As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
First time seller and multiple technical issues such as: - Date I picked for pickup was not the date given to purchasers - Reports online differed from reports received (kept telling me one lot wasn't paid for online) - No instructions on what to do if lot isn't picked up - App DOES NOT link to a sale you've started - Uploading photos was a challenge Reported to Maxsold and basically told to bad. They only addressed the first issue and said a confirmation email had the same date as the purchasers despite their online system showing the data I had chosen.
I had to downsizing from a house to just two rooms! We had both my husband and myself lots of hobbies and lots of accumulated stuff over the years. With practically no family to give items away I could not have been able to get rid of all the things I was able to sell through Maxsold. On the otherhand it was sad to see certain items to sell for so little and feel that there should be a better base price to start the bidding!
Using MaxSold was fun and relatively easy. My only disappointment was that I originally signed up for MaxSold managed sale but ended up having to do self- managed one instead due to unavailability of a team member. However they did put me in touch with someone locally who helped me for a fee. I probably would have netted a little more with a MaxSold managed sale. The process is very quick. They live up to the timeline they promise. A much easier and economical process than an on-site estate sale. The buyers do most of the work and the next thing you know, your house is empty! I enjoyed it!
Between my husband and myself we have been the winning bidders in at least 25 Maxsold auctions in the past year. An extremely user friendly and secure website, fabulous items and A+ customer service are the reasons why. We mainly purchase collectibles but I have also picked up numerous household items for 2 sons who have moved out on their own including pots and pans, dishes, art work, night stands, an antique dresser and books. The deals are so good I declared I wasn't buying anything new at the mall again!
For anyone on the fence about using MaxSold I recommend checking out their Past Auctions link and seeing for themselves what was available and what things sold for.
One of the things I like best about MaxSold is that as a buyer I don't have to go to some stranger's home or meet them in a parking lot to purchase.
I was amazed at the items I was able to bid on at Maxsold. My very first winning bid was for an item our family was in need of - a brand new garbage disposal. We got this for a great price and have been very happy with all our purchases.
I have been looking for dining room chairs for at least two years and could never find just the right ones. I was thrilled to be the successful bidder on MaxSold and found the whole process easy and seamless. The pick-up location was described accurately, and there were MaxSold representatives there to answer any questions.
Thanks MaxSold!
I decided to use MaxSold when my Mother moved in with me. We were totally shocked at the process and results. Two ladies were sent to do the cataloging and they used ONLY negative terms on the cataloging and the pictures were terrible. I was not told about the $1.00 starting point for the bidding after signing the contract. Who starts a big at $1.00? Then they said that if the lot didn't sell for $10.00 or more then WE HAD TO PAY the difference between $1.00 and $10.00. They were clearly not caring about the seller. They definitely cater to resellers. My Mom ended up with $89.00 for her entire 1 bedroom apartment. They didn't include the china cabinet/dining table/6 chairs in one lot. They were separated. They were not aware of the value of anything. I would never recommend them to anyone. We felt like my Mom's items were literally stolen from her.
My family and friends are always teasing me about how often I'm bidding items on MaxSold! They are constantly asking me if I plan to open my own thrift store! I love this site! I've only had one bad experience and it was because of another customer; not MaxSold. The customer attempted to take my auction items! The MaxSold employee was extremely helpful in confronting the other customer and making them take my items out of their vehicle and giving them to me! Once this happened, MaxSold was quick to make necessary changes to avoid this problem in the future.
I have been buying from them, but recently I've noticed that the bidding on items go outrageously high. I am suspecting Shill Bidding? I hope that's not the case. Because that will be very unethical. The auctioneer or its members should NOT be bidding in order to raise the prices. I noticed this specially when items are supposed to go together.
For the most part, Maxsold sells items from a Seller’s home as part of a downsize or estate sale while allowing family to keep the items they hold most dear and having Maxsold sell the remainder through a transparent online auction where the highest bidder wins with no influence by the Seller or Maxsold.
Maxsold spends none of it's time or money on bidding / influencing prices other than to market the goods. We take this rule about unreserved to the highest bidder extremely seriously and are able to share anonymous bid information with bidders (or sellers) that have concerns about bids. All they need do is email support with the auction and lot(s) they would more bid/bidder transparency on and we will be happy to provide it.
