As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
First time seller and multiple technical issues such as: - Date I picked for pickup was not the date given to purchasers - Reports online differed from reports received (kept telling me one lot wasn't paid for online) - No instructions on what to do if lot isn't picked up - App DOES NOT link to a sale you've started - Uploading photos was a challenge Reported to Maxsold and basically told to bad. They only addressed the first issue and said a confirmation email had the same date as the purchasers despite their online system showing the data I had chosen.
As a regular buyer from MaxSold, I was a happy customer. Finding great deals and scoring bargains was fun and easy to do. Recently, I crossed over to the other side and became a seller... and the results were just as good, if not better. The extra stuff in my house is gone, and a chequered is on the way.
I was honestly surprised with how straightforward the entire bidding and pick up process was. The range of things available for auction is astounding. The bidding system is very simple and the site updates frequently so you aren't caught off guard by competing bids. The pick up time window system is clever and not held to too intense of an expectation. All staff was kind and helpful during pick up and helped to the best of their ability. I've recommended the site to numerous friends
Tip for consumers:
Really easy to get good deals on small innocuous items but you have to be vigilant of your bids on higher end products. People are savages but you can make an informed decisive bid to compete if you pay attention to the bidding windows.

The more I participate in MaxSold online auctions, the more I love it. I was first introduced to this when a local Bell Media owned radio station participated in this online auction. I knew it was trustworthy because all the brand-new items and gift certificates were being sold by local advertisers in the Peterborough area, many who I was familiar with. I than started participating in more auctions and have learned to completely trust this method of purchasing used items. A MaxSold employee is responsible for taking the photos of items and providing a realistic opinion of the condition of the item. The more pictures of an item from different angles means I'm getting a good idea of what the item really looks like. At pickup time, I have found most of the MaxSold reps to be very friendly and they have welcomed my feedback.
I like a few auction sites here in the Hamilton area of Ontario and Maxsold is a great one. The items I have purchased are always as advertised and I have never had a problem over the bidding process. Amazing deals and I find the seller managed auctions to be remarkably good. Sellers must be given great instructions on what to do and how... I would assume the Maxsold managed auctions would be good because they are run by staff who are experienced.
I have been using Maxsold for months now and have purchased many items through many auctions. Every time the item has been as described and everytime I am totally happy with my purchase.
I have referred many friends to this site and hey have experienced the same results.
I've also found some very unique and rare items that I now am delighted to have in my collection.
Had purchase items from max sold in the past and decided to try and use them instead of a garage sale. I was very happy with the results. Hope they can add a few updates to there cataloging app but other then that i can't complain. The staff was very helpful along the way, answering any questions that i had.
Maxsold contacted me after my review. They apologized for my experience and explained that its service is designed to quickly get rid of contents for people who have to get rid of their things or move, re-locate etc. It is not necessarily designed to make money, just to help with removing alot of stuff fast. Had I known that, I would not have used them for my auction. I wish this was better explained on their site and in their materials explaining their auction service. I do appreciated their contacting me about it. Thanks
Response.
We are sorry this customer remains unsatisfied. In addition to contacting this Seller about our purpose (https://maxsold.com › maxsold-purpose) and apologizing for not sharing this more widely, we did make concessions on our commissions (for those reading this that feel we should have done more). We remain sorry that it was not enough to make this customer feel they were treated fairly and that our materials didn’t clearly outline what we do and do not promise to accomplish (control of time, not price, respectively).

