Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
As unbelievable as it sounds, once you buy something Mercari, there is NO WAY to contact Mercari or your seller if there is a problem. Once you order, you're screwed if something isn't right. I just wasted $125 on a faulty Hard Drive. So angry. Mercari doesn't have a phone number, an email address or a physical location to try to contact.

Mercari gives you no help zero, nada. They take the sellers money and will back the buyer who can easily scam you out of your item
I give them a triple zero rating. No help they have poor response no contact number

Mercari tells me not to rate the seller who lied about the phone which was was locked and the seller stated it was unlocked. If I rated the seller, Mercari told me I would not receive a refund so I am rating Mercari. I returned the item but did not receive a refund so the battle goes to the credit card company. Mercari is really a terrible website. I have over 17 years of experience selling on eBay and Mercari is the worst site to try to sell or buy an item.

Purchased something on Mercari. The seller was in communication with me, then all of sudden goes off the map, and cancels my order which put me in a real bind. He does not tell me why, a message from Mercari is that seller is unable to ship. Not only that, we are not able to leave negative reviews, only Mecari can when it is a canceled order. This site is suspect and never use it again.

Purchased item was not as described... item described as "good", however, it contained broken and discolored pieces which were not visible in the photo (on purpose?). You have 3 days to provide a review (who knew?) or Mercari writes a good review. When asking to revise the review Mercari REFUSES. Buyer beware! POC company. Zero stars if available.

I ordered a gift for my husband and had changed my address the month before. Mercari didn't allow me to remove my old address but I did indict my new home address. My husbands gift was mailed to my old address. Support sided with the seller and gave them 5 stars without any help to me. I had to file a dispute with my bank for my purchase lost. Then Mercari locked my account down and wouldn't let me message anyone or do a thing on my account. I had already purchased another item way before this happened. When I got it, it was spray painted all over and smelled horrible. Due to my previous dispute. They locked me out of my account so I wasn't able to contact that seller. Again, Mercari left 5 stars for me when I wouldn't have ever left that review. This company is a scam. They run from issues and only back the sellers. I'll never buy or sell with them. Stay far away.

I recently sold a camera lens that was only used for testing. I 100% accurately described the item and yet the buyer decided on day 3 which is the last day they have that they wanted to do a return for whatever reasons they specified. Mercari chooses not to tell you the reason that buyers give for returns or allow you to fight it. They state that they will decide within 3 days as to whether or not the return reason is valid. In this case they took 18 days but not only that they allow the buyer 9 days to ship it back while only allowing 3 for newly purchased listings to be mailed out. I have no doubt that this buyer purchased the lense, realized it didn't fit and gave some bogus reason as to why she needed to return. Now I've been out $250 that I would have had a month ago because of both this buyer and Mercari. Insanely frustrating

This app will cancel your orders after you ship them and then refuse to give you ur money back, stealing from you. This happened on multiple occasions, and customer service is horrible. You're much better off selling things yourself than using this horrible awful app. If I could rate it a zero I would. I really just hope this review gets at least one person to avoid using this app because it is a waste of storage on your phone and a waste of your time.

Do not use mercari to sell/buy your items! This was the worst trade/selling/buying app I've ever used. Not only did I get scammed multiple times (yes, I was dumb enough to keep trying), but the customer service is terrible, rude, and so unhelpful. I 'sold' items and when I sent them they 'got lost in the mail' and I lost my money and the item :(. When I purchased an item, they were so damaged and not as described in the listing. I am honestly so disappointed with this app. I'm sure that most of the reviews on here were written by mercari staff or people paid to leave a review. Trust me, I am trying to save you!

Purchased a Lynyrd Skynyrd Second Helping vinyl lp from House of Vinyl East described as GOOD. It's actually scratched, dusty, fingerprints... NOT good. Tried to get help from Mercari and they denied it. Last purchase on that site! Tried to add photos here, but they are too big for this site...

There is no protection for Sellers when it comes to unfair false ratings and giving the buyer rights to return items that was greatly detailed and photographed. Mercari ignores the rights for Sellers and always take the side of the buyer when they are at wrong. They also give the buyer 7 days to return item instead of 3 days they inpatient about the seller sending the item. It a waste of time and money when Mercari doesn't review the Seller's side of the sale. They even allowed a buyer to return lotion that was opened. It's unfair to us Sellers this way with price hikes like 3 times a year of their selling and processing fees and on top of their shipping fees. A very one sided unethical company.I'm

The only standard conditions are fair or good and new? We all know that F and G are the lowest and no one in their right minds would buy with that rating. They have to improve their app and add the Goldmine standard for rating the Lps for buyers from the sellers. Which have F,G,VG,VG+,E,NM,M- sealed. I have always ordered NM and if it's not then I send it back, on the sellers dime. Currently you can't do anything. Plus Marcari is pretty bad for me, a seller, to have to resort to this site with complaints.

Lp sellers only have the F and G and New. That is not enough to get a good idea of the records condition.

