This company does not typically respond to reviews
Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
They suck balls I had over 1,000 reviews I had 5 stars and because I posted a designer inspired air pod case they close my account. It was my first unnecessary warning not multiple. This company is the worst I don't recommend it at all.
I attempted to make a purchase from Mercari.com.
The item showed "fee shipping" in blinking text.
When I placed an order there was a $4.25 shipping charge. Not a big deal but I asked the seller about the charge. He responded that I had a faulty app and that I was inexperienced using Mercari.
He then refused to sell to me or accept text messages. Rude, rude, rude. Where do these people come from?
I generally like this company, however the "return" policy Stinks. Before I purchased my Gucci shirt,I asked the seller about the sizing and told him what I usually wear. The "seller" assured me it would fit. Well,it didn't. I wanted to "exchange" for another size that was being sold and they Declined. The "seller" claimed he would, but no real action towards it...worse return policy & they seem just concerned about their "cut" from sales... Warning! Make sure it's something you know you can Fit from them.Bad Customer service!
By becoming a seller or buyer, you allow the app to have your name, address, credit card info etc. Now they're asking for government issued ID and face recognition!?!?! Talk about invasion! Too creepy for ALL my information to be stored in the app-gives me stolen identity vibes
Tip for consumers:
Customer service is awful
First time buyer received a damaged espresso machine and package. Reviewing item is a double edge sword obviously well orchestrated no matter what happens you lose your $$$. Customer service worse ever, play games going back & forth with email. I will pursuit legal action based on principal now rather the loss of 100 +
A seller sold me a counterfeit item. Mercari didn't care because it was only after their 30 day period that I discovered I got scammed. They took no action against the seller and continue to let them sell fakes as real. Scummy scam site.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid this site like the plague

Well has a. Buyer its great but has a seller its pretty bad. The support is garbage at best. Better hope there's not an issue with anything you sell because what happened to me should be criminal. They lie and say invalid tracking numbers but they are not they do not help when your dealing with a real a**hole customer that just won't wait for a day or to for mail to update theres a pandemic going on people sh*t is slow. Bottom line i have sold at least 50 things and I have wonderful feedback and only had 2 issues with same customer and both times mercari gave back refunds without contacting me at all just beware ebay is much better for sellers. Also there are a lot of lazy sellers and really bad buyers so make sure you don't let people with zero feed back buy from you.
Do not use this platform. Mercari like many other have said is not seller friendly. Shipped products to customers, left tracking info. A day later Mercari email me saying orders were cancelled. Total scam and committing Fraud. Yes Mercari I will posy on every review site not to use your fraudulent service, so no one else get scam by you low life $#*!s.
Tip for consumers:
Here's my tip-do not use this site unless you want to get ripped off
After shopping, deciding on an item, and completing payment in Paypal, Mercari decides to tell me that the item cannot be purchased. No further explanation. What a waste of my time. F$@# Mercari. Zero stars, obligatorily rounded up to one.
Mercari now demands personal information such as social security numbers and much more in order to sell on their platform. Not eBay nor OfferUp requires this. This site is a scam! Mercari has lost my trust
Tip for consumers:
Don’t use this site

Horrible - scam site. They will keep your money. They care nothing about the seller or buyer - no way to talk with a real person. Wish I could leave zero stars. Please save yourself and shop anywhere else.
I have ordered from three different sellers. After a long delay they cancelled my order and refunded my money. My thoughts are why list it in the first place, either you want to sell it or not. Stay clear of Mercari.
Item arrived dirty with yellow stains that are inpossible to clean.
Customer service refused the return because they only give 72 hours since the delivery.
Sometimes it takes me few days just to pick up my packages.
Wasted $100.
Started off liking this app but things quickly changed when I, as a seller, had a very hard to deal with buyer. I tried to get through to customer service and when I finally did make contact they were no help. Opposite of help actually. I ended up losing money and gaining frustration. Shortly after, Mercari added additional fees. I was told this fee was so they can provide better customer service! Biggest joke. Buyers are allowed to return an item for any reason leaving the honest seller short from shipping cost. I would rather give my items away that try to sell on Mercari
I bought something for the first time from Mercari. Paid via PayPal, got tracking, got my package in expected condition. Should be done, right? Nope nut bag seller left me a one star review because I didn't communicate with her. Lol sorry I'm not looking for new friends, just want what I paid for. Mom of Boys x 2, as another mom of two boys and a potential repeat buyer, you've lost out on business. Back to Amazon for my purchases!
I'm sorry that you had a poor experience with a seller on the app Brianna! If you'd like, we can definitely review this rating you received if you send us an email at contact@mercari.com with the item ID for the transaction. Rest assured that each seller on the platform is unique in their own way!^JR
Like many who wrote below, I sold an item on Mercari and then never received my payout. Attempts to contact them to get it have all failed. Just use Ebay, someone at this business has taken an unethical decision to rob people of promised funds.
Three of my last five items came damaged, and last one the seller I asked point blank is there any damage to the item. Reply " Nothing that I noticed. " box comes with one inch tear and mercari says well we only refund or return when not as described in listing! So ask seller about condition since pictures didnt show damage. Only after it arrived did I notice at times mercari pictures need to be double clicked to enlarge. Total unethical sellers lately, when all my previous transactions we perfect. First time I get to deal with customer service, and they basically dont want to lose out on fees.
Tip for consumers:
Check pictures or ask for more pictures, because sellers will post one saying its brand new and back or sides or top or bottom might really be crushed. Then mercari will say that front matched description your s.o.l. !

