As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
First time seller and multiple technical issues such as: - Date I picked for pickup was not the date given to purchasers - Reports online differed from reports received (kept telling me one lot wasn't paid for online) - No instructions on what to do if lot isn't picked up - App DOES NOT link to a sale you've started - Uploading photos was a challenge Reported to Maxsold and basically told to bad. They only addressed the first issue and said a confirmation email had the same date as the purchasers despite their online system showing the data I had chosen.
The Maxsold representatives that cataloged the auction did a great job and they were very patient explaining what they were doing. At the end, pick-up went very smooth and again, the Maxsold representative were very personable and helpful.
I have purchased items at a few sales that Maxsold has looked after.
The bidding and purchase process was excellant and smooth.
Then the pick up of the items was super.
Moldsold worker on site were very helpfull getting my items that I purchased. They asked if I needed any more help or support at every location.
Unlike the eBay's of the world, there is no rating system, where users can rate the sellers. Why bother? The majority of auctions are downsizing, a one off thing?
It the item is a "working item" and they do not say "tested, in working condition" assume it DOES NOT WORK.
If the listing is for MANY similar items, and they re NOT described in the listing do not assume anything. I have bought 65+ Lp's (they were 66), where the seller pictured 6 (Stones, Beatles, MJ, Joel) and the other unpictured 59 were non-english religious albums. But one is led to believe they are pop albums for that is what was pictured, BUT it never stated that. Assume you are buying what is pictured and described and nothing else.
Don't get caught assuming or you will get burned.
I love the deals and unique items you find on MaxSold. Everything is done in the comfort of your home and you can choose to drive as little as 15 minutes to 3-4 hours or more to get the unique item you want. I like the idea of using the MaxBid option so If I don't want to miss out on something I put the highest amount in and then I can sit back and relax. I love that pick up happens on a certain day and time. Very easy to plan, if I cannot pick up then I can have my family pick it up for me. Very simple to do I just give them to receipt and directions. I like the idea of picking up items that need some TLC then I can paint and refinish to match my décor.
This is the 2nd time I've used MaxSold and once again I was very pleased. Everything from the initial communications to pick up day went flawlessly. I appreciated the constant communication and support. The ladies that prepped for and worked the auction were AMAZING They were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They are truly assets to the Company. The support team that assisted me after the pictures were available were wonderful. I'm very happy with the outcome. I HIGHLY recommend MaxSold
As a first time user of MaxSold's services I have been totally satisfied by their support and organization throughout every step of their process. My only disappointment was the prices I received from the sale - although I have to acknowledge that I do not think there was anything more MaxSold could have done.
I participated in my first two MaxSold auctions last week, and I am hooked! I was impressed with the detailed photos posted, and I LOVED the fact that all auctions start at $ 1! I bought a beautiful numbered and signed serigraph by Tomie dePaola (award-winning children's author and artist) for $ 17! The employees at the auction site were welcoming and helpful. I check the site daily, hardly able to wait until the next auction begins!
Outrageous premium charges, buried in fine print. These + HST charges on used items means you will pay 27% more than your bid.
And the pickup windows are 2 mins. Seriously.
Caveat Emptor
Tip for consumers:
Dont use or be redy to pay 27% more than your bidding price

The site loads correctly, emails are prompt, and I have gotten exactly what I expected everytime. Sales pickup has been a breeze.
Highly recommend this to any deal seeker or auction enthusiast.
Absolutely love MaxSold and have become a bid "junkie". Have found some wonderful buys - especially art work. Most recent buy that I am delighted with was a keurig coffee maker for only $3.00.
I see prices go up on Maxsold. FB is full of clutter going down in price that doesn't get seen unless you search for that specific item or the price gets slashed.
Thank you so much for the review! We are so pleased you are enjoying our auctions!
I have bought many items of quality through Maxsold. Absolutely love their bidding process. Every chance I get I go on the website to see if there are new sales.
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words, we are so happy you enjoy shopping on MaxSold!
Thank you!
Was a regular customer had a few problems but let them pass. The final straw was that I bought items marked antique with normal wear and tear for its age boy THAT WAS A MISTAKE! Their idea of wear was the first items were 12 plates one was glued together and every plate was scratched! Then a royal Doulton figurine with a 3 inch split up the side these were nicely wrapped when picked up. They told me I was negligent for not ripping apart their heavy tape and bubble wrap on the spot and inspecting it first. Was booted off the site because I asked for my monies back which 3 days later I am still waiting for BUYER BEWARE!
It's disappointing that we provided this customer an unsatisfactory experience. My review of this person's invoices is that the refund requested has been executed and may take up to 14 business days for their credit card company to recognize our return of funds (though it is available on their invoice for review). Although requests made after pickup are considered on a case by case basis (as they are outside the agreed to terms and conditions of bidding noted below), we are committed to being fair to all our customers.
The following attempts to highlight the process, performance rate, and method to avoid disappointment for all potential buyers on Maxsold's platform.
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer can inspect the item in full view of the auction staff, other buyers (and sometimes the Seller) and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site. In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:
CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller.
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement:

