MaxSold has a rating of 3.9 stars from 981 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with MaxSold most frequently mention online auction, great deals, and customer service. MaxSold ranks 3rd among Auction sites.
As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
First time seller and multiple technical issues such as: - Date I picked for pickup was not the date given to purchasers - Reports online differed from reports received (kept telling me one lot wasn't paid for online) - No instructions on what to do if lot isn't picked up - App DOES NOT link to a sale you've started - Uploading photos was a challenge Reported to Maxsold and basically told to bad. They only addressed the first issue and said a confirmation email had the same date as the purchasers despite their online system showing the data I had chosen.
I would like to warn potential customers that this is terrible rip off concept. The bidding system is faulty and people who wanted to pay 100 dollars for an item on which last bid was, say 27, would get an item for 28 dollars. Also I roughly read the complicated contract but it basically said that their commission is 30%. Also they warned that 1000 dollars is their minimum fee. I agreed to that. Now out of 2,048.17 dollars that 65 valuable items were sold for we have received 793.17. It seems then that client is actually getting 40 percent and MaxSold is getting 60 percent. I have to mention that my friends who bid on it were charged additional almost 20 percent (in the name of tax and what they call 10 percent buyers premium.) Another thing worth mentioning is that a lot of people I know who were bidding were informed that they were winners and then in the last 30 seconds were outbided. Surely, a lot of employees of MaxSold showed up at our home as buyers of the items they pay negligible amounts for. I guess for them it was not difficult to bid and win. All in all terrible experience and disappointment. I would NOT recommend them.
I have been buying online estate auctions for resale for 5 years, I have purchased from 5 separate auctions by MaxSold. 2 of the 5 I never received my items as a result of actions by MaxSold employees. 1 of the 5 was a complete rip off, the items were in awful condition. One of the 5 auctions I consoled a seller, he was crying because "MaxSold had kept all the money", he did not make one dime. The website will not even release the contact information for the onsite manager, if you have a problem. THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MONEY! Awful business, RUN do not walk AWAY. USE ANYONE ELSE
I saw this site on facebook. Bid on item, was very skeptical, figured I would be outbid at last minute. I was highest bidder, and enjoyed the process. Can't wait until the next one!
We could not have been more satisfied with our MaxSold experience. We had hundreds of items for sale. Basically we were liquidating the entire contents of our house before moving. The MaxSold team came into our house a week before the auction and spent the day cataloguing and photographing everything for sale. They were friendly, efficient and organized. The support team was responsive by phone and email to all our questions and requests to amend the catalogue prior to the auction going live. The auction itself went off without a hitch. It was exciting to follow the progress of the auction all week on-line. I believe we sold about 92% of our items. Pick-up day was flawless. The MaxSold team precisely guided the buyers to the item(s) in our house they had purchased. They did not allow anyone to walk into or though our house unescorted. All in all we managed to make some money and got rid of hundreds of items we no longer wanted, though many of those items we were emotionally or sentimentally attached to. The MaxSold team members were compassionate, empathetic and a pleasure to work with. I can't recommend them highly enough.
I recently signed up to do a fully managed Auction ended on 3/6/2022. https://maxsold.maxsold.com/auction/dallas-texas-usa-downsizing-online-auction-jordan-valley-road-*******/bidgallery/page_Mw
Included the link above so you can see the end results. MaxSold did nothing besides run some green tape between huge lots with no item count no details to show accurate descriptions, most the depression glass milk glass statements I had to go add myself. After the process completed I understood why the lack of professionalism, the contractors who came out and loted / taped were the primary bidders/winners on the majority of the lots. So maxsold gets 30% of total sales, 700 flat fee, and could not market accordingly and get more than their hired staff interested. In addition the buyers also have to pay a percentage of the winning bid to maxsold. The bidder on the garage lots was here a full day past the cut off of pickup window. Just unprofessional all the way around. If you want to just give your stuff away send me pictures I might haul it away and save you some fees.
A family I know very well used MaxSold and it was one of the most stressful and disappointing things they have done. They were dealing with the death of a parent and were trying to find some help in a hard journey. Any $ you make will go to paying their staff for the poor work they do and there is terrible communication of what is happening. The family was hoping to make some $ from selling most of their parent's belongings to help pay some expenses for the funeral and in the end, even after making quite a bit of $, they did not get any of the money and they had to pay MaxSold because they charged an outrageous amount to pay their staff and they also take a commission off of the sales. When the items were picked up by people, the house was left in a terrible state and a friend of mine who picked up a lot they bid on said they were surprised at how poorly the house was treated and that people were yanking things off the wall, banging things around, walking around the house with their boots on and the neighbourhood was packed with cars and people had furniture and items all over the front yard. There was no order to getting things out of the house. If you want help in selling some of your belongings or the belongings of someone you love, then steer clear from using this company. You are better off selling on Kijiji, having a yard sale or giving your stuff away to the less fortunate and feeling good about that knowing you helped others instead of getting ripped off and being upset in the end.
