maxsold family as you run into the same people often. I love it!
Missing pieces purchased were taken out to sell at auction house. Bronze piece and bull at bottom left
Were missing. Lady by the name Mary offered me a refund I am not accepting no refund I told her. I am still refunding $40 to your card she said. BBB has to know about this. Because it is not the first time this happen to me.
Just attended my first auction and won more lots than planned. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and everything was as described (down to the negative parts). Read the descriptions before you bid (about pickup times) and you won't have any surprises. This is an auction, not a buy and sell.
I purchased some things from the real estate agent. These things were put on a list and given to Maxsold. They did not list them in the auction. When I arrived with the agent. After they were done with the sold items from the auction… my things and many other things were gone. Tried to resolve this with maxsold. Got many e mails back. Bunch of double talk and no answer to what happened to the missing items. Never use anyone that would steal things from you for their own personal gain. Horrible business practices..
I live in a small town in IL. There is nothing ever for sale near me. I've checked the site numerous times on and off for the past 6 months. I guess it's just not popular in my area. I'm sure other's are able to enjoy the site. Just note that not everyone will be able to use this site.
I have used Max Sold before, but the first time I won a bid was a very good experience. There was plenty of email feed back regarding my winning bid: Full description of items in the lot, detailed sales receipt including taxes and commissions etc, step by step instructions and expectations, and finally a reminder the day before the scheduled pick up time. At pick up there were 5 friendly staff who were organized and very helpful. Couldn't have had a better experience.

Answer: The site states clearly that you must pick up your article at the specific time and place. If you cannot do that or arrange for someone to do it for you... then don't bid.
Answer: Definitely not on their youtube channel as they've removed the ability to comment. This alone was enough for me to steer clear.
Answer: Please see our past auction results at http://maxsold.com/past-auctions/ - every auction we've done is listed for public viewing. You will see the sell through rate for each auction, and you can calculate the percent sold. Our average sell through is 98.7%.
Answer: Winning bids are charged to the credit card on file right AFTER each auction ends, along with 10% buyers premium and the applicable retail sales tax for your region. The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00. However, it is only a bank authorization for validation, not a charge, and it is usually removed in about a week by your bank.
Answer: Hi Peter, We found that when minimum bids or reserves are put on items, they typically go unsold. For more information on why we start our items at $1 check out this link: http://maxsold.com/reserve Here are some Seller FAQ's https://support.maxsold.com/hc/en-us/sections/200632154-Seller-FAQs You may also reach out to our sales team directly at our toll-free number 1-877-257-7799 ext 2. Answer: $700 + 30% if they do the photos and pick-up. If you do the work on your side it is $300 or 30% whatever is higher. It is near the bottom of this link. https://get.maxsold.com/sell-with-maxsold/
Maxsold exhibits a mixed reputation, with positive feedback highlighting efficient communication, smooth auction processes, and satisfactory customer experiences for both buyers and sellers. Many users appreciate the value they find in auctions and commend the professionalism of the staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding misrepresentation of items, lost goods, and communication issues, particularly during pickups. Customers also express dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and the company's response to service failures. Overall, while Maxsold has a solid base of satisfied users, addressing operational shortcomings and enhancing customer support could improve their reputation further.

After 3 generations and 50+ years as a family business and 10 years as an online auction company, it’s always disappointing to have a customer upset. In support of reducing customer disappointment, Maxsold makes every effort to set expectations accordingly, outlining both the opportunity and the responsibility bidders have. The responsibility is not about the money - it’s about ensuring the Seller is not left with a problem created by not fulfilling responsibilities (the commitment to may payment, remove purchases during pickup and, if this responsibility is ignored, agreement to waive any refund and/or face possible removal from the bidder community for failing to keep commitments). Maxsold and it’s bidder community provide the seller with a finite experience that ensures items are removed on the Seller’s timeline - and for this commitment, bidders get the opportunity to choose to bid or not with everything starting at $1 and selling to the highest bidder.
When a bidder/buyer decides to trade one obligation for another (instead of making arrangements as other bidders in the same situation do), it comes with consequences. In some cases, we make exceptions (as we did in this case) to refund a bidder provided they take the time to understand their responsibilities going forward. When we do this, the buyer is refunded (at Maxsold’s cost), the Seller still has to figure out how to get rid of the item (that another bidder would have presumably been happy to purchase and remove), and we contact the buyer to explain their responsibilities for next time so as not to create the same problem again. When a customer suggests our purpose isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, we are forced to remove them to protect the integrity of the other bidders in the bidding community as well as future sellers from repeated abuse.