For buyers it's good but not for sellers. If the buyers wants a return even on custom stuff, they can get a return way to easy leaving the seller with a loss. I sold on here for years and have had this issue to often. I'm done with this pathetic company

I purchased a smart watch on Mercari. I learned my lesson. I had asked the buyer what the model number was & if it was up to date. I get told yes. I receive it and see that it was made in 2011 & not capable of syncing with my Google Pixel. I contacted Google support & if the watch was the newest version in (which is what I was told) then it would have worked. Or if the seller ever did an update. I contact Mercari & get told that I had to ask for a refund. I end up going back and forth with the seller because 'they do not do refunds.' All the selling apps have hard to reach customer service but Mercari does nothing. They make you do the work. Ideally, if a person sell a non-functioning item, the buyer should not be forced to hollar or be out money.

I have been selling and buying on there for 2 years, have purchased a few fake items and didn't find out until too late, but after a lot of work and my money got that fixed, but now I was out of town and they are asking for my identity I never give that out and no need to, so wouldn't and my account is now closed, no reason at all! After I spent thousands on there and sold a lot too for them. They are the worst, I would stay far away, there are many other sites that treat you much better, 0 stars for this horrible company.

It is virtually impossible to get help if you have an issue with an item. If the seller will not fix it then your stuck. There is a "contact us" listed on the bottom of the website but it is worse than trying to get to a real person on one of those robo calls. Buyer beware! Buy at your on risk. I am warning you now. You will be the next one leaving a bad rating soon because I thought it would not happen to me and here I am.

The customer service is worse than Poshmark. They take less of a % but it's not worth dealing with the incompetent customer service in my opinion. They took down a listing I had that was warning others of someone scamming people on the site. They don't care because either way, they make money.

my tip to anyone using this site is to cancel your account and use Poshmark. Mercari is Japanese based anyways, Poshmark is US based.

Product sold not as described and does not even come to close to requested. Seller used bad faith in selling practice and Mercari ignores the issue. I purchased an item for a my specific vehicle and in the product description states that it is for my specific vehicle. Product was sent to me and when arrived it was completely wrong (not even close to the described intent). I emailed the merchant right away upon receiving the product and their excuse is they can't return a product because it doesn't fit. If I made the mistake in not asking for a specific product and not verifying the description of the product I would quite understand and take full responsibility for my mistake, but that is not so. The Seller purposefully misled me (the buyer) and the merchant who should be an impartial mediator do not want to rectify the issue. My money is hard earned and I refuse to be cheated of it.

I purchased a coat a few days ago. I received confirmation of my purchase. One hour later I received an email telling me that my order had been cancelled. I was not given a reason. I tried contacting Mercari by phone. No human was available. I tried a chat. No one was available to chat. And there was nowhere on their site to leave a message. I tried to message the seller. That didn't work either. All that I wanted to know was why my order was canceled. This company is impossible to get in contact with and they do not operate professionally. I will never do business with them again and I would not recommend them to anyone. I'm still waiting for my refund.

Most of the complaints here are from people who don't read. They complained of things that were against mercari rules. Take time to read the terms and conditions and you won't have a problem. This is a great site to buy and sell. I like the way the app is set up. It is very user friendly. You can keep up with items you may be interested in buying. The search filters are great and will generate a list of relevant items. I recommend this app to everyone. And I've had to contact customer service three different times. I've asked questions, and I've had to have assistance. I've always gotten a helpful response in a timely manner.

No more buy from Mercari. When i got a bag from seller, the bag was not as described so I requested the return. However employee said we can't accept the return. Why they can judge that bag is as described. They don't even see the real thing.

I ordered a blanket from this company as a gift; I had seen it on other sites for twice the price and thought I was getting a great deal, especially with the caption "perfect condition, just like new." Well, it wasn't. It was dirty, covered in lint, and certainly was not new. Also the way it was packaged was horrendous. It had been rolled into a ball and stuffed into a barely taped box... Poor quality all the way around... Never again.

I bought a pair of sandals from one of the sellers. When they arrived, they were a size smaller than listed. The seller apologized for her mistake and told me to send them back, which I did, only to find out I wouldn't be receiving a refund. Instead, they issued me "mercari credits". Ok I shop in the site here and there so I looked for something else to buy but didn't see anything I wanted. A month later I found something I liked and went to use my credits, only to find out they expired! Mercari refused to give me my money back and would not renew my credits. Now I'm out the shoes and the money I paid for them! Don't shop on this site! The WORST I ever experienced! Not worth your time or your money! I will stick with eBay!

When you have issues there is a area that is suppose to answer your questions yet 96% of my issues are not part of the AI.
You have the hardest time on figuring out how to reach them on top of that. They also change rules with no policy change. The people who buy n sell are 99% cool as I've been buying and selling for over a year. The problem is Mercari associates and leadership. It's like if the site depended on the employees the site would have tanked. I sell on all sites and Ebay is the best one then Mercari and Poshmark run close but Mercari is better by more sells. Other sites all run the same in their own subjects.

It was a good deal, not an unbelievable one. However the scammer sent something to an address in the same city so he got paid. Mercari support was worthless. I notified Mercari support the day it was delivered it was sent to the wrong address. They kept closing my support case with no resolution. I am now waiting on PayPal to investigate and hopefully get my $110 back.