The site will gouge you. You can sell something for $12, and earn $9.95. They will not give you your money unless you pay another $2, claiming that their minimum to receive a payout is $10. Nobody else does this. Stick with ebay, FB Marketplace or Poshmark.
Tip for consumers:
I wish I'd never heard of it.

Didn't use a product -- tried to sell on the site.
I've had issues with several buyers who have a history of leaving negative feedback for sellers and/or returning items that are different than what was sent to them. Mercari allows this behavior and doesn't help the sellers. For instance, one item was a purse that was purchased from our family but the woman returned a makeup bag that looked nothing like the listing photos. I was furious because the lady previously left negative feedback with critiques about shipping and cleanliness of the brand new items we shipped her on another purchase. She then did it again, by requesting to return another makeup bag. Her reason: she already had a yellow makeup bag. Seriously. If can take hours for a seller to dispute.
We eventually looked her name up online and Missy Nauth from Findlay, Ohio, has posted infuriated comments on another selling platform. My issue is that Mercari continues to approve and allow these buyers to take advantage of the sellers, as they're not the ones losing money.
I am obsessed with mercari! I find myself shopping on my downtime. The set up is very user friendly. Items can easily be found in a search. Which will help with sales. I've sold and bought on here. It's completely replaced eBay for me.
Apparently some sellers at Mercari don't have experience in selling nor that website has a way to make them compliant of standard trading rules. It takes weeks for an item to arrive, if you receive a wrong and/or damaged product due to poor packaging practices you'll have a hard time getting a refund or any reparation whatsoever. If you want to leave a bad rating for the seller you'll have to accept the product and then you're screwed. Appears Mercari has bad practices towards buyers, the ones really bringing them revenue. Sadly, I'll have no other option than to stick with Amazon and eBay, I have always got satisfaction from both this sites. I wish there were more responsible and reliable web sites where to buy.
Tip for consumers:
Do not use this web site, you have plenty of other options. Mercari appears to be a glorified Craigslist where you'll take a risk of being conned.

I've had overall good experiences with other users on Mercari. But when issues arise, the customer service is an absolute let down.
Their team has been unhelpful to work with and hasn't resolved my issues in any instances which has left me frustrated and not wanting to use this platform anymore to sell my items. Maybe consider using Depop or eBay instead of them if you're deciding on what to use.
Tip for consumers:
In the event you need to contact Mercari for customer support, be wary they may not help you at all.
My account has been closed without any notifications! Just received that it's closed. No customer service, only robotics duplicated answers, never provided the reasons and listings which were wrong. Moreover, to deposit my funds I need to take verification again. It's ridiculous, I made it already, one month ago.
Please, don't sell there. Looks like competitors report your items for no reason, just to rid you of. Mercari doesn't investigate, notifies you! No customer service at all. Scammer app!
There's a lawsuit coming their way soon from what I've heard from some top government people. They won't be around for too long. Don't risk doing business with them as a buyer or seller. These people are criminals! 99% of feedbacks are negative except the ones that are paid reviews.
They will randomly ban your account for no reason and not even give you an explanation why!
Customer service doesn't exist impossible to get anyone on the phone it seems like one person is running an entire company save your self the trouble and use eBay!
This is Mercari: The Selling App. The fast and easy way to sell or buy almost anything.
Hey Jerry,
