As a seller, I was completely satisfied with MaxSold. They were efficient with their communication with me, arrived on time to photograph the items I was putting my home on the market and needed to clear all the contents. The online auction occurred on the dates we agreed and Pick Up was arranged and was efficiently conducted. Staff was courteous and experienced. Accounting was provided quickly and to my satisfaction. I would recommend MaxSold wholeheartedly. Thank you for a job well done.
First time seller and multiple technical issues such as: - Date I picked for pickup was not the date given to purchasers - Reports online differed from reports received (kept telling me one lot wasn't paid for online) - No instructions on what to do if lot isn't picked up - App DOES NOT link to a sale you've started - Uploading photos was a challenge Reported to Maxsold and basically told to bad. They only addressed the first issue and said a confirmation email had the same date as the purchasers despite their online system showing the data I had chosen.
Maxsold is a great business platform which is providing individuals with a solution to a problem that plagues a lot of us (or eventually will... estate sales): how do we get rid of all of the things we've accumulated over the years in a sustainable way? Using Maxsold by and large avoids items ending up in a landfill and reaches a person who wants or needs the selected item. Plus, the bidding is fun and easy. The website is easy to navigate and the pick up ran smoothly. I'd definitely recommend using Maxsold to purge items or if you're looking for something try and find it there!
Went very well very smooth. Lots of work getting it into order. Of course that was not because we had any issues MaxSold.
Mind you, I do not feel it is right to bid a $1.00 and received item. MaxSold depending items that have value should start it at a minimum. I had a sofa table bid was a dollar. I had no choice but let it go.
Think 30 percent is high commission.
All in all very happy that my items have been sold.
We went to pick up our auction items recently and it was very very well organised, we were in and out in no time at all.
The online process of bidding is so easy and the email notification of when you have been out bid are really helpful.
I cannot wait to participate in more auctions
My seller managed auction was so easy from beginning to end. Any snags were easily rectified with a quick phone call. Organization is the key along with carefully thought out descriptions. Pickup day was a breeze with good organization and sorting skills along with a few friends to help out. I will definitely do it again.
I Absolutely love Maxsold! It is addictive to get so many great items for such a low cost. The Maxsold staff are friendly and getting rare gems from estates would never be as attainable as they are with this company. The process is very smooth and organized making it easy to bid and pickup your items.
I'm afraid to tell people how much I love MaxSold! I don't want any more competition! This is the future of the estate sale! Live estate auctions from online auction house suffer from national competition, high prices and exorbitant shipping and auction fees! Keeping it local is the absolute best way all around!
When Maxsold auctions are in my area, I get excited! I love looking for bargains, and I have had several great ones! I enjoy being able to be in my home, doing my shopping. Last year we even got a fabulous rototiller that works great, for 6 dollars! I think everyone should give it a try (but don't bid on what I like) Here's a picture of a rug that I got for 3 dollars. Looks great in my daughter's room.
I've been bidding and buying on MaxSold for many months now and I have scored some amazing items. I love the diversity of clients they serve. I can choose to join auctions that are garage sale like, or participate in high-end estate sales that offer exquisite items.
I appreciate that MaxSold has a system that is followed. So regardless of the seller or the items-the same format is always followed. I feel confident when viewing items, and bidding is always easy.
Tip for consumers:
Be sure to view all photos for an item. Read the description fully. Before you place you bid-verify you are available on the scheduled day of pickup.
I also like to set myself an alarm reminder for 30 minutes before the end of an auction in the event I wish to increase my bid.
If you follow all of these steps, you should have no issues and be a happy customer.
Not only did they sell my antiques and expensive item for about $1.00 they sold all these things to people who were reselling everything! And they knew it every person that came to my door they knew on a first name basis! It seemed as if the did this all the time and it was a regular routine! I knot only lost a lot of my money and special antique items I ended up paying them on most of the items! So beware this is a scam!
It’s an unfortunate reality that some Sellers hire MaxSold without fully appreciating what we do and what the market is willing to pay for their items. We do our very best to provide both a detailed outline (www.maxsold.com/sell) and all our past auction data (www.maxsold.com/past) to prepare sellers for the realities of their situation but ultimately, some choose not to review the data and information we make public.
In addition, this Seller’s auction was conducted about 8 months ago and since that time, we have made changes to both our fees and our process to help reduce confusion as well as improve the Seller perspective on the problem - if you're interested in what the actual problem is, check out:

Feel free to check out the results of this auction for yourself. We are transparent with all our results and, although we are confident that a 3rd party professional appraiser would approve our our results, we are sorry this seller feels we provided a less than satisfactory result.

