Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I tried to use this app because a friend recommended to use it to sale some of the products from my cleaning convenient store. At first, I thought it was easy to post items but later I found out that cheap and ignorant people will make ridiculous offers like how are you suppose to make money? On top of that, they can even suggest to remove your listings simply because is not the price they want, and at the end Mercari buyers made them remove many of my offers. Even though my prices were very competible, I really never sold anything in that app and I tried to complain via email or a live agent to address this inconvenience but it was impossible and very frustrating.
Also, I completely removed my adds there because I read on another review company that they do not pay their sellers.
I suggest Not to waste time on this app if you are a seller but if you are a cheap low baller prick buyer, is the best place to keep them busy.

Mercari is a scam for sellers! Do not sell on Mercari, if you do you will get screwed. I "sold" an autographed Football and the buyer didn't review the photos and caption of the item clearly and when he received the item he requested a return because he said the autographs were "not original". Which they are and the COA that I listed explained the signatures. Anyway, Mercari sided with him and didn't even ask for my side of the transaction! How do you undo a sale without speaking to both parties?
It cost me more than $300 loss.
Don't sell on Mercari is all I can say!

Really great app if things go smoothly, the main issue is that if your tracking isn't scanned and it doesn't state it's been delivered, you can be left in limbo forever as the buyer can state it was never delivered. Also, if you misjudge your weight at time of drop-off for an item you sold. You have to; cancel the sale > change the weight of shipping > relist the item > have buyer pay for it again > and then you can ship it. It is a sure way to lose a buyer since it requires so many steps. It would be nice to have a function that can change weight regardless of it is shipped or not as issues can arrive for shipping; larger box required, more packaging protection, etc.

I ordered a phone, its says 10 days later that there is no shipping date. I cancel phone, they require 24 hours to notify the seller meanwhile there is no one to talk to. There is nothing to make you feel as if some one is doing something. I get a feeling that I am going to get ripped off. Lets wait and see but i should have read this site about staying away from these guys.

Wow I was surprised to see the reviews. I am more of a seller than buyer and I have sold several items with no problems and Mercari direct deposited the funds into my bank account. All my transactions have been very smooth. I have purchased 3 items on there as well and am completely satisfied!

If I could give this company zero stars I would. They locked my daughter's account with $500 in it and will not unlock - despite showing "proof of her identity." They have robo responses to all email and phone calls. DO NOT use this to buy or sell anything!

This is site has unfair practice. The site has automated responses and does not resolve any issues. The site deletes listing stating the listing is stock photos (they must think I am a supermodel) when you email with facts about any issues the responses are all automated. They suspend your account for no reason often. So if you basically want headaches and to be harassed by the site by unfair claims and awful automated costumer service. Sign up for this app. They also keep your money for a long period of time before depositing in your bank account. I understand this is how they make profit from earning interest off of our money, but come on at least have real live people in customer service... Worst experience ever! BEWARE...

I've filed a formal complaint about this site several times to stopfakes.gov and other government agencies for selling counterfeit items as well as used cosmetics (disgusting). If you want to pay 2 times more than what you would pay in the store or at a reputable online dealer for items like this - than by all means, please do, but I think that I've said enough.

If I could give this site no stars I would. It's a lie and a sham. There is no customer service team. They sabotaged my sale, cheated me out of shipping charges and then put on my profile false information to sabotage my seller profile. They say they are easy to get in touch with for customer support, they are not. They will not help you. They are not there to help you. When you choose "contact us" you are cycled back to the help FAQ page. I had to google search their support number and email. BARB, responded 7 hours later and was unable to tell me where to find basic information they must supply me. Going back to eBay and VERY sorry I tried this site at all. Never again.

Downloaded the app and made my first purchase. Funds were held for 3 days. Then they let the seller cancel the transaction. They expect instant payment and do not hold sellers accountable for illegitimate business transactions. Seller stated that they were shipping my items in the morning. Three days later deal was canceled without explanation.

I spent over $108.11 buying a porcelain vase. I got the vase and it was broken in pieces! The seller, Agape Treasures, told me to file a return at Mercari after I complained. I took me 20 minutes to find out how to file a return. Mercari refused to do anything about it and simply said they are sorry! This is the worst buying experience. No one is this irresponsible. Ebay has a 30 days return policy and Amazon has an excellent policy. Mercari is the worst. Do not ever buy from this site because the seller and Mercari will not be responsible for your purchases. You are on your own!

Mercari are Useless and Thieves. On 12/8/20 i shipped out a Gameboy Advance worth $200. When buyer received the item he wanted to return it. Mercari send me a message to return the buyer his refund. By mistake I pressed the return refund and the buyer have not returned my item. I contacted Mercari and they still haven't resolved the matter nor have I received my money or item back. They have no consideration and no respect. If you ever come across a buyer by the name of Eric Gallagher dont sell to him. He's a Thieves and a liar.

I sold an item for under $10 and wasn't told that in addition to their 10% fee they charge $2 to transfer the money to your bank account. No one would help me and transfer it in the other ways paypal, credit card, mail a check or let me speak with a supervisor. Ebay does not do this. It is just a sleazy way to get more money from you. Stick with ebay and don't use this app.