I won two auctions, both in same pickup category. Arrived at 10:30am for my items (start time of 10am) and we had to wait on the sidewalk outside for 30 minutes before someone called us to get our items. We finally went in and the things were filthy dirty, there was a lot of garbage mixed in with the things we had won, which weren't shown in the pictures. Things like: loose bandaids, dirty toilet brushes, rusted cans of leaking cleaning products, used wigs. Basically 4 garbage bags full of trash. The dishes that were shown in the pictures were much smaller than they looked and dirty with rat droppings all throughout the stuff. Everything smelled bad too. I will never, ever buy another thing from Maxsold again! Waste of time and money and you could catch diseases from the stuff!
I have been a buyer of MaxSold for a while now. This is an easy to navigate, easy to bid and easy to pay for site. Their staff is always on site for pick up, they're helpful. They're fast, and for the most part they're all polite.
I would also like to say to the people that are unhappy, It is not MaxSold's fault that your stuff sells for less than you expected. When you put stuff up for auction, it is the buyers that determine how much $$ they are willing to pay for items. As a buyer I go to auctions so I can pick things up at greatly reduced prices, it's how auctions work.
If you win an auction on a large item, as a buyer it is YOUR responsibility to disassemble. If you by yourself can't do it in the allotted time, bring more people to help you. With more people disassembling goes faster. If something looks to heavy to move on your own, bring a friend to help. Common sense goes both ways, if you don't use yours, you have no one to blame but yourself.
From beginning to final pick up our experience was a pleasant surprise. The team was on time, finished cataloging early and great to deal with. Special thanks to our team leader Barb who was a pleasure. She was informative and helpful. The pick up went smoothly and when all was complete the house was empty which enabled us to have a stress free transition to our new home. Best of all our buyers were varied and interesting - all of our items found good homes. Repurposing gave us a good feeling about the downsizing experience. Many thanks to the MaxSold team!
Since finding MaxSold about a month ago, I have been finding and winning auction weekly, for great value and amazing fun! Online auctions make it easy and safe to find treasures in my local area.
I missed my pick ups due to Tropical storm Henri' and also the time frame I was given for an alternate: the pickup sight was closed. This was an emergency, MaxSold Terms clearly state Emergencies: we will work with you. All I received was a form e-mail reply and that form reply did nothing to address my plea It only presented their terms and conditions, I replied as was directed and received the same response form E-mail I strongly urge people to avoid any business with MaxSold.