It’s disappointing that we are not being made aware of who this Seller may be so that we may attempt to rectify the situation for them. That said, I will attempt to address this feedback based solely on what has been provided.
1) Almost every Seller who comes to MaxSold is coming at a difficult time in their life and we 100% agree, that it’s a stressful and emotional time for them.
2) Our maxsold managed fees are listed on www.maxsold.com/fees at 30% + $700. This covers ~45+ hours on site, 10+ hours behind the scenes, and $100s in marketing. If you do the math, I’m sure you’ll appreciate it’s not about high paying jobs, it's about an important service at an even more important time in people's lives.
3) We state unequivocally that our solution is about controlling time, not price. We do this because controlling price doesn’t help someone who needs an empty home as a result of an estate. They have more important things to worry about. See for yourself at www.maxsold.com/start
4) Expecting the goods to pay for activities is an unrealistic expectation for the vast majority of families. Any value most families have is either in liquid or real estate assets. Everything else is a liability that, for most alternatives, ends up costing $1000s to deal with. Our solution recovers something for everything which makes it the most economical choice.
5) It’s true that our process has the buyers enter the home to remove the goods under our supervision typically in a 2-4 hour window of time. For health and safety, buyers keep their boost/shoes on especially when moving heavy furniture items. In our experience, this is safer and more transparent than any other alternative including those listed by this reviewer (who I might had has taken to time to reach out and/or learn about us and what we do). For before and after pictures, feel free to check out https://maxsold.com/estate-sale-before-and-after
6) It’s also true that, if you do not value time (i. E. you think selling everything individually is a good use of your time), Maxsold is not a good solution as our value proposition is about saving the seller time while providing a reliable, efficient, safe and transparent process so that they can focus on more important things typically going on in their life.

We would typically share the auctions results at this point, however, we are not sure which auctions this person is referring to.
There is NOTHING good to say about this unprofessional band of thieves. First, they lied to me about providing service in Norfolk, Va. And then completely mismanaged the process such that most valuable items were essentially given away. They were sending people to organize and manage the sale from 100 miles away and included 1 person "the photographer" who admitted she had Never done this before and who was completely unsupervised because her lead worker arrived at 2PM rather than 9AM.
Maxsold obviously had no knowledge of the area or any plan to successfully manage the advertising of the sale. After bringing in a paltry total they then had the gall to demand money from us!
STAY AWAY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!
Tip for consumers:
I stand by my original comments But, the CEO did eventually acknowledge their failure to provide the promised services ,waived their fee and paid us the proceeds in order to make amends.
Be careful when an auction advertises 2 day pick up I lost a 200$ item as I bid assuming 2 day pick up meant either day worked that is not correct when I reached out to MAX SOLD I got zero assistance as they told me my item could only be picked up on day 1, despite the pick up information clearly saying 2 days for pick up and there being many available slots on the second day. I see this as false advertising and a really rotten customer experience I was a regular user and normally had great service but am closing my buyer account for what I can only describe as absolutely horrible customer service - buyer beware dont make the mistake I did with this site who talks a good game on customer service but really doesnt care at all

Hello Peter,
Terribly sorry for any miscommunication on our part regarding the pickup times and pickup process. Due to Covid 19 and safety procedures, including limiting the number of people on site due to local regulations, we had to change the pickup process. When we offer a 2 day pick up the pickup information inside each lot will list what pickup category the items fall under, the auction pages will list what day and time each of those categories can be picked up.
Have you sent in your request to support@maxsold.com we will review that and do our best to make this situation right for you
For years now, but especially through the COVID-19 pandemic and all the lockdowns with other stores being closed, MAXSOLD has been an amazing way to be able to find great items locally at great prices.
I enjoyed the entire experience with Maxsold!
From looking online to winning my bid- and picking up. It was easy well explained and I would do it again - I just need to win
Maxsold is great. It is a place where you can search and find some great treasures. You also get the thrill of a good ol' auction. It was a perfect way to help furnish my home!
I have won amazing items that I would have never afforded to buy otherwise. The staff has been very friendly and they have been lovely in making sure we are not missing any of the items.
I purchased 2 items at a MaxSold estate sale auction in my area. Pickup was a breeze. Everyone was so nice, they escorted me right to my item and it was so easy. Thank you MaxSold!
We’re happy to hear that you had such a great experience with us!