Gave mercari a second chance. Deleted my account several years ago, but my other sites had slow sales. I sold some items on the app. I have $39 in my balance. Been trying for weeks to get my money and just close this account. 1st try i was told the bank info i put in was already in use! Then i tried 3 other bank accounts. I got the same error in each. Picture of error posted. Not sure what it means (i am as US seller). I emailed them and got a response 3 days later. Basically was told to delete and reinstall the app. That didn't work. Emailed again today. Feeling like i my have to file a complaint with the BBB.

Beware of selling on this site! They will charge you shipping overage to make money. I meticulously weigh all my items prior to shipping and a 4 oz package was charged an additional $8.35 saying package weighed 1 lb 7 oz. They try to blame USPS but have no proof and when you call USPS they know nothing about it. I sell on multiple other reputable sites and know the exact shipping weight of my items. I am convinced this is one of their revenue streams as there is no recourse. Be smart and avoid this low class site for selling.

I tried Mercari.com to purchase a water filter for my Samsung fridge. The seller for this transaction was
"thrift and Overstock"
Shipping was quick enough. Problem was, they send me the wrong filter. What they sent wasn't even close, it was for a fridgadaire fridge, not Samsung. It looked like they just pulled it out of a trash can, packaging torn. I didn't realize it, but Mercari has a strict 72 hour return policy. Get that? Available return time measured in HOURS, not Days. I contacted them about 76 hours after I got delivery, explained the problem. AFTER having me repeatedly send them pics of the wrong item, damaged box, etc, they told me I was TOO LATE. Their policy is carved in stone, no credit, no refund, no return. I tried leaving a review for the seller on their site, but did not have that option. I'm guessing most of the 5 star review there are FAKE. BeWARE - Spend your money somewhere else. These guys are scammers.

Bought a Swatch listed as "New". It arrived and didn't work. The packaging had been opened so I took it out and checked for a battery. The insides of the watch had been somehow twisted so the battery wasn't accessible. Sent a return request with pictures of this watch along with an actual new one. They denied the return because I had opened the battery compartment.
I should have researched the seller, they had just created their page, this was the only item, they said from Texas but the return address on the package doesn't exist and tracking shows that it actually came from Florida. Even with all of this now obvious fraud, Mercari said sorry because I opened the battery compartment to see why the watch wasn't working. Mercari is a place for scams.

Purchased a pair of jeans from seller with 5 stars who said she shipped next business day. A week went by, nothing. Contacted Mercari, nothing. Contacted Seller, nothing. Got an automated email saying I could cancel order, but if you cancel you can't rate seller ( in this case, horrible seller). So all ratings are fluff and Mercari does nothing to prevent this ridiculousness. This seller apparently does this all the time. Avoid Mercari like the plauge, especially "Fashionbabexo3".
I'm pretty sure Mercari is Italian for "Huge waste of time."

1) it's only good because they take lower percentage than Poshmark so you make a little more in sales
2) FOR BUYERS: the amount of counterfeit on this app is insane! Shopping for brands (Jordan sneakers or Designer) everything you see is probably fake. And they take forever to remove this stuff.
3) Sellers scamming you: the purpose of selling used items it to lower the cost a little or just to get rid of it. People are buying clothes off Amazon for $8 and listing it for $30 on this app. People are falling for this all the time! Mercari also doesn't remove these so make sure you look into everything you buy.

Google everything online before you buy. And most items aren’t actually the brand they say.

I brought a iPad mini 2 that had a little crack on the screen which I accepted. The day I received the item the screen would keep moving on its own. Furthermore, I made a pin to enter the tablet and it would randomly click things thus wrongly inputting my pin which locked me out a couple of times for that reason. I reported the problem to Mercari and asked for the 72 hour return yet this was Mercari response. Look at the screen shots

Lost money and received poor rating for NO reason... contacted support only to be told there was nothing they could do. Paid very quickly and had great communication with seller, except seller shipped my item over a week late and not as described. Furious how they can over look this issue and say please contact us only to be told saaaame thing. Do not waste your time!

Ordered plants, emailed the day they arrived that I was missing almost half the order. Waited days, then contacted paypal. Mercari emailed and closed my order, then days later said I needed to send pic. Well the balance of the order was planted and below ground so no recourse they said. No refund, No buyer protection. If they can have a get back to me in 24 hours or you're screwed then so should the buyer.

Beware if you receive an item not as described and need to return it. Custom support is non existent.
I received a reply say they are investigating and that was it. I did received a reply for the case that stated my item had been removed due to shipping restrictions, however I was a buyer I didn't have a listing to take down.
All my replies have gone unanswered.

I sold a authentic Valentino handbag with tag and certificate of authenticity and buyer still called to fake which I didn't understand at first. And it was approved for return bc mercari doesn't know who to side with! When it was returned to me it was stained with jeans stains (it's a light nude pink bag). Mercari said that they don't know if it was stained prior to me selling the item!

Mercari is an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE website and is a SCAM. They do not help in resolving issues and all listings are fraud. I purchased a Christmas gift for my daughter. List was for new blow-dry brush. Product. And very used even with hair wrapped around the brush. Mercari refused to offer any refund or assistance