Maxsold is a business designed to generate alot of income for themselves. My auction was very disappointing. Very little revenue but of course, they got their fee as well as the bidders fees, making more money than the Sellers (us). Many people picking up their essentially free bids complained that during the bidding process the bidding froze, saying the server was too busy. This resulted in very low bids. I may as well of given everything away, after hours and hours of preparation with the Seller managed sale. I will not ever use this service again, nor bid on any of their auctions and participate in making them money. When I called on the weekend during pickup times with an issue, noone was available to answer the phone. Someone could do a much better job and create a far better service than this one!
I have attended 5 auctions and I just love it. I think it is the thrill of getting things I actually want for a good price. The ones running the auction at pick up are so very helpful and nice. Some of the things I have gotten, I take to our base Thrift Shop. Proceeds go to a scholarship I am on the board of. It it does not sell, it stays at the TS and that money will also go towards scholarship. Most I have been happy to keep.
Last weekend having a problem with internet server I was locked out and unable to receive confirmation for pick up address. I called and your agent was able to supply the info I needed. She rushed as I did not want to be late for pick up. As usual the team at pick up was fantastic, Very efficient, Keep up the great job and thanks.

I have been buying through MaxSold for over a year, but I am extremely dissatisfied with my Seller Auction! While I realize that it risky to auction off items, there still should be a minimum for the item that the seller would accept so that we aren't robbed as I was in my auction. Not only that, but what little proceeds that I did make, MaxSold got almost all of it! It's a disgrace and your company should be ashamed for doing people like this! Trust me, I will be sure to spread the word of my Seller experience with MaxSold!
Tip for consumers:
Go with any other online auction venue if you don't want to get robbed of your proceeds with MaxSold!
Selling a great deal of the contents of our home was seamless. The team who photographed, catalogued and were there every step of the way were excellent at their complicated jobs. The process went smoothly and we are happily moved into our new home! Mariana Maddocks
I signed a contract with Maxsold just prior to the onset of COVID, with the plan to sell the contents of my mother's home as an estate sale in May, 2020. Maxsold closed down when mandated, and I had to put the contents in storage until we could arrange the auction.
We finally opened for auction last week.
Maxsold did not offer any rebate on the cost of the auction, most of the work I did myself: photography of items, detailed description of items took me hours of prep. They still charged almost $500 service fee, and took a 30% commission. I ended up netting less than half of what I sold. Once I include the 5 months of storage, I have a net loss for tons of beautiful, perfect condition furniture pieces. I would have preferred to donate.
I have enjoyed bidding on Maxsold auctions and will continue to do so. The pictures they post show the damage so there are no surprises at pick-up and the one time that I needed support afterwards (missing remote control for tv) the staff went above and beyond and found the remote! I love the deals that I get and expect to get at an auction. At pick-up, there are numerous staff and collecting items goes smoothly. I have to state that I have never seen a dirty home at pick, on the contrary the homes have been quite clean.
I am emptying my 55+ year family home... There were lots of questions but never the same answer twice.
The photographers were sent to my house with new software on their iPhones (yes iPhones) and had problems taking and storing the pictures. When scheduling for the scheduling staff I never thought my house would be off limits for more than 2 weeks