After bidders came to pick up their lots, one of their employees who managed the event told me she, Claire (with an Irish brogue) and Tammy could help sell on private consignment, my deceased brother's 43 watches and other related items which Claire said MaxSold wouldn't sell due to their small size. She sent me an email listing all of the items and her (Claire's) fees for replacing watch batteries, prep for selling the items on EBay, Mercado, etc., and mailing/shipping costs. A list of when EBay would reimburse her account was also included. Needless to say, she was never heard from again even though I sent two emails and left two voicemails for her without any response. When I contacted MaxSold they said she wasn't supposed to do that and they would speak to her. I haven't heard anything since and am filing a claim in small claims court. This is the last thing I needed during this grief period. I agree with Mel F that this is not a good deal for sellers.
It's disappointing that this Seller seems to be having a disappointing experience after completion of our contracted services. Although we appreciate the trouble seems to be with people who work for us, the Seller seems to have contracted them to perform services outside ours. We have attempted to reach out to the Seller a number of times to better understand the situation, but whatever this situation is, it is not a Maxsold service nor would we have suggested or supported it had we been made aware.
We hope the Seller is able to resolve their concerns. We are still willing to understand the situation in an attempt to support them, however, I am not certain there is more we can do for them given whatever they have contracted separately for is outside our scope of services.
Nat and the young man helping her were so friendly and helpful. There is my third MaxSold and I always look for there sales. The Max Sold people have the best signs and the most organized sales. It is a joy to go to one of there sales. Nat and Maurice(might be missspelled) help me load the car and always have a big welcoming smile and so friendly. A joy to go to MaxSold sales. Thank you. Patricia McGrevey Always excellent value.
This was my first and last time on Maxsold. I only bid on some craft things for my Grandkids. I am told that I bid on two other Items, both of which I have no use for. I dont have a patio and I already own a large SS gas grill, again I would have no use for either. I was going to bid on the snow blower but was told by Maxsold that if I could not pick it up on the date and time assigned that item, I would not only lose the item. I would also lose my money. I had a death in the family and could not pick it up. They charged my credit card for an item I did not bid on. I calledl customer service and was told either pick the item up or lose it all. Rather than lose, I put and ad on Craigslist, free grill, and someone got so MaxSold did not get it. Never again
Communication is not what it should have been. We were not told that "furniture does not auction well" until after the auction was over and I was horrified that much of our large items, furniture, sold for a few dollars, whereas small things we did not expect much for sold for a reasonable amount. Had I been informed of this earlier, I would have attempted to sell the furniture myself, through Nextdoor, or Craigslist. My almost new leather LazyBoy recliner was misclassified as "faux-leather" with no brand name. It sold for FOUR DOLLARS. What a waste. And a huge disappointment.
In addition to taking feedback from our Seller’s and doing our best to make it right in their eyes, it’s important to provide the following information for transparency for others that may be reading this. It’s an unfortunate reality that the market doesn’t always pay a seller what a seller thinks is a fair price for individual things (or perhaps even in aggregate) under a competitive auction model (this is true for any auction company). Maxsold does its very best to provide both a detailed outline of our process (www.maxsold.com/sell) and share our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of the market when items must be sold. Sellers have both financial and emotional attachments to items and so our job is to sell only those items they need to part with - typically items that will soon be a liability due to a move / sale of real estate / etc. as selling the items avoids additional, ongoing, logistical and/or storage costs. Our model, which includes selling everything to the highest bidder regardless of price, guarantees our sellers a finite and transparent experience that passes the logistical burden onto the buyers as they MUST arrive and remove, with their own resources, all of their purchases from the sellers location during a short time window agreed to by the Seller. This saves hundreds (if not thousands) in labor alone.
Although we are confident that a 3rd party professional appraiser would agree that our results were fair value, we are ultimately sorry that our seller is disappointed in this case.

Where other solutions try to control prices while having no control over time of sale, we give the seller control of time while giving up control of price to market competition. For people who have items that will soon cost them to hold onto, this is the most economic (and green) solution to the problem of getting things removed on their timelines (typically for a much larger value proposition such as a closing real estate transaction or avoiding ongoing rental/lease costs).

I have been shopping with Maxsold Canada, Victoria for approx. Two years now. I have always found the Maxsold staff helpful and professional. Though I have felt rushed at the auction pick up. I go in with a plan of how and what order I'm going to pick up my items. The staff though pleasant do have their own ideas. This has resulted in some missed items. I contacted the Max sold staff after the auction. They have always been very fair refunding a percentage of the price which I appreciated. I understand they need to keep the flow of buyers moving. But I think there would be fewer customer complaints if buyers were allowed and given the time to review and pack things as they had planned. I have also shopped at many Maxsold Seller managed auctions. These are a little different I shopped at three different auctions held by the same family. This was also rushed and items had been switched or removed from the lots. Max sold compensated me for the switched and missing items. Overall I give Maxsold 5 stars. I love the auctions and find so many treasures. Any negative experiences are handled with professional courtesy.
I thought I was just getting an amazing deal on a fantastic coffee table that I fell in love with, but once I bought the table (which was amazingly easy and the people were SO friendly) I found out that not only is MaxSold a great place for great stuff, but they have a broad interest in the environment which is super cool. I've already recommended the site to several friends and I can't wait to find more great items for my home as well as to continue learning more about ways I can help the planet!