We appreciate the perception this bidder has, however the truth is simply that most bidders wait until the last few minutes to place their bids. Additionally, MaxSold's bidder base and auction volume is growing faster than any other auction house we are (currently) aware of.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision of providing access to a downsizing or estate sale to any customer that wants one (http://maxsold.com/maxsold-purpose/). Sometimes I find the most unusual things on MaxSold and I can usually get them at a decent price! I like to make multiple purchases at each auction to make the trip worthwhile. MaxSold makes it easy to find and bid on things you want.
Tip for consumers:
Most of the bidding happens in the last hour.

I have bought furniture, appliances, pet supplies, etc.
I did an auction with MaxSold to de-clutter my family's personal belongings. A second motivation was to try the MaxSold process for myself to see if it is a viable solution for my senior move management clients who need to get rid of decades' worth of accumulated possessions when they are downsizing. I had heard good things from other Senior Move Managers across the country, but I was a little bit wary because MaxSold was new to my area. Well, I could not have been happier with the results. 98% of the lots in my auction sold, I couldn't believe it! The process works, and I look forward to teaming up with MaxSold for many future clients.
I have purchased from several MaxSold auctions and for the most part, have been pleased. Lately, speaking of today, two different auctions with both have bad items. Issue one: the pictures did not show the damage (extreme damage) to the sofa set. No way this set would have gone so high with the damage it has. The pictures did not do justice with transparency. Issue two: second auction subwoofer does not work. I feel to protect MaxSold reputation, better pictures, and disclosure, and owner statements of working or not working or even untested should be done.
From registration to my first purchase, I have found Maxsold to have a very easy to navigate website, with clear explanations on pick up, increments table and soft closings. Pick up sites are very well organized and have friendly, helpful staff. Some seller's even offer congratulations on your purchases. We have been delighted with all purchases to date and it has been wonderful to help our son get great values on furnishing his new home from A to Z.
I have purchased from dozens and dozens of MaxSold auctions. Yes, there is a difference in the MaxSold run auctions and the owner run auctions. I have had a few times where the items were damaged or not as stated. Each time, the issues were quickly resolved to my satisfaction and with respect. I would tell the entire world about MaxSold, but then, it would increase the competition. So I keep this best-kept secret to myself. I do brag about the bargains I get, however. Highly recommended.
I have been so impressed with MaxSold from my first contact until they deposited the check in my account. They have been responsive to all my questions and concerns as well as efficient in executing a large sale with a large collection of dishware, art, furniture. Nothing broken or damaged. They set up in one day and came back a week later. People came in one at a time. Smart way to clear your home! I recommend MaxSold highly! M. Feinstein
The best staff, comforted me during the time of selling everything I own. They represented themselves as professionals and as human beings. See the the pics below before and after the sale. 99% of everything sold!
Hi! I just finished my household sale with MaxSold. I am glad I had the sale; but would not do it again. First of all, I think you need to have a higher starting price than $1.00! When I went into this, I knew it was starting at $1.00; but thought that more people would bid and the price would go up. I got small amounts for most of my stuff; which I think should have gone for a lot more. Also, I did not like the groupings. They put a lot of good stuff together and it sold for really cheap. I would not do this again. I did get rid of a lot of stuff; which I am glad about; but the prices not so happy about. It was a learning experience; and now I know what it was about. Never again. However, the people that came to my place were very nice! I enjoyed having them here; polite and very nice. My main drawback was how little the stuff sold for.
We appreciate the positive comments this customer shared regarding our team.
That said, it’s an unfortunate reality that the market doesn’t typically value a seller’s goods in the same way the Seller values them - even using a competitive auction model. At MaxSold, we do our very best to provide both a detailed outline of our process and share our past auction data to prepare sellers for the realities of the market when items must be sold.
Sellers have both financial and emotional attachments to items. Our job is to sell only those items they need to part with (typically items that will soon be a liability due to a move or a sale of real estate) as selling the items avoids ongoing costs (moving, storage, etc.). Our model, which sells everything to the highest bidder, guarantees a finite and transparent experience that passes the logistical burden of removal onto the buyers at a location and time specified by the Seller. This saves hundreds (if not thousands) in labor alone.
Where other solutions try to control prices while having no control over time of sale, MaxSold gives the seller control of time while giving up control of price to market competition. For people who have items that will soon cost them to hold onto, this is the most economical (and green) solution to the problem of getting things removed on a timelines (typically for a much larger value proposition such as a closing real estate transaction or avoiding ongoing rental costs).