I have zero experience with any type of auctions including online ones. I signed up with MaxSold and was really surprised at the amazing things they have up for auction. I picked up my first "win" last weekend and I absolutely LOVE IT! I look forward to all the new auctions in my area and perusing the items up for bid. Thank you MaxSold for introducing me to this new world!
I have bid on many auctions via Maxsold. Won a couple, and the bargains I got were off the scale! The items I won, I got for less than one third their value! It's always very easy to pick up after the sale end. I will continue to watch auctions and bid! The staff at pickup is always polite and professional.
Maxsold is a company that arranged an online auction for whatever you want to get rid of. They did all the work to catalog and photograph your items and organized the pickup. Great for whole households and large numbers of items. Wonderful employees! There is a flat fee and they take 30% of the total.
I have never come across a bid site that will extend the bid time on an item, seconds before it closes. Then extend it again and again. This happened to me on 5 items in one day. This will be my first and last time on MaxSold. SKETCHY!
This feature is called soft close and it's stated in the terms. MaxSold has a two-minute soft close policy on each lot. This means that if a bidder enters a bid within two minutes of the lot's initial closing time, a two-minute extension would be added on. The lot will not close until bidding is static for two minutes. This ensures that bidders aren't unfairly using fast computers or sniping software to 'snag' items in the last nano-second as they do with eBay.
Started bidding on MaxSold back in Apr. 2019. Surprized at the variety of sales and objects. I enjoy scrolling through and picking out the items that interest me. I'm always amazed at the quality and value of bids that I've won. Service is normally top notch and I'm starting to recognize some of the faces. Keep up the good work MaxSold. It is appreciated.
While we did accomplish getting items sold, we would have done better, to have done it ourselves or donated to charity and received a receipt for the donation. Staff on site was okay - photographs were subpar at best, definitions (I believe) were part of the reason items either didn't sell or were so underbid. Items were taken that were marked not for sale, supervision of the buyers by some allowed items not bid on to be taken. I approached the day of the sale that one item should not have been sold, for personal reasons - they did NOTHING to help me retrieve the small (family) heirloom. They knew who bought it. They could have made a small quick call and all would have been resolved - but they did nothing to assist. Use them if you have to but be aware items will go but maybe not at the value they deserve.
In addition to taking feedback from our Seller’s and doing our best to make it right in their eyes, it’s important to provide the following information for transparency for others that may be reading this. It’s an unfortunate reality that the market doesn’t always pay a seller what a seller thinks is a fair price for individual things (or perhaps even in aggregate) under a competitive auction model (this is true for any auction company). Maxsold does its very best to provide both a detailed outline of our process (www.maxsold.com/sell) and share our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of the market when items must be sold. Sellers have both financial and emotional attachments to items and so our job is to sell only those items they need to part with - typically items that will soon be a liability due to a move / sale of real estate / etc. as selling the items avoids additional and/or ongoing, logistical and/or storage costs. Our model, which includes selling everything to the highest bidder regardless of price, guarantees our sellers a finite and transparent experience that passes the logistical burden onto the buyers as they MUST arrive and remove, with their own resources, all of their purchases from the sellers location during a short time window agreed to by the Seller. This saves hundreds (if not thousands) in labor alone.
Although we are confident that a 3rd party professional appraiser would agree that our results were fair value (and that we offset even more significant disposal fees than they incurred), we are ultimately sorry that our seller is disappointed in this case.

Where other solutions try to control prices while having no control over time of sale, we give the seller control of time while giving up control of price to market competition. For people who have items that will soon cost them to hold onto, this is the most economic (and green) solution to the problem of getting things removed on their timelines (typically for a much larger value proposition such as a closing real estate transaction or avoiding ongoing rental/lease costs).

Regarding missing items, we do try to emphasize that the Seller MUST segregate all items not in the auction to avoid them going into the auction and/or being removed (by accident or otherwise) with items in the auction. All Sellers have the opportunity to both review the catalog prior to go live as well as being reminded several times before the pickup to segregate valuables to avoid disappointment. We are ultimately sorry this happened to our Seller. It’s a known risk that we do everything we can to mitigate through communication on Seller responsibilities.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement: http://maxsold.com/maxsold-purpose/
Our senior move specialist, Flew the Coop, put us in touch with Maxsold. Flew the Coop staff did a knowledgeable job setting us up for Maxsold auction. The communication was excellent. Maxsold staff did a good job on pick up day. Came back to a swept and cleared house. One caveat, do not expect to make substantial money - the goal is new homes for furniture and collectibles
Not only have I been a buyer for many years I had my own downsizing auction. The experience was great, it was so easy to do. I cleaned out the excess and made money. It was a no hassel experience unlike having a garage sale. I have also picked up some very fine items at a price I could afford. Love checking out all the sales.
We can't speak highly enough about the friendly professional nature of the Maxsold staff. This is the second time we have used their services and everything has gone like clockwork again. It is amazing to us that they get the prices they do because of their extensive networking and the fact that everything sells.
We would highly recommend Maxsold and their staff to anyone.
Terrible company not only do they take 30 percent of your sales but they take 15 percent from buyers as well reducing the potential money you can get from the sale from your items and lots stay away from this company not to mention they have no control of the fraudulent charges made on your items no security to prevent fraudulent credit card payments
Tip for consumers:
Stay away if ur a seller they double dip making u lose out on the maximize sale of ur items