When l pick up my item at the house l walked in the front door a lady met me asked what the # was on the bottom of the page l told her she than call a gentle man over he took me to where the items where they both where very nice to talk to it was wonderful. Everything went smoothly these people are pro's.
I have an extensive collection of flatware, coins, stamps and fine china from my parents estate. Items go back to the 1800's. I contacted MaxSold and spoke to an individual for an estimate where I showed everything via a video call. He was excited and said I had real value here. He explained that MaxSold would come onsite and catalog everything for a fee of $800 and 30%. This evening I received a call from Stephanie who explained that I needed to unpack everything and have it available for pictures or there was a fee of $100 per hr per person (two people) to setup. There are bins of coins mostly in sleaves, boxes of flatware and fine china all available in my basement for photographing. I am upset that their sales practices are misleading. $800 seemed fair to me but a potential $1600 above that for setup is not.
Stephen,
We are truly sorry to hear that you had not had the experience that you expected. We do strive to ensure that all our customers leave happy, and it seems that we have fallen short of your expectations. We have a process that sets out that we do not do the set up for auctions, however if we were not clear enough in that then we do apologize. We will have one of the team connect with you. If you could please send the best contact number for you to patti@maxsold.com then we will reach out. Again we apologize for falling short in your expectations on this occasion.
I have been a buyer/customer of MaxSold for at least 6 years and have enjoyed the thrill of success I have experienced with some of the great wins/purchases. Being a disciplined buyer, I look for and select only the items I wish to purchase. Though there were times when I have been outbid, I am usually successful most of the time - and thrilled when my bids succeed.
It took a little time getting used to the rules on MaxSold, but when I did, my fun began and has yet to wain.
The on-site Staff has also been most attentive and helpful, on every occasion I have to collect my items.
I look forward to obtaining many unique items of interest, as many of them are no longer available on the open market. I shall continue to be an appreciative client, as long as I can contain and exercise my enthusiasm.
Well done MaxSold and I wish you continued success!
Tip for consumers:
Be alert and persistent when you wish to win a particular item. It is best to bid for items of which you are familiar with the pricing.

I am very particular about the items I choose to bid for, as such, all items purchased are of great use to myself and my family.
The $100. Discount & $50 to refer an auction to Maxsold applies ONLY IF the auction brings in over $1000. They do not make this clear during the sales call or contract negotiation. The claim that who ever referred is responsible to inform this is reprehensible. Especially for the auctions resulting less than $1000 the discount would help offset the cost of their fee. This is rather disappointing.
I had an office full of furniture and office equipment. The crew from maxsold were great, from the first day when they catalogued everything and the day it all was picked up. Items didn't sell for all that much but that's not why I went to them. I was moving and needed to get rid of a bunch of stuff. So as long as you're not looking to make a ton of money it's a great service. They did all the work, made it very easy.
I am a frequent buyer from MaxSold. While picking up my purchases I have found the staff to be very respectful and careful with the owner's property. They have the items sorted out and only allow a few people in at the same time. I have attended to the sites following the close of the pick up and I have always found the sites to be left in a clear order. MaxSold seems to me like a very respectable company offering tremendous service to the owners and also to people like me who appreciate a quality bargain... I highly recommend MaxSold to the potential sellers and buyers looking to purchase some of the most interesting items that former owners treasured... I am attaching a photo of my latest (refurbished) purchase.
They know nothing of the business. I bid on several items and then had a family emergency come up. The only answer was just wait and you will be outbid. Only
One did not. The COO called me to personally tell me I needed to show up at auction
To pickup the items and forget my family obligations. This guy just railed on and on, all
About $13.00 which was taken out on credit card immediately. I was willing to let the charge remain and never ask for a refund. Just another rectal opening running a company without a clue.
After 3 generations and 50+ years as a family business and 10 years as an online auction company, it’s always disappointing to have a customer upset. In support of reducing customer disappointment, Maxsold makes every effort to set expectations accordingly, outlining both the opportunity and the responsibility bidders have. The responsibility is not about the money - it’s about ensuring the Seller is not left with a problem created by not fulfilling responsibilities (the commitment to may payment, remove purchases during pickup and, if this responsibility is ignored, agreement to waive any refund and/or face possible removal from the bidder community for failing to keep commitments). Maxsold and it’s bidder community provide the seller with a finite experience that ensures items are removed on the Seller’s timeline - and for this commitment, bidders get the opportunity to choose to bid or not with everything starting at $1 and selling to the highest bidder.
When a bidder/buyer decides to trade one obligation for another (instead of making arrangements as other bidders in the same situation do), it comes with consequences. In some cases, we make exceptions (as we did in this case) to refund a bidder provided they take the time to understand their responsibilities going forward. When we do this, the buyer is refunded (at Maxsold’s cost), the Seller still has to figure out how to get rid of the item (that another bidder would have presumably been happy to purchase and remove), and we contact the buyer to explain their responsibilities for next time so as not to create the same problem again. When a customer suggests our purpose isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, we are forced to remove them to protect the integrity of the other bidders in the bidding community as well as future sellers from repeated abuse.