We are ultimately sorry this customer didn’t feel our process served them well. We continue to support new Sellers and Buyers everyday in our pursuit to empower buyers and sellers to extend the life of things for new generations to love. https://maxsold.com/maxsold-purpose/
I have already won the items which is four big oil painting. But when i got in and want to get it, the staff told me there's missing, but they saw it several minutes ago. The staff told me they know a guy got almost 40 paintings and he got it. So staff promise me to get this painting and send to my home next day. But when i was leaving, the manager she told me if can not find it just return money to me. After two days, i received email that told me they made a call to this guy, but no response. So MaXsold would like me to fill out refund application and get 20 tim hortons card. | made a call to manager and want to return all the items from this auction. She said no! Why i paid it off but i can't get my items. Why I return you items can't get money back? Is it fair? I have already attend over 10 times auction from Maxsold, I really find something it's not normal.
Dear Grace Z - As discussed with you over the phone, we are sorry the painting was not there for you at pickup as it was our responsibility to ensure it would be. Our team made efforts to retrieve it making calls and sending emails for several days but ultimately had to ban the other buyer for their actions. We offered a full refund on that item along with a $20 giftcard for the error. We feel we did all we could and, at your request, offered to continue retrieval efforts but that it would be in lieu of a full refund given the additional, outside policy, effort that would be required to potentially still end up empty handed. In all cases of issues at pickup, refunds are the only economic model we have to compensate for errors. We do apologize for this. We understand you feel this was unfair even with a full refund and a $20 coffee card - we are sorry.
I have bid on several items on maxsold over the past year and got great deals (especially on Vinyl Records). The process for picking up the items has been so easy and have had no issues. I love that it is a way to encourage the second-hand market and find a new home for these items.
I love the eclectic items I find and things I really need. They are always at a good price and a bonus is it's fun to bid on the items. Even if I don't bid on anything, I love looking at all the auctions.
The software used is counterintuitive and not easy to navigate. Items get dropped, photos disappear and any attempt to correct them is difficult. I also feel that the level of support provided for the 30% charge is inadequate.
Hello Martha,
We are sorry that you had a difficult time with out app. However, we are happy to report that because of feedback such as yours that we have collected over the past few months, we will be releasing an entirely new app for our sellers in the coming weeks. It is currently undergoing final beta testing before the release.
We are sorry your experience was difficult and if you would contact us at support@maxsold.com we can review and look into the issues you encountered.
This year I purchased a candelabra that was advertised as being Sterling Silver. When I won the item and got home with it I realized it wasn't Sterling. I wrote to Maxsold and told them what happened. They reviewed my email and then offered my money back. I didn't pay very much at all. I decided to keep it and resell it on eBay. The fact that they offered a refund made me realize they are a top notch business. They stand behind what they say. They have me as a life long customer.
With the variety of items up for auction, doing your homework can actually put money in to your pocket, or build on your own collection. Also great way to get deals on other items needed around the home!
My experience with MaxSold was excellent. From the initial phone call to the pick up day, I found each person to be professional and their system efficient, transparent and timely. I would highly recommend MacSold in the future.

Thank you for the great review of the service you received! We always love to hear from our sellers.
I love MAXSOLD! They are always professional, helpful, and they have superior merchandise. My first time bidding was scary because I'd never bid before. However, I'm so glad that I did because I have formed a wonderful relationship with an amazing company. I have bid many times since and have always been extremely pleased. I love you, maxsold
I just joined and won one of the "lots" on which II had bid. It was so convenient that I could pay for the items and just go pick them up. As it turns out, there were additional items that could not be seen in the photo... I already thought it was a value, but there was also icing on the cake!
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
It’s an unfortunate reality that some Seller’s hire MaxSold without fully appreciating what we do and what the market is willing to pay for their items. We do our very best to provide both a detailed outline (www.maxsold.com/sell) and all our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of their situation but ultimately, some choose not to review the data and information we make public (including that we do not employ reserves and that everything starts at $1 - http://maxsold.com/reserves). In addition, our model allows Sellers to have everything sold and removed on their timelines and at prices the market is willing to bear. When a Seller hires us to achieve a subjective financial outcome - after contractually committing to our model of time, not price, control - their mistake may leave them disappointed as some Seller’s value their items more than the market does.