I recently was bidding on items at one of their online auctions and had lost several items to a higher bidder when I went to pick up the items I had won the owner said to me oh your the one I was bidding against on the items I lost she stated to me that she bid the items up to make sure she got the best price for her clients and that if she did not get the price she thought they should go for they would buy them and resell the items on line for higher price. I don't have a problem with them buying something they want for themselves but the owner has a clear unfair advantage since she does not have to pay a buyers premium of 10% an auction is supposed to be fair and unbiased all players are supposed to be on equal footing. If they want to get a certain dollar amount then they should put a reserve price on the item in advance not bid it up so i'm not wasting my time bidding when they are going to take those items for themselves what they are doing is immoral and unfair practice auction is supposed to be that items go to the highest bidder and not bid up by the auction company maybe Maxsold did not make that clear to to companies that represent but you might want to look into it
Based on this bidders feedback it’s clear there’s was communication breakdown on site. Our model provides a unique opportunity for bidders to purchase a wide variety of items through competitive auction starting at $1 without reserves. In this case, the Seller hired a very reputable company to support them with their downsize (services that typically include planning, packing, moving, preparing the home for sale, etc.). In these instances, the employees of that service are allowed to bid on the Seller’s items (just like the Seller might invite their painter, landscaper, house cleaner, home nurse, etc. to bid). The rules are the same for them as any other bidder. The slight advantage they have is that they know the goods a little better as they sometimes (as in this case) assist the seller with their auction instead of having Maxsold conduct the onsite activities (just like a neighbor might have an advantage if they were helping someone with a sale).
Although we appreciate that the perception of an unfair practice (items being ‘bid up’ at an advantageous buy-back price), our 98% sell-through (and 99% removal) rate suggests that this is only a perception (and not the truth) as our sellers (or their partners) would not invest the time and money to bid on items they have to pay full commissions and taxes on (including buyer’s premium) and then have to pay for them to disappear from the site on the day of pickup as well.
If this (or any other buyer) remains unconvinced, I would invite them to show up near the end of a pickup to see the items (or lack thereof) left over after all the buyers have come.

Employees who are incompetent and unprofessional are placed in positions of authority which they are ill equipped to handle. Will never go to another of their poorly run auctions.
It’s an unfortunate reality that some customers do not appreciate the enormous responsibility the Maxsold team has in managing the safety and security of all customers at pickup. We also expect our customer community to support this enormous responsibility through their actions while on site while also inviting them to provide feedback through our secret shopper reports. When we receive reports that a customer failed to follow policies and direction, we remove them from the bidding community. This action prevents future disappointment with that customer while also respecting the wishes of the larger bidding community and team as a whole. When this is requested, we do not take it lightly, but when feedback is overwhelming regarding unsafe and/or disrespectful behaviour by someone on site, Maxsold takes action knowing full well that it is likely to cause a retaliatory response (as in this case). It is a small price to pay to ensure we maintain the safety and security of both the pickup site and our community of customers as a whole.
This action is covered under our bidder terms regarding COMMUNITY STANDARDS: “MaxSold strives to provide our clients and employees with a safe, supportive marketplace and workspace. As such, any abusive or threatening statements or behavior, or other actions deemed inconsistent with these Community Standards in the sole discretion of MaxSold Ltd., may result in revocation of bidding privileges and closure of accounts of those responsible without notice. It is our community standard that everyone be treated with courtesy and respect.”

I was very pleased with the whole experience from beginning to end. Very well organized and all staff were very courteous and helpful. I would definitely recommend this service.
My experience with MAXSOLD was not a good one. A few weeks ago we had MAXSOLD run the auction online. After watching what was happening it was heart-wrenching. Watching bids come in at $1.00 on furniture and electronics. MAXSOLD was the only one who made out on the auction. A $700.00 fee for the Auction, plus they receive 30% more of the total sale of your items, plus they get 15% from buyers. We were told that each bin should receive at least $35.00 or more. Well, I can tell you that did not happen. The purpose of us trying this auction was because we are moving and our furniture especially was not going and we really did not want to do a yard sale.
A Lazyboy rocker recliner sold for $1.00. Our solid wood dining room table with leaf and 8 chairs would have sold for $6.00 and a Walnut Chester Drawer with cedar chest would have sold for $1.00, only the person/s was a no show. It was sickening to see what was sold at prices that were really not fair to the customer. There should have been a minimum of at least $100 on all furniture items, not $1.00. Electronics that were never used, sold for a few dollars. Really a sin. $1300 sold, less their fee($700, less their 30%) received only $244. Was this FAIR, NOT AT ALL.
So because of this BIG MISTAKE, a yard sale was done and we made over $1200. 00 in our pocket. If I had not done the Auction and had all my items I probably would have made over $2500. 00.
MAXSOLD did not make my life easier but I certainly learned my lesson, CUSTOMER beware of MAXSOLD.