I have gotten some great deals including a mahogany table for $6. I find the secret to cheaper bulky items is that the farther they are from the main city the cheaper they go for. The only tech problem I encountered was when I bought too much and they had to adjust the pick up time.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for your review!
Maxsold Auctions are very easy to use and user friendly. Their staff at every auction location have been more than friendly and extremely helpful. This is a new auction experience and I for one, love it! Thank you Maxsold!
I have been doing online auction buying, (and one recent sale), with several different Auction Houses for about two years now. My experience ranges from other auction places as "I will never deal with that place again" to "Wow, look at that, fantastic" with Maxsold.
I have had many great experiences with MaxSold, and even when a mistake happens, they go out of their way to correct it! This in my opinion, the true measure of a company, as anyone can make a mistake, but it is how a company deals with it that makes the difference. They make every effort to make it right.
I've dabbled in the past with online auction sites like eBay and others, but Maxsold had won me over with the easy and simple way of bidding on what I want, being able to pick it up and not having to wait on the mailman after paying a shipping charge. I've considered storage auctions, but you have to take all of the items and clean the storage space. Maxsold has simplified the auction process.
MaxSold is a great company to do business with. I have only had the experience of dealing with them from the buyers side but it has definitely been a positive experience. The process of bidding is simple and streamlined, they set out clear expectations and if at all possible and under reasonable circumstances will work with you to ensure you're experience is a positive one. I highly recommend checking them out and placing your a few bids today.
I've bought a lot of stuff from Maxsold. I've had problems with just one item. Won the auction of two stock tanks for $30. One heck of a buy! When we went to pick them up, only one was there. When I research what happened, I found that one item was listed in two lots, so by the time we got there, the other person had already picked up our item thinking it was included in their lot. All Maxsold did was refund my $30.
I have been buying from MaxSold for several months now and love it. I find it very easy to bid and the system is fair to everyone. The pick ups for the most part are easy but do remember to bring your own bags and boxes.
Every auction is handled differently from what I have seen (from being over supervised to no supervision) but I have not yet had an issue at any.
Great for deals on just about everything.
I bought about $200 worth of jewelry. They were in plastic bags and the different lots were separated by only blue tape on a dining room table. I read back the lot numbers to the Maxsold rep and they matched so I thought I got everything. The day I checked my inventory I found I was missing about 1/3 of the items pictured on the auction site. Seems someone else got part of my lot. They need to do a better job of keeping the lots separated properly. I basically just threw away over $65 by not getting the entire lot I paid for. And I drove over two hours to pick it up.
It's disappointing that we provided this customer an unsatisfactory experience. If they haven’t already done so, I would invite them to complete a refund request form (www.maxsold.com/refund). Although requests made after pickup are considered on a case by case basis (as they are outside the agreed to terms and conditions of bidding noted below), we are committed to being fair to all our customers.
The following attempts to highlight the process, performance rate, and method to avoid disappointment for all potential buyers on Maxsold's platform.
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer can inspect the item in full view of the auction staff, other buyers (and sometimes the Seller) and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site (including missing). In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:
"CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller."
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.
MaxSold continues to reinvest all funds made in the pursuit of its vision to Sell. Everything. Simply for downsizing and estate clients without judgement:

Maxsold is great when you feel you have too much clutter and are not able or want to throw things out. They are extremely helpful at all stages and the customers and sellers are really nice people and we form a little maxsold family as you run into the same people often. I love it!