Furniture, electronics,
It’s an unfortunate reality that the market doesn’t typically value a seller’s goods in the same way the Seller values them - even using a competitive auction model. At MaxSold, we do our very best to provide both a detailed outline of our process and share our past auction data to prepare sellers for the realities of the market when items must be sold.
Sellers have both financial and emotional attachments to items. Our job is to sell only those items they need to part with (typically items that will soon be a liability due to a move or a sale of real estate) as selling the items avoids ongoing costs (moving, storage, etc.). Our model, which sells everything to the highest bidder, guarantees a finite and transparent experience that passes the logistical burden of removal onto the buyers at a location and time specified by the Seller. This saves hundreds (if not thousands) in labor alone.
Where other solutions try to control prices while having no control over time of sale, MaxSold gives the seller control of time while giving up control of price to market competition. For people who have items that will soon cost them to hold onto, this is the most economical (and green) solution to the problem of getting things removed on a timelines (typically for a much larger value proposition such as a closing real estate transaction or avoiding ongoing rental costs).

I'm super pleased with Max Sold. They did a wonderful job and were very well organized. I like how the pickup was organized. It was a bit of a challenge because our apartment is pretty small and there was a lot of stuff. Yolanda was at the gate and controlled the line. Chris was in front of the door and helped the buyers pick up the boxes and Jerome was inside looking at the numbers to make sure that the correct lots were picked up. It was very nice, quiet and without stress. And people was happy with prices and very good stuff; China, porcelain and a lot of antiques. All of the buyers were very satisfied and there were no complaints from them. I have recommended Max Sold to my friends. This company is very serious and very responsible. Gia, who I talked to on the phone several times explained everything very clearly and helped me feel comfortable when I wasn't sure how it was all going to work. Jerome, who managed my auction was amazing and went above and beyond in making it a success. Thank you to everyone at Max Sold and I wish you all continued success.
Hi Valentina,
We are so happy that your auction and pickup went well! Thank you for recommending us to your friends.
Called maxsold to see what hp the motor was as they did not picture it. Was told they could not help and no one could be contacted. Bought it and found wrong motor. Don't trust anything unless you see it in a picture. These people at headquarters are useless and read from a script. This is my second buy that was not what they represented and have never had any one call me with either a REFUND ( FORGET THAT, ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY IT'S OVER) or appology for wrong discription
Tip for consumers:
buyer beware
I bought a lot of things using their service and I never had any issues. The crew is always polite and the costs are not hidden, the bills were always sent right after the auction.
I love the online auctions! I can peruse the items at my leisure and bid what I think is fair with a max bid. Pickups have been super easy and the staff are always helpful.
We bid on a nice wood dining table and 8 chairs and won with a $140 bid. When we went to pick up the item we were about 1/2 hour late. The seller refused to let us take the table citing we were not in time for the pick up window. We called MaxSold and they told us the rules is that if you are not there to pick up your item on time you forfeit it and do not get a refund. However, they went on to say that if the seller agrees to let us have the item it would be OK. So now we go back to the seller and he informed us that he would not release the table and chairs. He said that it was worth $10,000 and he was not letting it go for $140. I agree the table was worth far more than $140; but get real; $10,000?
Now the review is not negative against MaxSold because they have posted the terms an rules and they were willing to bend in this instance. It was the seller that was very greedy and heartless. So all this above is to say, be on time to pick up your item and read all the rules and terms with MaxSold
Locked Out::
I purchased from MaxSold before but only when pick-up is Sunday. As a Sabbath observer I can't pick up on Saturdays (no exceptions). It's too bad that there is no flexability.
MaxSold is the number 1 auction site for me easy, fun and the staff at pickup is always professional and friendly I highly recommend you try an auction
MaxSold.com online auctions provides local expert help to sell goods through our hyper-local online auction service when downsizing, estate sale or clearing business inventory.
Response: It’s an unfortunate reality that some bidders shop on MaxSold without fully appreciating what we do and what their obligations are as bidders (www.maxsold.com/terms) to the Seller in a MaxSold auction. We also don’t have onsite managers as we are typically selling goods directly from a Seller’s home. We do have an efficient claims process that allows us to correct cataloging errors (if any). To day, our refund rate remains less than 2% of our auction totals. Our model provides a unique opportunity for bidders to purchase a wide variety of items through competitive auction starting at $1 without reserves, but this opportunity comes with the responsibility that, without fail, winning bidders will remove items purchased during the pre published time window provided by the Seller to ensure the Seller can move on with their move or estate plans (typically a next day real estate closure). If bidders do not remove their items during the pickup time published, as per the above mentioned terms, bidders acknowledge that they forfeit their items and purchase price and are subject to removal from the bidding community for creating a disposal problem for the Seller that otherwise would not exist. Bidders are removed due to unethical behaviour and/or abuse of the bidder terms and conditions. To date, MaxSold has removed less than 0.05% of all registered bidders.
